The opinion conundrum (singing) - what would you do? (72,404) by Nikki from usa
1. If you were a singer and you had a jam packed schedule for promo with only an hour or two to spare, but you heard fans at radio stations were begging you to come visit them while you were in town. If you go, there's a good chance you'll be late to your other promo and get trashed for being tardy once again. If you don't go the papers will trash you by claiming you don't care about your fans and the radio stations assume you dissed them. What would you do?
2. You are a professional singer who really wants to prove themselves, but you overestimated your recuperation time. You had 5 great live performances so far, but the last one you were a bit hoarse. The sound of your voice was different than usual and you had trouble hitting some of your notes due to all the belting 2 days beforehand. Gossip is swirling that maybe you can't really sing and everything has been a hoax or lip sync after all. You have a medium sized event coming up that will be televised. Unfortunately, after you fully recovered, your label made you come in to put more impressive vocals on a song you just cut and re-sing the whole thing. Now, your voice is in worse shape than before and the event is tonight. What would you do? Sing live and be ostracized or lip it while people continue to speculate about your ability?
3. If you only had 2 options: sing 1 concert completely live that's syndicated worldwide once a year and lip-sync 40 mini concerts every year or lip-sync 1 worldwide syndicated concert every year and sing 40 mini concerts live. What would you do?
4. Add on - The worldwide concert isn't paid, but the 40 mini concerts are. Now, what?
5. Is it more important for the fans to believe you can sing or the world?

Wow Nick (72,403) by Nikki from usa
I can recall twice where Nick said "you never know, there could be a reconciliation" 2 months after their divorce began and once again last year. That's a lot of double talk. However, I do agree with him about Tanaka. I never thought he and Mariah were a couple. Mariah's stiff as a board around him and he's not treated as a significant other. I've never seen a man of Mariah's walk behind her or see Mariah not beam when talking about him. The way she talks about Tanaka isn't romantic. "He has many nice qualities"? Hot. Steamy. I thought she might have a candid moment and we'd get her side of the story, instead we got a fairy tale drama. A bad one. But, like I said before, maybe she legally couldn't discuss it and a made up story is all that could be provided. The way Mariah discussed this docu-series sounded like a behind the scenes of putting on a tour and live performances as if this would be all about the tour. We got very little of that. I think maybe it started out that way, but then Mariah focused more on her impending nuptials instead. When the breakup happened she wasn't left with enough footage to do the original concept. That hurt may have still been a bit too fresh and he clearly made demands about getting cut out of the show. That may not have left a lot of options open. I don't know why Mariah would want to be portrayed as a cheater and if this was thought through I don't think she would've gone through this direction.

I love this song. I'd love to hear Mariah sing it, but Valarie Pettiford (actress who played the mom) did a great job bringing the song to life.

Nick talking about the fake boyfriend (72,400) by Licia from USA
Nick is going to get beat up for telling the truth about what we already know. Lol. He needs to speak out more when it comes to the kids. If they had no kids together or he wasn't active in their life I wouldn't feel that he has any right to say anything, but since his children are involved he has a right to speak on it. He always says he doesn't question her decisions, but clearly this bothers him. *shrugs*

Funny how she denies that he's asking for more money and there's no season two yet, but she didn't really deny that he was just brought in as a fake love interest. That'd be the first thing I would deny.

So good. Mariah was actually witty and rather candid for a change.

Like a star (72,396) by RibbonB from USA
I was listening to some old Corinne Bailey Rae and I could just imagine Mariah sinking her vocal chords into this gem. Mariah could be great on an understated downtempo track with superior lyrics. An album of Mariah singing some great covers could be an epic moment. Just singing, no stunts or ties to her personal life could be refreshing. I would love her to intertpret one of Adele's songs as well, "When We Were Young" comes to mind.

Re: Weird era (72,386) (72,394) by Gigi from USA
That's my concern too. Yes, the video went #1. Heck, even my 64-year-old mother saw it (along with the fishnet gym picture). And guess what? She called me and said, "Honey, I know you like Mariah, but something is seriously wrong with that woman." It was unfortunate to hear, but I can't defend her anymore. Clicks mean nothing.

The era was beautiful, the tour was soulful and she looked sexy.

I Don't / the new marketing model (72,392) by Butterfly from
"I Don't" is a throwaway. The lyrics are below average. Her tone is not listenable anymore. All I hear is Mariah mumbling her way through songs nowadays. She really needs a vocal recovery which requires stop smoking weed, put the bottle down and rest properly. She should really listen to "Touch My Body" and We Belong Together". Clear, smoothly, natural and tender vocals. I don't think Mariah understands the new marketing model for musicians. It's not about you being all up in the public eye or viral moments (I rather call them embarrassing viral moments). It's about quality and being respected by the people. She really depends on a magnificent image.

If Brett is a good friend, why recommend a person who doesn't have an experience and credibility on managing stars like Mariah? And Mariah for eventually hiring her, what is she even thinking? Didn't she have that other options or even advisers to make an awful decision like that? She's more than this, she deserves better than this. Quality first before everything. Having a phenomenal era in the 90's and that Glitter meltdown to Emancipation, she should know by now how these things work. Can we turn back time? Ugh.

Re: Weird era (72,375) (72,386) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
That is my concern as well, that this whole "I Don't" went to #1 thing will be inflated and presented to Mariah. Stella will use these to justify what an amazing work she has done so we can expect them to be around for longer than we thought. It's a shame, by the time they leave (if they do) Mariah's image will be torn apart and any attempt at salvaging it will be extremely difficult if not impossible. I wish Mariah opens her eyes, there is time still. Don't let this woman ruin you.

Re: MC copied Whitney and Aretha's runs (72,374) (72,385) by B from USA
Mariah's run were (are) better than Whitney's and Aretha's. Mariah's range is why she can match them run for run and surpass them.

Re: Weird era (72,378) (72,384) by B from USA
Mariah needs to work with new directors and photographers. Instead of making videos like I Don't make videos like My All. Mariah's image is in tatters. She needs a stylist, an A list stylist like Rachel Zoe. Mariah looks amazing but she dresses like a hooker or a little girl playing dress up in her mother clothes (the mother is obviously a stripper known as Candy Cane). Mariah dress elegantly and sexy and stop trying so hard it makes you look awkward and uncomfortable. Make videos like My All and The Roof.

Morgan Lip-Carey (72,383) by Edward from USA
I've always thought the truth lies somewhere in the middle when it comes to Mariah in relation to Tommy, Eminem, and Morgan. I'm glad Morgan expressed his opinion about Mariah being worth more dead than alive, he might've actually saved her, and no, I don't believe in the Illuminati and conspiracy theories. He's definitely bitter, but it doesn't mean that there's no truth to what he said. We know Mariah has a booze problem. It doesn't surprise me that she might've been diagnosed as bipolar back in 2001 either. He was still very much involved in her life during E=MC2, but the ultimate betrayal was using his brother's pass (not having to sign a disclosure agreement) and then using personal info against her. What really surprises me is the fact that he not only put Mariah's personal business out (being bipolar, drinking and not taking her meds or mixing them with alcohol), but he also called his own mother an alcoholic. That was a hit below the belt. Mariah did her best to help Alison, but addicts and prostitutes accept help when they want to. You can put them in rehab and being adult they can walk out whenever they want, as simple as that, and that what many of them usually do. There wasn't anything Mariah could've done to make her stay clean or commit to rehabilitation. Helping her while she's not helping herself is like giving her the drugs thus condoning her behavior, so I don't think Mariah should do shit for her until she shows real signs of change. I saw a video with Alison running a marathon. She's supposedly been clean for nearly a year now, but she has a lot to prove since she has caused so much pain to her family. Morgan might've told the truth, but it wasn't his business, and the means he use takes away from any credibility that he might've had. It's really sad because for me family is everything. Mine has always been there unconditionally. I would rather walk away from them than hurt them in any way. I hope the petals left on her flower don't keep scattering.

Re: The most beautiful era (at least to me) (72,337) (72,382) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The Charmbracelet era was really special. I do love the tour too. I went to a concert and I was in heaven. The show was great, she looked so beautiful and was always smiling and talking to the fans between the songs. And then the "Bringin' on the heartbreak" performance, it was out of this world. Superstarpower at its best.

Re: Weird era (72,378) (72,381) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I never liked Madonna and her music, it's not my style (except some songs) but Madonna created an image from the beginning and I have to say it suits her. She was always an entertainer. And that's the problem with Mariah now. Most of the people know her as a singer and diva. That created and latest fake image for example the MW "documentary" doesn't suit Mariah and never will. It's the complete opposite of everything that comes in mind when thinking of MC. How can Mariah think Stella is good for her? Crustella is really the most weird one of all. I can imagine she's laughing about Mariah and not only with her.

Well, well, well (72,380) by RibbonB from USA
I hope this particular Tanka story is true that he is demanding a raise to fawn over Mariah on a season two of MW. He supposedly was happy to fawn all over her for the press and free stuff, but now is demanding a big raise to continue for a season 2. He also wants press appearance fees. Just cancel season two, or drop all the sychophants and focus on Mariah, her music and her kids. Better yet, just no season 2.
