Re: Mariah Carey is "considering baring all" (82,415) (82,419) by RibbonB from USA
I agree, this is fake news, but they were alluding to the drinking and high calorie in take as the reasons for the alleged surgery.

Article: Mariah Carey is "considering baring all" in a naked shoot (82,418) by Chicago Lamb from USA
That has got to be fake news. No way Roc-Nation is recommending a nude photo shoot. Personally speaking as a long time fan, this endeavor would prove fruitless.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,409) (82,417) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
As I was still in high school when TEOM came out, I had very limited budget and bought it on cassette. I always liked It's Like That but I have to admit I wasn't instantly sold on We Belong Together - I think that just shows how fresh that sound was for her because to me it was a bit disorienting (especially the song structure, where the first verse is different from the second and the absence of a middle-eight) after having gotten used to the standard Mariah fair for so long. I remember loving Mine Again, Say Somethin', Circles, Your Girl, I Wish You Knew and Fly Like A Bird from the get go. Everything else kind of grew on me, except One And Only, which is still the song I play least from the album. Say Somethin' was very interesting because it had so much of The Neptunes' influence - the thumping, clattering beats, the somewhat strange melodies/harmonies. Mine Again and Your Girl stood out as well for their beautifully oversung, impossible-to-replicate-live-under-normal-circumstances vocals. Still, I knew from first listen that it was her strongest set since Butterfly. She definitely had arrived. It was palpable that she had something to prove - it was almost as if she was starting over again. It was a glorious period, probably the proudest time to be a lamb just because of how much she was able to overcome.

Re: My thoughts on Stella (82,412) (82,416) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Truest thing I've read all day. What's great about Mariah's situation today is that everything is kept hush-hush once again, just like the old days. Mariah did a lot of stupid s*** during "Stella's reign of terra" but Mariah's World was the biggest red flag of all. Any manager who tries to upstage the artist they manage for the whole world to see is really in it for themselves. There was a great line uttered by Rachel on the season 2 of unReal - "We don't solve problems; we point cameras at them" or something to that effect. That is unfortunately exactly what Mariah let Stella do during that dark period. Thankfully that's over and Mariah-related news since Stella got fired has been predominantly positive. The only disgusting negative ones involve, well, Stella - no surprise there. She is like negativity in human form. Like a personal raincloud that follows you around always casting a dark shadow on everything. As if we ever needed any more confirmation of this - but Stella-era Mariah and current Mariah are like night and day.

Mariah Carey is "considering baring all" (82,415) by Licia from USA
First of all did noone at The Sun notice before they printed the article that they said Mariah had two different surgeries? Lol. Second of all there's no way she's having a calorie fest because with having either of those surgeries if she's not continuing to eat right or exercise the weight will pile back on. Third of all the whole naked thing isn't news. The only time her baring it all would be shocking is if she went full Playboy bunny spread eagle. I honestly don't believe she'll do that. Throw that whole article away.

Maxwell, yes. There were rumors about that a few years ago. He tweeted something alluding to a possible song already done or in the works. Still wonder whatever happened to that.

My thoughts on Stella (82,412) by Dove from United States
After watching Mariah's World here are my thoughts on Stella: It rubbed me the wrong way the way she talked about the assistant and the dancer who didn't want to ride on the same bus with Mary Ann's son. The way she said, "It's a job, just do the dance and shut up." Or something like that. I feel like she didn't value him or the assistant and saw them as less than her. I don't agree with that. I feel like it creates a hostile work environment and adds unnecessary stress. Or when Mary Ann was venting about the situation and after she left Stella said something about Mariah being the least high maintenance out of everyone. I think everyone's concerns were valid and she could have handled them better. She made a drama out of things that weren't that serious and talked down to almost everyone. The staff had to resort to going directly to Mariah because Stella was such a b*tch when one of her roles was to manage these types of situations so Mariah wouldn't have to worry about them. In a business I believe every person is a part of the team and the show runs better when employees are valued and treated with common courtesy and respect.
Another thing that annoyed me was when she wrote all over the white bed linen with makeup. Even after Mariah asked her to stop. She was pressing so hard too, as if she were angry. To me this shows she's not a person of character because she has no regard for people who she deems as less than herself, such as the person who would have to get that makeup out. She's probably one of those people we see at Target who sees a shirt on the floor but instead of picking it up they drive over it with their cart.
Also, the situation with the picture her daughter took. To her it was more important that it went viral than the fact that it was trashy and her client was uncomfortable with it. After watching Mariah's World, I'm glad MC severed ties with Stella. Mariah Carey deserves a manager with class who can communicate with employees with authority without being nasty and unprofessional.

I am crossing my fingers with this new era that we finally get an original male duet. I would love to see a Maxwell collaboration. It is long overdue. Maybe one with the new neo soul singer Daniel Ceasar or hip hop crooner August Alsina or versatile Childish Gambino. MC is so particular who she collaborates with. She has to really feel the artist and like their energy. Thus, in 2015 we got #Beautiful with Miguel. No more cover songs in this era though.

It's A&B, see? (82,410) by Andrew from UK
TEOM on the first listen was brilliant as it was a new sound and banging - until side B, so to speak, where it was the usual cooing R&B filler. The sequel was the same: the B-side was a remarkably different record to the A-side. Memoirs was all side B but MIAMLGBTQ had an A-side and a B-side just with resequencing (mostly side B before A, give or take). Mariah should keep it short and sweet with attitude and pump and no filler. Thus, as I think many fans want, a ten track album would suffice. A thousand Mariah's cooing over slow-jam-sex-synths was never one of her signature sounds and nothing anybody anywhere was really asking of her. A bit like her blowing up her titties and taking her clothes off. Nobody wanted it. Except for maybe my older brothers. And they haven't bought anything of hers in fifteen years. Funny that.

I remember I had just bought my first iPod and the CD. I went to my friends house to upload it onto my iPod as I didn't have a computer. While it was uploading we listened to ILT, my friend liked it, I didn't think much. Then WBT came on, and I was not impressed. This was not another Hero, Butterfly etc. With its quick style of singing. We stopped there as the CD had uploaded onto my iPod and my friend wasn't a Mariah fan. I ran home to listen to the rest, it was all a bit meh for me until Stay the Night. I was blown away and suddenly got the vibe of the album. By the time Joy Ride came on I was thrilled, she was back. I still love Stay the Night and Joyride above all. I can't wait to listen to MC15.

Wasn't it only Rainbow that had interludes, and two of them at that? Memoirs then had them. Maybe I'm forgetting in my old age. Janet has them as every other song virtually. I remember when Say Somethin' leaked and I was somewhat underwhelmed as it felt like an extension of Charmbracelet. Then To the Floor leaked (but as "Tonight"), and I felt it was great, but not single material. Finally when I heard It's Like That, sang in full voice with a clever lyric and reference to Run DMC I thought she was onto a winner. Can't believe it didn't do better than it did stateside. Then I heard the rest of the album and knew she was back and would have success. Didn't quite predict WBT's extended run at the top, but what a vindication if ever one was needed.

Re: Memoirs (82,404) (82,405) by T from USA
Memoirs wasn't a very particularly happy time in Mariah's life. Sure her relationship with Nick was still strong (that we know of) but she was having pregnancy issues and even had a miscarriage which lead to the making of the record. I find Memoirs a cross between Butterfly and Rainbow. However Rainbow had way more features as Memoirs has none. I think it's a smooth R&B album and maybe could've benefited from 12 tracks instead of 14 plus interludes. I would've love if Skydiving produced by Timbaland was somehow incorporated. Anyway I love Memoirs and it was nice to get an album every year of 2008, 2009, 2010, like the old days.

Re: Memoirs (82,388) (82,404) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I personally have a weird relationship with MOAIA. I love some of its songs (Candy Bling, Ribbon, It's A Wrap, Angels Cry) and really like most of the rest (Betcha Gon' Know, H.A.T.E.U., Up Out My Face, The Impossible, Languishing) and yet somehow, despite it being one the most cohesive-sounding albums Mariah has put out (maybe too cohesive for its own good), I'm not really fond of listening to it as a whole. There was a time it was referred to as Butterfly part 2 and that still somehow irks me to this day (it always seemed more akin to Rainbow). It's not a bad album. It's just not a very good Mariah album. But I understand it holds its moment in time, and Mariah was actually happy during this period, so it really tells much about her talent that she was able to churn out a very convincing breakup record.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,397) (82,403) by BMP from indonesia
TEOM is an album featuring Mariah Carey as Mimi. Not Mariah Carey who is like Whitney or Mariah Carey who is like Janet. Sorry to say that. When I listen "Mariah Carey" to "Music Box", the formula is similar to the concept of Whitney's album. While "Daydream" is a transitional album. Then from "Butterfly" to "Chambracelled" [sic], the concept began like a Janet Jackson album. Characterized by the emergence of many interludes between songs that trademarks Janet Jackson. That's why TEOM is a very powerful album. Conceptually neat, every song is the best that Carey's throat can produce. Plus the full support of collaborators and LA Reid (executive producer / label). TEOM is an album that I'm sure most proud for Mariah Carey. I feel it. Mariah Carey with her thinner voice than usual, yet feels more soulful than ever. More technically difficult, but feels much more humane.

Memoirs / TEOM (82,402) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Memoirs is an ode to 90’s R&B but to be honest the production makes the album stale very quickly. Now for me TEOM was a true return to form for M in every way musically and commercially the force that was M in the 90’s was back where she belonged on top. That era was truly a blessing for M herself and the fans who knew her greatness throughout the years.

My first impression was that the album was a return to form for Mariah. The album showcased Mariah's talents as a singer, songwriter, and producer and seamlessly updated her signature sound. I loved It's Like That and We Belong Together, I knew from the first listen that WBT was going to be Mariah's next #1. I also loved Shake It Off, Mine Again, Stay The Night, Circles, One & Only, If You Only Knew, Your Girl and Fly Like A Bird. I was underwhelmed by Mariah's collaborations with The Neptunes. When I first listened to To The Floor I thought the label had mistakened JD for Nelly, lol. Say Somethin' grew on me eventually but TTF never did.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,393) (82,397) by Terna from Nigeria
My first impression was when I bought the album on the 8th of April 2005, and spent the rest of the weekend listening to it and even then I could tell that album was gonna bring Mariah back to the top. By the time We Belong Together started playing I recall saying out loud when the chorus hit "she's singing again" ). Her voice being front and center on the Emancipation album was what I noticed immediately. Lord knows Charmbracelet though lyrically strong was vocally disappointing. So it was shocking to hear "the voice" back in all its glory, unapologetically, powerful sustains and all. Then the production, just wow. Jermaine at his best, Kanye at his best. Big Jim Wright too. A well put together, well sequenced body of work that has never left my playlist. When I got my first smartphone guess which album I purchased first from iTunes? Yeah that's right "The Emancipation of Mariah Carey".
