Infinity will be a sleeper hit. Mark my words. The teasers have been amazing and Mariah looks half her age and classy. The video is playing up Mariah's image. This is the type of video Infinity deserved and I was in the audience the night Mariah and Brett Ratner filmed three takes of Mariah lipping which she said was so bleak and asking us to sing along and get into it, lol. A dream come true. Another dream come true is getting to hear Trey aka Big Nasty sing. He even blew my twin brother way, lol.

Thanks for sharing that. I hadn't seen it but how amazing is she singing? I actually think she is sounding better than she did in '05. I can't wait for her to make new music.

She is behind just Elvis Presley and the Beatles for US Number 1s? Really? Maybe the author of this article should do a little research. I don't believe that they dated. I think he wanted to be more than just friends and that ended their professional relationship.

Damizza / tip-toes (53,740)
by Luke from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
"I don't think anyone knows as much about what's right for me as I do." - Mariah Carey. If she doesn't want to be surrounded by people and wants to be alone that's her choice. It doesn't mean it's wrong and clearly that strategy is working for her. I don't see her in a coffin after a drug overdose. The celebrity world must be a scary, dark and corrosive place and if doing all of those things and living in a bubble helps her deal with it then that is none of his or anyones business. He just needs to join the queue of desperate, obssessed ex's. It's been over 10 years and he's still got issues? Something is wrong if your still hung up over someone after so long. On a side note, I walk on my tip-toes as well, and always have done since I was a child lol. I'm suprised that she does this as well. My parents used to try to get me to stop it because they worried it might cause issues with me walking but gave up after a while haha. Anyone know what it might mean?

The slot between July and February is considerably long. What do you think she will be doing during her break? It's confirmed that she will return to the Beacon Theater in December and the Christmas film project seems to be in progress. Another album maybe?

Damizza/ Thank God I Found You (53,738)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I've said it before, so I will say it again. Whilst everybody in the world was (and some still are) convinced Thirsty is about Nick, I always thought it was about Damizza. He changed his name, he was forever @-ing her on IG and Twitter, and uploading old pictures of the pair of them and doing interviews name dropping her all the time to try and reignite his career. He even thought so himself lol. I don't know what sort of relationship they had or how deep they got into things, but I always found it odd that Pure Imagination never made it onto The Remixes album. After knowing of their fall out, it then made perfect sense why she wouldn't want to highlight their work together or indeed give him any royalties lol. It's a real shame because all their collaborations were top shelf. LC, thank you for posting that TGIFY performance. I agree it is a great rendition, and I actually think this and the tracks from the debut have been the best performed songs during the residency. I'm glad she changed the song up and gave a whole new take on it. It kind of makes me wish she'd do a whole album of her songs re-imagined in this kind of free, jazzy, spontaneous manner. Love it.

How much was Damizza paid? (53,737)
by HeatSeek from
| |
|
|
The term for Damizza is a snitch. How much was he paid for his snitching to The Mail. No one has heard from this guy for a few years, and he is dug up out of nowhere to talk about some stuff from years gone by (maybe a pissed off dropped publicist is running a smear campaign). This interview blew any integrity (if he had any to begin with) he had. Quite honestly, would anyone be paying attention or want to listen to anything that he has to say if Mariah's name wasn't attached to it? It's pretty pitiful, and quite funny really, because Mariah's enemies are really looking desperate at this point.

Damizza / Michael Jackson with Mariah (53,736)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Damizza is so delusional at this point. Although he didn't say anything that would paint MC in a bad light, if he really was a good friend, he would have just kept his mouth shut. I hope people notice the good things in the article though about how Mariah did not put in the crazy "don't look at her, don't talk to her" clause in the contract. Anyways, Damizza can go to hell, I don't care. What I find interesting in the article is Michael Jackson kept coming and talking to Mariah between performances. How amazing would it have been if they actually dated. They'd be the music power couple. The King of Pop and the Queen of Billboard. Come on. Plus them collaborating on a song, I could just die. They don't even have a proper picture together darn it. The only ones are from the stage.

Promos (53,735)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Since the Sunday show is the last show of the first leg of the residency, I hope Mariah does some promo work for the new single and album. Every time she appears on TV, the song and the album starts climbing the charts so it definitely has potential. I do want her to get some family time, but just saying, that she'll be free for a month so maybe she can squeeze in some promotions. And Mariah get that damn video out already. I need it, need it, need it.

"Mariah Carey with Damizza (second left) and Al Gore (centre). Mariah initially approached Damizza in 1997, wanting him to help her with her fading career." Are they out of their effing minds? In what universe was Mariah Carey's career considered to be "fading" in 1997?

Thank God I Found You (53,733)
by LC from USA
| |

Have you guys seen this? It's the full performance of Thank God I Found You from May 20th, and literally, it is Mariah's best vocal performance in a very long time. Her agility with her runs is returning, and what is so impressive is that the metallic tone she's had for such a long time while belting is gone. She literally sounds like her Music Box-Charmbracelet tour self, with the buttery, irresistible tone that we all fell in love with. I am so impressed with Mariah. I love this woman. This video proves that we should never ever doubt her vocal ability. Ever. Bravo, MC.

Mariah and Damizza (53,732)
by NYHotShotta from USA

Someone posted an article about producer Damizza and his love affair with Mariah. Many of the lambs know Damizza. If you don't, he's the on that produced some of Mariah's songs like I Still Believe/Pure Imagination, Crybaby, If We, etc. Here he claims he had a relationship with Mariah. Some of the things he said about her being lonely and never having real interactions with people are kinda sad. But idk if I believe they were intimate who knows.

Here we go. Another Nate, another Walter. He calls himself a gentleman, says he'd never kiss and tell and that he truly loves Mariah, whilst also stating that she doesn't have people she can trust in her life. Ironically, he then goes and sells his story to the media because he's desperate for some relevancy. I couldn't possibly think of any reason why Mariah has a hard time trusting people. Look at all these "friends" she has around her. If he was really her friend, he'd have said all this in private to her. Instead, he just did what he accused everyone else around her of doing. I feel sorry for her in that regard. It's hard enough to find decent friends, let alone when you're a celebrity.

Promotion (53,729)
by Stacey from USA

I thought Mariah had a good week. Her performances got better and better. She did well to mix her live and pre-recorded vocals to the point that the "average Joe" couldn't tell the difference. More importantly than her singing was her interviews. I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating. It doesn't take much to get the general public/media off on MC and how silly she can be sometimes, rambling off in tangents, etc. During both appearances on Kimmel and Live she was candid, funny, articulate, answering the questions she was asked, not rambling off on some irrelevant subject. I'm also glad she didn't get asked about the divorce, etc. Maybe at a future time when the dust has settled, she can talk about it. My only gripe about the promo week was where is the freakin' video? Honestly, during the week it should have been announced the video would debut lets' say on Friday. She could talk about it with each appearance building anticipation, thus driving up downloads when it hits. *sigh* C'mon Sony, get it together. Anywho, it was a good week for MC.

Valentines Day 2016 (53,728)
by MeIAmMarie from USA

How exciting that Mariah is planning for a couple to get married on stage at her Valentines Day concert in 2016. I would love to be that person. Anyways so I see people are posting their top three fave #1s, my fave #1s are definitely: 1. We Belong Together - Mariah's best song ever reminds me of my ex who died in 2005 and my current bf and it was my ringtone. I need more songs like this. 2. My All - Such a sexy song. I'm so blessed I got to see Mariah perform this live in NYC in 2013. The video is classic, her body is just surreal. 3. Touch My Body - Such a fun sexy song and video. Mariah was flawless in the video. I was 4/5 months pregnant when it came out. Reminds me of one of the best times in my life. Choosing just three was hard.

by Otti from Belgium

Let's be thankful, after all the storm, a rainbow will appear. Since Mariah is back with L.A. Reid, everything is going well. The promo for the album is great, singing the first number one "Vision of love" and the last single "Infinity". I think it's a great idea. I really love the interviews she is giving lately. She is more comfortable and open. This album is a big welcome, to put Mariah back on the map. Once again, L.A. Reid knows how to promote MC, and make her drama free. This "number ones" album will clean the way for a huge comeback. I also love how she sounds lately. Especially her lower register. She's back were she was during "#Beautiful". With her "vision of love" there is so much more to come.

More talk show talk (53,725)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
Does anyone know if Mariah has plans to continue on the talk show circuit? What other shows would you like to see Mariah interview and perform on? (Talks shows, entertainment news shows, late night talk show, etc.) My list is: 1. Jimmy Fallon: They've always had a great vibe and done amazing interviews together consistently. 2. The View: I was sad Mariah didn't pay tribe to Barbara Walters during her final week on the show. I feel like her and Whoopi don't have a close relationship, but I'd love to see her interact with Rosie Perez and talk about their love of boxing. 3. Wendy Williams: Because these two women clearly have a very layered and complicated relationship and Mariah hasn't done her TV show, despite doing her radio show at least three times.

Talk show circuit and Billboards experience (53,724)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
I've missed Mariah on the talk show circuit and red carpets. She gives such fun and confident interviews when she's in "talk show mode". I've loved seeing her on Ellen, Kimmel, and Kelly & Michael. My favourite interview was by far Kimmel and my fave look was Kelly & Michael. The pink dress was fire. I attended the Billboard Awards red carpet, and people gasped and were stunned when Mariah stepped out of her car, all eyes and cameras were immediately on her. The reception was fantastic, so much love and respect for her from the crowed. It was an unforgettable experience watching all the stars on the Billboard red carpet, and then attending Mariah's concert that night. I'll never forget the rush of that day. I was particularly star struck by MC, Britney, Iggy Azealea, Kylie Jenner, Wiz Khalifa, Fifth Harmony, Taylor Swift and Nick Jonas.

Better start than before (53,723)
by jaker20 from US

I agree with Randy, these last performances isn't her best vocals, but I am definitely confident she will endear fans and casual viewers by at least singing live. Some parts are still not live, but better than the last couple of years. If she has to change some of the notes and chords that is alright, than lipping them all. The best part of these performances is singing VOL 100% live at the beginning of Infinity. It reminds everyone that the voice is still there.

Baby / Pinoys and karaoke (53,721)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
This response may be a bit late, but here it goes. Videoke/karaoke is a huge part of Filipino culture. You can't go anywhere in our country without seeing someone with a mic belting out an old pop hit. Filipinos have a wider, more considerate appreciation for singing talent. Where in most places, there is a strong need for individuality, we don't care so much for it here. It can be a bad thing, to a point where the general public would just applaud anyone who can hit high notes or belt out regardless of pleasantness of tone. We're usually only critical of those who go out of tune or mispronounce lyrics. So yeah, I guess one could say we have a slightly warped perception of singing talent, haha. Only several of our artists have a really distinguishable vocal, the others are practically interchangeable. Just like other Asian countries such as Japan, we feed on western pop culture and try to adopt it as much as possible. That's why cover versions are so popular in the Philippines, so much so that anyone with a decent enough voice can practically build a career around doing so, and every romcom or even drama flick here these days is titled after popular (mostly 80's and 90's) hit songs or a phrase from their lyrics. There isn't much demand for originality in our country in terms of artistic material, as people are content with what's familiar. Even the performance styles of most of our singers are very much influenced by foreign ones. I can think of 3 who are most influenced by Mariah (check them out as they're quite good) - Nina (whistles), Kyla (breathiness), and Regine Velasquez (belting). So overall, I'm good with how we Pinoys perceive music. Our openness makes us more forgiving and supportive as fans (a trait we share with most Asians), which is even why the most obscure foreign artists keep coming back to Asia, because with our loyalty, they're assured of fans for life. I'm glad that even if Mariah seems to be struggling in her homeland and most of the world, she is pretty much guaranteed to chart here in the Orient.
