Faded is her masterpiece on that cd along with Make It Look Good.

I'm just happy to know that some people do enjoy MCIIY. I thought I was the only one. Lol I really enjoyed the duet with her mom, When Christmas Comes, and her take of Here Comes Santa Clause. Of course it won't go down as a classic album like the first one, but it's really enjoyable. Contractual obligation? Yes. Mistake? Nope. The two songs she probably could have left off are Auld Lang Syne and AIWFCIY super festive remix. Neither of those were needed.

Re: VH1 (68,391) (68,392) by Malcolm from Asia
Of course it will not be another Rockefeller fiasco because it'll be taped, there will be magic. The only thing that will might happen is the lip syncing to convince people that she still have her 90's tone voice which is not really effective anymore because we already know and we can easily distinguish the lipped parts. She can no longer fool anyone, we all know her act already. Until she don't accept the fact that her voice changed and the need to really take care of her voice, nothing good will happen. So please Mariah, sing your heart out in that stage, you will be surrounded by some of the authentic legends, don't humiliate yourself, prove to everyone that you are still worthy to be called as the "songbird supreme".

Of course she will. I wish she'd not drink a month before the VH1 show and prepare for it. At least make herself look good again by singing great to the eyes of fans and non-fans alike.

Re: Merry Christmas 2 You (68,370) (68,390) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Mariah's first Christmas album is one of her top 3 albums where she was most vocally on point and sure it is beloved, but if we're being really honest, only AIWFCIY and Miss You Most are the songs in it that are really worth repeated listens. Her follow-up manages to balance modern and traditional Christmas sounds way better. The song selection is also more varied, making it a more interesting, thus enjoyable listen. And I while I was most worried about the new original songs, my fears were put to rest when I heard Christmas Time Is In The Air Again and When Christmas Comes. Those are timeless masterpieces that Taylor Swift can only dream of writing.

I agree with the both of you. We all know she can give great vocals. I'm hoping she has her stuff together and is taking this seriously. We don't need or want another Rockefeller tree lighting fiasco.

Re: VH1 (68,384) (68,388) by Stacey from USA
Luke, I've thinking the same thing. I've been watching her guest spot on Michael Buble's Christmas special a lot lately. Her short red dress, cool looking white boots, and hair were great. But even more importantly her voice sounded great. Her acapella with Jimmy Fallon was awesome as well. She can't mess this performance up. With all the drama surrounding her breakup with JP, she needs a good performance to distract from all that.

I'd bet say 500 bucks that she'll be lip synching or at the very least there will be backing tracks. Any takers?

Mariah's World vs VH1 Divas Holiday (68,385) by Andrew from UK
Mariah's World won't be a disaster, the Divas show will. What's the bet Mariah lips her solo songs whilst nobody else does, giggles and acts frantic whilst talking over her parts during duets, and stands back smiling and shaking her head slowly at the floor during groups songs to "show respect" (i.e., shit herself that somebody might ask her to join in without anyone to press play backstage)? What's the bet on her piling on even more pounds and being sewn into something Barbie would wear? Like an actual Barbie. To scale. I'm such a hayturrr.

VH1 (68,384) by Luke from United Kingdom
Have to say I'm a little worried about this event. I hope Mariah gets her vocals in check because she's going to have to be keeping up with other singers that take on belting with ease. Even in 97 or 98 when she sang with Aretha, her vocals still had agility even though she was raspy. It seems now it's that agility she is slightly lacking unless she's singing Thank God I Found You or as I like to call it Thank God I Can Scream For A Good Two Minutes.

Re: Mariah Carey One Sweet Day is saved (68,380) (68,383) by Tevin from USA
I agree mimi l. OSD would have lasted number 1 even longer on the Billboard charts had Boys To Men [sic] delayed there [sic] next single which knocked OSD off its throne. [Webmaster: Not true. "One sweet day" was replaced by "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion. Boyz II Men next number one was in 1997 with "4 Seasons of loneliness", which replaced "Honey" by Mariah Carey.]

Re: Glitter the album / MCIIY (68,382) by R&B Junkie from Poland
1. Fabolous' rap in "Last Night..." is one of the best thing that happend to this album. His verse is outstanding. I love almost the whole album, this is a masterpiece. The older I am I appreciate it more and more. Funny how my love for "Rainbow" or "TEOM" somehow faded thoughout the years (no hate, they're just overplayed and need to rest for some time), but upbeat jams such as "Don't Stop" or "If We" or "All My Life" still have huge rotation.
2. Merry Christmas is a classic album, it is perfection. Vocals are better than on Music Box and only one step behind Daydream. However, as a conscious music listener, I prefer MC2Y. All those orchestrated songs are meant to be listened to during that special time of year. Any time of the year. The production and arrangement of instruments are better than on Merry Christmas. I cannot stand the fact that the album went unnoticed. CTIITAA would be a hit in adult radio stations (in Poland, I don't know how it would work in US) if only had better promo. This album almost had no promotion here (heavy airplay of "All I Want..." every year does not count - BTW, people think this is a cover, not an original song penned by Mariah).

It's so odd that You're Mine was picked above tracks like Faded and Make It Look Good. Criminal they didn't reach a wider audience really.

Re: Mariah Carey One Sweet Day is saved (68,377) (68,380) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Even better, it fell on the 21st anniversary of OSD. OSD, although a great song, is not one that I typically play or reach for. It's always surprising to me how out of all Mariah's #1's this managed to stay on top of the hot 100 for 16 weeks straight. That is crazy. I can understand WBT staying there for 14 weeks, probably wouldn't find it weird if it stayed there more, but ya wow, how did OSD stay there for so long? But just because I don't listen to that song a lot doesn't mean I'd tolerate any one else taking that record away. No sir, that record needs to stay intact for decades haha. Can't believe it's been 21 years and no one can still break it even with the recent Billboard rules.

Re: Glitter album (68,352) (68,379) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
True. I sorta have this "rule" when in comes to music, where a retro spin will not work unless the reference point is at least about 15 years ago. Any time lesser than that will most likely produce unsuccessful results because the wait hasn't been long enough and the sonic landscape has not changed that much, rendering any attempt at recreating that sound pointless. Case in point: while not really meant as a throwback, Mariah's many attempts at recreating the mid-2000s R&B-pop vibe that made TEOM so successful has almost always fallen short/flat. In contrast, Meghan Trainor's fusion of late 90s teen pop with 00s urban pop has worked for her single "No". 2001 was simply too soon for an 80s throwback album. Would it have worked had it been released later? Still probably not that well, but it would have made a little more sense, and that doesn't take away from the fact that Mariah was on to something great - it just happened at the wrong time.

Re: The most awkward photo ever (68,359) (68,378) by Malcolm from Asia
See if Mariah will just present herself like this (excluding the bodysuit of course) she will look elegant and all that. That photo is just plain ugly, too horrible. Come on Kristofer Buckle and Danielle Priano come on that wig is beyond hideous, can't handle it, is she blind to not know Mariah's hairline? Like these people are even famous for their amazing talent, have other A-list clients which they are doing a fantastic job and yet they can't do it for Mariah consistently. So disappointing. And for her management team, I don't know what they were thinking for allowing that pic to be seen by public, please do learn more about damage control. Beyonce's team will never ever allow this kind of sh*t. For the past 2 years that Stella took over, I know she got Mariah some amazing gigs but please enough with the gimmicks already, there's a right and other way to make Mariah "relevant". I know Mariah can also be the one to blame because of her not so good actions and choices but you are all here to handle her properly, heck you are all called as her "management" team. Instead of balancing her diva ways, you are just tolerating her to go beyond that. You are all treating her like trash, washed up star like sometimes I can see that there are more of you that are here just to grab the money than go hard on helping rebuilding her image. That pic that allowed to be posted on public and her hideous wigs and lashes says a lot that they are not doing there 100% for Mariah. Just because they are all comfortable with her, they can just slacks off like that and be with her on vacations not doing the best that they can as Mariah's personnel.

The Chainsmokers' Closer. Tapped out even before 14 weeks. It's quite funny that the guy who worked on the Obsessed remix saved her record.

Mike Will Made It and Mariah (68,376) by Pau from Mexico
I was listening "Black Beatles" for the first time yesterday and I paused when I recognized the "Mike Will Made It" phrase at the beginning of every song Mike Will produces. I realized it's the same phrase we listen at the beginning of "Faded" (of course in "Faded", Mariah also signs it). I've never heard from this producer, although right now, one can find dozens of articles talking about him. He finally hit the jackpot with "Black Beatles" but he has been around for some years and has worked with A-list singers. (He produced "We Can't Stop" and "Formation".) My point here is that we always say that Mariah should work with new producers, and this proves she does. She worked with Mike Will Made It for MIAMTEC and the result was "Faded", which it's a shame wasn't a single but the song is amazing.

Re: Mariah's World (68,372) (68,375) by RibbonB from USA
Stellar's garden variety shows are banal family events, for the most part. This is taking M. deep into Kardashian waters, for no good reason. But also remember this one will be aired world wide, where the MIAM show was just on NBC in the US if I recall. They are trying to guarantee a big bang with ratchet pre-press, IMO.

I would live for that footage of Mariah Bitch slapping Stellar into next week. And don't forget the wig/weave pulling. That's one way to get rid of the wigs you hate.

Re: Mariah's World (68,365) (68,372) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
See that is the thing, both Mariah's special for MIAM and her Christmas special garnered around 3-4 millions views, without much promo. Let's put aside the Christmas special, because anything Christmas related with Mariah is hot commodity, but let's take the much underrated MIAM special that she did, no one knew much about it yet they tuned in to watch it without any drama needed. So I really don't get why she needs to amp up the ratchet act now. Like someone mentioned, why is even the hint/illusion of a possible Bryan-Mariah subplot required if this is supposedly a "docu-series" and something Mariah said she "wanted to do only because she wanted to have memories of the tour and document the process because people are not aware about how a tour actually takes place". Then why do we need any sub-plot for this? Unless it's actually just a garden variety Stella produced ratchet reality show, then have the decency to own up to it instead of continuously barfing at it being called that yet going out of your way to stir drama up.

Merry Christmas 2 You (68,370) by Gilles from Malta
I love this album so much. My people here prefer this album than the first one. I think because on "Merry Christmas" there are more US popular Christmas songs and on Merry Christmas 2 You there are more European popular Christmas songs. On Both we have "All I Want for Christmas is you" and "Holy night". On the other hand Merry Christmas made in 1994 is more considered as a pop Crhsitmas album that's why it did flop in 1994 and didn't get a lot of intention and on the other side "Merry Christmas 2 you" is a classical album out in 2010 (orchestra talking). Regarding my opinion, both albums are nice and are about two different time or area, almost 20 years. I do remember when "All I want for Christmas is you" was out on TV, I was excited but for my parents and my grandparents it was too pop and not enough traditional (traditional catholic Chrsitmas songs in French at this time of my life, no pop, only traditional and classical songs) and after almost all those years it came the Christmas hit and the Christmas song the most played in all the world. Hey hey it is funny how time can change things. Anyway I would not name Merry Christmas to you a mistake but a way to keep Mariah the Queen of Christmas by turning the first record as a classical record and to make some excellent music additions.
