Re: Nevermind, it's a bop (71,776) (71,782) by Licia from USA
The longer version kind of helps. I still don't like that semi fast vocal moment in the first verse. It gets better for me on the chorus. There's hope I may purchase this song on Friday. Lol I agree with you on the lyrics. I don't like how she's turning this on him. Hopefully there's a part in the full version where she takes responsibility for her part in the situation. Afterall the pictures and Snapchat videos of her don't lie. Marissa you know how this goes. It's everyone's fault except for Mariah. Lol.

I have a feeling there will be a second season of Mariah's World (if the network doesn't cancel the show). The next season will be about Mariah's wedding to Bryan, and them going on honeymoon (of course Stella and her family will join them). I'm already curious how the will film the wedding night.

Re: Mariah interview (71,767) (71,780) by Dennis from Miami, FL
I don't remember any other time, exept for Daydream promo in London, when Mariah mentioned Madonna at all. And why always Madonna's first album? Why not True Blue or Like a Virgin? She also mentions those demos for VOL and Hypnotized. Will we ever hear them?

Re: MW episode 8 : Mimi L review (71,773) (71,779) by Licia from USA
I told y'all they were going to make it seem as if she cancelled the wedding. It's embarrassing for the Mariah Carey to be dumped. Blusharella was not going to allow that to happen even though she was part of the cause of the relationship ending. Lol I so hope there's no season 2 of this mess.

Re: Nevermind, it's a bop (71,776) (71,778) by Will from England
Personally, I thought it almost sounded as if she wrote it from both James' and her own perspectives rather than just hers.

I hate that I missed the birthday outing with Nick and his mom. I love to see them all together. She seems to let loose a little more with Nick and the kids (sometimes). I respect them trying to be civil for the babies. I love that Nick always makes sure his mom is there for the twins as well.

Nevermind, it's a bop (71,776) by Marissa from USA
What a difference a full video makes. Sounds like a semi-bop and probably the most solid song she's made in years. I thought it was going to be trash from the first video I saw. Lyrically I'm not feeling it only because she's trying to frame James as this horrible person when she was practically (if not fully) cheating on him for a large chunk of the relationship. Her disrespecting her relationship almost the whole time and trying to make it seem like he was a shitty person is evil and I'm disappointed in the way she's acting. Sorry positive lambs, but based on her behavior, James deserved way (caps) better than her. Being pretty was about all she brought to the table in that particular relationship. I'd gladly take Mariah sloppy seconds: a nice, lowkey, romantic and generous billionaire? Sign me the f*** up while Mariah takes L's with a backup dancer. It's gonna take a lot for me to overlook the context in which the song was written, but I think it's pretty nice from what I heard.

Re: New song (71,746) (71,775) by darrian liu from taiwan
I think you're talking about her airy, whispery voice. It's not an actual register, just some texture manipulation, but I too, don't like her voice in the snippet. When she goes into the fuller, chest voice it sounded tight and strangled, although she should be comfortable in those notes (G4-D5). Her voice sounds dry and lacks that punch, fullness and brightness she had in the 2014-2015 shows of Beacon theater and the SSFT European dates. As a result her airy voice starts to sound dry too. Her airy voice sounds better in MIAM and I think sounds the best in Charmbracelet era. She should see a vocal coach while she still has it. She has to cancel season 2 and do a hiatus, seriously. Taking a four year break like Adele after 21 is a good idea. In those 4 years she can get a grip on herself, be with her kids, train those vocals, be healthier and reflect on her life and career and most importantly reflect on the people she has around. Remove toxic ones (looking at you, Blush ).

I do love her vocals and the beat so far. I can't freaking wait until the 3rd, like Mariah stop the teasing with your music just drop it with no info, that would be much better lol, can't wait.

MW episode 8 : Mimi L review (71,773) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
1) M and Co. are having a good time at the zoo. It's their last stop for the tour.
2) Unnecessary scene between Bryan and Tanaka (basically talking about how they're both excited about him being the co-creative director).
3) Haha M is wearing the most ridiculously impractical high heels (stilettos, no less, not even wedged heels) to a safari park. Can relate 100%.
4) She's putting on her last show. Stella is crying watching M as she performs. Post show celebrations. Drama-naka is already complaining about how Anthony is not down with Bryan's new promotion and he's complaining about it to Stella.
5) Nick is here. They are celebrating Dembabies birthday together. It's a cute scene. M says they have a cool and great relationship and they always have each others backs. M and Nick's mom also seem to have a good relationship. They are laughing with each other over Nick's turban. Roc said Nick looks like Aladdin, haha.
6) Stella comes in talking about how James' people have sent 3 dates none of which works for M's schedule and makes a remark about how those people sit around and play with their balls all day while M is actually busy because she's a superstar. Now it's true M is a superstar but she just mentioned 2 scenes back that she has some time off now that her tour is over, so why not make an effort? Stella is being a diva and talking about how M doesn't have time, jeez, like this wedding was apparently supposed to happen before the tour started, you already postponed it so now that the tour is over they can't spare one date? M asks Stella what will she do, like M, it's your life girl.
7) Mishka's Bat Mitzvah scene. Honestly it looks like she doesn't even though the people at the party, since she is just standing around with M and her other cousin. Stella talks about how Mishka and M have become best friend. Totally normal.
8) Tanaka introduces M to his mom. Ok now we're at the gazebo scene with M and Tanaka, get this, it's even cheesier than the preview. He's actually dancing with her in the gazebo alone and fixing her hair and holding her hands, kissing her hand and all. They talk about whether M will marry Packer or not, blah blah.
9) Anthony just gets to know about the co-creative director situation. Tony is not happy, but he accepts it.
10) Studio/preview moment.
11) Mariah tells Stella she can't go through with the wedding. They discuss about how people thought it was a perfect relationship but apparently James put her through hell, Stella says something like "the minute he pushed back the first wedding date". I'm a little confused, at the beginning of the show didn't they show that Stella asks M if she wants to postpone the wedding and M agrees and she calls James and it looks like James was upset about it. Anyways they talk about how horrible the relationship was.
12) Hawaii. There's a very short scene of M singing 2 lines from VOL while she's playing the piano and I wish there was more of it.
13) Back to the Hawaii beach scene, we again have a moment of Tanaka and Mariah dancing, her tipping back and him pulling her towards him. How many times do we need to see this? Haha, it's so corny and weird. Just 5 seconds ago she's talking about taking some time and loving herself and she's already jumped into a "new relationship". So they are really going forward with this. There is a huge montage of scenes from the beginning of Tanaka and MC moments. He's talking over it about how he'll now go after her with all he's got because she's the girl of his dreams and he's definitely sure that they'll be together now. Ok kissing scene. Haha they show the same kissing scene 3 times for impact. That's a wrap folks.

I Don't (71,772) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Here is a longer version of the preview than the one on Mariah's twitter. It sounds much better than the previous song we heard, so I'm waiting on the full track, which will be released this Friday. I haven't watched the episode yet, but from this clip, is Mariah trying to say she left James? Wasn't it pretty much confirmed that he left her and she was surprised?

Mariah's World: Finale aka Dear Lord no S2 (71,771) by Lila from United States
1) I just want to pat all the fans, who had hope that those pictures of Mariah and Tonka Toy on the beach were for a video, on the back. Sorry to have to tell you that she really and truly played herself and it was for the last scene of episode 8 where she makes it out that she and Tonka Toy are headed into a relationship.
2) Funny how even now she's still wearing that ring and he's not allowed to stand next to her entering and exiting venues let alone hold her hand.
3) Mariah conveniently skips over the fact that James called the relationship off and makes it out as though she broke it off or it was a mutual split.
4) As I suspected, the best part, of the entire series, was the moment with Mariah, Nick, Beth, and the twins were together celebrating the twins birthday. It was the only thing that you could tell off the bat was genuine. Mariah and Beth were making fun of Nick's turban together. Mariah said that they have a special relationship and they have one another's backs. It was just so cute.
5) Of course, we just had to get scenes of Mishka's Bar Mitzvah. They should've just inserted more family footage of the birthday celebration.
6) Tonka Toy gets promoted to co-creative director but no one informs Anthony of this so he's understandably upset. It's another instance where, we as fans, get to again understand what he meant in his Access Hollywood interview when he said to just watch Mariah's World and we'll see why things happen the way that they do.
There was other stuff but honestly it was all just filler nonsense and or cheesy. Nothing to really care about. Overall, the entire episode was much to do about nothing and like the rest forgettable.

Why recreating WBT? (71,766) by R&B Junkie from Poland
I've been listening to Solange Knowles' "Losing You" and I wonder why they keep on trying to recreate WBT. I know it was the song of the decade but it is not the best song that Mariah has delivered in her career. Y'all should check out Solange's effort: there is happy funky tune mixed with sad lyrics - isn't it similar formula to what MC did with Fantasy? They did great job with You Don't Know What To Do, we know it failed because of various reasons, but they better put all their forces into Fantasy pt. 2 at least if they want to do some pleasure for me.

Social media (71,765) by Will from England
I know she's on a self-imposed social media break, however it is strange that if there is a song to be released tonight/whenever, there's nothing more to go on other than the snippet we've all heard now. Literally no one knows if or when this song is to be released, is it an actual single, is there an album to follow, what the song is even called, single cover art etc. There has been nothing but speculation and all from one 30 second clip of Mariah singing.

Yes May, I always loved that about her voice too. I adored the first time I heard her use it in Someday. Emotions is my absolute favorite MC album. Back then even her breathing between vocals sounded amazing. I just feel like it was much richer then and now whatever is happening for the first time it is sounding off.

Mariah's last try (71,763) by Boy from The Netherlands
I was listening to Donnell Jones' "Where I Wanna Be" after I listened to Mariah's snippet from her new single. I was just in the mood. While streaming I came across We Belong Together in the suggestion bar. And I thought F it just listen for the "nostalgia". I must note that I haven't saw the WBT video in years. While I was watching the video (partly) my brains was spontainly connecting stuff. I know I know there are a lot of theories going on here. But the parts that got my attention were just so "coinciding" with Mariah's curent life.
I feel like that Mariah and her "team" are literally recreating the concept of her WBT video. The whole james and the dancer thing. How they like showcased that Mariah chose a younger boy (a.k.a true love) in contrast to her older fiancé (who has financial security but isn't the true love for her). How she just dramatically sings in the booth and removes her wedding ring. Mariah and her team are orchestrating this whole comeback thing for a while now I guess. The whole break up "anthem" thing started with You're Mine (Eternal) and this supposedly new single is kind of the third attempt to recreate the WBT magic. They kind of even have the familiar construction as WBT with the Donnell Jones' "Where I Wanna Be" reference aka the Babyface reference in WBT. The new years eve disaster aka the Glitter disaster. So they can capitalize on that.
I must say as devoted I was and somehow still am because I am commenting on here for the first time in years. Her music is just simply said really really wack. Even the way how she sings in the snippet like wow really? It's so dated and little girlish.
I am impressed of how she lowered her standard as a musician. For me her musical downfall really began around E=MC2 with that I'm that chick' esque songs. Like come on... You are the woman who wrote Slipping Away, Music Box, impeccable remixes and other really high quality shizz. As I am writing I will give her new "song" a change. After that I am just dropping the mic with her.
I know as a reader it feels like as I am abandoning her but I must accept that Mariah is a human being with her own taste and opinion and maybe she finally is becoming the person that she is showcasing to the general public. And beacuse I have no right to change nor judge her I must let her be and move on with my life. And finally stop stressing over why such a musically gifted person would destory her reputation like this.

Re: Adele interview (71,753) (71,762) by TJ from Norway
I too thought that her having the twins would inspire her to make good music, but it didn't. She's 46, but she's not acting like one. She's so out of touch with the real world that I don't see make really good music in the next years. I used to be crazy about her release new music, but now I'm like "so what?"

The Mariah Report (71,761) by Malcolm from Asia
Why on earth I only listen to this podcast now, all of our thoughts on Mariah right now was like synced in on their latest podcast. Like how Mariah's World is total garbage, gagging on Mishka (they read a part of Mariah Smith review on NYmag where Mishka confronts Mariah about that butt photo and it said: "Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven, take this wretched child off of my tv screen and put her in a classroom. We also ask that you show us her worker's permit. Amen." I can't ), hating on Stella and thankful that she's not been around lately, and how Mariah's team don't have any idea what brand Mariah have and that they don't know how to appreciate the lambs. Check it out, it's hilariously on point and frank.

Re: MW finale plot twist? (71,742) (71,759) by Shezz from Pk
Also, I feel this single has just been conjured up for MW, to deal with the James fiasco and because of the Label's push for music. I don't expect there to be any roll out or promotion or any appearances to support it. Label probably didn't even invest much in the video from the looks of it. It will be another Triumphant and not make the album cut.
