Re: New song (71,746) (71,748)
by May from Denmark

I actually always thought that her breathy/whispery voice was one of her signatures. She sang almost the entire Emotions album in that voice, obviously taking away the incredible gymnastics in the climax of some of her songs, then again she was on her unstoppable mode. I always enjoyed that of her voice and find it very appealing, it made songs like Bliss and UTS sound heavenly. What I'm tired of is that rush in the melody and fast pace of words. But soon we will be hearing it. I stil have hopes it's going to be nice, but digging in the 10 years old plus RnB trunk for a sound I have my doubts.

New song (71,747)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
I don't want to judge the song this early. At least I like some parts of it based on the snippet but one thing's for sure, Mariah's career went from being messy to corny real quick. That removing of the engagement ring was so cringy and dramatically tasteless. Don't tell me that's the official music video, it's absurd. Invest on the visuals Mariah if can't pull off in the other aspects, that's key nowadays. What is happening?

New song (71,746)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
Well I am not sure what part of Mariah's voice we hear during the first snippet of the song, but it seems to be the only part of her voice she is most comfortable singing anymore. It's the part of her voice she uses when she improvises live at her shows or when she was on the behind the scenes WWHL and she sang on the spot. Whatever it is "technically" called I actually hate to say this as a Mariah fan since day one this saddens me but this part of her voice almost sounds unpleasant to listen to. I don't know what happened and as we fans often compare different eras of her voice. It is crazy that it is really sounding and again I hate to say this but unpleasant to the ears. I love Mariah and yes, I will always buy and support whatever she puts out since there will never be another that I can say had a song to comfort me in any aspect of my life. Therefore I will in return be there for her. It does lead me to be concerned though that years of drinking is really showing its effect on her vocal chords and her possible lack of sleep and any new or possibly old "bad habits" are affecting her as well. If Mariah wants to keep going as a singer I really think she needs to take care of her golden instrument a little better and it does require a certain level of discipline and possible lifestyle changes on Mariah's part and nobody else. The people around her however should also try to follow similar behavior if the singing side of things means anything to any of them anymore. After all, there is a tour coming up that does require some use of that instrument we hope at least.

Adele interview (71,745)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
Something Adele said in an interview when her last album came out is so true. She said that she refused to live the life of a popstar and remained out of the limelight and lived a normal life after 21's success because when you are disconnected from reality you just can't write songs that your listeners can relate to. We can't expect her to soar when the hippos and the monkeys and the rest of the travelling circus literally sitting on her head. Free Mariah.

Clearly what she meant was that the show does not reflect reality and is all scripted hence anybody calling it a reality show would be an idiot. That was how to decode her "it's not a reality show" comments.

I hope Gossip Cop debunks that title rumor real soon. Funny how the song leaked to the Australian press. I bet the Aussie folks are hating on MC something awful, so they might watch the finale.

MW finale plot twist? (71,742)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Is anyone else secretly waiting for some major final plot twist to this debacle? I have been saying for months, weeks, days now that there has got to be more than what they have so willingly projected for this reality show. People have thought oh, well these are skits, jokes etc. The show definitely rings false, but I'm not sure what the outcome will be. I have felt there is only one good outcome possible from this mess. Here is hoping. Here is also hoping that the single is tolerable if not great.

Re: MCA close down (71,735) (71,740)
by Marissa from USA

I'm sorry but I think it's rude to ask someone to close down a website that they have built and cultivated for almost 20 years just because you are fed up with negativity. There is always the option to leave if it's no longer enjoyable for you or anyone else, but to ask someone else to abandon a decades long passion project is entitled. If people don't like the vibe here then the onus is on them to leave and find somewhere else that suits their needs, not to ask the webmaster to give up one of his hobbies/passions so we can pretend that the world is a Mariah-centered utopia where people never have negative opinions. Instead being so scared of people's honest opinions that we shut the website down, how about Mariah steps her game up and puts out quality music and cuts the reality TV gimmicks so people have nothing to complain about? If your vision is for people to sing her praises all day then she's going to have to start doing something praiseworthy. More and more negativity crept in when the quality of Mariah's career decisions plummeted. There's a direct link. It's not a coincidence or people waking up and deciding to be mad for no reason. You definitely have the right to not like the people and opinions on here but to ask the webmaster to rip up a piece of his livelihood for you when you are perfectly free to leave is a bit much. That's like being at a house party that you think sucks and deciding to burn the house down and make everyone else suffer when you could have just walked out of the door and left.

Great when it was good (71,737)
by George Golden from UK
| |
|
|
What is she singing? She sings like she is afraid to sing out. What is going on? Where Is her musicality? She has destroyed her career by her own selfishness. I was just listening to Love Is blind by Alicia Keys and thought to myself, I wish that was Mariah's new single. With the mess that was NYE you would think she would come back with a killer track. Oh well it was great when it was good. All I seem to do now is hear great rnb tracks and wish it was Mariah's.

My thoughts on Mariah's World (71,736)
by Liz Archer from Sweden
| |
|
|
I am highly disappointed. Something that could've been an interesting look into her life as a singer and see some singing on stage etcetera etcetera turn into something that I did not want to see. I didn't want to see the drama of her staff. I certainly didn't want to see the creation of her new boyfriend after getting dumped by her then fiancé. You didn't really see much. I can now certainly understand why James decided to break it off with her. She seemed more interested in her dancer than the actual fiance. Only gives me a bad taste in my mouth. This is not how I want to see my idol, my favourite singer from the 90s.

MCA close down (71,735)
by Danny from Uk

I really think all considering our recent behaviour and opinions that have turned into near enough disdain for Mariah the lambs should pack up and call it a day. We (myself included) have offered nothing in the way of support or love these past few years and why doesn't MCA close down with us.

Yea I kinda agree, the video for Infinity fell short (its teasers were even better than the actual video) unlike in the case of TMB, where it enhanced the song and overall was entertaining. Musically and production-wise though, I prefer "Infinity" to "Touch my body" and vocally, she's also more on point on Infinity (that C#5 cuts like steel). Well we have less than 24 hours now to hear the finished song. Fingers crossed.

Her voice is shot. That's what happens when you drink wine like water and smoke weed. And lol at her playing the victim re-James. Honey, you're on Bryan's D while being (fake?) engaged. She exposed herself and she looks like a looney tune wearing the ring.

Song snippet thoughts (71,729)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|

From this snippet, it sounds a mess to me but ultimately I won't know for sure until the full song is released. Judging by the fact that she's making a "breakup song" about a relationship and breakup that she never showed any signs of giving two shits about, I already know in my spirit that this is a song that I'll hear once and probably never voluntarily listen to again. It's already not believable. I just wish she would go to Capri, leave the traveling circus behind (including Tanaka) and get inspired to make meaningful music again.

I think the problem is we tend to get this snippets, we think is going to be amazing (Lousinity reflected that, check the snippets from back then how everyone thought was going to be her next number one), it's again happening. Everyone screaming hit and number 1. Then we are dissapointed, but moreover with the videos. Lousinity had potential with a good video, the snippets of the video looked so fun, and then we get a half ass edited video that seemed to be done the same day, for a moment I thought it was going to be nice like TMB, it was young, and had a lot of attractive factors thanks to its comedy, I believe that the video helped the song, together they went hand in hand really good. This time I have no expectations and I'm only waiting to form a conclusive opinion. The short snippet gives me vibes of no and yes, I don't like too much the first part but I like the second one, which is the one she didn't write.

Are you implying that Jesus, hanging off the cross, would've told his mother to put him out of his misery, had she sung a "soothing" snippet of Mariah's new song to him? First Oprah claiming stigmata when she cut herself by accident with a paperclip, and now this. I can't.
