Re: Mariah's epic performance (61,703) (61,713) by Malcolm from Asia
Yes, that's also what I'm thinking about. That "trust me, you don't want to miss it" part of her post about Essence Fest is tricky.

Bey and MC (61,711) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am starting to feel like someone is playing with the lambs and Beyhive. I followed Diane's instagram account. And there is just one picture there. The previous pictures she uploaded (ex the "something special" one and the "#Twisted" one) has been removed. She re-uploaded the Mariah-Beyonce picture and captioned it "stay tuned". I don't get why she will delete the previous pictures. This is the only post on her account at the moment. I also am thinking if this was indeed happening and is supposed to be a secret, why would Diane (if that's really her) spill the beans? Plus Diane had like just 750 instagram followers (which is basically nothing for a celebrity) and now after making such claims she has 1200. This account might actually just be a fake and we must have been duped once again.

Re: Mariah's epic performance (61,703) (61,710) by Andrew from UK
One would think that if Beyoncé is walking out onto Mariah's performance, then Mariah would be the one starting the song. Hopefully, anyway. But then, how would it be styled? Mariah Carey feat. Beyoncé? That would be strange if it's on Beyoncé's Lemonade (Deluxe). Beyoncé feat. Mariah Carey? Not sure I fancy Mariah as a guest artist for Beyoncé. So, Mariah Carey & Beyoncé, or, Beyoncé & Mariah Carey? Well, that's the Whitney problem, all over again. I honestly don't know why these things matter to me so much. But they really, really do.

I'm really not a fan of Lemonade. I really try hard to like the album, but I just can't seem to get into it.

On the subject of image (61,708) by Andrew from UK
Hey, Anthony, I liked your post, it's well put. To be honest, Mariah can behave how she wants to behave, we all can. It's her image to play with. My breast boob comment was only meant to highlight the fact that Mariah can't possibly crave the "respect" people say she does (or used to) as people who behave like that don't get much respect. To do so would make little sense. Sometimes I think that Mariah doesn't understand that what she considers sexually appealing about her behaviour, or even funny (the affected British accent, rehearsed lines about being eternally 12), is actually often the source of mockery for Joe Public and the reason why he doesn't like her. So when some fans decry the fact that Mariah is taken far less seriously than she used to be, it's obvious that the general public don't particularly identify with her, or even like her, anymore. Image is everything. I think someone posted here recently about trying to make someone listen to Petals, and being told by said someone that they wouldn't take the music seriously because of the album's artwork. Essentially, if you want the public to take your music seriously, they have to take you and your image seriously, or they won't even bother with you. And if you don't take your image seriously, yourself, just go with it, put on "nostalgia" shows so everyone can relive the good ol' days for a night, but don't complain that nobody is buying your new material.

I understand what you mean but who are you or who am I to define what makes someone feel good about themselves? If they think they look hot and fire then cool. You know what I mean?

Re: Beyonce (61,701) (61,706) by darrian liu from taiwan
I thought Beyonce's first 3 albums were kinda weak (save for singles like Crazy In Love) compared even to "4" (which is technically her flop album). Her self-titled album was her second strongest album and her latest album, Lemonade is full of wonders (her best to date). I mean the album's amazing. And I thought her image up to the release of "Beyoncé" was too airbrushed, too perfect. I love her even more now that she's more fearless to express what she wants to say and how she wants her music to sound like (first 3 albums are kinda formulaic, "4" was when she started to screw radio-friendly formulas) and her new songs are so raw and sublime and fresh imo. I truly feel like she's gonna be a legend. Now, let's go back to Mariah.

My fingers has been crossed so much I think it's starting to break. But I would want a more "out-there" single, with Mimi and Yonce blending weird genre concoctions and awesome lyrics.

Mariah's epic performance (61,703) by Bill from the UK
I wonder if it will be the debut of the rumoured Beyonce duet. That would go down a storm if Beyonce walks out onto the stage to join Mariah.

On the subject of being sexy (61,702) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
Just because you walk around practically nude except for a few strategically placed bits of material, this means you're confident and comfortable in your own skin? Well, I'd like to respectfully disagree. In a world where image is everything and being shocking and outrageous gets you more attention than actual talent, I think it takes an incredibly confident person to not resort to outlandish behaviours or body baring outfits to showcase yourself. It seems the more normal you are, the more prone you are to be called boring, and in age where everybody is desperate to be individual yet everybody does the same thing and uses the same platforms to showcase their originality, boring is the worst thing you can be. I'm saying this because do I feel Mariah is confident when she struts around half naked? No I don't believe that for a second. I don't think it empowers her or makes her seem more in control. Quite the opposite, in fact. Now this is my opinion, so please don't start with the "you don't know her personally so how do you know?" malarkey. I don't, I'm just saying that's what I feel and how I see it. The Honey video? Now that felt sexy and confident. Even the costumes on her SSF tour seem confident to me, quite show girl. But at other times, it almost screams desperation, like, "Look at me. I don't care what you think. Look how hot I am." I genuinely think Mariah is one of the most beautiful women of all time, I think she is desperately beautiful. But for once (and I know it ain't gonna happen, and I should get over it, yeah yeah yeah) I wish that more of these female stars would appreciate that they are beautiful and do have amazing bodies and that actually, people would be just as happy to listen (and perhaps more able to concentrate) if they allowed sexiness and confidence to shine from within.

Beyonce (61,701) by Giovanni from USA
Is desperately trying to stay relevant. I've been saying this for awhile now. She hasn't done anything great since "Dangerously in love". I also like "B'Day" but it certainly didn't top her first album. She was great with Destiny's Child but after she seemed to be on this quest to be deemed as a legend or one of the greats. But that won't happen. I feel her and her team are running out of ideas to keep her current. She won't last much longer. I mean when will she ever sell 7 million copies of an album? And no one can deny how dark she has become. Looking hella scary and creepy in her videos. I just miss the Beyonce from Destiny's Child. The woman who just sang, was humble and didn't try to be someone she's not. Sasha Fierce took over Beyonce Knowles.

I hope not. I'm kinda over Vegas and wished Mariah would only focus on her next album. Are you planning on going to see her again?

Credibility / sexism (61,699) by b3nP123 from United States
Arguing that because a female performs showing off her body makes her a less credible artist is ridiculous. Yes it's sexist. Like are you all 10? Women have breasts. It's life and if she likes hers more power to her. The fact that liking and showing off your body in performances and videos equates to deserving disrespect is alarming. Men have performed provocatively and not been fully clothed all the time. What's the difference? She's clearly not into sitting on a stool and singing standards while covered from neck to toes so let it be. It does no harm except for irking the sexist people who can't wrap their minds around respecting women regardless of how they dress or how much skin they show.

Sexuality (61,698) by b3nP123 from United States
Is it really a problem though if she chooses to dress less conservatively and play up the sex appeal on stage? I mean in one breath we're talking about empowering women and in the next putting her down for being comfortable in her own skin. It's not 1802 anymore, women are allowed to have a say in what they wear and how they act. I'll never have a problem with women, Mariah or others being comfortable in their own skin. Or is the issue she's not as little as before so it's not as appealing to you? Valid question.

Lamb_O_Chop / Vegas revamp / JLo show (61,697) by RJJ12 from USA
Hi Lamb_O_Chop. I understand and respect your prospective, but I would like for you to take a moment and look at it through my vantage point you might see what I mean more clearly. I understand your view of JLo's lack of talent and how it could be insulting to suggest Mariah's team should watch the "less talented" competition, but both casino's are within walking distance. To be fair, JLo does have some talent, it's just not musical. She can dance, look effortlessly beautiful/sexy, and is a good enough performer to put on a great show. I mean the dancers even had props and special effects that went along with the music. You can't say the nice routine on the stairs from 5:40-7:05 isn't something Mariah could do on stage. Also, I am only referring to her Vegas show, not her tours. I prefer her tours stay more bare bones as this is more cost effective, and business savvy to have low production budget when you can rely on your talent. It's expensive to move a big budget tour from city to city internationally. No wonder Madonna's tickets are so pricey. Her Vegas show however, should be a big spectacle. Vegas is as over the top as Mariah is but her show doesn't quite represent this. It's definitely very classy, but restrained. If they dropped the #1s theme they can add some rarer up tempos, Migrate (non-lambs love that one), #Beautiful, Faded, YDKWTD, to show she still makes hot current music. (I would still want her to do the first 4 #1s as they are a rarity and TGIFU as it's the highlight of the show.) Mariah is reduced to gowns and one jet ski outfit. What about a showgirl's outfit like in Breakdown or ISIL. What about having Mariah sing Fantasy on a fake rollercoaster that moves around the stage. Or have her come down a rope from a set piece helicopter for Honey. What about singing a ballad on a flying Pegasus for laughs.

Re: (61,672) (61,696) by RJJ12 from USA
Hi MimiLamb. Lambs wouldn't be so judgemental or critical but these videos are out for world consumption. If say, we were present at these events, I'd be like, look at Mimi, she is turn't up. And well deserved after one of the best tours of her career. But posting this for the world to see. Is everyone not seeing what I'm seeing? Mariah is clearly feeling "nice". If we remember the last time Mariah was filmed feeling "nice" at an event the media had a field day (was it the Palms Film Festival with Lee). Number two, if Nick wanted to be a jerk and go for full custody using these videos claiming she is an irresponsible parent. Number three, she is engaged to be married and the two male dancers at times are standing way to close to her. If they are gay then that's one thing but if they aren't, I don't know any guy who would appreciate his fiance that close to two attractive male dancers. This is the image that the world has of her, a dizzy, drunk, fast acting diva. It keeps getting in the way of people knowing the real her, the artist, the musician, the lyricist, the genius we all know and love. It's a new era and I believe Mariah is looking to make a comeback and things like this don't help. Mariah would not have this clip aired on her docuseries, never mind, "edit that out", she'd have them go the the video file and "press delete".

Update on the new project (61,695) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So previously we learned that the supposed collaboration was named "Closer to Heaven" but now Diane Martel has apparently posted a new instagram with a picture that says "#Twisted X.X. *lemon emoji*" (so definitely a Beyonce project?) and it is captioned "Becky and I don't know her".

Re: Mimi and Yonce? (61,688) (61,692) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am always in need of new Mariah music but if Mariah is releasing a new album, I hope by surprise it means that instead of posting pictures everyday about being in the studio (like she did during MIAM) with no indefinite release date, she has secretly finished the album and announces it a week or 2 before its release. Because a completely surprise album (like Beyonce's album "Beyonce") from Mariah may not work because of some reasons. Secondly it will become a joke if it doesn't match up to Beyonce's record because people will talk about how she tried and failed and that's a risk Mariah doesn't need right now. So she should announce it before hand like Beyonce did this time with "Lemonade" (because probably even she thought she can't pull a second completely surprise album just by dropping it on iTunes without any announcement). Plus I hope a promo plan is in place in advance. My heart can't take another messy, half ass-ed roll out. This is giving me anxiety dahlin', it's giving me anxiety.

Re: Mimi and Yonce? (61,688) (61,690) by Xavier Peoples from United States
Not to sound negative, but I hope that Mariah and her team have enough sense to know that the surprise album thing isn't going to work for Mariah. There's not exactly a lot of people sitting around waiting for a Mariah album to drop, and if she does a surprise release she will no doubt be compared to Bey. Hopefully, she'll find another creative way to release her new album. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Vegas (61,664) (61,689) by B from USA
I'm not sure. I think it was temporary at first but then the residency became a success for all involved and it's been extended. I don't think she'll stay as long as Celine has. She might do that later when James builds her her own casino.
