Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,811) (75,815) by Jamie from UK
Emotions all the way. So many strong songs on there. I love the debut but Emotions album is so soulful and songs with great depth.

LTT is a number one isn't it? Lol. That really shows how much I care about her number ones. When I talk about certain songs I don't love or hate it because it was a hit or not. It was just either a great song or horrible. LTT is just a great [censored] song with the added bonus of being a hit.

Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,811) (75,813) by Licia from USA
Can I choose both? I can't pick one between these two. My love for the Mariah Carey album is the obvious answer of this was the album that made me pay attention and love Mariah's music. I was 12 when this album came out, but I didn't fully appreciate this album until I got older because then I actually understood what she saying in each song. Emotions is just great. A very cohesive album. Not a bad song on it in my opinion (not even the one song I skip). I'm refusing to just pick one. Lol.

Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,811) (75,812) by Bill from the UK
Great subject, but already it's hard to choose (exclamation mark). Both have their strong points and are dear to me but Emotions sways it because the upper register was perfect and unashamedly present on almost every track. The production was more coherent throughout due to MC co-producing everything. The songwriting was more mature, the ballads bigger and more atmospheric, and who cannot love the collaborations with Cole and Clivilles? On top of that, the three videos are three of her best. She'd gone out of that somewhat shy/awkwardness from her first batch and seemed genuinely confident and at ease. It was soulful and the influences from gospel and the 70s worked brilliantly. Also love the album cover and those earth tones.

Mariah Carey vs Emotions, and why.

So true, I thought the same with the smile. I miss her natural smile she always had. That pic with her "manager" is a bit scary to me. Who knows what's really going on? Hmm I think there's a reason Mariah is a beauty school drop-out. I want new music please.

Re: Martyn's tribute by M featured on Billboard (75,807) (75,809) by Andrew from UK
Martyn was a legend. He just *did* stuff and was unapologetic about anything. I listened to TTEOT and felt sad when it got to the "you'll come and save my life" part and had to turn it off. But then I remembered the meet-and-greet HIV-foundation-starting Mariah Carey-scarer and how Martyn was screaming with laughter at the bat-shit crazy emails ole Juan (remember that guy? lol) was sending me and I couldn't stop smiling. I got little work done that day. It's okay to be sad but in Martyn's case it makes little sense. His every being was about being positive and having fun. One love, eh.

Love Takes Time is a permanent part of her set list in Vegas. It's one of the #1's the show is based on.

Martyn's tribute by M featured on Billboard (75,807) by Shezz from Pk
How amazing it is to see Martyn's memory live on and basically the entire world being introduced to him and the beautiful soul that he was.

Re: Mariah Carey, debut album (75,803) (75,806) by Edward from USA
Love Takes Time was sung during all her Vega's "#1 to Infinity" shows. She didn't actually sing the whole song, but she did a decent job with it nonetheless.

Re: Mariah Carey, debut album (75,797) (75,805) by 123 from USA
She does sing it in Vegas. Along with I Don't Want to Cry and Someday. Although when she introduces the song she kind of dismisses it. The singles released from her debut album were some of her greatest ballads. It's what made us fans along with All Alone in Love and Vanishing. I only went to her Vegas show to see her perform them one last time.

Could Mariah's smile look any more forced? This photo should be meme'd. Lemme give it a lil go: "Yes, Mariah, feel that? It's a gun. That's right, a gun. Now [censored] smile, Miss Moneybags."

Special K she sang Love Takes Time during one of the Vegas shows. I believe it was the second leg of it. I have the audio from when she performed it because she sounded so good. I agree she doesn't do the song often though. I think that's the first time I've heard her sing it in years.

Attempt at explaining the choice of Stella (75,802) by Edouard from France
We all know Mariah is a smart woman. She must be very smart to navigate through the industry for so long and to fight (in her own way) the system. In a way she's very political, so to speak. I think she chose Stella as a manager because she recognize the woman was very driven and was willing to build a career for herself and her daughters. I guess Mariah's management before Stella didn't see the point in pushing Mariah's career further. They were on a payroll to do nothing. Now, I don't agree with every Mariah does in terms of fragrance, beauty salon and stuff. I'm only interested in her talent as a musician and actress, the mediums she chose to express herself. Yet, when you think about it Mariah wanted to be a beautician at one point so the beauty salon does make sense to her. I can imagine that. I also understand that today's pop acts have to branch out and expand their horizon. It's not just about the music anymore if you want to stay relevant. I think by choosing someone eager to make it, thirsty some might say, Mariah actually made a strong bold and smart choice to ensure her staying in the public conscience and getting us ready for new music.

Songs Mariah wrote for other artists (75,801) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I'm so fascinated, I just found this on YouTube. I only knew that she wrote for Allure and for Trey Lorenz. You really can hear Mariah in all of these songs. But only the lambs and a few more know what a brilliant songwriter and producer Mariah is. I wish she had sung some of these brilliant songs by her self.

The beauty shop (75,800) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Truthfully speaking I am not in support of this latest venture but I wish MC the best of luck. I just wish MC would focus on one thing at a time, right now I would like for her to put her all into the music and her new record label because as we have seen with everything team MC as of late nothing is properly executed or properly promoted and that is not a good look for a so called professional.

Re: Mariah Carey, debut album (75,797) (75,799) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, it's such a good live song. A typical Mariah love song at its best. I used to watch the clip from that 93 Thanksgiving-concert over and over again. She just has so many gems for a live version. Like someone said, we need new versions not only the number ones. But LTT is a number one which should get more attention.

Re: Why a beauty shop? (75,792) (75,798) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Haha Mimi L. I think that's exactly what little Mishka said. So what's next, Britney once had the "Sketchers" cooperation. Well that won't work for MC. Honestly I also prefer Mariah would only concentrate on the new record label.

Exactly RibbonB. I still say Stella uses the Kartrasians as her main template for everything. Only difference is they actually have a market right now. Mariah did great with the MAC line but her herself doing a personal line is a risk. Why is she involving Stella in everything? Is she that easily lead? We know she is the one backing it, Stella, God bless her is not the ideal image of beauty when you think of skincare. What has MC's head so cloudy right now? Someone mentioned why she is involved with so many other things instead of the music. Well, again, Stella. Not only Stella, but Mariah and her bad judgement. Stella wants to milk MC's name for all it is worth and attach herself to it. She is really trying it all, and think about it, what can Stella do with music? MimiL the sad thing is, you are prob right about the cosmetic line and Mishka. In fact they will prob have Mishka and Sushi roll working the counter when she can get her working papers. Stella knows what she is doing and she won't let a good thing go that easily. MAC is an established well known make up line but that doesn't mean that this will be as successful. All this is doing is detracting MC and her attention from music. It just seems like everything is started and never finishes. It's all over the place.

Article: Mariah is launching a beauty company with her manager (75,794) by Malcolm from Asia
Here we go again with another "partnership". I just wish all the best for Mariah, I hope we are not seeing a bigger problem with all of this in the future. Stella is so obsessed with the Kardashians that she's really going down that path. With all of this unusual decisions, you can really tell what kind of a manager Stella is. I can imagine her creating this ideas and persuading Mariah after she got the news that Mariah's MAC line was a success. Professional leecher. Good luck to Mariah.

Re: Why a beauty shop? (75,790) (75,792) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Only the Kardashians would never pull such a foolish stunt. All their business ventures are thought out and organized and "successful". I put successful in quotations because that's a key word. Team Bulochnikov however pulls out ideas from their arse crack *insert fake British accent* and throw it against a wall and they go with whatever sticks. Unfortunately nothing stuck since all of these bright ideas are abandoned half way or right after its release. I'm sure little Mishka was out there saying "Oh M, Kylie has a cosmetics line, you should totes have one for yourself, you're so hot" and bam they went shopping for an outlet.

Re: Tribute concert (75,780) (75,791) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
That was really nice of her. I am not a fan of Ariana but this was a nice gesture and I do feel bad for her too because even though this incident was not her fault, I'm sure she feels somewhat guilty that it happened right after her concert so she might feel indirectly responsible. That's a heavy weight to carry, especially at such a young age, or any age for that matter. I heard her mom helped some of the kids out by ushering them backstage. Ariana must be traumatized too, so it's brave of her to return to the same place, so I respect her for that. It indeed is a sweet gesture.
