Re: Who is Mariah Carey? (63,023) (63,029) by Licia from USA
I noticed a while ago that she hasn't mentioned her mother. She didn't even get on social media to wish her a happy mother's day like she used to do. I was sad to see everything going on with Morgan, but it will break my heart if there is something going bad between her and her mother.

Re: Mariah Carey talks about J-Lo (radio interview) (63,025) (63,028) by Mirage_Nunez from America
True. The thing that many are failing to acknowledge is that Mariah did clear up the confusion, said something pleasant regarding JLo, and had totally put a rest to the rumoured feud. So she did infact let it go. They could've easily just moved on from there and possibly fully made amends one day, but this time it was JLo throwing the shade. I'm sorry guys, but texting during Mariah's performance, then describing it as "a long performance", and playing into Wendy's mess by calling MC "forgetful" was all shadiness. Wendy had her facts wrong anyway because Mariah never said "who" when JLo is mentioned. So JLo shouldn't have fell for that. All JLo had to say was "We've met in passing a few times, but we don't know each other on a personal level" and that would've been cool with no shade detected. I think you are totally on to something when saying it's being used to stay relevant, because I noticed JLo never acknowledge the feud until her career cooled off. I don't see what Mariah said that was so terrible in recent interviews anyway, she just jokes about being "forgetful". But in all seriousness, I'm not an advocate for bad blood or bad energy, so I would love it if they both step up to the plate and ended the pettiness.

Re: Brenda - JLo (63,014) (63,027) by B from USA
Brenda had a minor hit with I Still Believe and was struggling to find an audience. The demise of her career isn't Mariah's fault. She had a decent voice but she couldn't compete with Madonna, Whitney, or Janet and she was released from her contract.

High gloss/high glam video (63,026) by RibbonB from USA
I would love for Mariah to do a really high glam video especially with that wide brim Giorgio Armani hat. She looked awesome in the hat and had an air of mystery. I think a well done video where she was directed by Sade's long term video director could be really good. "Kitchy koo" as Wendy says is cute, but straight up glamour could be really nice. She gave a little of that in the Say Something video, but she was mostly acting kitchy koo with pharell in that video. Who knows when she will have new music and make a video, but just an idea.

Mariah Carey talks about J-Lo (radio interview) (63,025) by 123 from USA
I will say, that on one is asking Mariah to be like anyone other than herself. The only reason people mention other artist's recent displays is just to give an example that it can still be done currently. All these things that people are asking for are positive behaviors and characteristics she has displayed in the past. Mariah seemed to try to somewhat get past it during the Charmbracelet and completely during TEOM. It seems like when Mariah was riding high she seems to let the petty drama go, but when she is in a career slump she seems to become petty again. Was it because Benny was managing her at the time? And for those that say Mariah should and would never look to JLo in anyway in regards to her career well she did hire her manager and had a huge career comeback with him. Since he has managed both of them and back with JLo hasn't he had a conversation with each of them about each other and the "beef". JLo saying Mariah was "forgetful" was a straight up "read" that references Wendy's commentary about Mariah's "fragile" state of mind. I don't blame her for finally clapping back, but she knows Wendy's shady ass would try to drudge up old drama for ratings. In my book, meeting someone is not knowing them. An acquaintance at best. So the "I don't know her" was warranted, even the shady part, at the time. Fast forward to 2016 and this is getting old. To me Mariah is just using the shade to make her relevant again as for some reason, "shade" seems to have finally hit mainstream and all the kids on social media seem to be obsessed with it. The young stars do it, but is very beginner's level, but when Mariah throws out her master class shade all the kids latch on to it, if only for a moment, which helps make her relevant. It's funny because she has been doing it for so long, but only now has caught on with the general public. Mariah has said nice things about JLo and I just would prefer her to stay consistent with what she said in this radio interview.

Although Licia, the beginning of JP is like the phase out of Nick with the work, work, work, work. I really am saddened that Mariah is almost never seen with her dogs anymore, we know she has had some rift with her brother and sister, but she is never seen with her mother anymore either. Not even at her Hollywood walk of fame ceremony. Thank God for Roc and Roe being there, or it would have been Brett, Lee, and Stella. That's a sad way to celebrate a monumental moment.

The truth is usually somewhere in the middle (63,022) by Edward from USA
It's easy to blame others for whatever happens in Mariah's World. I'm guilty of having done that in the past. Jennifer, unlike Mariah, wasn't creatively picking samples, writing or producing her own music. She wasn't aware of what Mariah was recording, Tommy was. I don't think Tommy came to Jennifer and had a "Let's f**k Mariah up" conversation with her, most likely she was taken to the studio to record whatever she was presented with. Tommy, according to Ja Rule and Irv Gotti, was the one who basically rushed him in the Studio and into recording a video for Jennifer's song, they never mentioned Jennifer as having anything to do with it. Tommy then continue with his sabotage saga convincing DJ's not to play Mariah, that also came to the light. Tommy, in my opinion, used Jennifer as a pawn. I do believe Mariah and Jennifer are victims of this situation. Fast-forwarding about 8 years in, Jennifer has said very nice things about Mariah. Not once has she said anything negative. She even stated she was a fan. She even was on that radio show Nick had and gave them advice for when them babies came. Jennifer didn't start anything. But of course with Mariah's shade saying she doesn't know her without explaining anything, when they have obviously met, I would've said that she was forgetful too. Saying someone is forgetful is not shade. When Mariah was asked about Adele, she never said she didn't know her, but clearly said she hadn't heard her album. So this catty and childish "I don't know her" stuff has to stop. Mariah is a genius, but she's obviously focusing more on anything other than good music. And when she puts out songs out like "Infinity", people blame other people because Mariah is always a victim here. Many people talk about how Mariah should do Mariah. Well, let's see if the "super-lambs" alone can give her a hit. Had it been that way, and Mariah were this very likeable, humble and relatable persona, MIAMTEC would've sold millions. Adele is not necessarily what some would considered an hour-glass figured sexy vixen, but her humbleness, demeanor and good music have made her the star that she is. Had Mariah come out with "Hello", I don't think she would've had the same results. Why? Because music and name alone won't bring in the numbers. If people don't like you, you're f**ked. For those of you that would like Mariah to go the Prince way, well, sit down and wait for a new album in another 10 years. In the meantime she could have a successful reality show called "Keeping up with the Bulochnikov's".

Re: Brenda - JLo (63,013) (63,021) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
For J.Lo to issue an apology publicly is impossible although I suggested it in my previous post. It was actually the way I want to say something in the line of Mariah will never forgive and forget on J.Lo involvement of her "darkest" period (forgive my OTT diction ). It is almost impossible for Mariah to let it go. As for Brenda, I never heard about the story on the label dropped her because of Mariah. If there's a truth in it, still I don't think that's similar to the J.Lo-Tommy alliance. By the way, I love JK's interview and that TMZ head-on crash video (yea, they used the word crash). Mariah is such a funny lady.

Thank you Bill. What a lovely interview. This is the Mariah I love. Yes, she seems to have that inner peace. Her charisma is so unique. How can anybody not love that smile. So beautiful. And her eyes, the mirror to a human's soul. Gorgous. The interviewer was although very nice, good questions.

Re: Identity crisis? Who is Mariah Carey? (63,006) (63,018) by Licia from USA
Well Marissa most of the fans excuse the situation with James because he's a billionaire. It doesn't matter that it seems to be the same situation that she was supposedly in with Nick. His billionaire status gives him a pass. I'm assuming she feels that same way as some of the fans because she say she's happy (shrugs).

I loved the Pinko commercial. Those photos were real cool and stylish. I agree that a commercial with a song would be very nice. I love the parfum intro from "For the record". But new music is what I'm longing for.

Re: Brenda - JLo (63,012) (63,014) by Licia from USA
I've never heard any of this about Brenda. I've always wondered why all of a sudden there seemed to be animosity from her towards Mariah though. I agree that Mariah didn't have anything to do with Brenda being dropped. I remember when I Still Believe came out and that's the only song I know from Brenda to be honest. I totally understand how Mariah feels and she has every right to feel this way. I'm not asking for her to make Jennifer her bff. I just want them both to be adults and end it. Stop taking jabs at each other and stop giving the media more ammunition to pit them against each other. Right now this whole fight is keeping them in the news, but in the long run it won't help either of their images imo.

Re: Brenda - JLo (63,012) (63,013) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yea, they managed to have a good relationship because Brenda didn't start blaming Mariah for her downfall in the beginning. I think she hinted towards it later on in life. Secondly one can't expect Jennifer to issue a public apology like someone else wrote a while back (not you) because why would she ruin her reputation? Would I want her to maybe reach out to Mariah in private and say that she is sorry for what happened and would love to get to know her? For sure. That would be great. Mariah can also be the bigger person and do that. They have a lot in common. Both are of the same age, both are in the music industry, both have twins and are divorced single mothers. Anyways as for applying this to our own lives and having to forgive and forget someone who has betrayed us/done us wrong and be polite about them. I think a lot of people can claim to have done that, including me. This happens in work places all the time, within families and friends too. Also, I would like to add that I can't blame Mariah for initially being pissed at JLo and saying those things. She was young, she was in a bad state in her life trying to get back on her feet and she was on her own trying to get her brand back whereas previously her career was closely calculated for her by her team. Not to mention a lot of people abandoned her for Tommy. So ya. But it is over 15 years now, she is a changed person. This can be put to rest. There is really no excuse for the current shades. I fact Mariah came out the winner. She got her TEOM. Ever since then JLo kind of slowly fizzled out.

Re: Brenda - JLo (63,003) (63,012) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Now I don't see that as the same scenario though. one being that Mariah has always sighted Brenda throughout her entire career for helping her, payed tribute by remaking "I Still Believe", made her apart of her TV special in 1999, and basically stayed on good terms with her up until the early 2000s (not sure why things went south with them afterwards). Also I don't think it was a case of Brenda being blacklisted or sabotaged, her career was just never that huge to began with (no shade). She was dropped due to poor album sales. It's one thing for someone's God given talent to naturally overshadow you, it's another thing for someone to purposely try to destroy/derail your career. (It's deeper than the sample.) As for Jennifer we all know that Tommy was pulling the strings. She was just guilty by association in the sabotage of Mariah. My only gripe with her is she eventually found out what happened and didn't seem to really care, which (in my opinion) is just as bad in the big scheme of things and can't be glossed over. Seeing how everything played out nearly destroyed Mariah, should've spark some feeling in any true good hearted person is what I'm saying. If I was Mariah I wouldn't blame Jennifer, but I probably wouldn't be too thrilled about her either. Now am I saying it was necessary for MC to shade her in the magazine the following year? No not at all. I actually remember reading it at the time and was surprised she went there. However, her feelings about what happened to her were valid and justified. I don't blame her for not having anything to say about certain people. I damn sure wouldn't lie and say I like someone that bothers me. I challenge anyone that has a hard time grasping this concept to put themselves in MC's shoes and apply this to a parallel situation in your life.

Re: Glam Mariah (62,986) (63,011) by 123 from USA
I always wondered why we haven’t seen her in any major campaign in a while, especially for a big label. The only time I remember her doing anything was with Pinko, anyone remember that back in, 06 maybe? If you noticed, she dressed better during her campaign. With all these side hustles this would be one that would make more sense and that could actually benefit her singing career. A song placed in the commercial perhaps?

Jimmy Kimmel (63,010) by 123 from USA
I loved her on this show. She didn't ramble or primp much, and instead of putting on the diva act for a gag, it almost sounded like she was having a conversation with her friend. She was very funny, which people don't get because they think she is being serious when she puts on her diva act, no one gets this gag except her fans. She looked great in that green dress and her body is smoking. I didn't see it as laughing at her, but rather with her when they did the bathtub skit. I think most people thought she was too much of a diva to actually get into the tub in a full gown with expensive jewelry and actually get wet. But she was a good sport and jumped right in. I liked that Jimmy went along with getting fed grapes as well. I felt this moment made her likable. I was watching the interview with a non-lamb and they had a positive reaction. "She seems to be having fun and enjoying life. I'm glad she isn't taking herself to seriously and got in the tub. She's funny." She seems to get more relaxed and being more herself instead of continuing to push a joke that no one gets.

JK interview (63,008) by Zac Mills from United States
So I noticed in the bathtub interview the minute JK mentioned Mariah's fiancé might get jealous that she was in the tub with another man (right after Tanaka and Anthony came out with champagne and grapes) she said he won't care or something along those lines. She also changes the subject quickly probably thinking he may go back to the two guys that came out, but she avoids his comment by asking for more bubbles. Mariah either has attention deficit or is the master of diversion in every single interview, and it seems every interviewer does not divert back to their topic once she goes off of it. I have never seen anything like it. It's almost like she cant stay on topic or just changes subject in avoidance. Back to the poster that said who is the real Mariah. I agree in the wondering if the Mariah we saw the first 7 years of her career was not her at all and post 97 and especially now is the real her. I think the real Mariah writes those lyrics though and that is the one that I want to see more of. Diva is overdone and we get that she is a "queen who slays" but please just downsize it a little.

Re: Identity crisis? Who is Mariah Carey? (62,979) (63,006) by Marissa from USA
I'm going to preface this post with the obligatory fact that I don't know for sure what's going on in their relationship, but I can only go with my thoughts on what I see on the surface. I don't understand how Mariah went from being miserable that Nick was always gone to wanting to marry a billionaire who is based in a country on the other side of the world and who is extremely busy. I also don't understand how she's comfortable with him being a smoker. Or why he would propose to her knowing good and well that neither his nor her divorce was finalized. Or even how someone as private and aloof as him can handle Mariah going to the club, having nip slips a couple times a week, being surrounded by hot dancers even when they are off the clock or constantly being surrounded by the traveling circus aka entourage with no alone time. I want Mariah to be happy but nowadays I'm just confused as to how this works/is going to work.

Re: Article: Gaga fans start petition to stop Madonna and Mariah (63,004) (63,005) by ADAM from USA
I think you're misinformed. Just because Mariah has gay people in her entourage and personal friends she has not made overt strides within the gay community to warrant an award from GLAAD. I agree with Gaga's fans that she is more deserving of that award. Gaga explicity supported the gay community before she became a star and still does in no unclear terms like Mariah does. Mariah has always generalized any statements about her music for all fans and not made any specific statements or overtures addresses the gay community or our struggles. She's never performed at Pride events or denounced any public figures who spoke of any anti gay rhetoric. Just because she allowed her image to be used on the cover of several gay magazines and referenced 2 gay men during her childhood who helped her mom does not make her a gay ally. With someone of Mariah's stature and influence among spiritual/black community, Mariah had the potential to become a real icon for the gay movement if she wanted to but she has not. I'm not saying she should. I'm just stating facts and correcting any false pretense that Mariah is a gay ally or rightful recipient of a GLAAD award.
