Re: This message board is sad (84,679) (84,699)

I don't find Andrew's comments on this board offensive or out of place. In fact, its largely how I feel as well. I visit this site like most of you regularly because it's a haven for Mariah's last remaining fans to congregate and expressive their opinions about MC. Personally, if this site became a biased one-sided forum where everyone was just praising her, while she continues to churn out lackluster material, I would leave in a heartbeat. I believe you can still love an artist while being critical as well. I wish some of you would re-direct some of your anger from Andrew and place it onto Mariah's output. If she retired and never sang again, I wouldn't fault her because she's not selling you smoke and mirrors. My issue is that if you're going to be an active recording artist and sell music and perform shows, then you need to actually sing. Anything other than that is fraudulent and should be called out. If Andrew didn't care, he wouldn't bother to even post anything. Andrew if you're reading this, pay some of these people dust. I enjoy your messages and look forward to everyone respecting each other's opinion even if you don't always agree.

I do agree that it might be to much negativity here, but I think the reason why, is because people know what she is capable of doing. I'm for sure like that. I'm not sure that she believes in her self anymore and that that insecure ends up in trying to look pretty or sexy. I don't understand the choices she takes musically. What's her intention and in what direction is she going? The discussion would be much better if people (me included) just focus on the topic and don't attack each other on a personal level. I'm just glad I'll be at her Christmas concert this year.

I love this board (84,697)
by Lexingz from Estonia

I have read all the different opinions about negative and positive posts and criticism and allowing this or that this board. I feel like we need to chill and let the moderator do his/her job. (Which one is it? Honest question.) I personally feel that the negative commentators take the brunt of the emotional work that the "nice" fans refuse to do. I choose to be moderately positive in my comments but I can also be honest with myself and admit that I agree with most of the negative comments to some extent. Bottom line is, I would hate for this board to become all "slay kween" and "skinny legend did it again" (you all know what I mean). This is why in my opinion we should allow the black sheep to say what they need to say.
When I get tired of the bickering I just leave. But I always know that I can come back here to discuss the singer I will probably love most in my lifetime, with people who actually care and know what they are talking about. And it might as well be that this is one of the few places where Mariah can hear the unfiltered, honest opinions of some of her most dedicated fans who say here what they would never say to her face.

I wasn’t impressed and it was nothing spectacular. However, with the bar being so low due to many performances in the past few years being so bad, it feels like she has to at least be given a B just for the performance not being a hot mess.

It has to be "Lead the way" for me, flawless. And then "Anytime you need a friend" dance mix, love the power and slightly jazzy feel to her vocals, and that she put the effort in to the remix.

I never thought I'd see the day when the press/media is praising MC and the fans are ripping her apart. Major publications such as Rolling Stones are raving about the performance as well as general public. I'm at lost for words.

Why he's allowed to post messages that violate the rules of the board while others get banned is beyond me. He should've been banned when the infamous YouTube troll Isaac Ortiz was. Like Isaac, Andrew thrives on drama and creating division. Mariah's AMA performance had the intended effect, it has people talking. Like Mariah herself some love it and some hate it. Did she sing the entire song live? Most likely not. However, she lipped convincingly and when she did sing she delivered.

On a positive (I can do it sometimes), the choreography and staging was very impressive for a Mariah Carey performance. Tanaka is obviously very good at what he does. He took a statue and made something of a beautiful flower around it. Ten out of ten.

Heaven forfend people from being offended, right? I made the comment to make a point. My name is probably the most used as a subject title on this board. I have been called everything under the sun and been criticized, mocked etc. And you know what? I can take it because I understand I am critical and "brutal" in my position (a word I think was probably quite apt). But people better be able to take it back and understand that social justice group hierarchies do not bother me. That is, you don't get to go for someone then moralize that their response wasn't within rules that you have, yourself, decided. I didn't see anybody getting upset for big-fore headed people of the world when mine was (albeit quite comically) mocked, and so on. You can call someone old or a queen and that's okay, right? Age discrimination and sexual orientation discrimination is okay. Don't waste my time. At the heart of this, I am essentially [censored] off with Mariah ruining her last chance at anything great, so this feels like the last stand. Whether it is or not I do not know yet. But people can continue to come for me, and I couldn't care less. My opinions are my own (I believe I speak for some others) and I will make them until either I get so [censored] off with Mariah's nonsense I give up or I get kicked off this board. But I can tell you that Mariah's spokesperson instantly turning her into a victim is ridiculous and misplaced. People are literally begging for Mariah to write good music and, above all else, sing it. I want nothing less and nothing more. It's her bloody job. But she does not sing. She doesn't even try. What you saw was a statue pitiably perform by moving a left arm around. Crash test dummies are more animated. I agree with Adam that an honest interview should take place. If this is the future I can assure you I will likely not be around much longer. And I feel assured, perhaps arrogantly or perhaps just logically, that if someone like me gives up, her career is over. Send in the clowns.

AMAs (84,680)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I was so deeply disappointed by the performance. We're not talking about pre-recorded or dubbed vocals here. We're talking her literally standing still on stage, singing the first little run live, and then just sticking the main studio vocals over the music. Mariah, your voice was fine in iHeart Festival. Your voice was completely fine in that first line. We all know you could do it. This is her laziest performance to date. I don't even know if this could be considered a performance. I could handle 3 takes of the performance pieced together. I could handle partially pre-recorded performances. But this one? Damn Mariah, this is the most wack shit you've done this year. Anyone could stand there, look pretty and mime to the mic. I sincerely hope her team is working to clean up this mess because chief, this ain't it.

Wow, I had a few years off this message board, because I didn't need the negative comments, but wow, this message board is now a place to tear Mariah down. And Andrew, how you've evolved into a disgraceful part of this community. Do you treat other people in your life this way? I'll take Mariah's current voice over your negative outlook on life every day. I'm not less disappointed that Mariah's voice is in the shape it is, but no singer gives me the feeling she does, especially when listening to 90's Mariah. Haven't any of you lost some abilities just because you have gotten older? Do people around you then humiliate you in such way that it almost sounds evil? It sounds as if your happiness is depended on Mariah's singing abilities. I'm glad I still have the ability to still enjoy her presence.

It's sad that this has become a place of negativity and just general hate bashing now. If you don't like the direction Mariah is going, then please close the door and lose the key. There's nothing stopping you from leaving and just enjoy the happy memories you have of 90's Mariah, instead of continuously bashing her now and tarnishing the happy times you're desperate to have again. Buh bye.

In Andrew's defence, and not that he needs me fighting his corner or anything, he's been called a lot worse by people on here. It's a message board, put it in perspective. We're all clearly very highly strung following the AMAs, let's all relax. So. What's your favourite remix?
