Beacon Theater, December 4 (79,660) by Edward from USA
I have to simply say that Mariah was great last night. I'm so proud of her. The show was a little simpler in terms of what was happening on stage compared to the first show I went to in 2015, but this time Mariah was more alive and confident. She was radiant and looked happy. She is not as skinny as some people might think from those pictures online, but she's definitely slimming down, she now looks great, a woman with some volume, and she even have some well rounded junk in her five-star trunk. She gave us just the right dose of diva here and there, and the interaction with her fans was great, especially with a fan that was wearing a lamb costume that caught her attention from the beginning. He was having a drink or something, and she asked him: What are you drinking? and he said: a splash, lol. Mariah was more present. I was paying close attention and I didn't detect any lipping. If she did it, at least she learned how to lip to perfection, but I have to tell you guys, watching a clip online could be very deceiving. Mariah dodged a few notes here and there, but she did it in a way that it wasn't like she tried and fail, but rather that she didn't go there. Dem babies came when it was their time to do their part, but they behaved nicely, thank God, Monroe is adorable with her pose, she's like a little princess and in not way a mini Mariah in terms of how she was dresses and behaves. This time around I watched without having people blocking my view or any distractions, and the woman can still put on hell of a show. Her whistles were crisp and effortless. Seeing her happy, present, and enjoying her concert made me really happy to be a fan.

Re: Lipped "Star" performance? (79,640) (79,659) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I loved it. The "lipped" debate is so overdone at this point that people genuinely do not give her credit when she is singing live. Lol.

The performance isn't fully live. Most of it were live, but there is still lip sync. This, however, doesn't have anything to do with her not being able to hit the notes (side-eyes Andrew). The proof is that Mariah could sing phrases with higher notes compared to the lipped lines in the performance itself. Her problem is more with confidence and breath control. The chorus isn't demanding range-wise for Mariah, but the line's pretty much continuous. It's more of a breath control problem, really. Either way, she sounds absolutely delightful, especially in the very end of the performance. Very smooth, buttery tone, and beautiful vibrato all throughout as well

Thank you for posting. When this song got released I liked it, but I felt it was too simple. After seeing and hearing her sing it live I realized she finally recorded a song in a way that's easier for her to sing live. I really appreciate that. Anyway sounded live and great to me. *shrugs*

Wonder why he recorded it in the first place then. I remember I used to be on the MariahCarey.com message board at the time. Also remember buying a bunch of TTR singles and distributing them in the mall to a few baffled people.

I sure was all in my feelings when you shaded my beloved CB. You are just disrespectful Special K. Lol I agree about You Had Your Chance. She utilized the heck out of that sample and came up with a great song. I really enjoy the end when she's singing the chorus in her whistle register. The song just works on so many levels.

Lol, good to see you have since of humor and don't take things too seriously on this board. You know Special K can be extra sometimes. Especially when it comes to Butterfly. I love Charmbracelet though. You Had Your Chance doesn't get enough love so I'm going to give that song a big slobbery kiss and hug.

The guys at this YouTube channel have created this awesome remix of Looking In. They have made it sound very contemporary and fresh. Give it a listen, the short version starts around 7:21.

If this is true I'm glad she declined. What sense would it have made to release the song at that time? Makes about as much sense as those added MOAIA tracks being put on the last album.

AIWFCIY re-enters (79,650) by darrian liu from taiwan
It's back in the Hot 100 at #21, it's highest debut to date. There is a real chance of it actually cracking the top 10, as her streaming numbers this year are phenomenal. It's currently #5 in the Spotify USA chart, #11 in the iTunes USA chart and #9 in YouTube insights for USA. For overall sales in the US, AIWFCIY is at #20, which is pretty good. With it gaining on all metrics consistently throughout December, by Christmas we will have a top 10 peak this year. I can't wait to see that happen.

Matty, I agree. Glad to hear other people respecting others opinions in regards to what they personally think and feel.

Mariah is seeming happier lately (79,648) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
There's an energy with her right now that I haven't witnessed in ages. It's lovely to see. Wishing the best for her.

Butterfly, Charmbracelet and Memoirs are her most lyrically superior albums IMO. She has master lyrics on all three of these albums.

Interesting re: Justin not wanting to be associated with Mariah at the time. Justin has been one shady b*tch towards a few of music's female legends. He throws Janet under the bus and blames her for nipplegate at the Superbowl (which we know changed the trajectory of her career forever). Despite Mariah reigning supreme for 10 solid years prior, he thinks after she has one bad year, he's too good for her, and of course we all know how he threw all of his and Britney's laundry on the public line, and blamed her for their break up. Tisk tisk JT, never underestimate women's power.

Haha. Just my thoughts. I don't think any other albums of hers paint pictures with the lyrics that way Butterfly and CB do.

Whoa, you really think Charmbracelet is up there lyrically with Butterfly? Boy please. Leave the faded juice alone.

I would also like to hear the "Yours" version with JT. But I remember the same thing like Licia said. At that time, Justin didn't want to release/promote the song as a featuring guest because Mariah seemed not so "hip" after the Glitter thing. Oh "little" Justin was so wrong with this decision, not nice from him. So I understand while Mariah ruled the charts with TEOM again, she didn't feel the need to release the version. Charmbracelet will always be a special album for me. The often mentioned lyrics are pure Mariah, they are so poetic. "Lullaby", "Yours", "I only wanted", "Clown" and "Bringin' on the heartbreak" are my favorites. And I love the message of "Trough the rain".

Re: Charmbracelet at 15 (79,637) (79,641) by Bill from the UK
At the time the whispering was annoying. I remember on first listen getting about two thirds through the album and getting very hacked off. That had never happened previously (or since). As the years have dragged by, I now appreciate it on a different level. Lyrically it is up there with Butterfly. It’s got some duds like Boy and some filler, but on the main it’s a good cohesive body of work.

Lipped "Star" performance? (79,640) by Chicago Lamb from USA
Did some negative [censored] here claim Mariah lipped her performance of "The Star" during Beacon's opening night? Receipts say otherwise (webmaster please hyperlink).

Re: Lila have you been living under a rock? (79,633) (79,639) by Hilton from USA
Sometimes it's better to just focus on the music. That's all I'm gonna say. All the added stuff outside of the music mixed in with opinions most of the time gets to this. It's the holiday season. She looks great, she's sounding good and she looks super happy. Can we say amen to that?

I read somewhere that Justin or his team suggested Yours be included on the reissue of TEOM and Mariah politely declined.

Re: Charmbracelet at 15 (79,631) (79,637) by B from USA
Charmbracelet would have done better if she had actually sang instead of whispered. The One, I Only Wanted, My Saving Grace, Lullaby, You Had Your Chance, Subtle Invitation, Clown, and Sunflowers are some of her best songs. Your story is similar to my friend Patty's. Charmbracelet is her favorite Mariah album and was her first Mariah album.

I think she did cool sculpting which is an FDA-approved non-surgical fat reduction treatment. Plus she's exercising and rehearsing. She looks amazing. She hasn't looked this good since 2008 or 2013.
