Lol. I see you adopted my tactics. I too nitpick at messages and totally avoid those gremlins like the plague they are. They have nothing to say that I wanna hear about, or be an audience to.

Thoughts (77,167) by Mara from United States
Hi to all my MCArchives family. I've been away a few weeks and have been going through some health issues. If I could ask for some prayers from any of you who believe in a higher power or positive vibes, I would greatly appreciate it. I have noticed a few new faces since I have been gone and I do have to defend Eric, his website and some of us "older posters". I love that MC still is gaining young fans and I appreciate that as we know she does too. What I hate, is that us "old folks" and the young ones are so divided. I have to agree with the other posts, that we just happened to live through her "golden years" and simply know what she is capable of creating. I believe that is her blessing and curse at the same time. Mariah in her prime, was simply untouchable and could do no wrong and created masterpieces. I am so in need of a new spiritual song right now and have been spoiled since I was 15 of getting one every album all through life. I think people don't understand the Andrews and Edwards of this board would not be here if they didn't still hold hope that this woman could create something wonderful. She just seems lost and has for a while now. The last clips I saw of Vegas showed a beautiful woman who looks just over it. Like she is blank and isn't there. The Mariah I knew, checked out. It's frustrating as I still believe this woman has sit in her. Maybe her true fans are too hard on her and we should cut back. I think that may be true. That is what she always gave us though, so that is Mariah's blessing and curse at the same time. I believe she knows that and at this stage in her life, can't live up to it. I completely understand that. It's when she literally looks completely over it, stiff and medicated that worries me. If there are issues she needs to deal with, take some time off. Take some time for you, heal, find yourself. Why is she up there for the world to see this vulnerable state. It's been that way since Chanteuse to be completley honest. Why is her management allowing or pushing her to continue? She needs to soul search. She has been through life changing events having two beautiful children and then going through a divorce. There is no reason to be so public and all over TMZ when clearly she is still going through something. I still look at MC as the sister I never met, and after losing my all time fav male artist George Michael, Mariah is all I have left. I don't want to see that happen to her. I would be perfectly fine with her taking some time to heal and find herself again and come back stronger. I'm sorry if we seem like we cannot be pleased, but I know a lot of us just care about Mariah Carey the person and do not like what we are seeing before our eyes. When all we see is the Russian family and no longer Mariah's own even mother, something just seems off, and has for a few years. I am grateful we have her and she is still here for us to see perform live and I hope she kills the Lionel tour and proves those fans of his that attacked her since the announcement wrong. A part of me still wishes she would do a sit down with either Barbara, Oprah, Diane or even Matt Lauer and come clean on some things, say what she's been through. Tell the world how hard it is to be Mariah Carey, live up to that expectation, her divorce, go deeper into her childhood, explain why she takes on the diva persona, mention her voice and how it's a fragile instrument, bring up NYE, whatever. Let the world know you are human and then build up for that comeback and come back with a last vengeance. That is my wish anyhow. At this point, what does she has to lose? She has nothing but a gain. She needs some to win back the people and let them in on some things. She is public for the wrong reasons. People would be on her side again as I do believe they would like to see her back.

She could have the agility again. She seemed to really seem a great year in regards to agility in 2013. I mean how nice are these riffs? Like I said, she just needs to give up the alcohol. No surgery needed, but maybe rehab, for sure prayer (prayer typed in caps). Watch this video of clips in 2013 regarding her agility.

Vegas 7/11/17 (77,165) by JD from United States
Anyway, I'm listening to the recordings from her show on the 11th and they sound bomb to me. I'll admit watching the ones from earlier this week kinda had me discouraged but damn she sounded really good on Tuesday from what I saw. Watch "Love takes time" and the climax of Honey (not the lipped part but before that even sounded good) both are on YouTube and it sounded super clear and higher than I expected.

How can she have a team that can't even distribute a t-shirt on time? Seriously though. A t-shirt? Wow. That's pretty sad.

You know what Andrew? It could be a possibility. What if she already had the surgery and things went wrong with her voice. If that's the situation here, I could totally understand the lipping, misery attitude on stage and off-key performances. It must be hard losing the precious gift you were given. It also could be that after the surgery she has been training her voice being in the spotlight. Probably she has been touring constantly since 2014 (Elusive Chanteouse show, Christmas shows, #1 to Infinity, SSFT). It could be also a reason why we haven't had an album since the surgery.

Hey Andrew. Common, you didn't even give the whole video a shot. She messed up that first line. Yes, and I thought it was going to go downhill as well. But once she finishes, you are like, ok, she still has some fight in her. She is sounding clearer, and can give a halfway decent mid belt Please go back and watch the whole video. Also watch the other one I posted of TGIFU where you can genuinely see that she is bothered she didn't have any alcohol that night by asking the audience if they were drinking because she couldn't, saying "It's not fair." Contrary to what everyone believes, she doesn't need surgery. She needs to put down the bottle. How are you having a splash before you go on stage, knowing there are certain registers you are going to have to avoid because you had that glass. Or not preparing at all so that she sounds bad the first couple of shows until she actually disciplines herself. If she actually stopped drinking, she would sound just as good as the pre-records and maybe not have to depend on them as heavily. Look at Celine. She uses the same technique throughout her performances but its hard to tell because her live voice always sounds great. Now she's getting her @#$% patted while upside down and you know what, I'm not mad at her. She can do what she wants because at the end of the day, the lady can still sing. I want that for Mariah.

There's a video on YouTube (I guess it was also posted in this messageboard) in which JFox explains why Mariah showed up at the TV show and what was the main intention he had in mind.
Look for it. That will answer your question.

Re: Voice coach or operation (77,119) (77,157) by Victor from Costa Rica
Vocal coaching. If she loose the whistle register she will loose part of her self being. She had nodules since she was a kid, so we know her that way and we need to understand her singing is evolving with wisdom.

Don't worry man, I believe you spoke the truth. I don't understand the negativity either. It doesn't make sense to me to pretend to love an artist like Mariah and to judge her. I don't feel comfortable being the "they" in "Can't take that away". Come whenever you want to spread your positivity and just ignore, don't aknowledge their negativity. I don't even bother reading certain comments anymore.

It's amazing how asking that Mariah give her 100% best effort, have consistency, and fly right is always twisted into asking for perfection or basically the impossible. It's as if we might as well be asking her to walk on water.

Sorry (77,152) by JD from United States
If I offended you guys by saying to stop the negativity, and I clearly did since you all came back so defensive, then I'm sorry I've just never seen a fandom so negative towards their idol and calling anyone who doesn't subscribe to the negativity delusional. It might not be just you guys but generally most of the fandom as a whole is like this. I just love her music honestly wanted to join a forum to talk about it but not like this. Have a good day everyone. I didn't mean to stir anything up so much.

Oh, just one more, I can't resist: you haven't been on this site for over a month? Check out the dates of your last posts. This website is great because it affords everyone the right to voice themselves and debate. Even numpties (in my opinion) like you. Attack the messages. Don't shoot the messenger, you [censored].

Re: Stop the negativity (77,148) (77,149) by JD from United States
Okay I made that first post without reading all of the stuff you guys say on here, honestly there's like two people who say positive things and the rest are fighting about irrelevant stuff. I'll be the first to admit I posted something seemingly "negative" but I was honestly just confused. Don't know why every time I mention my age to lambs they act as if they're above me for being older or liking her longer. I'd think you'd be happy she even has somewhat of a younger demographic still and that her songs still reach that audience but no, you just want to belittle what I say and ignore it and say "you were in diapers when we were listening to her music" like okay and? You all seem to want "the best" for Mariah yet you scare off most younger fans because how rude and clique-y most of you guys are. I literally stated multiple times in the post I didn't care about her weight gain I was just confused by her sudden appearance change, but everything I said still stands. I literally wasn't being "hateful" or attacking anyone by saying to stop the negativity. So if you're puking for me trying to say let's be more positive then that's sad. But let's ignore all of that and attack my age because you clearly don't want to stop the negativity. And also to clarify my message may have seemed harsh and hateful because it censored unnecessary words. I literally said "bitter" old lambs so sorry if you thought I was cursing you out or something but I literally just started on here a week ago and over half the posts are negative, but if all of you enjoy constantly saying she can't sing or saying fire Stella over and over in a different way every post then I'll leave you to that.

Re: Stop the negativity (77,127) (77,148) by Andrew from UK
Let me equally as patronising: many people, as they grow up, learn that lies must be challenged and the truth must be reconciled. In fact, the truth must be accepted and spoken or the narrative has no merit. Gay Pride events being an example of that. Mariah is indeed one of the vocal greats, if not the greatest, in the modern era. But there are things going incredibly wrong. You can still rejoice in her music whilst being involved in the political debates surrounding her. I and others here have listened to Mariah Carey every day of my life since I was younger than you. If you want to be ageist then let me be equally as ageist: grow up, kid.

Re: Voice coach or operation (77,119) (77,146) by Andrew from UK
As I just posted, I kinda think it's possible the operation was already had; however, if it wasn't had, then she should have it. Nothing to lose. I can not believe she actually enjoys singing anymore - I'm sure everyone can see that it looks like it actually pains her, physically, to sing. And what you get from that is performances quite impossible to enjoy as a spectator because she doesn't want to do it. I'm posing the question genuinely: who is getting anything from this going on? Her legend is dying because of it, and has been for some time. Whereas I can accept a resolution to her career, others in here will talk their way through the truth and comfort themselves. Why is she continuing if she can't sing her own songs in their entirety, but, further, if what she does sing is painful? She can't possibly need the money. I think she has no identity outside of being told she's the best and being the adored star of whatever environment she is in. Thus, the Stella situation. I genuinely want to watch Mariah look good on stage, own it, be happy and sing well - and live. If she can't do it, then, what is the point?

Re: The truth (77,107) (77,145) by Andrew from UK
Well, buddy, that's sort of what I was looking for: someone to post Mariah singing live that sounded good. To be honest, I turned it off after the word "night" being completely skipped. I do think the issue needs to be addressed because it has become quite severe. Can she actually genuinely do it? Lipping is second nature. I'm confused as to why her voice has deteriorated so much in the last five to eight years because she's hardly sung a difficult note. They're all lipped. But what she does actually sing is sounding increasingly worse. I can, I assume, like most people (save for the know-it-all-but-know-nothing teenagers) predict how she is going to sing a song as it's playing in front of me. I know that I'm going to hear "finally see the troo'ooth" instead of "finally see the truth", for example, and what it does is make the vocal sound jarring and amateurish. Why can't she sustain? Is it that hard? Things like "We're gonna linger on, we're gonna linger on" pale in comparison to what the original line is, sounding dull and uninspired but the original line shouldn't be that difficult for anyone who can actually speak the line. I'm not convinced surgery would work but then I'm no expert on the matter. But what's to lose? The whistle register? Who cares? Nobody pays to watch a concert sung in whistle. And since we know she lips those as well now (cue the finger to the ear and shaking of the head back and forth to make it look like something's happening) there is absolutely nothing to lose. Or perhaps she had it and what we have now is the result. Her next album should be Adele style in register and content I feel. Down to Earth, simple songs within a normal singing register. She seems to be clinging onto being "The Voice". But Mel B seems to be right: maybe it just isn't there anymore. Or perhaps she was talking about her own bank account.

I Pray on Oprah (77,144) by RibbonB from USA
This really was one of the best Mariah moments, writing this song for this young man and having him perform it on Oprah. Sigh, for the good old days, when Oprah still had Mariah on her shows. I was hoping that Mariah would one day soon appear on Oprah's "Master class", now she would only be good on an episode of "Iyanla Fix My Life".
