Beacon Theatre (57,270)
by Mara from United States

Well I got my tickets, I purchased the Gold VIP package. I am really looking forward to seeing the show again and hope she adds some new classic Christmas songs in there too. I wonder if she will sing the same non Christmas songs too. Would be amazing if she did a meet and greet. How did the lucky few get to do that in Vegas? I am going to gift a ticket to my sister and my 7 year old who was mesmerized by Mariah last year and of course my husband. I picked the 17th since it is a Thursday and since we will be traveling late to drive home, at least it's a Friday and not the middle of the week the next day. I bet she will release some more shows the closer we get. Beacon Theatre is such a beauty in itself, add MC the queen of Christmas and NYC and how festive it is, it makes for such a magical night. Very excited now.

I just peeped that yesterday. Once I put two and two together I knew that Mariah, her love of Mean Girls and Lacey Chabert was no coincidence. I'm so excited for this movie. MC looks like she's taking this directing role very seriously.

I love your list. Now That I Know, The One, Stay The Night, and Meteorite would have been my choices as singles as well. I feel Now That I Know is very underrated and underappreciated. I would also add I've Been Think About You to the list. Excellent post.

Lipsynching Mariah (57,266)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
I don't mind her lipping every now and then, since it helps to preserve her voice. Celine has been lipping for years and if you listen/watch her latest performances of MHWGO at Vegas, you can hear her singing live and belting out those notes like there's no tomorrow. I also strongly recommend her "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" performance, it's truly a spectacle. So, if Mariah needs to lip to keep her voice intact, then lip away. If she can get her voice back to the MCIIY album then I'll be happy. I'll also be curious to hear the audio from her China performances coming up.

This is possibly one of the cutest pictures I have ever seen. The gorgeous mommy, the cute kids and that sunflower garden, come on. Super adorable. I feel like Mariah looks so much better in her natural skin tone. I have no problems with tans but I have seen sometimes (or a lot of times) Mariah goes overboard with the tan and ends up having a harsh "orange-ish" tint to her skin and somehow it's always splotchy. She has such a beautiful skin, she does not need anything artificial. Anyways, Mariah please give us more "Honey" meets ABMB hair moments like the one you did for the Ellen show hotel maid skit. It's one of my favorites and she looks gorgeous with it.

My wishlist for additional singles from each album (57,264)
by The Real Deal from USA
| |
|
|
I wanted to run through my fantasy wishlist of singles that I would've loved to have seen released from each MC album. To prevent myself form going overboard, I have only chosen one form each album. Lol. Here it goes: 1) Mariah Carey - Vanishing 2) Emotions - To Be Around You 3) Music Box - Now That I Know 4) Daydream - Melt Away 5) Butterfly - Babydoll (since "Breakdown" was commissioned as a double single with "My All", otherwise, it would've been my first choice) 6) Rainbow - After Tonight (the unreleased verison with Luis Miguel) 7) Glitter - Lead The Way 8) Charmbracelet - The One 9) The Emancipation Of Mimi - Stay The Night 10) E=MC2 - Migrate 11) Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel - Inseparable 12) Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse - Meteorite (alot of lambs may be suprised that I didn't choose Faded lol)

Magazine interview Lovari mentions Mariah influence (57,263)
by The Real Deal from USA
| |
|
|
Louder Than War Magazine in the UK features an interview this week with US singer Lovari, and he mentions MC's influence for his upcoming album. Here is the link. Currently, where do you see your music going, in what direction? "I'm going to use more of my voice. I want to showcase my vocals more. The industry doesn't have any more vocals, it's very computerized. Even the R&B. I think it's very computerized. I want to bring it back to the early Mariah Carey, the early Whitney Houston."

Exactly. I don't think that Jamaica thing was to do with her (commence "stop blaming MC's problems on other people" comments) but more to do with the Jazz and Blue fest technicians. I'm sure she ad-libbed something along the lines of "I'm never coming back here again" maybe during Touch My Body. I'm sure she wouldn't puposely make a big mess like that lol. I do agree though that she suits Vegas very well and seems comfortable there.

I agree. Mariah should be allowed to lipsync a song or two every now and then. Doing so preserves her voice. I never understood why people act like it isn't and hasn't always been a common practice in the industry. Elvis was probably lipsyncing on The Sullivan Show back in the day. However, her poor attempt at lypsyncing Fantasy at the Jamicia Jazz festival is unforgivable. It was like she was sabatoging herself. Self sabatoging is something I do and it actually made Mariah more endearing to me. If and when she does it she needs to do so with effort and gusto. She knows how to do so convincingly so I can't explain that Fantasy debacle. She lipped portions of her uptempo #1's during her Vegas show but it wasn't noticeable or distracting. I think Vegas is the perfect venue for Mariah. I think I might go to a February show if I can next year.

So fetch (57,257)
by B from USA

Lacey Chabert, the actress who plays Gretchen in Mean Girls is starring in Mariah's A Christmas Melody. You know Mariah was instrumental in Chabert's casting. Another (early) Christmas gift from Mariah. This Christmas is going to be so fetch. Mariah also has her annual seasonal show at the Beacon Theatre, the book, the lipstick, and the reissue of Merry Christmas coming up (out) this year. I'm feeling festive.

I didn't think you were, just saying because it annoys me that people talk about her lipsyncing like she should be superhuman lol. She would have had a different perspective in her 20's when she was young and agile but things change unfortunately and I think Mariah of all people is allowed a little lipsync.

We don't known what limitations her voice has, if any. She also said singing in a lower key would strain her voice. Some of the comments are shady but look at the commenters.

Mariah Christmas show at The Beacon (57,251)
by Anthony Carey from U.K

Well guys, I got my show tickets. Thank God especially as I had already booked my flights and hotel from the UK. The only thing I will say is I am slightly disappointed that I was unable to purchase the VIP tickets as they only accepted customers who reside in USA/Canada. I even telephoned Ticketmaster from the UK and was on for 30 minutes begging and pleading haha. I have managed to book the last 2 shows anyway as I land on December 15th - wouldn't it be good if she added another date for me to go at the end. Enjoy the show guys.

Watch him talk about Mariah on Kelly and Michael here starting from 11:35. Or just watch the whole interview because he's so likable and refreshing. I actually remember him from a small gay indie film before Empire he starred in with M's backup dancer Anthony Burrell - the "Cry." dancer if you will. Good to see him doing so well and hope there are more Mariah moments. I secretly hope Mariah makes nice with Shonda Rhimes over at ABC to get a few guest starring roles, and we know how she's a fan of the shows. Oh dear, I wasn't even thinking of Grey's Anatomy but what if she plays an opera singer who needs to get vocal surgery and everything goes wrong. You never know with the right role she can be up for an Emmy, come on. Make it happen Stella.

I guess Randy's Q was meant in a different way, 90's Mariah on 2015 MC. I think Randy was having more of a deep thinking here. It's like we can all look back on us and be like wish I had done this or hadn't done that but the wish I had (not) is something that really doesn't exists since we cannot change past. What if being in lets say October 1993 for example and some sort of "Christmas ghosts" would show up to MC and let her envision her own self through the years to come and what would that 1993 Mariah would be like on her own self. What would she say, what would she think, what'd she do, what would she avoid doing, what would she think twice before acting/doing/trying/saying something. It'd be a very interesting exercise to do for anyone: try to position yourself on a younger era when you were living the best time of your life (that's why I said Oct 1993 as an example) and then try to analyse everything from that perspective on and keeping it true to your own back then self. Imho she wouldn't be as proud as she says she is of what she's done like must of us wouldn't as well. It'd be pretty surprising how many things you, just like in the movie, would start doing differently and that kind of envision when keeping it true to that starting point can really, even knowing you cannot change what's already been done, help you implementing some changes on your life cause it's never too late to start doing something that is for good.

To you Luke and Marissa. I wasn't trying to be shaddy just making a joke. I love Mariah and I was just thinking that when you are young you feel invincible. I sure Mariah knew she could hit any note see wanted to in her sleep, even when she was awake and sick back in the day she still sounded better than most today. Remember she said herself that she kept pushing her voice and vocals higher and harder to see what she could accomplish, even when her mom and some critics said she should take it easy. But imagine how you will feel seeing yourself very successful in the future but reality hit you that your invincibility that you thought you had now has some limitations.

Mariah is, was, and will always be The Voice. Even with the supposed decline she's still untouchable. Her voice is a gift from God. She's a songbird in human form. I was watching the Oprah interview during the promotional campaign for Butterfly and Mariah said she was medolically driven. She was coining catchphrases even then.

I think she'd congratulate herself for a job well done and tell her herself to go to the Rockefeller tree lighting this year and redeem herself and remind the world why she's earned the right to be a first class diva. Beyone [sic] doesn't compare and sorry Arianna it's never going to happen.

She would probably say something silly like "How she has that hair? I must get her stylist darling." Haha. I thought of this because every time someone shows her a picture of herself from the past she says something about the hair, she wouldn't be Mariah if it wasn't about the hair.
