Yes I'm also just looking forward to the music. By the looks of her social media she is doing everything right this time to potentially have a hit, but like you say it's important to just focus on enjoying the music and not having any over expectations

Just a suggestion: when MC16 drops, try to focus on enjoying the music instead of worrying about #1's or chart positions. That way, you're not setting yourself up to be disappointed.
Mariah's already done it all, she's a legend, and legends don't have anything to prove. The music scene isn't what it used to be, and chart success doesn't always reflect how good a song actually is. This new album might not have a massive hit, but that doesn't mean it won't have songs with hit potential. Some of her best work has never been on the radio. So let's just enjoy it for what it is.
I see MC16 as an unexpected gift. Whether or not it tops the charts, we're lucky to be getting new music from her. Let's enjoy the ride.

Financial terrorism (109,017)
by Lambi from USA
| |

Anyway guys, here is the full Morgan case. I know most are into the music here and probably don't care. You can just scroll away. But I pay attention to lawsuits now after learning about the financial terrorism they do to big stars. I studied a bit of law as well. I read and simplified it so you don't have to.
1. Morgan Carey sues Mariah and her publisher, co-writer, and Andy Cohen's book label for defamation (saying false, harmful things) in her memoir.
2. The court drops the case against the publisher, co-writer, and Andy Cohen.
3. The court also drops most of the case against Mariah, but allows two statements from the book to go forward.
4. The judge gives Mariah 20 days to respond.
5. Mariah files her answer, but it isn't signed correctly (not "verified").
6. Morgan asks the court to: • Declare Mariah in default (automatic loss), • Give him a win (summary judgment), • Throw out her defenses and counterclaim.
7. On April 12, 2024, the court rules: • No default - Mariah's answer is okay enough. • No early win - Morgan has to prove his case at trial. • Most of Mariah's defenses stay, except one (statute of limitations).
8. Now the case will go to trial to decide: • Were Mariah's statements true or false? • Did she say them on purpose to hurt Morgan?
Stay tuned for the next episode of Judge Judy.

Lambi, sorry for thinking you were also Baby from Dreamville. Your posts are simliar in length and style to Baby from Dreamville. Maybe he or she will post today. I am glad you are here on the board. Please stick around for as long as you would like. I hope you understand that we are a tight group of board members who only want the best for MC. We have been through all of MC's highs and lows in the past 30 years. We can get very defensive questioning some of her professional decisions. However, it seems like we can all be happy again today because MC16 is finally on the way.

Some people seriously need to get off their high horse. Bill is an appreciated member of this board. When he stepped away for a while, a lot of us genuinely missed him.
A bunch of us have been here for over a decade. We've supported Mariah through her ups and downs, bought the music, defended her when it counted, and yes, we've also kept it real when needed. We've seen plenty of people come and go, showing up with loud opinions and disappearing just as fast. Some may not like what Bill said, but no one here gets to question his or anyone else's place fandom.
If for some of you the idea of being a fan means clapping for everything and pretending everything's perfect all the time, that's not what this board is about. And if hearing a different opinion is too much for you, you might want to grab a helmet, it's 2025.
I've said it before: one of the reasons this board has lasted over 20 years is because it's always allowed for different opinions. Not just blind praise, but real talk too. That's what keeps it interesting. Every time this place turns into an echo chamber, it just dies out.
And yeah, sometimes we get frustrated and show a little tough love. But that's only because we know what Mariah is capable of. That doesn't mean we don't love her or support her any less.
I actually appreciate reading different opinions, even ones I don't agree with. That back and forth is what makes this board work. It's not a fan club where everyone's forced to say the same thing.
Bill, you've been part of this board for years, and most of us really value what you bring. Don't even think about disappearing.

I wish for that too. That would have been fabulous. I remember when I heard Vanishing for the first time, back in 1990. I was playing it over and over and it still remains one of my favourite songs. Pure, clean and real.

Well, I know it ain't gonna happen but since I have a little extra time. I'd like an Adele-like album. No rap. No r&b. No vocal layering. No wall of background singers. Just her and piano or her and guitar. Some love songs mixed in with some hope songs mixed in with some introspective songs. Imagine a quiet album with songs as stripped down as Languishing, Close My Eyes, My All, With You, Camouflage, Vanishing, Music Box, Looking In, Reflections, Petals, Cry, Portrait. And for the voice. Maybe keep it down to what can be replicated live even if the venue is too cold, too hot, missing an umbrella holder, short circuits ear monitors, has no running water for humidifiers, only let you in with less than 7 hours sleep. And only use the whistle twice. Yeah, that would be a dope album.

Randy, I believe MC got our memo after seven years. Lol. I really feel MC16 is going to be a perfect match of great vocals and tracks to go with MC's current voice. These new songs definitely will not be sung in the key of Emotions or Fantasy. We will find out Friday hard she has been working in the studio for past 4 years.

Type: Dangerous (109,010)
by Bobby A from United States

MC loves provacative song and album titles. I just wonder if Type: Dangerous is a poke at the men who have had some type affect on her life and how she approaches new relationships now. I listened to Obsessed and Clown today just to wonder what MC will say in T:D. By the way, the distorted video and audio today was a genius move along with MC wearing the t-shirt. The song we heard in the background of today's video had a flow to it reminisce of the 70s the Jones Girls classic, You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else. Anyway at least we know T:D isn't GTFO or I Don't with Anderson .Paak and Rae Khalil co-writing.

Based on her current voice and online rumors, I don't think this album is going to be for the 90s Mariah fans. It's going to be an upbeat pop/urban record. Though if she just did a ballad with Barbra and Ari, she probably still has it in her to include a couple of ballads. All these car snippets are intriguing. They're probably part of the concept for the first single. I don't remember her doing this for Caution. She did for Miamtec singles (Art of Letting Go and Beautiful) which she was really excited about. I can't wait to see what's happening on June 6th.

Mimi L. did she say this Friday we’d know more about MC16 era or the single was going to be released? I think this Friday might just be the announcement - she needs to build the hype a bit. "Eric B. is president" must be sampled in the single as per the teaser. Where did you hear the "Type: Dangerous" bit?

Stacey, I didn't have any side dishes ready, but I do have some tea today. Type: Dangerous samples Eric B. Is President and possibly Dennis Edward's Don't Look Any Further. I suspect that Anderson .Paak produced T:D because he loves to use 70s and 80s samples. MC said at her Mimi anniversary Spotify listening party yesterday that "We will know a whole lot of things on June 6th." She is one of the Ultimate Icon honorees at the BET Awards on June 9th. Also, she will be performing as well. It is going around on the web that MC has signed a distribution deal with Atlantic Records. Finally, Kristofer Buckle replied to a fan yesterday on his Instagram account about MC16 and he said, "It's worth the wait." I guess Anderson .Paak probably said to MC let's create some new music and get your album completed.

I want to enjoy this new era beginning June 6th because I know this would be a final era from her. I hope her team would make it right this time, the final time. We don't know when we're gonna get a new era after this. I hope MC16 would bring commercial success, 20th No 1 perhaps. Thank you so much for writing this post. I hadn't seen it because, honestly, I've avoided this board lately because of the mean-spirited comments I see. Your words are a beautiful example of empathy. I'm going to copy/paste them for future reference when I need to remember that there are people who accept Mariah unconditionally. And not because she's Mariah Carey but because she's a human being like the rest of us.

Show some humanity (108,825)
by Manuel from Germany

Dear people on this board, have you no heart? Honestly the negativity on this board is painful. Do any of you know what it's like to be her? It's waking up every day and remembering you're not allowed to just be. That if you sound tired, you're "washed up".
If you're quiet or having fun with yourself, you're a "diva".
If you gain weight, it's magnified - literally - with a lens. And now, if you're medicated [...] and are dealing with the loss of family members and the end of a relationship, you "had a stroke"? WTF?
Being Mariah is having your voice - the very thing that saved you - become a measuring stick they beat you with. Your voice - your literal lifeline - being turned into a battlefield. Every note Mariah's ever sung has been dissected, including on this board. Praised, worshipped, mocked, measured. And when your voice is that good - the pressure to never slip is inhuman.
I guess for her lip-syncing isn't lying. It's surviving. It's choosing to still show up when the heartbreak is louder than the applause. When she may rather feel like grieving. How many times has she stood in front of thousands of us while screaming inside? She's been singing through breakdowns, betrayals, miscarriages, racist industry BS, and a horrible childhood and youth before she was even famous. And yes, sometimes she shows up because she signed the paper, not because she is feeling it. But she goes on stage anyway, because she knows that somewhere you might be out there. Some kid like she once was, staring at the ceiling, praying to be loved. And if at this point her lipsync can keep that kid alive another night, she'll wear the diamonds and fake it. She doesn't do music, she is music. This isn't a job. It's not even a career. It's how she breathes. If you call yourself a lamb, you should know as much, because that's what drew you to her. And even when she tries to disappear, the music doesn't stop coming. This industry effed her over, again and again, pimped her pain, tried to own her. When you're a legend, they forget you're human. So quitting might look like freedom to you, but to her, that would feel like letting them win. Because that voice, even cracked, even lip-synced, even trembling is still her. And as long as she's got it, she'll use it how she chooses. Not for the charts. Not for the Grammys. Not for those greedy ones of you who see her as a product that is to remain Daydream Mariah forever. For her. And for the ones who still need it. And if you don't need it, leave. She is an artist. She knows that when she walks on that stage, somebody in that crowd remembers who they are, because they see her still fighting to be. She was never supposed to make it. A mixed-race girl with a broken home, bipolar disorder, and a five-octave range?
Please. But here she is. Still here. Still selling out stadiums. Not because the industry let her.
But because she refused to disappear. So have some humanity inside you and stop projecting your unresolved issues on her. Imagine yourselves in her position. When she is ready, she will speak her truth. Until then, enjoy what she has to offer now, or enjoy her legacy. It's all there. She is as real as it gets right now, medicated and all. That is her, a human being. And she is still showing up, looking like a goddess, selling out, going number one every year. Love to you all.

Nasty, nasty comment (108,996)

No one suggested you go into "hibernation". It's interesting, though, that when I noted your incredible negativity and nasty comment, you responded by trying to deflect from it and instead gain sympathy by saying you'd disappear. No, you don't have to hibernate, but I would appreciate it - as would others, judging by their responses to my original comment - if you would tone down your poison comments. They really negate the purpose of this board and put a black cloud over it, and it affects a lot of us.

Correct, I am sad and unhappy that Mariah Carey is now nothing but a shadow of her former glorious and wonderfully captivating self. You and your kind can continue ignoring it. Perhaps I'll go back into hibernation again and pretend this isn't happening. Mariah I pray you get the help you need, God bless you always.

She didn't confirm it'll be released so yes it might be a teaser but something big is possibly happening on June 6th because in the DFAU remix video calendar it showed a Caution sign on June 6th. The Type: Dangerous one I saw someone posted on UKmix not sure where they got the info from.

Mimi L. did she say this Friday we’d know more about MC16 era or the single was going to be released? I think this Friday might just be the announcement - she needs to build the hype a bit. "Eric B. is president" must be sampled in the single as per the teaser. Where did you hear the "Type: Dangerous" bit?

Do you remember the calendar featured on the DFAU Kaytranada Remix video? We slept on the June 6th date. There was a caution sign on that day and I guess only Mimi L kind of tried to figured that out. Turns out it is an important announcement date. Sorry Mariah. We need to stop fighting each other here and try to have some fun as fans.
