Would love to have this. So interested in owning this myself. Could you hook me up with your friend? Ingwersenadam@gmail.com Thanks.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey is a comedic genius (78,603) (78,609) by B from USA
I loved the article except for the author referring to Mariah as a fading star. Mariah is a legend who is no longer in playing the game, at least at the moment. I'm sure she wants to make another comeback but it's not going to happen under Stella's management. Stella is an incompetent manager.

Mariah's Butterfly documentary (78,608) by B from USA
I hope Mariah and her collaborators talk about the writing and recording of each song and they show Mariah performing each of the singles. I pray Stella, Brian, and Stella's children do not make appearances. I wish Mariah was releasing a new album instead but if she does an actual documentary and not a poorly scripted reality show I'll be happy.

Regarding MIAM I made it burn on vinyl by a friend and made the cover as well. I hope one day it will come out as well on vinyl.

Thank you guys for the answer. On my side regarding vinyl Merry christmas II You is the only one that I do not own. As I am almost 40, vinyls have always been part of my life so I've always bought them. When I like an artist I buy the vinyl. If I like an artist I buy mp3, if I love the artist I buy the vinyl.

Just released on vinyl last week. I pre ordered and received it the day it came out. It's lovely and sounds fantastic. Now with Butterfly vinyl on the way I am only missing Daydream (to expensive for me to purchase ) and MIAM that to my knowledge was never pressed on vinyl. Then my collection of studio albums on vinyl will be complete. Order it on Amazon you won't be disappointed.

Re: Janet's radio documentary: Janet, Jam and Lewis (78,590) (78,604) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Wow, thanks a lot for sharing that. As a huge Janet fan, I was in tears listening to them breaking down their creative process. It shows and proves that Janet's vocal talent should not be underestimated. The woman knows intricate harmonies like the back of her hand and has a very good ear for what sounds great (didn't know the vocals for If was that complicated). She's definitely a genius at what she does. Weren't there plans for her and Mariah to collaborate around 2006-ish? I hope that materializes sometime in the future. My top 2 favorite female artists working together would just be divine, I probably wouldn't be able to handle it. And yeah, at 51, Janet can still give Beyoncé a run for her money and then some.

Thanks for this post Eduoard, it's an amazing feeling words cannot fully describe hearing yours and others experiences with the Butterfly album and how you, I and millions of others connected to and still cherish and play that particular album. Mariah was hurting when she made that album, and I guess her healing came from its crafting and completion, she had a platform to be heard and the world her audience. But even she didn't fathom that in the process she was creating something bigger than her, that would heal so many others infinitely.

Re: Andrew/Butterfly (78,601) by Jeff from USA
Andrew, that was beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I was 16 when Butterfly was released. I came out to my family and experienced the highs and lows of my first real love. Mariah's Magnum Opus quite literally may have saved my life, just by giving me the ability to sing through my pain. Thank you again for sharing your story.

On Discogs it does appear to have a vinyl edition, which must be pretty recent, since it shows 2017 as the year of release. Check it here.

Merry Christmas II You (78,597) by Gilles from Malta
Hi everybody, I need some help regarding this album. So 3 years ago I was looking for this album in LP and today I find it on amazon and it comes from reseller or shops or whatever. Is it an official release or not? Because I've never heard that it was out in vinyl. Thank you so much.

Re: Butterfly saved my life (78,588) (78,596) by Andrew from UK
What I find quite special, looking back to ages past when you hear music you loved, music with which you identified, is hearing other people's stories. Whilst I listened to that album on repeat twenty years ago it became another dependable friend in my life, and, as I went through the emotional upset that came with being a teenager, I would wonder, like many teenagers before me and I imagine many teenagers after me, if there was anyone out there, right at that time, feeling the same as me, being the same as me, wondering the same as me. And it's amazing now to know now, with hindsight, that there really was. In an age long gone, free of social media, and smartphones, with only the worst of dial-up there were only young people in their bedrooms listening to music. There were people the same age as me, listening to that very album, Butterfly, at that very time, spread across the globe, feeling the same as me and needing Mariah the same as I did. I always wondered who the "Guardian Angel" in that album was. Now I think maybe it's the future you. The Sun is setting but you're still around and still going. And you'd love to be able to go back and rescue yourself, and tell yourself that you're going to make it.

Re: Badly enunciated verses (78,566) (78,595) by Andrew from UK
Nobody, but nobody, can understand what the Funtime Bobby Mariah is on about at the end of "Crybaby". In fact, I recall some lucky lamb winning a private phone call with Mariah during the Rainbow promo time and when probed as to what was discussed, the lamb said that she had asked Mariah what she was singing because she didn't understand it. I remember thinking that is a pretty cold thing to do. Mariah calls you up on the phone and you basically tell her she sang the song crap. I mean, I wouldn't even do that. Well, depends on the amount of "splashes". Hers I mean.

Mariah should do this for the Butterfly documentary. She could have each of her collaborators talk about the writing process and reveal the inspiration behind each of the songs.

Janet's radio documentary: Janet, Jam and Lewis (78,590) by bliss! from Brazil
Have you guys heard this? In this unexpected radio documentary, Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis dissect the layers of 11 Janet's hits and explain the meaning of the songs. How I wish Mariah would do this for "Butterfly", is it too much to ask for?

Butterfly and baggy pants (78,589) by Edouard from France
I love this picture. I always wondered what Mariah was wearing on the Butterfly album cover. Was it a skirt, was it a short? I always thought it was some kind of tight pants like the ones she wore during the #1's era. The answer is: Mariah wore baggy pants. It would have added even more Hip Hop connotations to the album and I understand why they probably cut the picture the way they did. Pure speculation: Mariah probably found the solution for her subsequent project (Rainbow): she only wore underwear. Perfect.

Butterfly saved my life (78,588) by Edouard from France
It really did. I was 13, going through a lot of turmoil and the album really helped me shape my own thoughts about the challenges I had to face at the time. To this day I turn to it to give me release my emotions, give me confidence and bring me inner peace. It is moody. But it is not that depressing, nor is it particularly uplifting. it is all about the truth and how we need to face it sometimes. Truth about ourselves, truth about our environment, truth about the others and the world in general. Truth sets you free, right? And I believe that's how the album truly explores the idea of metamorphosis and resilience. Thank you Mariah and happy anniversary Butterfly.
