Andrew / Eric / Mimi L., could you please? (54,520) by Edward from USA
Andrew, his name is Eric. Obviously he doesn't like your posts, but he's not abusing his power as a dictator to vanquish you just because he doesn't agree with your approach. Had he wanted to ban you from the board, he would've done it a long time ago. Just remember that Eric is also a fan, and even though he rarely posts, he, just like the rest of us, has an opinion, and if there's a person who deserves to vent from time to time after 16 years, that's Eric. So, don't be dramatic and stop asking Eric to block you, he obviously doesn't manage this website like a despot. Many posters here might not like you, but there are many of us who do. So next time you'll ask Eric to block you, I'll have Mimi L. sent you a complimentary package with 5 bottles of Mariah's "Butterfly Pink drink", 3 of "the dresses" she used in the Elusive Chanteuse tour, 3 bottles of her "nail polish" and your very own autograph picture of "Nick Cannon". I hope Eric doesn't block me for writing this message. See you guys in a couple of months.

I never liked the idea of a second number ones album and meaningful rambling (54,519) by Amber C from USA
I never liked the emphasis on the "18 number ones". This actually makes Mariah underrated. because they have captilized on 18, the other singles now seem irrelevant or less important. However when I take an artist like Beyonce, she doesn't have number ones (to this extent), however if she was to be marketed at the diva with 30 smash hits (just as an example), look what happens. The number 18 to the number 30 makes Beyonce's achievements seem like more (or equal). The "18 number one hits" rapport has cheapened Mariah's brand. It holds no significance anymore to say "18 number one hits". in actuality it is remarkable, but it has become so overlooked because it has been oversused. And by capitalzing on 18 number ones it is as if Sony is drawing the line and saying no more. in 100 years Mariah will be known the 18 #1s. But they will never be exposed to Mariah the music maker and legend, she will be known for her voice, but not for her talent, because all her other songs will be overlooked. Sony should have released an album of Mariah's underrated songs or solely new songs. No need to recycle music everybody knows. How does that truly benefit your artist LA?

Lee on no new material (54,518) by Amber C from USA
Mariah's voice should not be in the studio as of now, however Mariah always builds momentum when she stays busy, album-making. I'm eager to see what these new projects amount to. But I don't think the public wants to see any new Mariah music for a while, especially when it has been so poorly executed since Memoirs tbh (not the music but the releases and such). I also believe Mariah is being overworked by Big Jim, and the new label has turned Mariah into a legacy artist, which she isn't. Mariah is not like any of those "legacy" artists. she has been in a league of her own, but LA and Sony are trying to fit her into a box which she doesn't belong in. I wont mind Mariah the actress. Mariah lets make this happen, the music industry is bleak dahling. .

New music / MC in the studio (54,515) by Ardis Logic from Earth
I am glad to hear that MC is working on new music. She is a non stop super woman.

Re: Mimi L / crazy fan video (54,514) by Ardis Logic from Earth
That fan video was crazy. That poor girl could not compose herself. I noticed when you look down further, it says the video is from 2012, when Nick and Mariah were in Paris to renew their wedding vows. Those days are long gone now.

Here's my concern (54,513) by nikki from usa
I wanted MC to go the Indie route. I think LA Reid would try to suck out the rest of her shine than put her star front and center. My fear was more or less confirmed when he pigeon holed her into the women in their 40's club. I think these new re-releases will make their predecessors obsolete and under this new abysmal contract Mariah will be cheated out of her money for them. That may be why she only made 1 new song for this #1's. I also believe these are LA's ideas that simply make business sense based off what MC is currently doing. I don't think her heart is really in it. She's just going through the motions. I don't see these things selling much which will just add more "flop" albums to her rep. What really sucks is Mariah's never been a regular superstar. She can create songs like ordering a pizza in just about any genre. LA told her he needed a big "Mariah" ballad and she came back with WBT. He decided the re-release needed a soft ballad so MC came back with DFAU. He could tell MC what kind of song would be likely to chart and she could create it. She should be making new music soon, she's too young to go the route he's trying to get her into now.

Live vocals (54,512) by 123 from USA
It seems when she stays working and gets scrutinized by the public, she gets better vocally. After the isolated vocals went viral last year Mariah brought it at the Beacon theater performances and got better with each show. Those were the best live vocals that she has had since 05. There were no glorious G5s, but she belted notes I didn't think she could anymore. Fast forward to March with three months without any gigs and we saw her in bad shape vocally (except for a few shining moments), appeared intoxicated, and very sad. Vegas could have been a trainwreck but she knew all eyes were on her and she kept getting better vocally with each gig. I believe she really only works on her vocals or taking care of her voice when she is consistently working. Other than that, she would have no reason to when her personal life is no longer engulfed by her career like the early days.

Andrew (54,511) by darrian liu from taiwan
I appreciate your point. The polishing of her vocal technique should be done behind the scene, but with concerts, it's not so much about the vocals, it's about the confidence. If she takes a long break from singing on stage, when she goes back to it, most likely the nerves will get to her and she'll go back to old habits. Rather, if you train while singing on stage, you'll be adjusted to the stage, so you'll be able to inject healthy, new habits you learned. This is just a theory, but it was kinda based on my experience. Please correct me if you feel I'm wrong.

The atmosphere on the board (54,510) by Alex from England
Dahlings, what has this board become? A good portion of the posts are about calling someone out. One of the reasons I only post here once in a blue moon anymore. Listen, I, as a lamb, have no issue with whatever opinion is expressed. I believe in freedom of speech and I believe that we all have different tastes. One taste that we have in common though is Mariah. But then again, Mariah is a multi-faceted artist and some will prefer 90's Mariah, others post-Sony Mariah. In conclusion, "it's not that deep", as Mariah herself would say. Now the only thing I expect from people is to remain polite. There are enough words to choose from without falling into the trap of cursing or insulting. Last but not least, Mariah is Mariah, no matter how much we'd like for her to "change", "evolve", "do something else", whatever, she will be Mariah and at the end of the day we may only agree or disagree with her, like or dislike her music, enjoy or hate her performances, etc. In my opinion, Mariah has done a great job of maintaining a high-profile status 25 years into her career. Yes, she lipsynchs, no she doesn't release resung remixes as much as she used to, yes her weight fluctuates a lot, etc etc. But Mariah is still a person, someone that has encouraged or inspired us with her music or attitude. Can we all try and remember that for a minute? Once again, all opinions should be welcome from all and by all as long as we remain courteous with each other.

Please no more breaks (54,509) by Marissa from USA
I think these calls for Mariah to take a break and reemerge sound good in theory, but we have to keep in mind that Mariah's 45 years old. Age-wise, she can't afford to keep disappearing and expect people to have the same enthusiasm for her like when she was in her twenties. In the real world, she's relatively young, but in the industry people see that as an age to put you out to pasture. As we could see at the BBMAs when only 40% of the audience even stood up for her out of respect (even after they showed the video of all her accomplishments), the reception to her has gotten a lot more lukewarm and I don't think her releasing her next album at age 47+ is going to help matters. I also think that the more time passes since her last #1 the less people are going to give a damn about her record. Today's generation has a "what have you done for me lately" attitude and is quick to write someone's accomplishments off as irrelevant, so another #1 should be snagged very soon or she should stop making that her main talking point. I believe that Mariah needs to put out stellar music consistently until she retires. Realistically, there's not much more room for error or breaks.

Songs that didn't make MIAM? (54,508) by 123 from USA
Whatever happened to Kick Rocks? Will she use it on a new album or is that impossible now that she is with a new label? What about the R. Kelly collab? We saw a pic of them in the studio in 2012 yet no song on the final tracklist. Didn't Maxwell insinuate that they were might be working together in early 2014, did that ever happen? That would be a awesome collabo btw. What about the ballads she removed from the album back when it was still called TAOLG prior to her getting into an accident and recording three new upbeat songs (Dedicated, Money, etc)? I wonder if she has the ability to put any noteworthy material that she recorded in the last era on a new Sony album. I need answers lol.

New album / can it be a success? (54,507) by 123 from USA
Now is the perfect time to be working on new material. I'm confused as to why everyone is wondering if she is working on a new album when she confirmed it when she sang Hero at the event where Jussie introduced her. 2007 is too late. It would only fail if one of three things doesn't happen, 1. The material is less than what she is capable of (Infinity, Triumphant), it must be MIAM level of quality. 2. Her performances must be good, dare I say, the Beacon Theater good. Bad live vocals or pre-recorded mishaps ala Touch My Body via Good Morning America or bad transitions from live to pre-recorded a la Jamaica performances. 3. Promotion, promotion, promotion. If Sony does anything close to all the heavy promoting they did for Infinity, then we have no worries of a repeat of the Def Jam's silence or the late 90s Sony days. She also has to do intelligent, cohesive interviews like the one she did in that recent magazine article where she talked about everything professional (last album failure, intellectual property being stolen, upcoming projects).

Lee (54,506) by Licia from USA
I agree. I don't mind waiting for new music as long as it's good music (I'm excited for new Janet by the way, she has been missed ). The teasers are only making the fans assume that we will get new music soon and if she doesn't give it to us soon then it will be another MIAM fiasco all over again. I don't want another album where she felt she had to put it out to make it up to us for all the push backs. I got sixteen Mariah cds that will hold me over until she's fully ready to release new material. I too have been wondering how she is going to record a new album, finish out the July Vegas shows and do Christmas shows and do more shows in February. That's alot. I don't think 20 year old Mariah would have been able to handle this.

Yes please (54,505) by Alex from United States
I'm never going to suggest no new music from Mariah. Each time something new comes out I still get the same rush. I think it's a great idea because it will show that MC is serious about her career and has any undeniable work ethic. Back to back albums, the Christmas shows, and the February residency, Mariah is not going anywhere. Mimi is still elusive enough that she's not selfie whoring about everywhere. I would love for a couple singles to come out with all promotion in place. Couple hot tracks to get us through the end of the year and hopefully Mariah using February's residency to promote the new album. Mariah is ageless but it's smart to capitalize on your youth in this ageist society we live in. I would be ecstatic for new songs and remixes. If the general public takes to it than that's great and maybe we can push a number one out. All things are possible darlings.

No new material needed (54,504) by Lee TS from USA
At least not right now. It wouldn't make sense and I don't see it succeeding. I'm sure she's always working on new music but right now she can't afford another failure. She would be made fun of and be called a washed up has been relentlessly. I think maybe she should wait until summer or late 2017 for a new LP release. She needs to teach the lambs a lesson for letting everything flop, lol no jk. But we need to miss her for a little bit and have the public forget her for a minute. Look at Janet building anticipation for her return. For now work on the shows, the Christmas movie, and fashion projects. Not too much stressful situations.

"Heavenly (No ways tired/Can't Give up now)" (54,501) by Badr from USA
As virtually all Mariah gospel songs, I really like(d) this song so much. I think her voice sounds awesome. However, last week, while traveling, I listened to the song without any distraction. For some reason, I hadn't paid attention to a particular element of this song. Too bad I realized there's a guy saying "yeah, baby" every five seconds. This nonsense totally ruined the song for me. It kind of reminded me of those unnecessary JD parts in almost every song in E=MC2.

Licia / B (54,500) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Licia, haha I will also go crazy if that happens. I really really hope that if this is about a new song or album, they should not rush release it and be a scattered mess like the last few of her singles. This needs to be organized and they should announce it when they have everything ready. B, that is an exciting thought and I visited the store when I went to Paris and more than being excited about it being the flagship store of the iconic LV, I was over the moon that I was standing in a place where Mariah was.

The Erik exorcism (54,499) by Andrew from UK
I believed your name was Erik, through previous posts. If that's not correct then correct me. If you don't want me here then block me. To be unwelcome by a moderator no less of a board is enough in itself to make me leave. And Mimi L, as much hatred as I'm seen as having for Mariah, I love "lambs" with the reason and constraint as you have. In person I think we'd have fun. Although that's perhaps a leap. Don't let naysayers silence you. We love in different ways. But I wouldn't exist if I didn't have other love feed off. I wish you well. I wish you all well. Unicorns and all. Okay, maybe not the unicorns.

Mariah meeting with those designers and Big Jim's tweets are exciting. I hope she's filming a video similar to the Say Somethin' video that was filmed in and around the Louis Vuitton flagship store on the Champs-Élysées.

Mimi L. / Big Jim Wright (54,497) by Licia from USA
At this point I'd rather they not tease us with any info because I'm going to be extra ticked off if it's not what we want it to be (if it turns out to be a remix of a remix of AIWFCIY I'll go loony lol). If it truly is new music then just surprise me when it is ready. Lol.

Big Jim Wright (54,496) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Being a major tease. Continuously posting pictures in the studio tagging or hash-tagging Mariah. Taking opinions from the fans about what collaborations Mariah should do. What are you doing Jimmy? Is there an album in the works or nah? Mariah seems to be doing a few secret projects. Plus she is mingling it up with designers from Balmain, Alaia and Herve Leger and hanging out with Jean Paul Goude. Spill the beans this instant.
