Re: Carey family drama (60,561) (60,564)

It's kinda silly that people are coming for Mariah because she allegedly refused to pay Alison's bills. I see a lot of people talking about how she is selfish for being so rich but not helping her sister. No one really thinks for a while that things may not be what it seems. That there might be other things at play here, things we do not know and judging Mariah (for something so personal) is wrong especially when we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle. People don't think for once that why will this woman help save the life of a former employee by footing their bills and yet turn a blind eye towards her family. Wake up people, there must be a reason and really it's none of our business. We can judge Mariah's art as much as we want, but her personal life is mostly off limits.

New album (60,563)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|

I agree, Mariah should have absolutely no rappers on the next album. It should be a mix of classic Mariah mixed with the new Mimi. Basically "Music Box" meets "The Emancipation Of Mimi", but more on the ballads side. I definitely want more ballads with pop, r&b, soul and gospel. As well as an amazing cover art and title. "Songbird Supreme" would be an excellent title. It's more or less Mariah reminding everyone that to this day she remains unmatched and untouchable. Even some of today's best singers like Adele, Beyonce, Tori Kelly or Sia could never even come close. That's a fact.

Mariah - Leeds show (60,562)
by Anthony Carey from U.K
| |
|
|
Well I have just returned from the amazing show in Leeds UK and have to say Mariah is on fire. The set list was fantastic, her voice was in amazing form and was truly a walk through Mariah memory lane. Now onto the negative people. I witnessed concert members booing before Mariah came on stage "apparently" 45 minutes late, well first of all I was informed by Ticketmaster that Mariah would arrive onstage at 9.15pm and did in fact arrive 9.30pm. Therefore, only 15 minutes late, so all this ridiculous negativity about 45 minutes late. Let it go. Mariah gave everybody a outstanding performance and it just annoys me when people have nothing better to do than hate on Mariah. To those who always seek pleasure on being constantly negative and jumping on the bandwagon, I suggest you go find a hobby as you have way to much free time on your hands. Rant over.

Carey family drama (60,561)
by B from USA

Alison sold Mariah out to the tabloids and after several failed attempts at getting Alison the help she desperately needed she gave up. Morgan has now followed suit and is selling stories to tabloids. She has supported her whole family. She basically raised Shawn. Her siblings have turned on her because she won't give them money and it's sad. I'm sure Mariah would pay for Alison's medical needs but Alison probably said give me the money which is a no no when dealing with a drug addict prostitute. Why Morgan is doing what he's doing is beyond me but my gut is telling me it also has something to do with money.

You obviously don't know anything about Mariah Carey. She's always late and it isn't disrespectful to her fans. She had a reason for being late. She'll be late to her own funeral. Liz Taylor was late to her's as instructed by her in her will. It's all part of the diva part that fans want her to play and yet they complain when she does so.

I totally agree, it is so disrespectful. Please, don't do this to your fans. At least have the curtesy to show up in time for your own concert. I don't understand how she can be late. I would be ashamed if I did that to people. It is not OK Mariah.

Tardy Mariah, naughty Mariah (60,557)
by Natalia from Italy

Keeping your fans waiting is so not cool. I can understand keeping and interviewer waiting, or even showing up late to other events, but to keep your own fans waiting is so disrespectful. I'm glad they were booing her, maybe she will learn from this. Why does she do that? So annoying. If it takes you that long to get ready, how about starting to get ready an hour earlier? I love you Mimi, but seriously, this needs to stop, please. How would you feel if you walked out to an empty stadium and all of your fans were running an hour late to your show. Of course that would never happen, but maybe you should be a little more considerate to those of us who are paying a hefty price from our meager salaries to come and see you.

Lol "reality nonsense" I can't. But I agree, 25 years into the business Mariah doesn't really need a reality show just to have an image overhaul because she has achieved enough success even with the haters around. So if she is just focusing on getting an image makeover out of this show, it'll be a waste, like American Idol was a waste. I think she initially signed on to AI to use it as a platform to promote MIAM, but that didn't work out due to the delays. So this time around she needs to work on that.

Does anyone remember how after the Rainbow tour Mariah's vocals improved on Glitter. She also made a comment about how doing the Charmbracelet tour strengthened her voice so I think she's going to use this reality nonsense to promote a new single or album. If she doesn't it's a wasted opportunity.

After Milli Vanilli's scandal and a background singer claimed her voice was used to boost Paula Abdul's vocals on her debut album it was a smart decision. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't she do all of the backing vocals on her debut herself?

Sibling rivalry (60,553)
by Manny from U.S.

I think no fan should have any opinion of what Mariah should do in her personal life. What she went through with her family is real personal. Leave the woman alone. We might think she is our friend but let's not get it twisted here. I love Mariah but she can do what she wants with her money. She doesn't need to give anything to anybody. We do not know enough of her angst growing up with her family. In the early 90's, I saw and read the interviews related to the Alison custody battle and it was real sad. Mariah is my hero.

Mariah touring (60,551)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
As much as I'm clamoring for new music from Mariah, I'm actually glad she's touring again. And by touring I mean multiple-continent extensive touring. Maybe she realized that she really needs to reconnect with her fans. While there may be no problem with fan devotion here in Asia, sadly, the same can't be said for most other parts of the globe. Heck, not even her homeland supports her that well anymore. Maybe this is what she needs - a time away from the mainstream musical spotlight. I remember her acknowledging the positive effect her Charmbracelet tour has had on her voice somewhere. I hope this tour does her the same favors and inspires her to write stellar new material. No more attempts at recreating her past hits. No more rent-a-rapper collaborations. No more lazy cut-and-paste "remixes" slipped at the end of the new album as bonus material. No more "safe" tracks with the usual producers unless they introduce something new. Just all-new, reinvigorated Mariah.

MC-Whitney (60,549)

I read somewhere that Mariah asked for permission from Whitney's family before including Whitney in the WYB performance for this tour. I think that was really sweet and classy of her. It also shows her genuine love, admiration and respect for Whitney and that she is not the exploitative kind.

Ticket sales (60,545)
by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA

It's great to hear rave reviews for Mariah's Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. It's also nice to see her tickets selling out at StubHub. It's also nice to check her facebook and hear from UK fans that Ticketmaster had to add VIP seats for availability because the regular seats sold out so quickly. I am happy and proud of Mariah. This actually looks well for her here in the States. Mariah is not known for touring so to get any sort of rave reviews in a very strict market, according to several outlets, is fantastic and needs to continue. She looks happy. When she's happy and confident, she is the greatest. Keep it up Mariah. Pow.

Slipping Away is quite clearly about her crumbling marriage so maybe that's why it never made it onto the album. It's a real shame, that song is just sublime.

That's an excellent observation. Her current voice would go great with Do You Think Of Me or Slipping Away or The Wind. Anyone of those songs without any backup tracks live would be all any lamb would need to be fully satisfied. One can hope right? Lol.

A duet or new song with another adult contemporary artist would be amazing. Just think how nice it would be if she recorded a song with Elton John or George Michael. I would just die. Maybe since she was at Elton's Oscar party they talked about new music together. That would be legendary.

I was thinking the same thing. Not everybody at these shows is on YouTube checking out her performances or critiquing her every move like members of the lamibily do. Many are casual fans that want to hear songs they know when they go see her. Especially since she hasn't toured in these markets for over a decade. It's more like reminding people about her and what she can do live. I felt that's how Vegas went also. I get where people are coming from and I would love to go to a Mariah concert at a theater and hear her perform many of her amazing album tracks. Some artists do shows more in that vain. Some perform whole albums. Maybe one day it'll happen, who knows?
