Re: Clapback at Wendy Williams (62,842) (62,844) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Regardless of that, my point was directed at King/Queen/Empress talking about how Mariah should clap back more often at Wendy and others who talk about it.

Re: Be civilized (62,841) (62,843) by Andrew from UK
There is nothing civilised about conspiracy theories and fabricated nonsense about silly religions, secret "minders", and so on, especially from people who show they have little intellect, who claim that they're somehow in the know and everyone who doesn't agree is naive. I face insults on almost a daily basis on this board, and pretty much I don't care because those who make the insults how they deserve no respect. But silly conspiracy theories are idiotic and silly Stella obsessions are making this a board of total and utter nonsense. They're the posturings of the dumb. Where did all the interesting people go? Losers abound here lol. Let me "call them out". That's the line they use to somehow immediately validate their opinions, right? Lol come on. This is continually and rapidly descending into farce.

I could be wrong but I think the Wendy response videos were more for publicity and "banter". Even Lee's words about Mariah being fragile were probably to get news for the upcoming show.

Could we please have civilized discussions? If you don't agree with somebody, that's fine. You can discuss the subject of just ignore it. There is no need for name-calling.

And what be petty like her? That's the image you want for Mariah? Wendy says crap about a lot of celebs and they are above her so they don't even think it's necessary to respond to her. How many times have she talked crap about JLo? Or Angelina Jolie? She does it all the time. If Mariah starts stooping to Wendy's level what will be the difference between the two? If Mariah keeps responding to things like these, Wendy will have a ball and say that these are true so it is getting to Mariah. I will never understand why the "true lambs" always want Mariah to get down and dirty and be shady/petty. This isn't high school.

Re: Parallels between MC and Riri's career (62,802) (62,836) by darrian liu from taiwan
Rainbow was very in-trend musically. It encapsulates the sound of 1999 teen pop R&B. Basically it follows trends. Glitter and Charmbracelet were exceptions. TEOM sets the trend for ballads after WBT but some of its uptempos were trendy. E=MC2 was a full-blown attempt at really radio friendly, mainstream music and MOAIA is somehow in the middle of mainstream and classic MC (Obsessed vs Languishing). The music isn't what hinders Mariah from hits in the 2000s. It was the image control. The only time she really hits the nail in the 2000s was TEOM. E=MC2's success was partially due to TEOM's massive success. Tbh I don't want Mariah to follow trends. She'll look desperate that way. What I want is that she combines some of the current trends and her classic sound and create something original. Or maybe go the Beyoncé route and focus on the albums fully, instead of individual singles.

TRUTH, I didn't know Nickelodeon was part of all that mess. I thought it was mainly Disney. I can see what you mean though, I thought about Stella being the introducer. I really do hope Mariah stays clear from all that, otherwise the "lambs" will have to be renamed to "sheep".

Yes and the rabbit hole goes far deeper than any of us know. As far as "Christianinty" goes, we can choose to believe the stories we are fed about this one or that one being "religious"or we can dig deeper and see that the most dangerous predator is always the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Yep, that must be it. I'm so delusional and in denial. You are so right. Gosh, thank you so much for clearing things up for me. The ironic thing is, I could say the same thing about your opinion. Making up drama about Celine that just isn't there. Peace.

Re: Rihanna by Giovanni (62,830) by Natalia from Italy
I can't let you get away with calling Rihanna's current album a flop. That was quite absurd. "Anti" peaked at number one in its second week on the US Billboard 200 chart with 166,000 equivalent-album units sold. "Work", featuring Drake, was released as the lead single from Anti, and peaked at #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became Rihanna's 14th number one single on the chart. That is indeed not a flop. You go on to say, "She doesn't have one iconic, legendary song in her whole entire catalog." This makes you seem just a bit insane. "Umbrella" is probably her most iconic song, hitting #1 around the world on almost every chart. "Don't Stop the Music", "Rude Boy", and "Only Girl in the World", "We Found Love" and "S&M" are also very big hits around the world. She may not be to your liking, but I can assure you, she will be remembered 20 years from now, as the girl from the small island of Barbados, who encompassed a broad range of genres, sold millions of records worldwide, and left her mark on the world of music like no one else has before her.

Right on Deedre. I feel similarly to you and Stacey on this one. Celine was feeling it. It's all some practically twenty year old drama a gossip on tv dug up. Same with I don't know her. Wait, but did you see the shady smile on her face when she said it?

Re: Mariah's brand/image (62,822) (62,828) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree, the video was pretty sloppy and looked like an amateur job. I didn't like any part of it and using clips from "Honey" was unnecessary since it had no relation to the song. I remember at that time there was this rumor that she is doing a video that involves action and helicopters so I thought maybe they are doing an Agent M 2.0 so that would explain the old clips, but that turned out to be false. Why Mariah thought it was good enough to put out is beyond me. That's my views though, I would like to hear B's view. Why did you think it was brilliant? I want to know because I might have missed something and I sometimes have a change of heart when I hear another person's perspective different from mine.

Ya or "Collectively 12" since they all want to remain 12. Poor Sasha has to be 12 without even turning 12 yet.

Mariah is finally giving that person a reply. She should do it more often because that person came for Mariah so many times before.

Re: Parallels between MC and Riri's career (62,802) (62,824) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
So some of you prefer that Mariah makes maketable music to stay on top of the charts instead of making her music with her lyrics and her input? Are you people for real? Question: Do you like Mariah the artist or Mariah the chart topper? Giovanni knows. Mariah is different because she does things her way. Her legacy is out there, she will be a reference for several generations. Rhianna will be forgotten. In 20 years time lets see who's song will play.

Re: Mariah's brand/image (62,816) (62,822) by Malcolm from Asia
But it doesn't mean the video was great. I can't elaborate why but I can tell that it isn't beautifully crafted. The usage of random photos of cars and boats in the part of "why you tryin to play like you're so grown" alone is a no no. I only like the "infinity"/purple parts but the rest looks patchy. This is one example of a well executed lyric video.

Re: Divas Live 1998 (62,790) (62,821) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Ok this will be my last post on this topic (before I continue I just want to say despite varied viewpoints on her vocals I really do absolutely adore Mariah's performance that night). I'm well aware Mariah held back and stayed in the background out of respect for Aretha. I have seen all the interviews about it and I don't take what she says as a huge slam or bash against Celine. I have always taken it as Mariah stating her views, her opinion on the approach to singing with a legend period. Mariah and Celine had different approaches to the same thing. Why shouldn't that be ok? I have never understood this in relation to this discussion. It doesn't make one person right and the other wrong. MC is not wrong for choosing to hang back, and Celine isn't wrong for singing a couple riffs. It's not like she took over the whole song and it clearly wasn't planned out. A huge part of performing is what comes out right there in the moment with passion and heart.

Stacey (62,820) by Giovanni from USA
You're obviously in denial and delusional to not see Celine was definitely trying to take the spotlight and out do Aretha. When I first saw "Divas live" I said said to myself, "Sit down Celine you look like a fool." "Best believe you wouldn't have tried that with Patti." She would have shut you down easily." Haha. Mariah was the real star that shined that night. The "Make it happen" performance was amazing and probably one of the best performances of the song. She looked iconic and legendary.
