Wendy, you were much better off when you didn't speak (55,085)

Everytime Wendy speaks, I hear Mariah in my mind singing "Conversation so painfully weak, you were much better off when you didn't speak." Also, nobody cares when the tears of a clown fall down. Who cares when Wendy cries?

The only thing I didn't understand about the AI situation is why it mattered to Mariah that another female was on the panel. Even when there was a rumor that there was going to be a fourth judge Mariah tried to recruit a male (Lenny Kravitz). I just never got it. The whole situation was stupid and never should have happened anyway.

Beautiful music (55,083)

So there I was driving along listening to MC on my iPod, which plugs into my car stereo. All of a sudden I have to do an emergency stop, and the iPod lead connecting it to the stereo loosened slightly. MC's vocals then disappear and I'm left with just the instrumentals and background vocals to the songs. I'm playing the Daydream album and, my God, it was an experience. There were harmonies and background vocals I never even realised until that moment. UTS, I Am Free, ABMB, Melt Away all have so, so much going on in the background it was unbelievable. And for those songs with no backing vocals, I never noticed how beautiful the music was. The strings in the final chorus of When I Saw You are overwhelming as they crescendo up. I then managed to listen to the Emotions album as well. The backing vocals were astonishing on And You Don't Remember and You're So Cold, and did you know that The Wind has wind softly blowing throughout and not just the beginning and end? Also, the bass and drums didn't come through on the Emotions album, I never knew what a talent David Cole was at the piano until it was brought into the foreground like that. Unfortunately it then went back to normal afterwards but what an experience.

If you grab on, you better hold on (55,082)

That feud wasn't fake. It may have been spun by Fox and AI to boost ratings, but the acrimony was real. Fox just used what the women gave. Publicly I defend Mariah in the feud, but honestly she was dead ass wrong. Yes, Mariah is a legend, the biggest selling this, most #1s that, but if she had a nasty attitude and kept throwing shots at me, I can't promise that I wouldn't cuss her ass out, too. Nicki came back at Mariah, and Mariah couldn't take it. Mariah is passive-aggressive, not outright aggressive, and the quickest way to shut down a passive-aggressive person is to confront them. Mariah was in the wrong, plain and simple. Whitney was confident in herself, Celine is confident in herself, Madonna is up her own ass, Janet is confident in herself. Mariah. The whole thing reminded me of Alexis and Krystal on "Dynasty". Alexis had a slick mouth and could read for filth, Krystle didn't have a slick mouth piece, but she had hands, so when it was time to confront Alexis' smart mouth, Krystle beat her ass in a catfight because Alexis couldn't fight to save her life.

Honestly, some of you guys need to chill on Wendy. She is clearly troubled and using her show as a means to work through her personal issues. It happens to the worst of us. And I'm not just saying that to be shady, I felt I had to clarify as that is usually my natural inclination but she's been spilling her own tea for years: "Friends in my head", "In my mind XYZ", real world earth population ca 7 billion a.k.a. you, me and everyone inside Wendy's dome? Really, she's not that monumentally different from half the current posters on this board. I wouldn't be surprised, if? Let me count the ways; 1. Bitching about Mariah's professional/personal involvement with a successful billionaire who just so happens to have a jigsaw social/family life and friendly exes. Bitter much, bitch? 2. Improvising and acting out drama can be very healing, when it actually involves you and not someone you don't even RT on Twitter. But anyone with 20 minutes to chill could've told her MC and JP met in Aspen 2013 when Dembabies were but a Morsel and a Mouthful. For all we know, JP was St Nick that year (inside joke). I guess Santa grants his own wishes occasionally. 3. A woman who relies, heavily, on trade trix, smoke and mirrors to pull off her look does not have the dressing room big enough to be looking down on a man who is still taller than her even if she wore 5 inch heels and a bouffant wig. Face it: Virgin Mariah is hot commodity no matter what because her best features are found in her.

AI feud: my take (55,079)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
| |
|
|
Was Mariah a little salty/resentful about the way AI swindled her into signing on? Yes ofcourse, who wouldn't be? It's the principal of the matter and she deserved the same curiosity (or more) that they gave J.Lo as being guaranteed as the only female judge. I don't think it's really about her not being able to deal with working with other female artists (another myth), but it's more about her always getting the short end of the stick in this industry (the Grammies snubs, not being recognized as a songwriter/musical genius, the whole mocking of the Glitter/breakdown moment etc). Why can't people ever do right by her is my question? Anywho I do think a small part of her felt that as a friend Nicki should've turned down the AI gig off the mere fact that the producers we're purposely trying it/stirring the pot, but Nicki fell into it. I believe she was a little disappointed in that and also in the fact that the producers where trying to make the show all Nicki, using her as a gimmick (as if Mariah wasn't enough to carry the season) instead of it being all about the contestants. Mariah and Nicki both cracked on each other during the beginning of the show, it was actually funny and entertaining at first. Even Nicki admitted on Jay Leno that at first they were just joking/having fun and then things took a catty turn. Also Nicki admitted on Ellen that prior to she heard the rumors that MC didn't want her there, so she went into defense mode and purposely did things to bother/annoy Mariah. So my take is it started out as them harmlessly joking with each other (possibly mocking the feud), then things took an ugly turn when Nicki starting taking things to heart. I remember the episode when they showed a montage of them not getting along after Nicki kept snapping on Mariah and Mariah said "You need to develop tougher skin, it's just jokes relax, it's not that deep" etc. Now I know we all will always have different opinions/takes on this topic, but mine is I honestly think Mimi was being playful and it went all wrong.

Wendy Williams (55,076)

That woman has a mentality where she thinks that a woman only dates other men just to make her ex jealous. As if it's high school and also she can't seem to wrap her head around the idea that an independent woman may take up projects solely for her own gain (financial or emotional) and not just to show her ex that she is still relevant. I say this because Wendy went on and on about how Mariah should stop cancelling shows and get back on stage (during her Vegas shows) and show Nick how good she is. Why would Mariah need to do anything to show off to Nick? Nick is not dumb enough to think Mariah is going to be jobless and we don't know what his thoughts on James are. Wendy will go on and on about how Nick must be happy that Mariah is occupied elsewhere. Like seriously Wendy why don't you just stick to reporting what's in the headlines instead of spending 10 minutes making up stories in your head. This is why TMZ is better (even though they too trash Mariah sometimes), they just report the story and then done, Wendy will take her sweet time making up elaborate stories and then have the audacity to pass it off like those are solid facts. The woman thinks/daydreams/fantasizes way too much about other people's lives and she is the one with the ticky ticky boom boom. Plus I rolled my eyes at her when she said she can't picture Mariah having sex, like Wendy too much info, we don't need to know that you sit in a dark room trying to conjure up a sex dream about Mariah.

The problem is that Mariah took her anger about being lied to out on Nicki and decided to throw shade, as if Nicki was the one who betrayed her. It was the people behind the scenes' fault, not Nicki's. Nicki wasn't going to put up with the digs and shade so she snapped. Granted, it was tacky the way she went off, but not everyone is going to bow down to Mariah and accept a petty attitude. This was also another confirmation that Mariah can't stand dealing with other females unless they're older than her, a subordinate or a mere feature on a song. It seems strange that Mariah was cool with Nicki when she could leverage her being a hot up-and-coming rapper for a feature on UOMF, but when they got on a level playing field both being on the judge's panel, suddenly she couldn't stand her.

Clearly Jermaine hasn't got anything interesting to tell about himself. I think it's a bit pathetic that he keeps talking about Mariah over and over. I don't think he really is a friend of hers anymore. He better let Mariah do what she wants to do and leave it up to the fans to like it or not. Looks like Mariah is enjoying her (not so) private life and she should. She deserves happiness after all she has been through. I hope James will appear to be be Mr. Right for her.

Baby please, not only did your initial post come across as judgmental, but also the undertone came across as very self righteous. It read as "Mariah's life is ruined because she's such a horrible sinner". I'm sorry, but are you a perfect saint yourself? Did you die for our sins? No shade, but shade. By your logic Eminem (who disses everybody for no reason and makes disturbing songs), should be a bum on the streets, Rihanna (who treats her fans horrible even hit one in the head with a microphone) should be on welfare, and Nicki Minaj's Anaconda (borderline pornographic artwork with graphic lyrics) should've flopped super hard. Dahling basically you're reaching for the stars in some of your accusations. Mariah has never shaded Ariana, I'm so tired of people trying to make that happen. Just because she didn't praise her doesn't mean it was shade. I can agree that it would've been nice to see MC and Nicki bury the hatchet and work together on AI, but just to keep it all the way real, sometimes that's how you have to deal with your enemies just be cordial and keep it moving. After all Nicki did berated her all over social media and even on the show a couple times and never (in all caps) apologized and even said "We're gonna fight again" in their private meeting with the producers, in which Mariah replied "No we're not". So you're right she wants to forgive, but when people make it hard, it becomes more of a process. Even the Bible says "be angry, but sin not". I personally feel Mariah showed a lot of restraint/took the high road (most of the time) in that situation. We don't know if Nick cheated or not, but it was really distasteful what he did on radio and I do believe Mariah put more effort into holding it together than he did. I'm just glad Mariah appears to be picking up the pieces, taking care of her voice, and removing bad energy from her life it seems. "No stress no fights, leaving it all behind" that's all peace.

The devil (55,066)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Are we really going down that path? That feud was fake. Maybe sometimes it went too far but it was definitely fake. Nicki dissed Mariah on twitter during the AI run, which means they were still pretending to hate on each other, MC did talk about Nicki after AI but don't forget she finally came out and said the truth recently. Maybe she was under a contract to keep her mouth shut about the fight until recently? Secondly MC never dissed Ariana, that quote (the Breakfast Club one) was blown out of proportions. For someone who is constantly dubbed as a "has been" and constantly ridiculed in the media while every new girl with somewhat strong pipes are labelled "the next MC", I think Mariah handled the situation real well and gave a general answer. As for the WMA quote, it wasn't directed at Ariana either. She was just starting to take credit for her influence on other singers (which she deserves). Since then she has started to finally acknowledge that she has had a big influence on the sound of the music industry and style of singers. Mariah only has a few diss tracks and it's not like her entire album is full of only diss tracks. I'd say diss tracks is a much healthier option than fighting in real life. Is Mariah eccentric? Yes all geniuses are eccentric if you check out history (note MJ, Walt Disney) but is she being guided by the devil? Haha please I can't even deal with the creativity on this board. No, just no.

"And I was like, why you so obsessed with me?" Yeah, this woman loves to talk about Mariah. She just makes up some random shade to throw at her. Wendy said "I don't picture Mariah being fun in a relationship, like I picture her being child-like to a point of unicorns. It's cute in the beginning, but all of a sudden, a guy wants to be with a woman. And I don't picture Mariah - I don't picture her having sex." Whatever Wendy. Why would you want to picture that anyway? Unless you have a crush on her or something. It's just nonsense. There was a lot more shade than that too. Just trying to get ratings and attention by talking about MC. So lame.

Mariah is looking stunning. She's slowly but surely loosing the weight. She was stilling stunning at her heaviest. She was glowing during her difficult pregnancy with the twins. Mariah wouldn't end a marriage without trying to work it out first. She wouldn't put her kids through what she went through unless she had to. Mariah's children come first. Mariah had always put her career first and her career was her life. Her children are her life now. Mariah didn't promote MIAM because of her imploding marriage and professional issues/creative differences with her label.

How did Mariah start the feud? Nikki started the feud because she was told Mariah was jealous of her and didn't want her at the judge's table. Mariah wasn't jealous of Nikki. She was upset because she was lied to. She was told she would be the only female judge, which is the only reason she agreed to do that "reality" show. I would be upset if I agreed to certain terms and said terms weren't met, wouldn't you be?

B, the feud was not "fake" what so ever. The grudge is real. Mariah continuously threw shade to Nicki even after Idol. Nicki even slammed Mariah on Twitter. Yes the leaked video of them was definitely "orchestrated" but the two truly did not get long on or off cam. Jesus would have loved if Mariah and Nicki forgave each other, motivated and pushed each other to become better judges, harmonized personalities, became a great team, and showed sisterly love on TV, but no she let hate and pride take over. They almost never glanced on each other at the live shows. The devil got Nick and let temptation took over him, ultimately plotting to ruin their union. She also threw some shade on the WMA to Ariana. But I am grateful that she is moving on. I wish her well. Lamb O Chop, there's a difference between judging and telling the truth. I am aware that Mariah is a good person. A beautiful soul, that's been bruised. Sadly. Her action shows she's hurt. She usually get back with her enemies through a diss. This is why I said it's the "devil". Not her. The Lord wants you to really love the unloveable. Maybe Mariah has just been truly hurt before so she has a hard time forgiving people. I know inside she wants to love everybody and I know she prays for her enemies, just sometimes the action doesn't match what she says. But yes, do pray for her. God bless you. I am just happy she is moving on. Prayers work to keep going.

Put the pipe down. Mariah is being tempted by the devil because she had a fake producer orchestrated feud with a rapper and Nick possibly cheated on her? She didn't shade Arianna but she didn't praise her either. She simply said if this is the path she choose I wish her longevity or something like that. J.Lo deserved the shade, she isn't some idiot that was clueless to what Tommy was up to. Packer not rushing to Mariah's side when she almost fell is a stupid reason to question whether or not he's good enough for Mariah. Mariah appears happy and healthy and I'm happy for her. I'm not even going to bother discussing JD.

Mariah influences on All That (55,055)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

I know I and RJ112 have praised this song here before, but I brought it up again because I recently read a review of Carly Rae Jepsen's new outing Emotion (which is fantastic and is what Taylor's 1989 would have sounded if it stayed truer to its 80's influences, was more fun, and was less personal). The reviewer described All That as something that Mariah could have sung back in the day. At first, I though it was quite a weird statement, as I was only reminded of Prince and Janet when I first heard it. However, a few repeated listens later, I found myself sort of agreeing with the reviewer. Although I find the lyrics to be a bit too simple, I feel like the double voice technique that Carly uses in the choruses and her ad libs towards the end somehow sound like something Mariah would do had it been her song. Check it out and see if you hear what I hear.
