Oh this should be epic and it is about time they start featuring the real divas and legends. The past few year they have been faking it on these shows. Sing Mariah, sang Patti.

The black shorts and NY cap though. Good song though and glad she achieved a number one on the r&b charts. Fastest in 20 years I have read.

You are recounting rumors and myth about her childhood that you read on the internet or from gossip from other randoms. She is more the expert on her own childhood even if she did hear some of it from her mother or siblings and I am sure she experienced a lot of it herself.

Mariah when she brings her A game easily hangs with the divas and shines. Let's hope she remembers that moments like these are an opportunity to revive the legacy and reinvent herself. Send Stella back to Russia, lock the liquor cabinet, and seriously prepare for VH1.

Mariah Carey "C&D" (68,121)
by T from USA

I would love Mariah to eventually do a duets album, but also a covers album (because she has so many amazing covers). What better way to double sales then to do both in one amazing package, call it "Mariah C/D". 1. I Want To Know What Love Is (feat. Justin Bieber) 2. You And I (feat. Stevie Wonder) 3. With You I'm Born Again (feat. John Legend) 4. One More Try (feat. George Michael) 5. I Still Believe (feat. Beyonce) 6. Open Arms (feat. Celine Dion) 7. Bringing On The Heartbreak (feat. Mary J Blige) 9. Against All Odds (feat. Phil Collins) 10. Without You (feat. Kelly Clarkson) 11. Didn't Mean To Turn You On (feat. Bruno Mars) 12. I'll Be There (feat. Trey Lorenz) 13. The Beautiful Ones (feat. Dru Hill) 14. Endless Love (feat. Luther Vandros) 15. When You Believe (feat. Whitney Houston) 16. Heavenly No Ways Tired (feat. Aretha Franklin) I included "When You Believe" even though it's not a cover song but the duet is just too big not to have on there.

100% agree. She's not perfect like the rest of the parents in the world but you can't categorize her as a bad mother. Alison chooses that path and I do believe they all did try to guide her but probably it gets tiring as the years go by because in the end, no one can really help her but herself. Same goes with Mariah, but she is the closest with Patricia among the siblings, they had that special mother-daughter bond and you can't deny that in all of the clips and photos that they were together so she can really help her. Can't help but miss that 2010-2013 era where all of the happenings in "Mariah's world" were okay, stable, and genuine.

Make it happen. Because this song is so extremely pow for me, if you really want something you can make it happen, one of the biggest anthems in my opinion better than Hero. Nota beta: it would have been the perfect area regarding medias, rumors and gossiper to play "The art of letting go".

So can we now expect a full live performance by Mariah because Patti will be there? If I'm not mistaken, whenever Mariah is with these legends, she's not lip syncing and really brings out her A game. It's a shame if Ms. Patti will sing her heart out on December 5 and Mariah will just lip sync her high notes, like girl that woman is 72 and yet there you are a 46 year old who's frequently using pre-recorded vocals.

That's a very sweet, heart felt post however I read that all that stuff about racist events Mariah couldn't possibly have any recollection of as she was an infant or not born yet and was simply recounting stories she'd heard. She used that for PR but in fact had pretended to be white throughout her childhood.

Thanks for posting the video. I had not watched yet. I agree the video is very simple yet tasteful. I'm not going to say anything about what I wish Mariah would do or change because at the end if the day she's going to do what she wants. Clearly she's ok with how she presents herself to the world. All I can do is hope she leaves this outfit at home for her Christmas take over.

Simple yet classy. I'm almost overwhelmed by all the gold tones everywhere. Mariah, this is what maturity and acting your age looks like, in case you forgot. Enough of the fake-sexy shtick. It worked for you before. It still works for other lesser singers close to your current age. But somehow it's just awkward coming from you now. Must be too forced.

Mariah better have her stuff together for this. So far they are picking great legends. I hope the newer divas that are chosen are not lame. Truthfully the children now and days don't have a lot of great divas like we grew up with. There are a few good ones, but there aren't that many great ones.

I thought the same thing about JP's children never being seen with them at first but then I started to think that maybe the ex wife didn't want her children to be photographed or be put in all that surrounding Mariah. Maybe JP didn't want them to be involved either. He has no control over what Mariah does with her kids, but if he and/or the ex decided they didn't want their kids involved then I respect that decision. I could definitely see that JP had no interaction with Roc and Roe in the pictures though. It looked like he had no interest in getting to know them or interacting with them. I've said that before and certain folks here got mad at me and tried to make excuses for it.

Mariah really needs to learn that she will always be taken advantage of as long as the only friends she surrounds herself with people that are on her payroll. Especially people who have no morals and will say anything Mariah wants to hear just to experience her lifestyle.

Mariah's family (68,108)
by JAXGH from United States
| |
|
|
I never thought the day would come where Mimi's fans would reference Mimi's mom in that manner. Patricia Carey worked multiple jobs and tried her best to keep her family afloat. She's literally the one who instilled that faith in Mariah. Always tells her to say "when I make it". Allison may have gone astray but that's none of Pat's control. Kids could be rebels and sometimes you can't stop them when they want to get away from you. It doesn't mean she didn't try her best to love her kids. Allison is the rebel out of the 3. Morgan was independent. Mariah was the intelligent one. You all have to realize that no family is perfect and their family was already facing harsh racism attacks from all corners of New York before Mariah even came to the world. Imagine eating dinner and someone just shoots a bullet to your window. Imagine going outside seeing your dogs and cats dead, killed by the people next door. Imagine kids purposely scaring you knocking on your windows (Mariah referenced girls would do this to her when she was little). Imagine getting spit on the face. Imagine every neighborhood you moved to, rejecting you. Imagine not being able to take any sides (not black or white). Imagine your own freaking family (Pat's side) disowning you. It would naturally put a strain in any kid's development. I can only imagine how much Pat tried her best to love and protect them, though no matter how much Pat loves her kid, they were still bound to struggle. But with struggles, comes blessings. They were given Mariah. All those years of tears, heartbreaks, having no permanent home, tensions, financial problems, turmoil, attacks and absurd cruelty. The Lord saw all of that. They were blessed more than they could ever imagine with Mariah. A girl with an extra ordinary voice who was meant to unite the music industry has had to have come from a dysfunctional, oppressed, multiracial family rooted in hardship. Mariah fulfilled that purpose and Patricia definitely helped her get across the raging river. So at least give her that credit. I honestly just pray that one day, they leave behind whatever happened, be a family for once and let forgiveness take over. I don't know how deep the wounds are but I know the Lord definitely has a purpose as to why Mariah was put in this family. I pray she realizes it, let love take over and just live with no enmity in her heart.

Her marketing (68,105)
by IfWeeeeee from Over There

Whatever legacy she had acquired from the years of working her ass off in the 90s, are now gone. The public view her more now as a spoiled, no class, misbehaving diva rather an an artist/singer. And the clothes she's been wearing lately, I don't care if they're expensive, but they look tacky. Tacky. It's sad, really. How the mighty has fallen.

You hit the nail on the head Edward. I remember during the Mottola days, when she must have been so unhappy and probably as crazy as this sounded, spent a lot of time in the bathroom literally taking baths or whatever. I remember her saying she wrote Close My Eyes in the tub and looking out the window seeing the orange clouds. She simply doesn't have enough time to focus and reconnect with herself. Nevermind us, the fans. Mariah needs to reconnect with Mariah. The true, real Mariah. Only then will the deeper more meaningful lyrics come, and I'm sure if she does this that the songs will just flow. She still has it. All those songs we all connected to came from a deep place. I just wish she would slow down a bit and put the charades away. Hell, I even thought we would get more of those type of songs when Roc and Roe were born but all we got was Supernatural, while it's a good song and captures the kids forever on a track, it really isn't taking me to a place where her head was while reflecting back on them. Ok I'm getting way to deep now but the fans that appreciate those type of Butterfly, Close My Eyes, Looking In, Petals and FLAB, type songs know what I am getting at. Back to what Edward mentioned though, maybe after the Christmas rush, in January when she usually goes to the islands, she could go on vacation, and a vacation away from Stella and her empowering people and just figure things out and clear her head. Maybe the music would come back if she did that. Maybe we would start to recognize the woman we all connected with in one way or another again.

With all this tabloid fodder she seems to want to indulge in for this reality - I mean, docuseries, she better bring the vocals for these next performances so I have something substantial to focus on and enjoy. I really enjoyed this comparison of 1996 and 2016 Fantasy vocals.

Now you're making a really convincing point. He could be Morgan or at the very least be a member of the Carey clan to know such private information, not to mention the tone the posts are stated in - that blend of genuine concern, affection, anger and the pain that can only come from an estranged relative, close friend, or family member. Whether he is or isn't doesn't really matter - he is still one of those few posters who can break the monotony that this board can slip into at times. Acquired taste.
