New photo (58,949) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter So finally we get the much requested bikini moment. I have seen some article post the new bikini shot Mariah posted and people are swearing up and down that it's an old picture and they are sure about it. Haha haters having a hard time believe that Mariah has actually lost so much weight. At first even I thought Stella is at it again, posting the 2006 famous bikini shots of her in the emerald bikini. But wow Mariah, she looks gorgeous. I am sure most people are thinking of the 2006 photos or 2003 photo (from Lee TS avatar) when they saw this picture and so they think it's old. Others are saying it is edited but come on it's not like she is stick thin in the pictures. She looks the same size she did in the paparazzi shots. So the queen is back. Now I want a music video. You need not sing praises of other singers on a Mariah forum. I have clearly stated my opinion and you fail to understand that and misinterpret it as a fact. If you cannot comprehend that I used the other singers as a point of reference to provide examples then you need to read my posts again until you understand it. You are using emotion and not rational thinking in your statements. I again maintain that Rihanna's 13 number 1 hits is still not a threat to Mariah. I am not revealing my real name or location, but what I can say is that I have inside information as to how a number 1 hit is awarded. It is based on many factors not just the age, sales and airplay only. Knowing this, I am certain that Rihanna won't take over our queen's crown. She may get at least 2 more hits but it becomes very difficult then because of certain factors that are determined by the industry and Billboard. That is why, despite having a good album with MIAM, Mariah was not able to get a number 1 hit. Part of the reason has to do with industry politics and many other factors that ate confidential. Now that Mariah is back with Sony, I am certain that she will get another number 1 hit for reasons that I cannot explain. Employees of Billboard, especially senior management are usually not allowed to show favouitism to any artist or be part of fan clubs so it is difficult to get information from them but trust me, senior management at Billboard knows how the formulae works. Her last world tour is her most successful to date and it is the highest-grossing tour by female artist for 2014. And she is the "Top-Earning Women In Music" for 2015, which our queen placed at #9. I'm saying this just to have a right and equal information about other artists because it's unfair for them and to their followers. Lastly, please stop abasing other artist especially when it's not even true and as I read your message, I think it's too far for being an opinion because you are clearly stating your facts. (58,936) (58,944) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Just to clarify, this is not a post about throwing digs at you Seth, but while you are right about trends and how people vanish after being hot for a second, we can't rule out Adele yet. Mariah is one of the rare celebs who has outlived the success of her contemporaries. Similarly Adele may surprise us and outlive the success of her contemporaries. I am not even a fan of Adele, I mean I don't hate her of course, but I usually don't rush to buy or download Adele songs either but I will admit she is a talented songwriter and singer. As for Rihanna's #1's not being a threat to Mariah, I will have to disagree. It is a big threat. Rihanna's time is not done yet because she is still young. Nowadays every year there is a new "hot artist" who comes in and sweep 2-3 #1's with their album. First came Katy with Prism and took in 2 #1s, then came Miley with Bangerz which took a #1 and #2. Then Ariana (zero #1's still and she is apparently the next Mariah oops). Beyonce with Beyonce. Then of course Taylor and took in 3 #1's, 2 of which were pretty lame songs. Anyways what I am saying is if tomorrow Rihanna drops a highly publicized album which gets popular she can easily scoop 2-3 #1's which will bring her closer to Mariah. She is trying to keep her fans on edge about her new album even though it got delayed, so it can either be a hit or miss. And then another phoned in feature on an Eminem song would get another. In this age and time it's pretty easy to get a #1. So we can't say no one is a threat to Mariah. I will certainly not be happy if someone like Rihanna dethrones her. (Thursday 7 January 2016; 13:08)

Adele in MCA (58,943) by darrian liu from taiwan Tbh I'm happy for Adele for her success and is a fan of her music. I wish nothing but the best for her (see that pun?). But Mariah and Adele are two different artists with different artistries and I will never be threatened by any other artists' success, not even when they break all of our Mimi's records. Because while all those records are awesome, I did not become a full blown lamb because of those. I fell in love with Mariah because of her music, and her voice. She's done a million things to the industry and I'm very, very proud to know that she has broken barriers between genres and revolutionised the pop music landscape, musically and vocally. I love her because she's Mariah [censored] Carey, not because of her having 18 no. 1s, or the longest running number 1 of all time, or any other records she has broken. With or without those amazing records, she will still have her imprint all over the music world. Tbh I'd rather look up to someone who has no #1s but has influenced a generation of musicians after her than having all the 18 no.1 hits but only achieved those through chasing trends and not making a way for other artists. I was just pointing out that lambs need not be concerned about her current success as it is no threat to Mariah. Where is the logic in your statement implying that I feel threatened by Adele? I clearly pointed out that she is no match for Mariah. If you are realistic and look at recent artist trends, you will see that they are hot for a short period of time, they peak and then decline. Some even exit the industry. I did not say that Adele will not last but based on statistics and looking at recent trends, you will see the cycle repeat itself. Katy Perry, Leona Lewis, Ashanti, etc are all examples of this. Katy Perry and Leona are also great songwriters and they have written hit songs during their prime era but they fail to have the longevity and staying power that Mariah has. Based on this trend, it is probable that Adele may experience a similar fate. I am not saying that it will happen for certain, but it is probable. For the record, Rihanna having 13 number 1 hits is no threat to Mariah's 18. I have nothing against Adele and truly respect her catalogue of songs but in my opinion (and this is my opinion as everyone is entitled to) she is a one dimensional singer who the general public will get bored with in time. She lacks the versatility that Mariah has and that is why I am saying that Mariah has set the standard very high with her overall talent. (Thursday 7 January 2016; 3:19)

The difference between Adele and a few of the other artists you mentioned is the fact that she writes her own songs and sings them very well. Of course she's different to Mariah but they come from different worlds and backgrounds. Mariah was practically driven like a workhorse for nearly a whole decade, working like that is going to achieve you great success and records. Adele has worked slower and has built a family inbetween it all. Adele is a wonderful person, a great artist and has achieved success without special effects/twerking/getting naked. Mariah's approach to music and how involved she gets is what makes her amazing, and I'm sure she does more than she is credited for. But I think that comes from music being the only thing she had for a long period of time. Adele hasn't been in that situation but that doesn't make her less of an artist. I'd rather someone like her hit Mariah's records compared to people like Beyonce, Rihanna or Nicki etc. (Wednesday 6 January 2016; 23:33)

If you read my post and understood it clearly, then you would have understood that I was not implying that Adele was trying to be "the next Mariah Carey". I was merely explaining to the lambs that there is no need for anyone to be concerned about her breaking Mariah's record because Mariah has set a high standard that is difficult to reach. I am well aware of 25 and the success that Adele is currently experiencing and that is good for her. My point is that just like the other singers mentioned in my previous post, she too will be "flavour of the year". It is difficult to have longevity and staying power in the industry and Mariah proved that she has both qualities. In all probability, Adele just like other people who were considered "hot" in the past will also fade away. Look at the record that Leona Lewis broke for the fastest download of her song. People thought that she will be the next best thing but now you hear nothing of her. There is no need to tell me about Adele's current success as we are all well aware of it. In my opinion, she is hot now and gaining great publicity but she won't have the longevity that Mariah has. Even a legend like Celine who was very popular in the 90s was not able to dethrone Mariah. Yes, records are to be broken but nobody is close to 18 number 1 hits. (Wednesday 6 January 2016; 22:31)

She (in my humble opinion, anyway) is not trying to be "the next Mariah Carey". I adore music of all kinds. It's a big part of my life, and as such have watched some of her recent concerts and interviews. I like Adele, but I don't go out of my way to follow her or anything. You'd have to be living under a rock, however not to take note of what has occurred with 25. No one is more shocked and surprised than she is. Watch any of her promotional interviews for 25 and you'll hear her admit how blown away she is by the whole massive response to her right now. (In fact, following her taped concert special, she burst into tears because she was so nervous about her first performance in 4 years going well.) I don't think people grasp the tremendous pressure it can be for artists to be public figures. One day someone will probably "break the record" previously held by OSD. Just as Mariah did. I don't think it will be "Hello" but, if/when it does happen, it won't change or diminish any of Mariah's incredible accomplishments. She's already done so much in music in terms of legacy, and another artists success doesn't change anything. (Wednesday 6 January 2016; 20:57)
