Re: Miley's comments (66,803) (66,820) by Andrew from UK
Demi and Miley, sisters in arms. Wonder if they've seen much of Cinderella since the wedding?

Infamous (66,819) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I am happy Mariah went with her current vocal state instead of using studio magic that would be questionable to duplicate live. Also after listening to the song again I have to say this song fits perfectly with the Empire brand and sound. But something in my spirit tells me that the new album is going to be slow writing and recording process simply because Mariah is at a place where the general public is questioning her abilities and talent so I think this next album will be a special as well as an important body of work. The I this.

100% with you Todd. Why so many hate? For me her voice sounds good in there, it sounds natural. Yeah it's not what I expect but still, it's a better song compared to Infinity and I don't get why is it bad that "it's very Empire" when that's the goal in the first place, it fits as a soundtrack to the series. Can't blame other people/casual listeners for not supporting Mariah because in her fans alone, she can't get their 100% support.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,812) (66,817) by Bill from the UK
Earpiece dramas, haha. Infamous hasn't wowed me but it might be a grower. As much as people didn't take to Infinity, at least it had some energy, a melody, and some showmanship to it. Good that Mariah is using current vocals and it is something she can sing live without an issue, but it just made me long for the days when she'd brightly and breezily beam out "I need a lover to give me" or "when you walk by every night", but we are where we are.

Infamous (66,816) by Sheila from United States
We all know Empire does not produce hits. We all know Empire's music is so-so. Infamous does sound like a typical Rnb song. Vocals are basic, melody is typical. It will work fine with the theme and may get Mariah back on radio for a minute.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,812) (66,814) by Musti from UK
I agree. I don't really like the song and I really wish she would drop the fingersnap sound. But her voice sounds good and unfiltered. She could easily sing this live. I'm glad she's gradually leaving high chest notes behind.

This song may very well live up to its title. Mariah sounds tired and disinterested. Jussie is Jussie, although he manages to be somewhat tolerable for the most part. All sounds meh until apparently some T-Pain impersonator goes all out on the bridge. The chorus wouldn't even pass as a verse for any song in any of Mariah's earlier albums. I always thought Terrence had a questionable ear for what sounds good, but boy does this validate it. This definitely does not me feel like I'm hearing Mariah for the first time. If I wanted that then I'd just listen to Butterfly over and over again. This is not horrendous, but it is just so weak. I'd be floored if this weirdly turned out to be successful.

Infamous vocals (66,812) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
I'm gonna go against y'all and say that I don't mind it. It's leaps and bounds above Infinity. And the vocals actually sound like her current voice. She could actually sing this live without there being earpiece dramas.

I got a chance to listen to the new song Infamous and I will say while I crave new Mariah music, but this is not it. I understand it has to fit into the show but it sounds very Memiors left overs with dated production. I know for sure that this is not where she is headed if she wants any chance of redeeming what is left of her legacy or any chance of making a decent showing on the charts with her next album. On a side note Jussie Smollett's voice is terrible and very whiney in my opinion and auto tune does not help.

The meet-and-greet guy (66,810) by Andrew from UK
I'm glad he has some support from some friends on here. But let's be honest here in that he is more than likely a total whack job. I don't know him, admittedly, but following anybody that closely, when it is affecting your life that much that you are dropping (what is probably) all your money on it, spending so much time on it, making crazy-ass things like dolls that only children should be making, well, at worst, you aren't all there and at best, you have issues - you certainly are not normal and will have made people wary of you. If you then kick off or even act a little temperamental, people will x10 it, because you already had them on edge. So, I'm glad he has support, but I changed my (brief) opinion on this. Just because he's (alarmingly) throwing money at Mariah to hang out regularly for a few moments, seeming to (alarmingly) need her to qualify his existence, doesn't mean he should get special treatment. The person who pays ten times shouldn't have exceptions made for them over the person who pays one time. It sounds like anyone who knows him should have a word with him and try to help him figure out what's wrong and lead a normal, grown-up life.

The lesser MC (66,809) by Andrew from UK
Miley Cyrus [censored] marketing tool based solely upon the premise of "Yeah, we do what we want, cos we, like, do what we want 'n' stuff." Which is fantastic if what you want is to act like a [censored]. Now I really don't go in for teenage-fangirling every time someone criticises Mariah, but Miley Cyrus is beyond irritating. She made a lot of money because of a television show made for young teenage girls. It will be interesting to see if she can carry on making money with the flatulence once the generation to which she appeals finally grows up (which has probably got to be some time around, um, now).

Just heard the new song. It's just bad and dated. Finger snapping, strained vocals. Really Mariah?

Infamous (66,806) by Martyn from England, UK
Terrible. Dated. Auto-tuned. Just awful. Praying this isn't an indication of what the album is going to sound like.

Still lamenting "Infamous" (66,805) by ZachSingsMariah from USA
Speaking of MIAM and single choices, I still believe "You Don't Know What To Do" and "Dedicated" were two of the biggest missed single opportunities of MC's career. Both songs are absolutely magical, and would have been very marketable and radio-friendly. Both had true hit potential, yet it was wasted. I honestly cringe at many of the career choices Mariah has made the last several years, especially since Stella came into the picture. I think "Infamous" is further evidence that Mariah is surrounded, and maybe even deluded, by "yes" people who do not know how to steer her in a direction that adequately uses her talents. Still, I am excited to see how she does as Kitty on Empire next week.

Re: "Looking In" by a Filipino lamb (66,782) (66,804) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Pinoy lambs are very active. They schedule get-togethers (translation: Mariah karaoke nights) quite regularly and I would honestly join them if I didn't live so far away. This singer I believe calls herself Petals, and evidently, she's really good at what she does. And this is pretty much just a warm-up for her. Makes me so proud to be a lamb and a Filipino one at that.

Miley's comments (66,803) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Truth: her and Demi's comments represent how this generation perceives Mariah Carey to a certain extent. Meanwhile, I'm just gonna sit here and not even bother to bring out the popcorn because this issue is bound to end up like all the other disses that have come before - they won't really matter anyway. I swear, a year from now, I know for sure I won't be even saying, "Hey remember that time when Miley dissed Mariah?" Imma be more like, "Oh yeah, that actually happened. It gave us some laughs." And now here I am barely recalling what Demi even said back then, which was just like two months ago. Exactly.

Mehh. It's very Empire.

Infamous (66,801) by RibbonB from USA
Wow. Based on the preview of next week's Empire, "Infamous" will be fire. Mariah's voice is full and powerful and the beat is jamming. It seems like a slow burner. I'm impressed from the 5 second snippett. Whoo hoo. Go Mimi.

Re: Mariah's meet and greet disaster-nadia (66,773) (66,800) by 123 from USA
Well I guess that would explain why her security team was so comfortable speaking to him that way. Maybe the whole situation got out of hand. I felt really bad for him because of the money he spent but it sounds like he is in close connection to Mariah anyway. Nice guy to give you a great ticket and merch for free.

Infamous (66,799) by 123 from USA
So the song is ok. At least her voice doesn't sound autotune and she stuck to her mid range. Way better than Infinity. Glad it's not a lead single and it will tie me over for now until her new stuff comes out. Listen here.

Infamous (66,798) by Stacey from USA
After the debacle that was Infinity (sorry, but it really was that bad) we get Infamous. This song restored my faith that Mariah can still sing good music. The only part that bugged me was Jussie's overuse of the autotune. Anyways, enjoy.

Miley who?

Infamous (66,796) by Licia from USA
Ok here are my thoughts on the song. I like it. It's not the best song ever, but it's an improvement over Crapfinity. I'm a realist so I knew not to expect 96 vocals with 1990-2003 lyrics. For the purpose it was recorded for it's a decent song.
