Billboard always likes to hype things up when a song reahes the 10 week mark but I doubt Despacito would reach OSD let alone break its record. I agree with you about Rihanna's later albums. Unapologetic and Anti are really good. I do like her even though she can never hold a candle to Mariah. And I also can't deny that her signing is improving. Her live performances have come a long way since the time she first "sang" (destroyed) Hero on stage. I know having more #1's than Mariah won't make her better in any sense. But Mariah holding the record is also a reminder of what the charts used to be about: good music and talent. I hope M never loses her records of 18 #1's and 16 weeks.

Everytime I hear that Michael was killed (which we always knew) so these fools could cash in on it, it just hurts and angers me more and more. I mean this was always suspected but with the evidence, it just makes it more real and it pisses me off so much because this man did not deserve this. He deserved to live a long happy life, with his beautiful children and possibly away from the spotlight, if that's even possible for a man at the level of fame that he was on. Such a kind, generous man, who gave his all to bring entertainment in to the lives of millions around the world, for multiple decades. This is why I get frustrated with Mariah too because I see parallels, I feel like she trusts the wrong people like Michael did. She has isolated herself like Michael did and she only has her babies, who are too young to know better. She also seems over worked now (people can laugh all they want at the "Honey" video that went viral recently but she just looks resigned and tired to me). She has been booked on stuff below her status. I just hope she gets out of this, takes some time off with her babies and if she feels later that she wants to continue with show business then do so, or just live your life away from the spotlight, no need to please anyone.

Hi Edward. It was a great movie. We discussed it here when it came out. I ended up doing some research and discovered Michael was murdered by the leeches around him. Ignore the spirit mumbo jumbo in the video and just read documentation she provides. Michael was killed by AEG for the insurance money. They booked him for 50 shows behind his back. It was a plot between the president of AEG, Michael's old manager who was fired in March of 09 because he didn't trust him and kept him from the outside world, who magically appeared on he day of his death to "speak on Michael's behalf". He was added to the insurance policy the day before his death. Dr Murray, whose job was to keep feeding Michael's addictions and reduce his health, the old Sony manager who magically "resurfaced" right before his death. That's why Latoya said in an interview that Dr Murray was just the fall guy that there were other involved. Do you remember the interview where Mariah said her and Michael had a conversation about dying before their time because many famous stars do, it's sad. You should watch the video I posted. It shows all the emails from AEG that got leaked, contracts and insurance polices, false testimonies that don't line up with the actual time line (they all admit they knew he wasn't breathing as they all called each other around 10:30am, but an ambulance wasn't called until 12:22pm once he was good and dead unfortunately). That's why Michael's mom sued AEG. This all sounds very familiar to Mariah's current situation.

Haha. You're right, Mariah sings the same song a thousand different ways using a thousand different melodical improvisations making every performance different, fresh and unique. Vegas is an example of that. She's always full of surprises.

Despacito (77,283)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I've grown so tired of this song. I'm also a tiny bit worried for OSD's record, but then so many other songs have been dubbed to be the one to break its record (Uptown Funk, Blurred Lines, I Gotta Feeling, Closer, etc etc) but no one has passed the 14-week mark so far. I'm actually rooting for Wild Thoughts, because well, I like Rihanna. Not her catalogue, but the songs from her latest album, Anti, has been pretty enjoyable (especially Love On the Brain, such a soulful, old-school, classy song). Praying that someone would release a mega-hit to dethrone Despacito (was rooting for Bruno to rebound to no. 1 either with TWIL or Versace on the Floor, but it's pretty unrealistic). Or maybe, Stella could use whatever voodoo she used on Mariah to be able to leech off her, to get I Don't to no. 1.

Features or not if an artist is credited on a song, and the song goes to #1, it will be counted as their #1. So Rihanna for now has a total of 14 #1's. Like in Mariah's case, "Heartbreaker" counts as a #1 for both Mariah and Jay-Z, "OSD" will count for both Mariah and Boyz II Men.

"Searching For Neverland" was pretty good and I agree, they kept the shock factor completely away and instead focused on showing the real Michael, something his friends and family always describe him as but the GP didn't know. They show the real person that Michael was instead of the larger than life persona, which was nice.

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking, because if you go on Billboard and search Rihanna's discography she only has 11 #1s I believe and the rest are features, so is that really breaking her record? I'd rather [see] Despacito get off the #1 because that's a record Mariah could keep for a long time if Despacito doesn't break it, and plus if you saw that video Justin doesn't even know the lyrics and kept saying "dorito burrito poquito". The disrespect. I'll let it slide though because he and Riri are both lambs but I'm getting worried for her records right now. [Webmaster: Next time, could you start a sentence with a capital? And the same with names like Billboard, Mariah, Justin, Despacito etc?]

This is not related to Mariah, but I just watched "Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland" and I'm actually surprised and pleased at how they showed a Michael Jackson many people didn't know about. The story is told from recounts of his bodyguards who used to be close to him, and it's actually very believable. They could've gone for the controversial Michael Jackson image, but instead the story is told with grace and, in my opinion, with honesty. I hope they could show Mariah in this light while she's still with us.

Re: Mariah Carey drama series based on her life (77,277) (77,278)

Even though Brett is responsible for bringing 2 different dramas (Stella and Packer) in Mariah's life, he still has experience in his field and has a decent repuatation doing A list movies and work. The same can't be said about Stella but I'm guessing Stella won't really have much of role except to get her name in for no reason. At least that's what I'm hoping because if left to her, Mishka will play a young Mimi. And Sasha a younger Mimi. I'm not too worried about Brett, he is experienced. Also I hear "Starz" is a very reputable network and wouldn't approve any messy projects. Now I just need Mariah to try not to be too dramatic with the story. What I'm pretty sure of is though that this probably won't be an autobiographical series. It'll probably just be loosely based, but I hope the cheesiness is kept to a minimum and same for the added drama.

I used to like Rihanna but I struggle with the point of her now. I am lost as to what her talent actually is. I sing better than her. Mariah farts better than her. Judging by Mariah's face, she's farting better than her quite a lot.

Mariah's "One Sweet Day" is a holy grail for me. So I hope her record with it will last long. I remember when she said in an interview, she never planned it like "we gonna make 16 weeks baby". A summer hit shouldn't break the record. But I'm relaxed, even "Macarena" wasn't able to do it. The Rihanna song, I don't care at all if it's going to be a number one. Such a bad song, only the sample from "Maria Maria" by Santana is good.

Article: Mariah to executive produce tv drama based on her life story (77,271)
by Matthew from USA

Well, executive producers just front the money. If she leaves it at that, this Starz production could actually turn out well. Like 50 Cent's Power series. But something tells me she'll want to write, co-direct, co-star and do wardrobe. She'll also want full control of casting. So get ready for the acting debut of Mishka. A new star is born. This didn't work the first time she tried it with Glitter, so I guess she's giving it another go. Tenacity is a virtue I guess, but I do wish it was applied to her music.

I was hoping it's going to stay in "The Shade Room" because not many people are subscribed to that, as in not many people I personally know. But it has made it's way into "9Gag" and everyone I know is subscribed to that page so now there's no stopping this video. On "9Gag" it's labelled "me doing the absolute bare minimum at work". I'm done.

I agree. I do think that once MC puts out a great album, side bar I don't think she's ever put out a bad album per say, I think the GP will eat it up. We will too. Great promo, good to great live vocals, some confidence and passion and there is no doubt in my mind that she will be back where she belongs. Great and honest post. Love it.

Haha when I read the title of the article on insta, my first thought was "here we go again". Because I thought this will be another cheesy, heavily scripted mess. But then I saw the people involved and it gives me hope. Stella of course has to get her untalented self in it somehow, but I can tolerate that as long as she keeps her opinions and ideas to herself. I don't really know what to think of a "scripted drama loosely based on Mariah's real life" will be. Is it like a "Glitter" moment or what? I guess we'll have to wait and see. For now, I'll stay hopeful and wish she makes it a good quality show, something that is not only targeted towards ratchet teens.

Haha I'm a selfish brat when it comes to Mariah so here's what would be the ideal scenario for me. I'll let "Despacito" stay on top for 4 more weeks, letting it tie with WBT and some other songs that are stuck in 14 weeks (I say that as if being on top for 14 weeks consecutively is a small thing, haha Mariah spoiled me too much). Anyways so ya let Bieber stay there for 4 more weeks, by that time I hope WT loses it's momentum and bam on the 15th week "Despacito" is replaced by another song.

I do tend to agree. I don't begrudge Rihanna her success or any #1's but I don't think her #1's will ever be looked at as having the same weight as Mariah's.
