Re: Wrapping up Vegas / Anthony for manager (76,972)
by 123 from USA

It seems like if her manager was a current friend like Randy and JD, one misstep and she fires them. I have no idea the current manager has lasted this long. I have no idea why Mariah wouldn't listen to JD about Vegas, going on late night shows and performing live, she did the bare minimum with MIAM promo. It's like she ignored most of his suggestions and felt ok doing so because they were friends. She left him out to dry when the fans were attacking him. That's supposed to be your close friend, back him up, she backed up Stella for defending her with that tacky unprofessional unprofessional verbiage. That goes to my next topic. I want Anthony to be her manager. Yes he is a diva and yes the whole, "they want ass, they want tits" quote but other than that, I liked everything else he did for her. He gave her some basic two steps so she wasn't just standing there, especially on her songs where she has live vocals mixed in with pre-record moments. He brought her attention to the post from the old team saying they are on a sinking ship, the tacky butt shot that was posted, the forcing rehearsal on Mariah, making sure her tour looked great. He didn't have an issue bringing what was wrong to her attention instead of telling her how great she is. NYE wasn't his fault, it was hers for depending on pre-records. If the audience heard dead silence or her just randomly talking instead of her pre-records coming on during Emotions, and the album version or even the live pre-record of WBT, she wouldn't have gotten the backlash she got. She needs to stop drinking, focus on rehearsal, and sleep. P.S. Leave the current manager for TV productions you have always wanted to do and hire him for the music portion.

I was always team JD though. At most I said that hiring JD was a bad idea because Mariah would not listen to JD as a manager. I've been dragged for being team JD even before (especially during the time when Mariah wasn't hanging out with him and also after he did the interview where he said some stuff that pissed fans off) so ya I am not changing stories here, and I will certainly never be team Stella.

The Emancipation of Mimi / photoshoot / LA Reid (76,970)

Reading LA Reid's book, he mentions that he rejected the first photoshoot for the album's cover, telling her "I need you to look expensive." I wonder which of the photos were supposed to be the original artwork.

Don't under estimate the Latino public. As someone who is from South America and a teen when Mariah was at her peak and J-Lo just appeared, even back then tv music channels had J-Lo videos running more often than Mariah's and she also got more radio spins, overall the Spanish ones which made J-Lo a favorite one, Christina Aguilera also got a big boost when she introduced her Spanish version. Never understood why Mariah didn't do a bigger effort for that market. She could have had it so easily, her song Mi Todo was really a hit and a prefered one over the original. People will always go for their home language. J-Lo bought the market with her Latin flavor, so no matter if she only released songs in English from now on, the Latinos have her back. As for visuals she didn't offer anything Latinos haven't seen back then but it is the fact she looked homely, like the pretty girl next door with this American coolness and a gorgeous backside haha.

Lol, the lambs absolutely crucified JD for no reason, and now he's deemed a not so bad manager by comparison to Stella. So when Stella is no longer her manager and somebody else is at the helm, I can't wait for the "bring back Stella" posts lol. Maybe the common denominator in all this mess is actually Mariah? Hashtag just saying.

While it's true that MIAM era was a mess but it's absolutely true that JD is a million times better as a manager than Stella. It's not hidden anymore that Mariah was going through personal problems which may have kept JD from really doing much with the era and use his full potential. At the very least JD is from the industry and has connections within the industry, something Stella clearly doesn't. Also JD had the decency to step down from his managerial role when he figured it wouldn't work, something Stella would never do. Two and a half years in and I am still baffled as to how Mariah even thought this was a good idea to take on Stella and the clan especially since Stella has messed up a lot.

Ratner was filming most of the second night of the residency so they filmed something else that night besides the performance scenes for the Infinity video (which was filmed afterwards). If she does release a DVD of her Vegas residency I hope they use first and second nights because she slayed those dates. I'm hoping all of this negative press (and her credit card being denied) had finally opened Mariah's eyes to Stella's ulterior motives, using Mariah to gain fame for herself and her daughters. JD was a better manager than Stella.

Basically. How anyone can't see that little fact I don't know but it remains. She's got a bunch of inept and incompetent people traveling around with her 24/7, who's she's given legitimate job titles to but who were not right to fill the roles in the first place and have proven themselves as unable to bring anything to the table but their mere presence. In any other job environment, if that were true and yet the person or people were still around, everyone else would immediately call the situation for what it is: nepotism or favoritism. She's certainly not related to these dimwits. It's all about keeping bodies around so she doesn't feel 100% lonely.

Thanks for sharing. Although I'm glad we got one song from them, really wish that they would have had more opportunities to record together. Instead of the record companies trying to pit them against each other in the beginning they should have capitalized on all that talent. With Mariah's writing and both of their voices there's no telling where they could have taken this.

Ribbon B. Mimi is paying for her fake lifestyle of fake friends and hangers on. Guess it is "win win" I completely agree with it. All fake things are very expensive. Mariah would really "win" if she would surround herself with real people. I was never a fan of this Hollywood-lifestyle. It had destroyed too many talented people. I think Mariah should choose the middle. Enjoy here and there luxury but without the plastic and fake people. I wonder if she will ever realize that sometimes less can be more.

I don't think JLo has that many views because of the Latino market. Mariah and JLo are from two different eras. JLo is a visual artist. You can trust that in her videos she is going to look good, give you a great dance routine, and exude sex appeal naturally. Had Mariah rose to fame in 1999 with songs like Vision of Love, Hero, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Honey etc would have had more views. 19 Million is great in this day in age with no label support and barely any promotion other than the "burning of the actual wedding dress rumor" that circulated social media. It caused all the kids to click and watch the video for this scene. It's too bad because a lot of the "reaction videos" on YouTube were positive about the song. Unfortunately she didn't promote it so it came and went like most things on social media.

I've always wanted her to take more features like this with big artists o' the day as long as the song is good. Give her the choruses and bridge. Maybe even a verse. Why not? I felt her chorus girl collabo with Busta gave her a slight resurgence in 03 with the top 5 "I Know What You Want". I knew the song was going to pick up when it was played in Chicago clubs and I could hear all the women say "My song is on." Then I heard the song everywhere, pouring out of car radios, clubs, and top 40 stations. During that time there were a lot of songs Ashanti was featured in that I wished Mariah had done because she would have sounded great on those records.

Mimi is paying for her fake lifestyle of fake friends and hangers on. Guess it is "win win" for her and the current team. They find ways and opportunities to hang out, drink and attempt to stay in the press together, but the only one of real interest is Mariah and her children. Too bad she did not have the confidence to rest, heal and raise them, she has to pay for company. IMO.

I, obviously, don't know where you got this information from but it's wrong. Credit card companies no longer let users recklessly spend and limitless spending is pretty much a thing of the past. It doesn't matter how much money you have. The American Express Centurion aka The Black Card is not limitless for anyone. JP Morgan no longer issues their Palladium card that had limitless spending for those it was issued to and replaced it with Reserve. I've read nothing about being it being limitless. Charge cards, like the Green and Gold American Express cards come with no pre-set spending but that does not equal limitless spending. It's just a great way for the company to make more efficient decisions, in its own best interest, on what the user can and cannot buy with the card. Charge cards also have to have the full balance that was incurred the previous month be paid off, in full, the next month. If you're late in paying off a previous balance, AE will not hesitate to put a hold on your card nor give you an exact spending limit immediately. If it's reoccurring, your card can be canceled. Secondly, it's quite ridiculous to list two properties that you know of that Mariah owns, and act is if that encompasses her entire financial situation when it doesn't. Money is a simple process of what's coming in versus what's going out. J. Lo and Madonna can buy 20 million dollar houses (usually after selling the previous house they owned for near the same amount of money) but Madonna has money coming out of the wazoo from touring and clothing. J. Lo is still making money through clothing brands, music, acting, and producing and in a big way. Mariah does not. Mariah has money yes but she doesn't have large amounts (by her lifestyle standard) continuously streaming in. That means she has to at some point use money that she has saved up to cover her expenses, which gets tricky when you lead the lifestyle that she leads. She has a NYC apartment that has high property taxes, a house in the Bahamas that has high property taxes, a 6-figure a month house rental in Beverly Hills, a large jet that requires upkeep and burns through a very costly amount of fuel plus the pilot, a group of incompetent staff she pays to do nothing, a group of staff that actually does have a purpose like the nanny, bodyguards, tutor, maids, etc. Payroll is a money eater. Then there's the expensive hotel suites, accommodations for staff, clothing, cars, jewelry, and anything else I don't have the time to list. Mariah has just about the same expensive lifestyle to upkeep as any well to do celebrity. Lastly, no one of Mariah's caliber, who's not experiencing a money shortage takes on things like dating apps, dog walking apps, and Soda Stream, things that do not mesh well with their image, lack major exposure, and most likely are not paying big bucks for "spending money". They'd already have spending money and would just go and enjoy their self.

Mimi makes a whole lot of money and she also spends a ton of money. Just last year she was expressing financial insecurity and her team did not bother to debunk that. In fact supposedly she fired her old team for not spending or managing her money right. Supposedly JP was also helping her with her finances, then there was the whole inconvenience fee debacle after she got dumped.

Whether you want to believe it or not it can happen to Mariah if she has the wrong people managing her money. It's not so far fetched considering she already has the wrong person managing her career. Furthermore I really don't care what she does with her money because neither you nor I know for sure what her finances are. We all just commented on an article. I don't recall anyone saying that they believed the mess nor did anyone claim to know exactly what's going on.
