Why you trying so damn hard? (66,935)
by Mirage_Nunez from America

Well I personally didn't have to listen to Infamous a million times to enjoy it. And even if it did take more than one listen I would disagree that it means the song is bad. I totally disagree with that sentiment in general because I can name several non Mariah songs (and a couple Mariah songs) that I didn't initially like but ended up falling deeply in love with them; becoming classics in my eyes now. The problem here is not the fact that some of you don't like the song and have express valid reasons why. The thing that's bothersome here is how some "fans", (lambs or whatever you consider yourselves) are going out of their way to over exaggeratedly bash the song as if they're indirectly trying to convince others to hate it with them. I mean seriously at worst the song is just okay, it does not deserve an outcry or to be overly bashed at all. Why start a hate campaign? Just say it wasn't your cup of tea and move along. Let other people enjoy the song in peace and stop trying so damn hard to convince people that it's the most terrible thing she ever recorded. That's just plain childish. Some of you act eternally 12 yourselves. As a fan you should be happy somebody else likes the song. Example: I never got into "Stay The Night" from TEOM, but everyone I know lives for that song which makes me happy as a fan.

Lol Licia. The song may not be on my fave list exactly but I bought it. It's a pattern here that every little thing gets blown up so huge. It's totally unnecessary.

I didn't throw any shade my original post was clear. I have expressed my opinion about Mariah's World from day one and all along as she has given updates. You think it is a good idea and I don't. No problem, so you carry on as well.

I said early on that I liked it based on the preview snippet. I have listened to the whole song and I like it. Nothing I want to go back to often, but it is ok. I am waiting to really experience it within the context of the show though. I have been sick of Mariah and duets for years now, so I wasn't waiting for anything earth shattering from M. singing with a little boy goat lol. But "Imma" suspend my disbelief for a while and listen to it within the context of the show. Listen, if her acting is bad and the song is bad, I want to be prepared for the onslaught, lol. But, I am hoping for a really cool moment. I am cheering Mimi on and hoping for the best.

Yassss, with a bow and bells on too. Lol. But you know we all debate about songs and like, some love and some hate. I'm cool with liking a song sometimes. I am just saying let's at least see how it fits with the show and just give the whole moment a shot. Those who like it should buy it and support, those who want to support just because will hopefully do that too. Those who hate it, will do what they will do. It just gets kooky up in here beyond reason, when the people who hate want to beat everybody else on the head with it and when the people who love want to beat the haters across their foreheads. Such violence, lol. We all are entitled to our opinions without credibility being in question or loyalties slammed. I know we all do it from time to time, but IJS.

Very easy, from all of the leaks and antics. Plus it is a reality show, which most of them are intentional messes. I could easily ask how can you not, but I don't really care what you think about it? My point was she could have become a rich hermit without doing a reality show first, if that was her intention, like the other person implied.

Is a total loser who can't sing. I don't why these basic females think they can come for Mariah when they're not on her level as a singer or success wise. You just don't shade a legend. Miley is just mad that her fame is over. I think being on "The voice" will give her some relevance but it's not like she's going to have a hit record or win a Grammy. Mariah is a diva so what, so is Aretha, Diana and Patti. She's paid her dues and proven herself as music royalty. Last time I checked Miley doesn't have a "Make it happen", "Anytime you need a friend", "One sweet day" or "Fly like a bird" in her catalog. Her music is garbage. I think I respect Ariana Grande a lot more now because she has never shaded Mariah. At least for now.

I must say I'm not impressed. I know it was a song for "Empire" but Mariah can do much better. "Infamous" is boring and forgettable. It makes "Triumphant" sound like a masterpiece. Matter of fact, let me go and listen to it right now.

I still stand by what I said about it being fine for the TV story line. But I also stand by what I said about this song not being Mariah at her full potential. And like I said before I'm not "devastated" by it not being the type I expect (although I didn't expect much from this as I just took it as a bonus song) neither will I have have mini meltdowns over it. I was severely disappointed with "Infinity" because they made it sound like the next big thing then it fell flat. But with this song, I have moved on. However that being said, I do feel like she could have used a better song for this opportunity. But hey what do I know, I'll gladly be slapped with a "I told you so" if this becomes a hit. After all when it comes to Mariah, I'll always root for her to win. As for Jussie having fans, in the words of Randy Jackson, "that will be a no from me". Empire is a very successful show but very few of the singles from the show actually charted. Yes the soundtrack was successful but the singles didn't really make a huge impact. If this song makes a huge impact, it will only be because of Mariah's name and the publicity they are using with Mariah in the snippets. It is however making some impact in Australia where it has become the highest selling single from Empire. As for having "Infamous" quality songs as album cuts, now that's a completely different thing right? This is why album cuts shouldn't be released as singles. Lastly, I also think maybe she should have released the song right after the episode aired for maximum impact. The publicity from the show combined with the anticipation of a new Mariah song would push fans and casual listeners to buy it. Releasing it 1 week in advance kinda kills the momentum. What's your take on the song though Ribbon? I'm sorry if you've already given your review and I missed it, I've been a little distracted. Did you like the song?

I will not be surprise if one article will be about "Mariah's fan lambasted her new song for Empire". Come on, don't act like it's the worst song Mariah ever released. I get that some of you really don't like the song but you don't have to say it like you're a hater/basher that are just plainly mean, have at least some respect while criticizing it. Anyone in the media can see this board and can write anything they like. It's horrible that these kind of words are coming from her fans. Funny how this board has a picture of Mariah that says "be nice or leave" when it's more like "be harsh and insulting so you can stay".

TV show songs (66,921)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
For brand new songs, do TV show executives/whoever have a list of requirements for what they want a song to sound like? Because the song has to fit with the show, and not completely the opposite of what they need it to be. So could it be possible that Mariah, JD and whoever, got a list of requirements for the song, what it had to say lyrically and the vocal performance needed, the context of which it had to fit, and crafted a song around that? Instead of going all out with full Mariah Carey, with whatever she wanted to write and sing about?

Who performed the surprise lobotomies? (66,920)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|

You all know Mariah's touring throughout October and wrapping it up in Hawaii in November. You know her December Christmas deal with concerts and usual promo. Why do you think this is a new Mariah Carey single when that was not promoted by her or her team and you're well aware she has no time this year to do that? Empire isn't a podium to release new material for artists, it's for artists to assume a role and release music for Empire. At it's best selling they get over 100,000 downloads. Empire is R&B and hip-hop music that goes with their storyline and that's what Mariah delivered. New music for Empire doesn't equal Mariah Carey's next single. Now, people have gone off the deep end pumping up something that never existed and then blaming Mariah for not delivering something that was never promised.

RibbonB, (66,915) (66,918)
by Edward from USA

RibbonB, and because I love your posts and your humor, I'll say: RibbonB with a Bow on it, lol. Mariah could give an Oscar worthy performance on Empire, but that won't turn "Infamous" into a great record. A great record for me is not necessarily a song that would be a hit on the radio, a great record is just great, like many of Mariah's album cuts. Petals, Vanishing, Outside, Close My Eyes, and When I Saw You, just to name a few, would've been flop singles, but that wouldn't have taken away the greatness of those songs. In fact most of Mariah's #1's won't hold a candle to the aforementioned tracks. A hit doesn't necessarily mean a record is great, a good example would be Rihanna's "Work". It is evident that "The Emperor has no clothes", even though we can keep pretending his outfit is yasss queen to die for.

The show hasn't even aired yet though. Have a little faith already. Lol. What will people say if the song is actually a little hit. Jussie has some fans, the show still has fans and Mariah does have fans who will support and buy the single. Then she has her mini tour to finish and with Hawaii selling out, that is the perfect opportunity for her and Jussie to perform and promote it together. Don't act like she hasn't put out Infamous quality songs before, it is like a lot of her album cuts and better than a lot of songs getting played on radio today. She did a nice thing releasing it before the show aired, maybe that was actually a mistake.

I can't believe people are still throwing tantrums because some don't like the song. Instead of worrying about who does and doesn't like the song, how about y'all put that energy into supporting her? How will you react when all that does not happen? Lol. She may not re marry this dude, because she still isn't divorced and she will never give up music because she loves it so much. I highly doubt she will ever give up the spotlight because she lives for it and she could have done all that without this fiasco of a Mariah's World mess coming up. Also if Nick can hold up a divorce, allegedly, he will certainly prevent his kids from moving across the pond.

It's 26 years ago Mariah made her debut for the world. And side bar Miley is as fake as they come because at that same event Miley took a picture with Mariah and bragged about it like a fan girl on social media. So her latest stunt was nothing more than press for herself being a new coach on The Voice. Also why not target Mariah because whether good or bad her name can still garner press after all these years later? Miley should be thankful her name is even mentioned with the likes of Mariah Carey.

Ugh Edward do you read minds or what? I too think this is yet another missed opportunity. Like you, I am not "devastated" by the song because I didn't expect much. It was like a bonus this year. But for Mariah it's quite the missed opportunity because this song would have gotten noticed by at least the millions of viewers that tune in to watch "Empire" in the States and worldwide. Great publicity for her without even having to make much effort. For that reason only she should have put in more effort. This is the same with what happened last year when she could have used Bieber's fame to her advantage. Just the fact that Justin crashed into Mariah's studio got so much coverage, if the song would have been released it would have gotten a lot more attention because since last year, everything Bieber touches was selling like hot cakes. And when I said "release the song" I didn't mean the half cooked nonsense mess we got to hear but fine tune it to make it for of a Mariah and Bieber song. Plus where is the 19th #1 Bulochnikov was going on about? I'm so bored of the wasted opportunities. It's like she doesn't even care. Sorry about the messy post.
