Would be funny if it's true.

This is ridiculous.

Triumphant - Infinity (56,236) by Lee from UK
I wouldn't class Triumphant in the same messy group as Infinity at all. I mean there are bad Mariah songs and then there are really bad Mariah songs. The Triumphant remixes are amazing tracks to work out and run to. It's a "go get 'em" song with great beats. Every time it comes on just as I'm about to give up and go home but it gives me the extra energy to keep going for that last 5 minutes. Just waiting for the high notes to kick in is amazing and when you feel like you have to jump off the treadmill and call it a day, the high notes are back and it's a real motivator.

Re: Wooden Mariah (56,229) (56,235) by MimiLamb from Germany
True, but it can go wrong as well, I think that is her biggest fear. I thought about that myself for a few years now, but in all honesty it's easier said by us to do it then for her to undergo this surgery. I do believe she considered it but maybe even the doctors told her it would be too big of a risk. Luckily a lot undergo it without a problem, but every surgery is unique and every vocalcord reacts differently or heals different, they just never know beforehand and they can't guarantee her it will be a success.

Re: New album (56,222) (56,234) by Musti from UK
I think we can definitely expect jazz influenced songs on the new album, judging by TGIFY and her performances during the tour. And I would enjoy that very much. I don't expect a complete overhaul of her sound, and nor do I think it is completely necessary since she has already built up her legacy. But she does need an urgent update. I still think electronic music would be a good influence on her. If there is anyone who can combine that genre with R&B, it's Mariah. MIAM is proof that she has matured at lot as an artist, but I think maturity can be found in all genres. I'm sure it would be amazing and I would expect nothing less from her. A little off point, but I've seen some fans discussing previously unreleased songs seeing the light of day. There was no re-release of her debut with rarities for its 25th anniversary. Nothing on #1's To Infinity we haven't already heard either. I doubt we'll be getting any unreleased songs until after she retires. Which is fine, we all need a retirement plan, so long as we get the songs in the end.

Maybe by that she's so big.

That actually would be a cool idea. That way all fans could get the type of song that they want.

Re: Tamia (56,227) (56,231) by Licia from USA
My favorite song is the remake of Black Butterfly. She killed it. I thoroughly enjoy Stuck With Me and Chaise Lounge. Not too fond of Sandwich and A Soda. I'm still trying to get into that one. Can you imagine Mariah remaking Silly, Free, or Gonna Take a Miracle (gosh my age is showing lol)? I've been waiting years to hear Mariah take on a Deneice Williams song or even Minnie Ripperton (although I know that's a predictable move because of the whistle notes). Mariah just needs to go ahead and do an album with cover songs. So Mariah, LA, and Sony we need a covers album and a three disc unreleased material album in that order. Thank you. Lol.

The clothes / Andrew (56,230) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I know this reply is quite late but whatever. I'm all for Mariah exercising her freedom, but I'mma have to agree with Andrew on this one. Even with her residency being a success, her upcoming stint on Empire, and all her other gigs and ventures that could attract positive publicity, let us not forget that now more than ever is the time for her to keep everything together if she ever wants another comeback in the music scene. I've said this countless times before - the current landscape is not just more fickle than it has always been, it's also more brutal than ever. And can we just stop denying that ageism is a thing. Mariah knows this. She just feels like she has earned the right to finally live it up without worrying about the consequences - and she has - but in this day and age, the "eff them" attitude does not always stand, especially when you're over 40. So we may be happy that she's confident in showing off her more voluptuous figure in ensembles that not always flatter her, but sadly, the entire world doesn't think like us. Even those who are much bigger than her size are trolling dem forums comparing her to a cow or a whale thanks to the anonymity the internet grants them. So yes, image may be just one part of the entire package, but in a world where people are either liked or dismissed based on mere appearance, making sure that she looks good (plays MILG) all the time would at least spare her some hate. Every little bit or awareness and effort counts. Is she still with Jenny Craig or was that just a one-time partnership?

Wooden Mariah (56,229) by Stella Lewis from USA
I know her voice has sounded great in Vegas, but during her live performances Mariah seems wooden sometimes. I think it is because she is aware of her voice and its limitations (nodules/damage). She is thinking carefully about that next note and how to hit it. I miss carefree Mariah. I know voice surgery is a huge risk but I wish she would reconsider it. Imagine if she did surgery and it was a success, I think I would cry tears of happiness. To see her 100% confident on the stage, completely owning it. Mary J Blige recently performed with Taylor and she sounded great, with lots of energy.

Tringle (56,228) by 123 from USA
I like Jojo's idea of releasing three songs at the same time. It would be great if Mariah released three quality singles in three different genres: pop, hip/hop r&B, and dance. Releasing Beautiful, Faded, and Meteorite at the same time would have been cool.

I love the whole album. She is very underrated. My favorite song is Stuck With Me.

Re: New album (56,224) (56,226) by B from USA
I want her to write lyrics like Alway Be My Baby, Butterfly, Breakdown, The Roof, Looking In, Outside, My All, and Side Effects. I want smartly written poetic lyrics that everyone can relate to. When she references herself or her personal life in her lyrics it makes the songs hard to relate to. Does anyone else understand what I'm trying to say or agree?

Re: New album (56,221) (56,225) by Giovanni from USA
I couldn't agree more. "Infinity" is just that, a mess. I'm still at a loss for words that she included it with her number ones. I hope that she's really writing with Diane Warren. I want the return of the real hit making Mariah Carey. Not this silly trying to stay young [censored] writing Mimi. Because let's be real, had she released "Infinity" in the 90's, it would have been her first flop song.

Re: New album (56,222) (56,224) by B from USA
Mariah needs to update her signature sound by working with new producers and writers. She doesn’t need to make any drastic changes musically. I think she should embrace Hipster R&B (Miguel and Frank Ocean). I think it would work wonders for her career.

I agree. I love Tamia's new album. It's just spectacular. It would be cool to hear Mariah go in this direction.

Re: New album (56,221) (56,222) by Bill from the UK
That's an interesting direction, but I don't think it's Mariah's sound or what she herself would listen to and enjoy. If she was to change musical direction I would imagine it would be more towards a jazz kind of vibe. The improvised TGIFY at Vegas was a step in that direction, as well as her great rendition of Don't Explain during the Elusive tour. In fact, I would absolutely love to hear her revisit some of her older material in the same style and manner that she did with TGIFY. That is by far and away the highlight of each show in my opinion and she always sounds fantastic and completely nails it every time.

New album (56,221) by Musti from UK
I am disappointed with Why You Mad. I've let it grow on me over the last few days, but I shouldn't feel forced to like this mess simply because it's new material. It made me think she should do an entire album of rap to exhaust her hunger, so that we can hopefully see the last of songs like this and Triumphant. More importantly, why is she even remixing this song? Infinity is long dead and the remix is not a single step up from the original. For the next album, I hope Mariah starts experimenting with electronic music and finds a way to merge that with her sound. By electronic I mean acts like Disclosure, Caribou, Kadebostan, Frivolous, i.e. not the commerial dance crap of David Guetta or Calvin Harris. It can do wonders wonders to her music.

For those who want to hear Mariah says new great music is on the way soon, type Mariah Carey acompanada de sus hijos recibe descubre su estrella el paseo de LA fama on YouTube. I got so excited by the way she said it like, I felt like a reference not to Christmas music, judge by yourself, so happy.

Re: Sam Hunt collabo (56,214) (56,219) by darrian liu from taiwan
Wow I really didn't expect someone to suggest this collab but as I imagined it in my mind, I get so giddy lol. I think it's a really unexpected collab a la Fantasy Bad Boy Remix. It would be mindblowing especially with such a versatile artist like Mariah. If it happens I would be ecstatic.

Tamia (56,218) by 123 from USA
If Mariah wants to create some contemporary r&b songs that aren't chasing trend and complementary to her voice, she should listen to Tamia's new album Love Live. Here are two songs that I love from that album: song 1 and song 2.

Re: New material / Slipping Away (56,183) (56,217) by 123 from USA
Daydream is my favorite album. It would be great if they did a special edition and add Slipping Away and any other unreleased songs from that era. I would also like a special edition of her debut with the demo versions added and any other songs she created at the time.
