Article: Mariah Carey almost caught on fire while filming video (73,083)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Start quote: What is very real, she noted, is her new relationship with Bryan Tanaka, with whom she recently posed in the hot tub. "Um, have you ever seen me in the bathtub with anyone else before?" End quote. My response, um yes. Also look at who was behind the V-Day Hershey's bra shot, it's our very own Mishka. Stella made sure it was mentioned in a separate article along with how MC and MB are besties and love to watch Will Ferrell movies. Love how they wrote "Photography and art direction for Mariah's racy shoot was done by Mishka, the 13 year old daughter of Stella." Like no big deal, a 13 year old taking pictures of a semi nude middle aged woman in her bath tub, acting seductive. Here's the article. Sorry if it was posted before.

Yet we'll have to accept the alternate fact that under Stella's reign, Mariah has had unbridled success. Eric, you're a hater.

If Mariah danced half as much as Michael did, I don't think anyone would have an issue with her lip syncing. MJ didn't just dance, he put on a freaking show. Everything from the production to the choreography was an extravaganza. His shows were a completely different experience. Mariah, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest of the greats when it comes to singing, only has her singing to fall back on. She's just standing there and singing, her productions aren't as grand as Michael. So her voice is her center piece. You can't expect someone to do the steps Michael does and simultaneously sound perfect.

My favourite eras for this messageboard are when there is really something happening, good or bad. Maybe it sounds strange, but I like it when there is some "life" on this board. Like when Mariah released Infinity or when she performed on New Years Eve. My messageboard was flooded with messages. My favourite era for this website was when We Belong Together was huge. I remember the excitement I felt when Billboard was about to release a new list and the joy I felt when WBT was at number one for yet another week. But my favourite era was years before this website, when I became a fan in 1994. I had just bought Music Box and I discovered all her older songs. For weeks I only listened to Mariah and nothing else. I love the old days when everything Mariah released was gold. I loved her so much that in 1998 I started a website dedicated to her.

I don't know I hope she did not. I hate plastic surgery. But I noticed something different too. Could it be make-up, lights? Anyway I think the answer from Barbra Streisand is brilliant. A singer is not a model, and the voice should be the most important thing. I find it so refreshing if in this superficial business a musician gets noticed without being fake and trashy.

Stella is a vampire bat. But, bras can change the shape and look of boobage, along with aging and weight gain and having twins. IDK what if any work she has had done and I don't care, but nature does rearrange you, in addition to photoshop, contouring and a good underwire bra, or bustier and strategic tape.

Luther live (73,077)
by RibbonB from USA

Luther is one of my favorites to go to for great songs, and excellent singing. I love this live performance of "Wait for Love". The playfulness with his background singers is endearing and they all can really sing, check especially from the four minute mark onward. I know Mariah loves to have dancers hopping around her on stage, but it would be awesome to see her give a vocal clinic on stage with some excellent background vocalists. In the Bilboard article Mariah said she is not sure she will be able to get back on stage to sing live with Lionel, but hopefully she will. I can understand that once she leaves the stage, she is done, but this is a moment. She even admitted that she needs to get herself together for this tour. Lol.

LA Reid (73,076)
by RibbonB from USA

I saw a picture from Mid November with LA Reid, Mariah and DJ Khaled. So at least they still interact. I read in a random comment section that Epic records is paying Mariah not to make a new CD. Lol. It just seems as though all of Mariah's past friends and associates are hovering around Mariah, some nearer than others, but none are speaking. The Circus crew seems in charge of this debacle era. I hope somebody, particularly Mariah, knows what is really going on.

Questions for the Webmaster (73,075)

Hello. I've been a member for several years. I really appreciate all that you do to keep the site up and running. I've noticed that in the same way that Mariah has "eras", the board seems to have them as well. Sometimes there is universal excitement, other times there are personal stories, favorites lists, and more. We also go through times that are very negative, with infighting among the members. I'm curious as to what "eras" on the message board are the most fun and engaging for you. How do you see the year progressing? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

She definitely had some minor procedure done. Yes, there's contouring, but you can contour but so much. I remember when the sheep went with Mariah's tale as to why her boobs were bigger over night. She candidly explained that her boobs got bigger due to some magical push-up bras she only knew about, lol. Many people here on MCArchives Messageboard back then were burned alive, some disappeared and other were cyber-decapitated for stating it was bullshit. Maybe, just maybe, in the future, if she says her nose has been out for years, the sheep would then put the contour theory to rest. Wait a minute, it could actually be contouring, since Contourella is her manager. Wow, I had an Contour-epiphany. Remember that Mariah's nose looked like that because "Contouring" was invented by the first quarter of 1995. Stella looks like a bat with her contouring though, sorry to those little creatures for the comparison.

Do I really need to post some High School pics or 1990 VOL for those of you who are so delusional? Of course she had several nose jobs, breast augmentations, and when you see the radical weight loss it's not from dieting or strenuous bouts of exercise in the gym with heels and a teddy on. Wow, contouring, lighting, make up?

Mariah had some corrective work done after she recorded Daydream, but very minor and barely noticeable. What you're seeing lately are changes in the way her makeup is done. Sometimes the contouring is heavier on her nose giving it a thinner appearance.

Re: Michael Jackson (73,063) (73,066)

Exactly, he was more than a dancer and a vocalist, he was a genius. He was a visonary and a great lyricist. His videos were epic. Besides his voice, people went to see the show, the super production. He was a real showman, just like Madonna and Beyonce are in their concerts. Mariah and Whitney on the other hand relied on their voices, they couldn't dance, but they could sing you out of the stadium with their powerful voices. Once Whitney lost her voice, she didn't have anything to entertain with anymore and people started walking out of her concerts. People go to Mariah's concerts to hear her voice and her songs. There's nothing special about her cheap stage and her dancers, with the exception of her Christmas shows. It's like Sarah Mclaughlin. I love the woman, but she only has her voice. People go to see her on her piano singing with that beautiful voice of hers. She doesn't dance or do anything else. Now imagine if she started faking her piano playing and lipping most of her songs? Total disaster.

Who needs a label? A reality show would do (73,065)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
If she really didn't need a record deal, she wouldn't have one, period, but she obviously does. There's a lot that goes on behind to promote artists and their music. Mariah has total creative control of everything she does with her music, and I think that's backfiring somehow. Record labels do not have the big budgets they used to have to promote artists that wouldn't listen or are stuck on stupid with their bridge burning tirades. At the end of the day, Mariah is doing everything she can to be relevant, but great music. There's nothing wrong with a record label focusing on projects and artists who are actually justifying the need of a label. At this point, with or without record deal, it's kind of the same for Mariah. She's not doing anything worth putting money into. The few coins she probably made from "I Don't" wouldn't justify money spent on any type of promotion and events created for the purpose or making things happen for her. I guess there's nobody to blame this time, Mariah seems to be sabotaging herself. If I were L.A., and with her propensity to blame others for the outcome of her bad decisions, I wouldn't want to be seen hanging out with her. He is dealing with business, with artists that are still interested in the Grammys and other award shows. When Mariah and Stella make the comments they make, how do you think her label peers feel about it? Would you go near her cuckoo circle? I don't think so.

It's pretty clear she has from pictures. Barbra Streisand once said she would never get a nose job, despite being a prime candidate for one lol, because it would have a detrimental effect on her singing voice.

Michael Jackson (73,063)

This is totally irrelevant but since the issue of lip-syncing keeps coming up on this board every now and then, I'm wondering how come in the case of Michael Jackson, who from the 1990s onwards was lip-syncing ninety percent of his shows, it was never an issue. Sure, he was a dancer as much as he was a singer, but you get my point.

I first noticed the change in her nose while she was doing an interview while promoting "You're Mine", especially when she would smile. I also suspect that this affects the way she sings. If you look at earlier videos and interviews, there have been subtle changes through the years.

Yeah I think she has if you look at older videos from when she started out you can see a difference. Also I think when she had it done her singing voice changed especially when hitting certain notes. Leona Lewis had a nose job too and she can't seem to hit the notes she could before if you watch her live videos, so nose surgery must effect your singing voice.

Nose (73,060)
by Billy from Greece
| |

I've been wondering for a while whether MC has had a nose job. Sometimes, it looks just as it's always been so we can assume it is make-up and camera angles that makes it look different, or just the way her face has changed over the years. Some other times, though, it looks significantly thinner and smaller. Not that it matters, but occasionally it confuses me. If she's had one, she probably had it before the Charmbracelet era kicked in judging from the photos available. I don't know.
