Re: Emotionless (83,097) (83,106) by Bill from the UK
Hmmmm. If she had actually re-sung her part for the song then maybe you could dress it up as "Drake feat Mariah", but she didn't and it is nothing more than a sample. We didn't have Mariah feat. Tom Tom Club, Mariah feat. Treacherous 3, Mariah feat. Stacey Lattishaw etc. and she sampled those songs so heavily she was simply singing her melody over the original backing track.

I Still Believe (83,105) by Ethan from United States
I agree with you all that she should have gone back to the studio and re-recorded the song to fit her current tone/voice. I wonder if it's the last minute decision to switch out CTTA and perform ISB with no preparation. It's unfortunate that it made the show less successful and not coherent. Her ISB performance on the Billboard Music Awards (BMA) was nowhere near and didn't sound anything like the album version at all but it was a great live performance and considered one of the best performances on BMA. I feel like you either go back to the studio and layer vocals/mix all the songs like Britney's team did or try to sing live over playback background vocals at much as possible. I hope the 2nd leg will be better with change/improvement as I plan to see it in September.

Re: Wise Girls 2 (83,098) (83,103) by B from USA
Glitter was never going to work. Mariah, the director, and the studio didn't share the same vision and the film suffered as a result. Mariah's performance is far from the worst part of the movie, a movie (and soundtrack) that was never going to work. The soundtrack is an example of Mariah being ahead of the times. However, she redeemed herself as an actress with Wise Girls, Tennessee, Precious, and The Butler.

The Tresor Rare store at the Fayette mall is basicall a shrine to Mariah. I have photos but I don't know how to upload them on here.

The Butterfly Returns (83,101) by B from USA
Mariah looks amazing and relaxed in the recent photos she uploaded to her social media accounts. She looks better than she has in years, she looks like she did at the beginning of the E=MC2 era.

Scene 1 - A lowly French fan, we will call "Jedouardo" is at a Mariah concert in Paris, clutching his Mariah doll whilst his carer guides him to the front of the stage. Suddenly...

I applaud that everyone is fed up with the ten-percenting and shite vocals. However. I was pointing this out about 5 years ago to screams of "hater". My, how times have changed.

Wise Girls 2 (83,098) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I read another post about suggestion of Mariah doing Glitter 2. But I would say what about Mariah doing sequel to Wise Girls instead? The plot could be just like this: Detective kate (Melora) is assigned a task to infiltrate a drug ring in a restaurant (or whatever) and she requested the help of Meg (Mira) and Raychel (Mariah) to bust the criminals, in exchange of the crime they both committed in the past. So this could be like Charlie's Angels kind of movie. The movie could also be for tv movie, just like what Mariah did for her Christmas Hallmark channel.

Emotionless (83,097) by B from USA
Mariah should be considered the featured guest on this song/single. Her vocals are so prominent and front and center that she deserves a guest credit. She sings more on Emotionless that Rhianna did on Live Your Life and Love The Way You Lie.

Re: She uh have nice gowns - Aretha (83,089) (83,096) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Yeah, I guess I get upset too. Haha. But yeah, that last thing you mentioned, that's actually one of the biggest reasons why her current state disappoints me so much. I think many of you don't know this, and I have mentioned it a few times on this board before - in our country (and in fact most of East and Southeast Asia) we are still pretty hardcore Mariah fans when it comes to loyalty and support, and that especially shows every time she releases new material. The Philippines and its neighboring countries are usually the first ones where Mariah hits #1. In our country, Mariah is just as revered as Celine (Whitney is too but just not to the same degree) to the point that she is still considered the ultimate (caps) vocal goddess, which explains why we have a lot of female singers who can pretty much mimic almost every run she does on her most difficult songs (see Lead The Way by Kyla or Jona or maybe Through the Rain or Never Too Far which I also assume they have done covers of). Regine Velasquez, Nina, Morisette Amon, the list goes on. They all can sing current day or even late 90s Mariah under the table when it comes to effortlessness, fluidity and power. Sure, they're younger and they will never really ever have Mariah's tone (though Kyla comes close to Mariah's breathy coos), but some of them, have been in the industry for a long time and still can sing like they have during their prime such as Regine (about the same age as Mariah and has been in the industry longer) and Kyla started in 2001 and still sounds exactly like she did back then. But I'm gonna say this again, these wannabes have nothing on Mariah in terms of overall musicianship, songwriting and most especially that unique vocal tone, but I fear that this won't be the case for the last one for long, especially not with her mostly forced, unpleasant or uncomfortable current sound. Couple that with her current lifestyle choices, ego and stubbornness and we have a recipe for an accelerated vocal decline.

Re: She uh have nice gowns - Aretha (83,081) (83,093) by Bill from the UK
You're so right. The thing is, you can, in a way, overlook a pre-record if she genuinely went back into the studio in order to use current vocals for it. A part of me would say, well, at least she put some effort into the damn thing and I get it, she has nodules, her ears have nodules, the band have nodules, everybody has effing nodules. I swear, if I see the word "nodules" one more time in the YouTube comments, I will scream. And yes, she's preserving her voice. She's been preserving it since 1997. It ain't gonna get any more preserved girl. Plus the amount she's pickled it with alcohol it should theoretically be in pristine condition. But, to stand there and mime (lip sync is even too good a term to use at this point) to the album version is an absolute insult to everybody who has paid money to go and see her. Surely you are within your rights for a refund due to the fact she has literally sang 10% of the concert live. And that 10% was atrocious, flat, unpleasant to the ear, and out of tune. What a shambles. What an absolute shambles.

So cool you got to see Miss Ross.
I don't entirely agree the fans are too hard on Mariah. If people are disappointed in her and how she's handling her shows, they're going to be. It's just going over and over ithe argument doesn't change anything and for me is rather futile.

Oh wow. I feel like someone saw this post and told Mimi to alternately switch between CTTA and ISB. So she finally did ISB on Tuesday 7/10. Unfortunately, it wasn't all live. Hopefully, they will include WYB in addition to Hero for the encore.

You're welcome. I knew real lambs would appreciate her flawless and convincing live performance of ISB haha. Mariah had been fidgeting with her ear monitor for years, maybe to give people the impression she's singing live.

This is honestly the first time I've seen you this riled up. Lol. You're usually the level-headed one, but this time I can feel that you've had enough of her non-sense haha. For us fans who have lived and breathed her music for years - yes, it is a huge insult to our intellect and sensibilities when she does something like that in her shows. We don't really expect her to sing like she did in the 90s, but I wish she'd put effort in her lip synching or work on her voice somehow. It's pretty hard to watch her now. How can we defend her when she's making it too easy for her non-fans to criticise her? I wish she'd do a full-on Celine in her concerts - do pre recordings and perfect her lip synching. Please Mariah. Please Mariah enablers, make her do it. Good luck to her in her Philippines concert, I've seen videos of Filipinos who can sing the eff off of her songs and I hate it. Haha.

It's infuriating to see Mariah perform a song like ISB, and completely lip sync it. She can easily sing that song, even with her voice in its current state. It's lazy and an insult to fans.

Ear monitor fidgeting (83,084) by Randy from USA
Have ya'll noticed how much MC fidgets with her earpieces during a performance. It's funny because most of the time she's not even singing. Like what do you need to hear the pre-recorded track louder for? Does she really think we'll think she's singing live because she's fidgeting with technical equipment? 90s Mariah thanks for posting that clip of ISB. She sings two notes and then it's the album track while she fidgets with her ear. I'm starting to think there's a little gnome that lives in the ridges of her inner ear that lives off of earwax and says Yaaassss for the prerecorded vocals. I've seen so many artist sing with those monitors in their ears. Christina. Pink. Mary J. Kelly Clarkson. They sing live all the time and don't touch their ears. Oh wait. Here comes the Calvary of excuses. Her ears are sensitive because she didn't get enough sleep. Her ears are very nuanced and she can hear in other ways other artists can't. Her ears are sensitive when she's in a room full of smoke. Her ears are sensitive because the room was at room temperature. I you MC but you ain't foolin us.

Re: Criticizing Mariah / other divas and fans (83,075) (83,083) by Special K from USA
I just saw Diana Ross in concert at the Hollywood Bowl and she sang 100% live. Girl let me tell you at the age of 73 Ms. Ross rocked the house and shut it down. Now does Ms. Ross sound the same as she did when she was in in her 20's, 30's, even 40's? Of course not but damn at least she can still sing, hold a damn note and her showmanship and charisma on stage is absolutely impeccable. I just don't buy the arguement that we fans are too hard on Mariah and the standards are way too high. Nobody in their right mind would expect Mariah to sound like she did in 90's. What we do expect is a better than average 100% live vocal performance without all of the smoke and mirrors. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Re: Who's a singer? (83,078) (83,082) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Exactly. My understanding of singing, as someone who has been a part of many choirs in the past, is that if you wanna sound good, no matter what environment you're in, then there's only one approach - give it your all, period.
