The Distance - Mariah Carey live in Borobudur 2018 (85,722) by Licia from USA
She sang my song in Indonesia and I was pretty excited about it. In the beginning of the song you can tell she relied heavily on the backing track, but she did sing the chorus. There was a part where she went to hit a note and you can hear where the backing track came back in. There was a delay because the wrong note came out of her mouth before the track came in to cover it up. Despite that it was still nice see her perform the song. Anyway here's the video if anyone is interested.

Re: Caution track #6 (85,718) (85,721) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Mariah has at least 3 recordings prior to Giving Me Life (album tracks that are not remixes) that exceed 6 minutes. Coincidentally, all of them are cover versions: The Beautiful Ones and Last Night A DJ Saved My Life as pointed out by others, and more recently, One More Try which is around 6:21. Giving Me Life is going to be her longest original song so far.

I think "Last night a DJ saved my life" and "The beautiful ones" were around 6 minutes. [Webmaster: According to Wikipedia, "The beautiful ones" is 7:00 and "Last night a dj saved my life" is 6:43.]

Caution track #6 (85,718) by Chicago Lamb from USA
Titled "Giving me Life". 6 min 8 sec. This is a Mariah album first. What do you think is going on within this track? Never has a Mariah track been this long. Is it a full length interlude club banger? #10]

Caution song lengths / running time (85,716) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
So if sources are to be believed, Caution is gonna clock in at 38 minutes. Giving Me Life, the Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) collaboration, is said to be 6 minutes long - the longest track in the album, followed by 8th Grade at over ten seconds shy of 5 minutes. The title track is just several seconds longer than A No No, so I hope that means it's a tight upbeat banger. No definite info yet on what the bonus track for Japan is gonna be.

Re: Mariah Carey giving advice on The Voice (85,712) (85,715) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I don't know what to say Andrew my point was we talk about Mariah's voice and how disappointed the fans are about it so much on the message board that for me it feels like there isn't room for much else. Perhaps you see it differently and that's your right. I stand by what I have said as well, and my comment wasn't directed at you in any way either.

Mimi might get inducted this year, but I think Missy might get inducted before her. As always it's a competitive field of nominees. I doubt Mimi will make it ancestry deserves it.

Re: Mariah Carey giving advice on The Voice (85,707) (85,712) by Andrew from UK
Deedre, with respect, it's not "still" the vocal decline, I, myself, messaged to say that the shift in decline is now resulting in really awful physical vocals. Something is definitely very wrong. It was never this bad. It's bad. The soft notes. The Voice was magical. But the performance of her songs have become... insert word. Mine won't make Eric's draconianism.

Mariah ruined Brand K Starr's life. She's a life ruiner, she ruins people's lives.

She did a fantastic job as an advisor. I loved every minute of it. Yet the main topic on here the day after is still vocal decline. Sigh. lol. I truly enjoyed watching her work this way with artists and could easily have kept watching. I would love if they brought her back.

Brenda (85,705) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
To be honest Brenda is looking for attention anyway, she crossed over to Latin market and yet and still nobody cares she is just not that girl unfortunately. I really don't get her sour grapes at this point other than trying to make MC her issue for attention purposes. She knows that MC gets press no matter what and she still has not become that star she hoped she would be, and MC on the other hand has become that star that Brenda has always envisioned for herself and more. Hopefully Brenda can realize that she is where she was supposed to be and move on.

Thank you RJJ and Gee. As for my favorite CB song, all of them are my favorite, but the one song that cemented my love for CB is My Saving Grace. This song helped me get through a really bad moment. The first time I heard it I was in tears. No other song before this one had ever affected me like this. No other song had a message that I could fully relate to. Basically MSG is my Outside, Looking In, CTTA, and Petals.

Brenda Kaplan "Starr" (85,701) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Apparently she posted this video on social media over a week ago where she was expressing how she thought it was nice that Kelly Clarkson acknowledged her on The Voice. Now that in itself is not bad at all, but what irked me was how she said it in the context of her being upset and tired of the remarks of some bashers (likely Lambs) who were saying she's still bitter about Mariah's success. It was quite defensive, shady and frankly, pathetic how affected she was. Watched that and I was like, okay hold up.

1. Where the hell is all this bitterness coming from? Mind you, this rant of hers was juxtaposed with her stating how she loves her career and her kids. Really hun?

2. Just so we're all clear, her not being able to live up to her stage name was a confluence of many factors that were beyond anyone's control, and no one should ever really have to drag Mariah into any conversation about her career not taking off. And most importantly,

3. Kelly Clarkson did not actually acknowledge Brenda, she basically was saying that she knew Mariah's humble beginnings, saying, "Brenda K. Starr, yeah, I've read it all" or something to that effect, playfully cutting Mariah's story of how she started and then they both laughed. That is not acknowledgment. If anything, that's just another expression of how much Kelly admires and loves Mariah, being aware of her journey and all.

At this point, Brenda should just be thankful she still has supporters. It's unfortunate enough that her career has been reduces to a trivia question that could pop up on any gameshow just like Andrew Ridgeley (but at least Andrew was one half of Wham). And her defensiveness has just proved all her haters right.

Mariah told me to tell you: "Hey, I see you up there." She's been sending you the royalties for your sample, but you seemed to have moved or something.

Re: Brenda K Starr mad Tommy / Mariah destroyed her? (85,660) (85,699) by Tijl from Belgium
Nobody ruined Brenda's career. She could have received the whole MC treatment under Sony's supervision and still she wouldn't be a huge star. She is the conversation compared to Mariah's press conference.
