I don't always agree with some of the things George says, but I do understand where he's coming from at times. It's frustrating to witness this downward spiral. I'm not in love with I Don't, but I don't necessarily hate it. It's a leap above Crapfinity, but I still believe she could have done better. I don't think any of us hate her (even dildo man lol). Of course physical and digital sales contribute the most chart points but how will a song get mass exposure? Through radio. By having great airplay gains, more people will be exposed to the song and some who like the song will either stream it, buy it or both. Or, the second option is to have it viral through social media through some "challenges" (think Harlem Shake, Juju on that Beat, Bad and Boujee, Black Beatles). That means the song will be a hit through streaming, which seems to happen more and more frequently. So to have I Don't be a #1 or AIWFCIY be a #1, they need to gain airplay like crazy or be used in some sort of funny challenge. (Sunday 5 February 2017; 3:08)

The iTunes website hasn't updated yet, as it was showing "I Don't" at #44 last night. The "real-time" reports show the song is currently at #23 - which is still good but I'm wondering how far it'll drop after Lady Gaga's performance at the Super Bowl tomorrow. I'd imagine there will be a boost in her songs sales like WBT after NYE. (Sunday 5 February 2017; 1:21)

Re: General public (72,181) (72,194) by May from Denmark I will spam the board with this last messege before bed (the only time I really have to read and write all the comments that's why my posts appear one after another). Outside this forum on IG or YT I always defend MC 100% and I'm very positive, quite enthusiastic with her projects, I do share a bit of criticism but I feel that to me, personally, this board is my way of vent things and also find other people's honest opinions which many times go along with my thoughts. This is a Mariah board afterall, IG, FB, YT, all those are public and truth is I don't want to put my idol down in front of the general public. You don't talk your private issues in public but in your home. This is like my home where I can express how I feel, sometimes good , sometimes bad. Surely I'm not alone in this. I love Mariah even in her wackiest moment and I don't want to bash her in public, I stay positive always nonetheless hoping she will find a fresh sound, for now I find comfort in her beautiful voice. I was glad to see the general public received the song that well, shame that the same can't be said about the video, it's like there was no effort. We will see how it does now, it's still in the US iTunes top 10. Maybe a push and will get to Billboard too. I have to say this out loud, there's a fair amount of garbage right now on Billboard charts, I honestly can expect anything for "I don't" which is not bad. I can't say the video will have that many more views, like darling this_is_qhm said, will anyone press the repeat button? I know I did but then I like seeing Mariah even if it's just her having a moment with herself haha but what about the general public? While I wasn't really against Stella I have to say that she killed any sort of good expectation I had with that excuse of video, only redeeming part was Mariah in the red dress burning a wedding gown. Mariah should keep friendship with Stella if that's what she wants, I'm nobody in her life to tell her who to hang with, no denial they have fun together, they could have side projects and such, but as manager Mariah needs someone new, we can all see that and I think as a fan and follower I can definitely suggest her that. Not only does she flip the camera off, but she has the engagement ring on that finger at that point. You can tell it was intentional. Makes me laugh. I like it. I'm just surprised that no articles have mentioned it, especially the one that was talking about Mariah giving James the middle finger with the video and song when she literally does. Is "I Don't" "Up Out My Face" 2.0? (72,183) by RibbonB from USA I actually liked Up Out My Face song and video. They were both fun and vibrant. "Up Out" even had one of the first mainstream moments for Nicki Minaj. The video was cool, went viral early and had a good run on BET's video show 106 and Park. But it never really made it to radio and fairly quickly dropped off. I just see some parallels with YG, minus the cute video. I do think this project is geared for that young, Kardashian type fan base and pubescent boys as someone noted. The conflict Mariah creates for herself is appealing to one fan base at the expense of the other part that cringes. I guess she is tired of middle ground and is going for extremes. I just wish she could be inspired to write some really inspired lyrics. She has gone from super wordy Memoirs era songs to sparsely worded trap songs. I hope she soon hits that perfect balance of well distilled lyrics and good music. (Saturday 4 February 2017; 20:08)

General public (72,181) by lil star from untied states It's so strange that outside of this message board (and most of the main stream media) that the new song and even video are getting allot of love. My Facebook stream (mostly gays) is flooded with positive reviews and remarks from "slay mamma", "slaying the looks", "speaking my feelings", "love this song my new jam". Most from people that have never said they were even fans of MC and some that even hate her. I'm guessing there's a disconnect between the hard core fans and the public. Also most of those people are the same people obsessed with Kim K and family lol. Not saying I'm fully on board but I also don't hate everything. The song is good, not great, not bad. The video isn't horrible besides a few outfits and awkward movements. I'm hoping this is a small step in a better direction. But we all need to give up on Mariah going classy anytime soon. If she does make an album this is her last chance to act young and maybe she knows it too. (Saturday 4 February 2017; 19:43)

First she would have to perform it to a track, which is thin and sketchy to begin with. One sound problem and it is NYE debacle on steroids. It is an OK trap beat for radio or streaming, but what would she do with it on stage, pose and flail around? That one Beautiful remix performance on BET was disastrous IMO. Why does Mariah feel the need to collaborate with lame rappers, act sexy and look so desperate? She's so much better than that. She certainly can make better music. This song isn't going anywhere. But any chance I get I come here to read others comments on various topics regarding MC, and I have to say some people just come here to spread negative vibes and energy on a daily basis. If you feel like Mariah does not interest you any longer why bother coming to a Mariah Carey message board to say the same thing over and over we get it you don't care for her or her music anymore which is fine but I feel you should go to a message board of an artist or artists that you actually like than coming here to express the same nonsense that no one cares to read about any longer. They are sending the song to many stations, but they need to go all out with promo if they want a hit. So far it's doing really well and the video is still trending #1 on YouTube, thanks mostly to (1) lambs (2) prepubescent thirsty boys (3) people clicking to see her burn her wedding dress. Haha kidding, but it's always nice to see Mariah doing well. No matter how much I disagree with some of her recent actions, I get really happy when I see Mariah doing well. Coming from a broken home and darn near poverty, you have turned yourself into a multimillionaire, and one of the most successful artists in the world, in a profession that you have always dreamed of succeeding in. You have proven that with talent and hard work, anything is possible. You have come a long way on your own so trust yourself and appreciate yourself. Behind the over the top diva, I believe there is a very insecure person who constantly needs validation. Don't let people take advantage of that anymore. 2) Give Stella the heave ho and lure Benny Medina back into her squad. 3) Wear clothes that are classier, no one is asking her to cover up but going out for a stroll on bodysuits and fishnets or with her undergarments worn as the main ensemble does nothing to flatter her. She's a beautiful woman and she can dress sexy but with class. (I'll assist B here and plug in "hire Rachel Zoe".) 4) Let other people write songs for you, you have proven time and again that you can write songs from any genre and come up with the most brilliant lyrics, you have nothing left to prove. Let others write a few songs for you, just to see how it goes and since you have already given up shame with the publicity stunts, might as well use some current young artists to get some help on the charts. Again, I think she can very well in Top 40 by herself but hopping on to a song with a current artist will open her up to newer audience. (Saturday 4 February 2017; 19:21)
