The lesser MC (66,809)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
Miley Cyrus [censored] marketing tool based solely upon the premise of "Yeah, we do what we want, cos we, like, do what we want 'n' stuff." Which is fantastic if what you want is to act like a [censored]. Now I really don't go in for teenage-fangirling every time someone criticises Mariah, but Miley Cyrus is beyond irritating. She made a lot of money because of a television show made for young teenage girls. It will be interesting to see if she can carry on making money with the flatulence once the generation to which she appeals finally grows up (which has probably got to be some time around, um, now).

Just heard the new song. It's just bad and dated. Finger snapping, strained vocals. Really Mariah?

Terrible. Dated. Auto-tuned. Just awful. Praying this isn't an indication of what the album is going to sound like.

Still lamenting "Infamous" (66,805)
by ZachSingsMariah from USA
| |
|

Speaking of MIAM and single choices, I still believe "You Don't Know What To Do" and "Dedicated" were two of the biggest missed single opportunities of MC's career. Both songs are absolutely magical, and would have been very marketable and radio-friendly. Both had true hit potential, yet it was wasted. I honestly cringe at many of the career choices Mariah has made the last several years, especially since Stella came into the picture. I think "Infamous" is further evidence that Mariah is surrounded, and maybe even deluded, by "yes" people who do not know how to steer her in a direction that adequately uses her talents. Still, I am excited to see how she does as Kitty on Empire next week.

Pinoy lambs are very active. They schedule get-togethers (translation: Mariah karaoke nights) quite regularly and I would honestly join them if I didn't live so far away. This singer I believe calls herself Petals, and evidently, she's really good at what she does. And this is pretty much just a warm-up for her. Makes me so proud to be a lamb and a Filipino one at that.

Miley's comments (66,803)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
Truth: her and Demi's comments represent how this generation perceives Mariah Carey to a certain extent. Meanwhile, I'm just gonna sit here and not even bother to bring out the popcorn because this issue is bound to end up like all the other disses that have come before - they won't really matter anyway. I swear, a year from now, I know for sure I won't be even saying, "Hey remember that time when Miley dissed Mariah?" Imma be more like, "Oh yeah, that actually happened. It gave us some laughs." And now here I am barely recalling what Demi even said back then, which was just like two months ago. Exactly.

Wow. Based on the preview of next week's Empire, "Infamous" will be fire. Mariah's voice is full and powerful and the beat is jamming. It seems like a slow burner. I'm impressed from the 5 second snippett. Whoo hoo. Go Mimi.

Well I guess that would explain why her security team was so comfortable speaking to him that way. Maybe the whole situation got out of hand. I felt really bad for him because of the money he spent but it sounds like he is in close connection to Mariah anyway. Nice guy to give you a great ticket and merch for free.

So the song is ok. At least her voice doesn't sound autotune and she stuck to her mid range. Way better than Infinity. Glad it's not a lead single and it will tie me over for now until her new stuff comes out. Listen here.

After the debacle that was Infinity (sorry, but it really was that bad) we get Infamous. This song restored my faith that Mariah can still sing good music. The only part that bugged me was Jussie's overuse of the autotune. Anyways, enjoy.

Ok here are my thoughts on the song. I like it. It's not the best song ever, but it's an improvement over Crapfinity. I'm a realist so I knew not to expect 96 vocals with 1990-2003 lyrics. For the purpose it was recorded for it's a decent song.

Tough love for MC (66,793)
by ZachSingsMariah from USA
| |
|
|
So the much-anticipated song "Infamous" from "Empire" has now been released. And I am going to be honest I think this is yet another low point for Mariah. This song reminds me of "Triumphant" in that she continues to be the feature artist on her own songs. When I saw her in Vegas earlier this month, she alluded to her plans for a big comeback. Well, I am sorry to say this is not it. The hook is non-existent, her vocals are too processed, and that auto-tune rap verse is straight out of 2006. Quite frankly, it is boring. I love Mariah with all my heart, but she has not put out a good single since #Beautiful. (Notice I said single; I loved the MIAM album as a whole.) #B was a brilliant duet. "Infamous", on the other hand, is already among the least memorable records I have ever heard from her. Lambs, let's not blindly pretend that this is up-to-par with what we should expect from an artist as brilliant as Mariah.

Ya but her team can only do that if they stop vacationing and actually work. Bey's team is not out and about following her all over the world on vacations with their entire family and extended family. Stella on the other hand is too busy posing on other people's private jets, pretending it's hers to really sit and chalk out a game plan to get Mariah's image in check.

Re: Now Miley is attacking Mariah (66,768) (66,789)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Miley has already been inducted into the "I don't know her" hall of shame. Once people go there, they officially lose out any potential of topping charts. Demi's "musical efforts" went completely unnoticed even after it was heavily promoted. Ariana still didn't get a #1 hit even after she basically was all over the place and her recent album didn't get much attention. JLo is not even considered to be a "singer". So ya Miley should have stuck to people of her own level but she "reached for the stars" (sung a la "Triumphant").

Miley vs Mariah (66,788)
by Edward from USA

Stop shading and going against Miley Cyrus. These lambs are so touchy. Mariah is definitely about what she wears. On the contrary, if you look at Miley riding on her wrecking ball, it's clear she's not about what she wears, she's deeper than that. She's so deep they want people to see her, naked. And besides, 20 years from now, a whole new generation will be "twerking" thanks tor her and her horns. As for Mariah, she'll be remembered for a no so popular Christmas tune, 18 mere #1's songs, the voice of a generation and just 200,000,000 sold. If Mariah twerked, she would definitely be more inspired. I'm sorry, but Miley win this one.

Vision Of Love plus Infinity live BBMAs 2015 (66,786)
by Malcolm from Asia

Looking back to her performance that night, I re-watched it today, I cringe and felt sad for her on how uncomfortable, unease, and pressured she is on that stage. That feeling when I wish I could stop her from doing that performance because she is not that 100% confident. I'm glad Vegas boost up her confidence again and improved her stage presence. Excited to see her do live TV performances again.

Re: MC on MC (66,763) (66,785)

My biggest issue with Miley's comments is not what she said, but the hypocrisy of it all. "It's about what she's wearing, and it's about her. What I make isn't about me. It's about sharing my story; it's about someone being connected to what I'm saying." How on earth is twerking, acting like a wannabe thug and sticking your tongue out constantly, "sharing your story" or inspiring people to connect with your work? She's one to talk. In terms of the comments itself, I don't blame her for feeling that way. Mariah leads with the narcissistic diva personality gimmick and not the substance that she actually has, so what else are people going to think? This is the type of stuff that happens when you're 46 but want to conduct yourself like you're 21. People come at you crazy and think they can talk about you any type of way without respect. I don't feel bad. Even if Miley felt this same way about Patti Labelle or Aretha Franklin for example, she probably would have never said that because she most likely respects them as legends. Mariah doesn't want anyone to see her as a legend but as an "eternally 12" year old, so she can't get shocked or mad when someone's talking about her like they're in 7th grade gym class instead of like a grown ass woman. At the end of the day, Miley's comments mean nothing, so who cares? Next.

Learning from mistakes (66,784)
by Letters From Adi from India
| |
|
|
It's pointless to cry over spilt milk. This sequence of these unfortunate events may have a silver lining. Mariah's team needs to learn from their mistakes. Miley is just at it again. She thrashed Gaga in 2013, Nicki in 2015, when she had to release new music. This time she's picking Mariah. I find pitting popstars against another degrading. The newer generation has a vision of Mimi being a diva who tries too hard and fails over and over. But contrary to that, I believe that this can be benificial to her. Media tried to thrash Bey back in 2011, but her team was clever enough to stop the rumors and negative press instantly. Mariah needs a team like that in my opinion. She will always have the respect from the previous generations who have witnessed the peaks of her creativity and prowess. If Mariah is smart enough, she can actually turn the tables in her favor. An image rehaul will get her massive support she lost through the years. I have faith in you, Mimi. (Sorry for the long post lol.)
