Re: Future releases (61,212) (61,229) by darrian liu from taiwan
I love that version of Triumphant. Although it's fan-made, I actually prefer that version of Triumphant.

Re: Future releases (61,210) (61,228) by darrian liu from taiwan
That's why. Unlike previous years, 2015 and 2016 are quite unpredictable, but the one thing I noticed is that recent hits' production sounded simpler and less crowdy. Unlike 2012-2013 for example, those years' hits were packed with synths and dance beats with a lot going on with the instrumentation. This year's hits, from "Work" to "Hello" to "Hands to Myself" to "Love Yourself", there are not many layers of instrumentation and the production are kept minimal, to the point you can hear every single layer of instrumentations easily. That's why I thought Mariah should keep her next single's production really simple as it will really suit her amazing vocals. I guess we did describe WBT lol, but not another replica, please.

Her songs weren't written by that many people. WBT for example samples two different songs lyrically.

Would make a great album title. I love it.

With all due respect, I don't need to be told when to "chime in". The truth is self-evident. Whatever you're trying to do, I'm not your puppet. Much love.

Lambs I need your input (61,222) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
So this was very recently obviously and sung differently from when the tour first started. My question is the climax - lip synced, backing track, pre-recorded vocal? I mean I love it either way because its new and fresh, but man we all know she can't lip for her life and everything was perfect, so I'm perhaps foolishly leaning toward live (Andrew chime in here please lol). Then there is this one even more recently and not as great, but even more "live" in my opinion. Has she jaded us to the point where we even disbelieve a fantastic vocal? I just don't want to get too excited or feel too good about this without some input from you guys. I just looked at the first of the two links again and to me there are so many subtle but very definite changes and the other thing I noticed was Trey and Maryann and their reactions throughout. Am I being delusional?

This is incredible. One of my all time fave songs (see username) lol. She sounds fantastic. Thanks RJJ12.

The metamorphosis of Mimi (61,220) by Lara from Middle East
That should be the new album name. Just look at her performances on the Elusive Chanteuse tour and now. You won't recognize her. Her weight, voice atttitude and confidence are totally different. Let the new album and songs show this change. And yes, less layering, more raw vocals.

Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,219) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
When thinking of this take off the lamb goggles, I noticed that Mariah's material had better staying power across the board, when there where less hands in the cookie jar. Daydream was her last simplistic body of work front to back. Butterfly moved in slightly different direction, granted these where the TM and WA years but nine people to write the music for Honey. Breakdown has three lyric writers because of Bone-Thugs but still two music writers. Then Rainbow happened five writers for Heartbraker, Bliss is a fan favorite IMO because of who was working with her James Harris III, Terry Lewis & James Wright. They did not over power the Mariah sound. After Tonight, X-Girlfriend three writers. Eight for Crybaby. Charmbracelet three to four through out the album. TEOM ten for WBT, yes a #1. Point being that Mariah Carey fairs better when it's just her and one to two producers. John/Jane Public does not know the the inner woven back stories of these records, just that she made one. Frankly let the charts thing stop being a main focus of her work. Yes it is an achievement, she will be forever associated with the 1990s' even if someone brakes her records. "Records are made to be broken." Oprah to Mariah 1999.

Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,218) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
Mariah needs to do a vocal danceable track - plain and simple. Compare the fun and ease of Dreamlover and Fantasy and Heartbreaker to Triumphant, Infinity and even to a degree Obsessed. Her own style of music that she basically created is now coming back and she should capitalise on it and show the world how it is done. I am from the Caribbean and collectively we all love what Rihanna has done, but enough now.

I actually think an upbeat poppy song with a sample and her singing her ass off, a la Dreamlover and Fantasy, would be a hit. Just for the nostalgia.

Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,214) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
I want Mariah to release her next first single that has the magic like Dreamlover, Fantasy or Heartbraker. These three first singles made me jump from my chair. Those are her "I feel good" kind of songs.

Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,212) by Malcolm from Asia
I totally agree, her next single must recapture her vocals and not having to much beats like Infinity. This fan-made version of Triumphant is one of the best example, I love how simple the whole arrangement is and yet the melody is exceptional. If the official single had been released like that, I bet Triumphant might cracked the top 20 on charts. Another one is 100%, the melody and her vocals there always blows me away. More soul mix with R&B and acoustic taste is good for her and of course it must be accompanied with an excellent music video, that is really important. If she will follow the trends (not musically) but in the way music industry works, she can always sit around in the top 20. Gimmicks that the music ultimately will not suffer, I know Adele is doing it right now.

I love "Faded". It's the most listened song on my iTunes. MIAM is one of my all time favourite Mariah albums.

Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,210) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
As evinced by the recent chart toppers, it's getting harder to pinpoint which sound is gonna be a hit these days. Like how do you go from Hello to Work? But like you said, Mariah's next single should be simple. She's really fond of vocal layering, and somehow that has become her trademark, but this time maybe simple harmonies will do. And of course the production should be minimalist. Less is more to highlight her vocals, which should be able to be replicated live, by the way. Sounds familiar? Yeah, we just described We Belong Together, but we're not looking for yet another recreation of that. Lyrically, though, that's the standard. But Mariah, come on, surprise us.

Future releases (61,209) by darrian liu from taiwan
I want to avert from the current topic for a while and thought about what kind of song could get Mariah back on the top of the charts. I'd say maybe a song with minimal production and beats and a straightforward vocal performance with a good melody. What do you guys think?

Re: Meet and Greet (61,202) (61,208) by Licia from USA
I tried so hard to keep quiet on this (many of you already said what needed to be said), but Sofia you totally missed the whole point if why the poster was unhappy with the meet and greet. The whole thing sounded like an unorganized mess. She never demanded anything of Mariah nor did she not appreciate the time that she did get to spend with her. For the money that she paid all she wanted was for the event to have been handled better and there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: Meet and Greet (61,202) (61,205) by Luke from United Kingdom
I don't think that's their point. They paid a lot of money for the meet and greet and it was lacklustre. Mariah wasn't doing that out of the goodness of her heart and I'm sure the amount she makes from those meet and greets will get her another diamond necklace. The tickets should be named a photo with Mariah because you can't meet someone in such a small amount of time. It probably just needs to be arranged better but that might not be in Mariah's control. There could be a time limit on the arena/venue that doesn't give her and her team a lot of time.

Me. I am Mariah (61,203) by R&B Junkie from Poland
I just wanted to show some love for the abovementioned release. So sad it's her worst selling album. In my personal opinion this one is one of MC's best albums. Honestly, the album is body of work and when you listen to it from the first track to the last you enjoy it even more more than the separated album cuts on your daily playlist. My favorite tracks are Dedicated, YDKWTD, #B, Make It Look Good, You're Mine and Faded (lol, that's almost half of the album ). Great lyrics, raw vocals, supreme productions. I love the fact that she used some live instruments during recording this. The violins in You Don't Know What To Do are just heaven-inspired. The most important thing is the message included in Dedicated. Just can't stop loving it.
