Remix (56,056) by George Golden from UK Mariah's new remix is just bad. I don't understand why she would think it is any good. The "rent a rapper " formula was created by Mariah and she will not let it go until the rappers start declining to work with her. It's very frustrating for her older fans who know what she is capable of. The numbers ones album could have had another number one song and I don't buy that "the public do not care for her anymore". It's her material that is letting her down. These last seven years have been one disappointed to the next. Great album, poor single choices. Great single, tacky video, etc. She needs a totally new sound. More uptempo rnb and disco infused songs. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 11:43)

From her feet album up until CB, I never had that fan moment where I felt an album was truly made just for me. Her pen game was strong on CB and I felt every word. Rainbow is my second least favorite album. Although there are a few great songs that I like, the majority of the songs I feel she just threw on that album because she just wanted to be done with Columbia. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 11:29)

Almost Home (56,054) by Giovanni from USA Is an okay song. I like the lyrics and how Mariah's voice sounds. Obviously way better than "Infinity. I think the video is silly though and doesn't do the song justice. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 4:20)

Memoirs / B (56,052) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Aah, no B leave Memoirs alone. Haha kidding, you know I love you. But ya I actually really love Memoirs. It's pretty underrated. I mean come on, "Betcha Gonna Know" is a masterpiece. "The Impossible" and "Languishing" are gems. "Angels Cry" is such an amazing song, I love it, especially the version with Ne-Yo. Then "Angels (Prelude)" how can one not love that heavenly piece of art? "H.A.T.E.U", another classic Mariah ballad. "Candy Bling" is such a moody song with the infectious "finger snap" going on and that awesome "back in the day" loop. The lyrics are cute but also not cheesy. I feel like when people think of Memoirs they only remember the "fun songs". But it has some really deep songs too, with great vocals. That being said, I love the "fun songs" on this album too. "Obsessed" is just so catchy and summer-y, and had the line that was probably the first "MC catch phrase" that was adapted by the GP. I think "Ribbon" and "Inseparable" are the cutest songs ever. These would have been hits if they were released because giddy teenagers in love would eat it up. "It's a Wrap" is another song I love, because of the way she sings it. I am neutral towards "MTJF". And despite what people say I still love MC's version of "IWKWLI". Memoirs is easily in my top 3. I don't skip a single song in it. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 3:02)

The remix (56,050) by darrian liu from taiwan I've never listened to it again lol. It really doesn't improve upon the original (it just worsens). Then again, it doesn't mean she is incapable of good music. I think she knows that she's uninspired at the moment (she definitely knows that what she is releasing is sub par to her standards), but with the good publicity surrounding her, her business side is telling to her to capitalize on it. Then her musical side and her business side clashed and ultimately she decided to release the bad remix. Some of you guys said that it gets better with every listen but I did try it and it worsens lol. Really really patchy. Almost Home was one of the songs that got me hooked on Mariah lol. I mean, I saw the headlines about her declining vocals but then I heard the song on the radio (it's pretty big here) and I was like "What was the public thinking? This woman's voice is incredible." And it was an amazing song. Beautiful, simplistic lyrics, booming vocals, nicely produced. It should've been a much bigger hit. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 2:40)

Almost Home (56,049) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter The song is gorgeous. Everything from the music, to the vocals, the production and the video was perfect. Also it had such a haunting sound to it, the chorus gives me shivers even now. The verses are dark and moody and then the chorus just lifts your spirit and lightens everything up. It's hands down one of Mariah's best and underrated songs. I believe the song was wasted on the soundtrack. From what I heard, it was played at the end of the movie when people already start leaving. They didn't give it enough promo. Lana Del Rey's "Once upon a dream" for Maleficent was also used during the ending credits, but the song still got a lot of publicity because it was used in the promos. "Almost Home" could also have been a bigger hit had it been promoted more. I wish it was in one of her albums. I love how the video is so simplistic yet gorgeous. I have no doubt about Mariah's writing ability but I do feel sad that she is releasing half baked products, when really this is the prime time when she should be releasing quality music to shut the haters up. I don't mind rapper heavy songs coming from Mariah, I also don't mind Mariah being hood. I love "Li'l Love" and SIO. What I don't like is how her recent songs sound so unpolished and half done, when really she can come up with such beautiful songs. I don't know if she is feeling uninspired or what but if that's the case she can always take her time and release things when she is inspired instead of releasing songs that are sub par according to her standards and getting slammed for it. Lyrics (56,047) by B from USA Mariah needs to write lyrics like she did during (from) 1990-1997. TEOM, E=MC2, and MIAM had songs with lyrics written in a similar fashion and those songs were the highlights from the perspective albums. She needs to stop with slang words and product placement lyrics. Her lyrics need to mature. Is it me or are her lyrics getting younger the older she gets? I'm not saying she can't write a funny song now and then but not entire albums like Memoirs. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 1:29)

Why You Mad (56,046) by B from USA Why You Mad (Infinity Remix) isn't as bad as Triumphant. Mariah's last great remix was #Beautiful with Jezzy. If a remix isn't as good as or better than her older remixes she shouldn't release it. She's the Queen of the Remix and these subpar remixes aren't doing her any favors. The thing is... (56,043) by Mirage_Nunez from America While I unapologetically still enjoy Infinity, Ive only listened to "Why You Mad?" once. It hasn't quite resignate with me either yet I suppose. Having said that, I also didn't feel this undying urge to bash the song for a week straight along with the people who appreciated it. Nothing's wrong with genuinely not liking the song, and expressing why. The thing is when you make it your business to harp on the negative in every post it becomes very trollish and unnecessary. Especially when we know Mariah still can throw down with a pen and pad (MIAM). No you don't deserve a noble peace prize for "being mad/talking bout you mad" in every post. I work part time, I have several friends, and I still find time to catch up on Mariah Carey news everyday, including weekends. I don't insert myself into discussions very often, which means, my opinions are not biased. I like to have an open mind. I observe regularly the topics on MCArchives on a daily basis. I have noticed lately that Mariah has not been interested musically. I do not think it's a matter of not caring. I believe she has decided to do less music and explore other endeavers, like endorsments, touring, acting, and directing. Mariah is a strong woman and she treats her surroundings as such. You have to ask yourself, if what made her famous is no longer of interest to her, why is she still around? Especially in a time where people treat all legends like a thing of the past. My answer? She cares to build her brand not her music. She can get away with releasing crap because people still care. Ironically Madonna might sell more records but her influence of today's generation is far less. Mariah will be relevent for the next 30-50 years with Beyonces, MCs of hip hop, Taylor Swifts, Katy Perry's, Rihannas, and all of the current pop stars fans will know who Mariah Carey is for the next of decades. The best part of this is she doesn't have to release music. She is the most iconic and most talked about blueprint. She is Mariah Carey. (Saturday 15 August 2015; 0:24)

The schmegacy (56,041) by Andrew from UK Edward, don't apologise in advance of people criticising you. You have a right to an opinion. And silence seems golden. I know I will have people rolling their eyes in a "what a surprise, he's negative" position. But it's not just awful, it's scary awful. It makes Triumphant look triumphant. It doesn't fit with the absolute class her efforts have mostly always been. I wonder, genuinely: how can MC stand on stage and bang out her most successful songs and simultaneously create new music which is anathema to them. As per my much more previous posts, it is self indulgent, amateurish, a smack in the face of what labels want, what the fans want, and what music in general is doing. I'm more convinced than ever that Mariah doesn't care. This is beyond niche. It's inaccessible. And worst for it, Mariah criticises some songs everyone loves. I feel guilty for liking the Fantasy original. Most of my friends love Almost Home. It's a polished song which will last and be remembered. Mad? She must be. But hey ho, Christmas is coming, right? We will soon reach the point where the years of bad equal the years of good. Legacy shmegacy. Where is Mariah Carey? I'm looking, I just can't find her. I definitely can't hear her in this remix. It just disgusts me how much disrespect and flak Mariah gets after working her ass off for 25 years. Rolling Stone in particular. Do you guys remember when they had a poll for the greatest collaboration/duet of all time and the fans voted "One Sweet Day" as the winner? Their response was something along the lines of "This song definitely would not have won had the Mariah Carey fans not flooded the poll. While it hasn't stood the test of time, the fans voted for it. Who are we to say they're wrong?" What the actual fuck? And to think that they placed Mariah at #79 on the greatest singers of all time list. #79. Really? Though I would never trust a list of greatest singers that didn't include Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra. Still, disgusting. And some of the most influential songs of all time like Vision Of Love, Fantasy (Remix), All I Want For Christmas, We Belong Together... none made the 500 greatest songs. When Mariah really cares (56,038) by Edward from USA I was just listening to "Almost Home", and then I switched to "Infinity 4-people crammed mix" just to give it the benefit of the doubt again, but I then felt sad. How could the person who put out "Almost Home", also put out "Infinity" and its respective remix? "Almost Home" wasn't a hit, but nobody could ever say it wasn't well-produced and on point lyrically and vocally. Sometimes I wonder if it's only me that notices the lack of quality and messy production on "Infinity" and "Why You Mad". Am I a hater for not liking something that is evidently a mess and a desperate attempt at creating something decent? Do I have to lie to myself because that's what "real/true" lambs do? Now that things have calmed down a lot with the media criticizing her, I think Mariah should be more serious about anything she releases. This is the time for Mariah to step it up and create quality music. I'd rather she got an Oscar for writing a wonderful song, than another #1 for writing just a popular song. The problem with "Infinity" is not necessarily that the remix has four people in it, "Lil Love" has Mariah, Bow Wow, Bone Thugs and Harmony (each one of the 3 guys has a verse) and JD in it, and to me it is a great song, nothing cheap, messy or desperate about it.
