Re: The two sides of Mariah (76,155) (76,166) by B from USA
Eric, I don't know why I used sales figures when the point I was trying to make was, that in my opinion, Mariah's sixth album Butterfly is better than Bey's sixth album. I no longer follow Beyonce's music career because I don't like her music anymore. Like how some of y'all stopped liking Mariah's music after Daydream (Butterfly). Beyonce still is the best entertainer of our time and she's a good singer. (I'd rank her with the Brandy's and Monica's which isn't a diss in my opinion since both can sing (Brandy's Never Say Never album is amazing as is Monica's Street Symphony).)

Camilla Cabello (76,165) by Terna from Nigeria
With a lyric video visual like this, I don't think this song needs a video. Hastag deep.

Re: Mariah and Madonna (76,159) (76,164) by B from USA
I'm not saying she's not iconic I'm just stating that she isn't a singers singer. Her visuals were stunning and she a genius at self promoting. Mariah could learn a few lessons from Madonna.

Eric, red alert (76,163) by Edward from USA
Eric, there's something very suspicious about B. If he's from Indiana, why isn't he indian? Very suspicious.

Re: Mariah and Madonna (76,154) (76,162) by MC1989 from Spain
Sorry, I have to disagree. Mariah Carey is very popular in some countries (she used to be huge in the U.S, where she still holds the record of having the most number one songs, but in many European countries for instance, many of those 18 US number ones didn't even charted). Mariah's sales worldwide are incredible, she's one of the biggest selling female artists of all time, but apart from sales, Madonna's impact on pop culture is incomparable. While Mariah (and her team/record labels) focused the promotion of each album/project mainly in the U.S, Madonna has toured around the world more than Mariah, and - in my humble opinion - she has much more global recognition than Mariah, due to the fact that she's been around much longer, among other things (music style, visuals, production, etc). Her success around the world is quite unique. There has never been a musical and commercial phenomenon like Madonna. Saying that she's only relevant when she tours is the same as saying that Mariah is only relevant during Christmas - and sadly the last is becoming something true. Mariah was treated with respect and was starting to achieve that status of "legend" until the recent years where everything changed. Unfortunately, her image is very damaged, and many people don't take her seriously anymore.

Haha I'm dead reading your last sentence. B dahlin' even with NDAs in place, you know the mess Stella can create, we'll end up with "sources" said stories like we do now whenever they want to stir some drama. But what's worse is that it's not like Mariah is keeping them around because she is afraid they'll defame her, instead it looks like she actually thinks they are good for her judging by all the joint business ventures they are engaging in. This will end up being another situation similar to what happened when she gave up 50% rights to her songs to Ben and ended up making a lot less than she could, she is signing up for another huge loss.

Re: Mariah and Madonna (76,154) (76,160) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I do think Mariah respects Madonna. She has said it multiple times and pretty recently she went as far as to acknowledge that Madonna has done a lot and paved the way for many others in the music industry. The only reason Mariah doesn't probably gush over Madonna is because she is still pissed about what Madonna said about Mariah early on in her career. Had that not happened I think Mariah would speak more fondly of Madonna like she does with Whitney. But still, for Mariah to acknowledge someone's existence and go as far as to say that "yes she has done a lot for the music industry" is pretty much equivalent to her writing a love letter to Madonna haha.

Re: Mariah and Madonna (76,154) (76,159) by Licia from USA
B you know I hate when you do this. Act like other artists who are in fact as legendary and as iconic as Mariah are nothing. You said Madonna is only relevant when she tours and that may be true, but right about now Mariah is only relevant for fake boyfriends, bulging breasts, and thong shots. She's not relevant under positive headlines. The few things that are positive are overshadowed by bull crap. I agree that because of their history they will probably never be friends, but to put Madonna beneath Mariah when they are equal I can't agree with that.

Re: Mariah and Madonna (76,154) (76,158) by Edward from USA
B, you know I like most of your posts, but sometimes you say some shit, I want to come to Indiana and choke you. Madonna and Mariah are both irrelevant. Most people 10 years older than us think Mariah sounds like Ariana, that should tell you something there. Madonna, just like Mariah, has her name cemented in the history of music. Let's not downplay Madonna's contribution to the music scene and how she also paved the way so many others female artist could express themselves freely. Every star, including our beloved Mariah, fades away. And I know you're not from Indiana, lol.

Mariah can walk by herself (76,157) by Lila from United States
The thing is, though, there are plenty of pictures, from 2013, post accident, to the present, of Mariah walking by herself, in heels, just fine, and looking like she has no cares. So, she is capable of doing so and I don't think the accident in 2013 left her mentally scared. I fit her holding onto her bodyguards into the same category as her saying she walks on tip toe because she's so used to walking in heels (and that pan in on her feet on tip toe on Mariah's World after she took her heels off) : evidence of her disconcerting habit of globbing onto whatever thought or person she thinks is cute or fun in the moment that winds up snowballing to a stupid place.

Mariah needs to fire the Russians. Best believe they signed non disclosure agreements when Mariah hired them. What can they say that the public doesn't already know? Mariah's an alcoholic? She's always got a flute of Cristal in her hand in almost every picture we see of her. Mariah smokes weed? She's been claiming purples been taking her higher since It's Like That in 2005.

Re: The two sides of Mariah (76,151) (76,155) by B from USA
She has idiots telling her she needs follow trends to remain relevant despite the fact these artist aren't even relevant outside of social media. Beyonce's Lemomonade hadn't sold over 900,000 copies last time I checked. Yet, she's better than Mariah. Lemonade is her sixth album, Mariah's sixth album was Butterfly. [Webmaster: Last time I checked, Lemonade sold over 2.5 million copies.]

Re: Mariah and Madonna (76,152) (76,154) by B from USA
Madonna isn't on Mariah's level. Mariah pays talented singers their due but she'll never be friends with Madge or respect her. Madonna's irrelevant except when she tours.

Re: Melt Away on Waiting to Exhale? (76,139) (76,153) by B from USA
The Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack is perfection. Melt Away does sound like it belong somewhere between Sitting Up In My Room and Let It Flow. A lot of people think Babyface sang the first verse on Melt Away. Mariah and Babyface created timeless songs that will stand the test of time. Never Forget You and Melt Away. I might as well mention Every time I Close My Eyes. Mariah's background vocals took that song to even higher heights. Mariah please work with Babyface on your new album. Write another Never Forget You or Melt Away. The 90's are huge again and you were the 90's. Revisit the formula you used on Daydream and Butterfly and create another classic album.

Mariah and Madonna (76,152) by Edouard from France
I believe they would be good friends now. They have both become legends and moguls of their respective empires. Mariah is not just a singer, not just a product. She is buisness savy and I admire her for all the things she has achieved and the things to come.

The two sides of Mariah (76,151) by T from USA
Throughout the years I've always noticed it was almost like there were two Mariah's operating at the same time. One was this repsectful artist who calls (and still calls) people like Lionel Richie "Mr. Richie". Who wouldn't oversing her idols and who was focused and career driven shy artist. The other is a diva who cannot be told what to do. One side of Mariah allowed herself to be controlled and contained in order to achieve almost insurmountable achievements the other side of her personality is single handedly destroying it. For me, the two polarizing adjectives when it comes to MC isn't "black" and "white", but rather artist vs. diva.

Melt Away on Waiting to Exhale soundtrack (76,150) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I certainly concur it fits in perfectly with the sound and quality of the album but unfortunately the competition between Clive and Tommy prevented that.

That's my biggest fear. The circus around Mariah needs to stop. Yes she broke every record so she doesn't need the "cheap" press like a b-celebrity. I always have the quote from Mary J. Blidge in my ear. "You're Mariah Carey remember?" I hope that she remembers soon.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey on a shopping spree in Beverly Hills (76,137) (76,148) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Mariah really did change after the accident. I remember the Loverboy scenes, she was full of energy and running in heels was easy for her. Sometimes I think the accident caused something more than only the shoulder and rips. I can only imagine how painful it must be. So I guess that could be a reason for some things. She must have took a lot of pain-killers and that may have affected some "choices".

Stella and fashion shouldn't even be in the same sentence. She basically dresses like something that rhymes with cooker.

Re: The lack of style (76,136) (76,145) by darrian liu from taiwan
But Mariah, being the beautiful woman she is, could look much better with the right clothes. Imagine if Rachel Zoe styles her. Or Andre Leon Talley. Stella's style is seeping into her and Stella isn't exactly a fashion forward person.

Headed for an MJ, Whitney, Prince, George Michael (76,144) by BLEUX ROGUE from U. S. A.
She needs to grow up. Accept her age, her dwindling career, her legacy, her kids. Stop "the splashes", dump the leeches, start thinking of her kids, take a five year break. No social media, no publicity, work in her self and heal mentally and physically. Plan and strategize an age appropriate third comeback. A jazz album. A modern gospel album. Forget hits and getting on charts. You've made and broken records. Sit on your laurels. This will end badly if she doesn't. I can see it.

Do you really think she'll listen to Nick? If any of this is true I doubt anything he says would make a difference.
