James Packer (54,754) by B from USA
I'm happy if she's happy.

Lee TS (54,752) by Luis from Spain
They are divorced since March. Mariah confirmed so in an interview last May and if you check Nick's IMDB it says that their marriage ended on March 19th. I feel happy for her. The new man is her age, good-looking and richer than her. Good move, Mariah.

About Walter (54,750) by Lee TS from USA
Walter and Mariah had something magical and their work will live on, they shared one moment in time and it'll always be nostalgia for the both of them. What I do appreciate from Walter when he shares his stories about Mariah, he always brings out the musician out of her. Sometimes I forget that's the core of who she is, not just some singer or big 'ol diva but a true musician who writes her own songs and has an ear for sound. And it's not like he's just singing her random praises, but that is how he recalls his time and experience with her. Like when JD talks about Mariah, I don't get that from him, he tends to take more credit or doesn't really talk about her genius. I liked when Miguel said Mariah was very "smart" in her music, or the Westlife boys saying she actually pushes the buttons in the studio, and when Marc Shaiman describes her as "music" in human form. I also say yay to a new Babyface collaboration even though he tried to emulate Mariah through Ariana on her debut, or Missy who I believe still has a lot of music in her, and maybe even a new Carol King song.

Honey B Fly live pass (54,749) by Anthony Carey from U.K
Hi guys. I have not posted for a little while but I had a amazing time in Las Vegas seeing Mariah. I was fortunate enough to hold her hand as she walked into the crowd singing ABMB. I held her hand and kissed her hand graciously. What a dream. The reason for my posting is I wanted to ensure my access on Honey B. Fly displays the live pass however when I click on "get the Honey B. Fly live pass" link in the box it takes me to my registration page. If any fellow lambs can help as I want to make sure I'm all set to go the minute the tickets for the Christmas shows are announced. Please feel free to email me on newyorkfun247@btinternet.com with advice or generally any lamb chat

New loves (54,748) by Lee TS from USA
It's so interesting to see the contrast in how both Mariah and Nick debut their new loves. I think this is the first time for both to confirm new relationships with the public hand holding. Mariah does it ever so glamorously in Capri while Nick is on a high school first date. They're both hitting it where it hurts with Mariah being wooed by a billionaire and Nick charming a young woman. But alas I hope they both find happiness and can be great at coparens to Dembabies.

James Packer (54,747) by Elena from The Netherlands
Remember when Nick said it The Breakfast Club interview that MC said that if he would ever cheat she would find a billionaire like this (finger snap). Well played Mariah, well played.

The July Vegas shows (54,746) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
It would be cool if she did something different for this set of shows such as:
- performing the songs in reverse (from 18 to 1)
- performing in order from her personal favs to least favs or vice versa
- letting the people in the audience that night select the order

Best narrative songs (54,745) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
She excels at these types of songs, but rarely does them. They even sound similar musically. They'd make a hell of a medley and the videos for them (if threy have them) are her best:
1.The Roof
2. Lullaby
3. Candy Bling (people sleep on this song, but it is the best thing on MOAIA, the title looks silly on paper but makes sense when you hear the song)
These above 3 go together.
4. Twister
Crybaby, Breakdown, Circles, The Wind, Underneath The Stars, Fourth Of July

this_is_qhm / Mariah and Babyface (54,741) by 123 from USA
I loved your post with the idea of them working together again. That is one producer from the 90s that I would love for her to work with again. Melt Away is like, in my top favorite song of hers. They should get together to really show the new school how its done. Plus, they never got a chance to create a hit together and make it a single. Whitney with Exhale, Madonna with Take A Bow, it would only be fitting for them to have a song they constructed together be a hit. Just for the nostalgia. Heck, they can even call the song Nostalgia.

Stacey challange (54,740) by 123 from USA
Every single person posted awesome lists. I liked scrolling through and reading them all, especially when I ran into a song I didn't think about or forgot about. It would make me stop and reflect on the song. Love the current mood of the board overall. I especially like it when folks document their reasons, it helps me look at the song through their vantage point. Shout out to Stacey for the idea and your list. Warrior Butterfly, your list if probably my favorite so far.

Lost in the woods (54,739) by Andrew from UK
A little off topic perhaps but when I was a teenager I used to drive home from work at night (with detour) and listen to:
5. Looking In
4. Petals
3. Close My Eyes
2. Everything Fades Away
1. Till The End Of Time
In that order. Was haunting. And angsty in a Dawson's Creek kinda way. And I have the forehead to match. I think Mariah always did something special with magical, spirit-of-youth sentiments, both lyrically and musically. It's what made her special and stand out, as the other two in the vocal trinity could never have pulled it off. I'm talking Underneath The Stars, Fourth of July, All I've Ever Wanted, Rainbow (Interlude). Every time I watched the video to, and heard, Spice Girls' Viva Forever I felt they'd ripped off a part of Mariah's nineties innocence-lost-in-the-woods vibe. So all of these songs that lifted me and others away to this, even The Roof did it (innocence-lost-in-the-city), are the ones I hold most dear. No other vocalist or singer-songwriter did it. And I used to force people to listen to them to show them it wasn't always about acrobatics. Girl had soul and carried people away to other worlds. Now it's all "tea" "outside the kitchen window". Still have no idea what it means. And not sure care when I can hear "orange clouds roll by" and "thunder precedes the sunlight". Awesome sounds.

Packer (54,738) by Lee TS from USA
So does this mean the divorce is finalized? Because according to some people it's not appropriate to date if she's still married. That would be disrespectful to Nick. Anyway, I'm glad she's looking to be having fun and being wooed with some love and affection. The guy seems appropriate in age and bankroll, just saying. Of course she would be pictured on a date in Italy, very diva dahling, very diva haha.

Stacey challenge - songwriting (54,736) by 123 from USA
The Roof - Her most poetic song. Dark, moody, nostalgic, haunting, and both lyrically impressive and expressive. Her best hidden gem.
Underneath The Stars - The first Mariah song where I could instantly visualize the visual for this song. I wished she filmed an actual video somewhere underneath the stars. The remix was real nice too. Often forgotten about.
You Had Your Chance - Watch a lyric video and you will see Mariah’s a true wordsmith putting words together by bending them (chorus).
WBT - Her crown jewel’s lyrical brilliance gets overlooked because of its massive success. That second verse is so poetic and the chorus is cleverly constructed without sounding cliché.
Languishing - Such a well written interlude that pulls at the heartstrings. It deserves to be a full song.

Stacey challange - vocals (54,735) by 123 from USA
In no particular order
1. Vanishing (live at SNL) - She really let loose on this one and the transition from chest to whistle is out of this world.
2. If Its Over (live at SNL / Grammy performance) - The soulful growls in the beginning of the SNL version and the perfect ending on the Grammy performance makes her live versions superior to the album version. Co-written by Carol King, shows a legend took notice of her early in her career and rushed to work with her.
3. Anytime You Need a Friend Morales mix - I just love those ending belts, the complete vocal on this song is so soulful and the gospel backgrounds give it that church feel. The scatting is out of this world, amazing. We need more scatting moments Mariah.
4. Jesus Oh What a Wonderful Child - This was probably the biggest time Mariah vocally took me for a loop, sounding like a downright gospel singer and breaking it down at the end. I could listen to that forever.
5. Outside - The outro is so out of this world. The emotion, the pain, the desperateness of the vocal. Listen to the vocal performance after the bridge on that song and tell me you didn’t feel it and I’ll call you a liar.
This was really hard and there are still a couple more I want to add. Nice topic Stacey.

How about those Packers? (54,734) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
So, according to TMZ Mariah's new boyfriend is billionaire James Packer, wingmanned by Brett Rather no less. Well, I hope she does her research this go around but I'm really glad she is already dating and not wasting her best years languishing. I want her to allow more than one suitor before she settles on one guy though. I hope whomever she falls for is a genuinely good guy above anything, honest and trustworthy and emotionally mature enough for real love. God bless.

Best vocals (54,731) by Manny from U.S.
1. If it's over (SNL) - Wow, her husky tone and the growls.
2. Vision of Love (Arsenio Hall, wearing red dress) - She performed this song twice at this show. I kept repeating this one when I discovered last year. It blew my mind.
3. Anytime You Need a Friend (C&C remix) - Like Norman said, those scats.
4. Without you - It's a very emotional performance. Her rendition makes me cry. She sings like she feels every note of the song.
5. Infinity (Kelly and Michael) - The performance was spot on and the high notes at the end are angelic. I don't think I've heard that high tone from her.
By the way, I love her remixes, regular and club. I listen to the club remixes at the gym. The one that gets me going the most is the Honey club remix. I like how she uses different vocal techniques. Her vocals sound so lively and are rich. I feel like I'm at a gay club and having the time of my life.

Mariah, a piano and the divine spirit, I'm saying, why go over the Brooklyn bridge for water? (54,730) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
1. Vanishing
2. Underneath The Stars
3. Melt Away
4. It's A Wrap
Why are there only 4 songs released in Mariah's prolific 25 year discography where she is credited the sole writer or producer? We know she now regrets giving some collaborators credit as songwriters when she really wrote the vast majority of the melody, lyrics and basic songstructure. I'm a huge MJ fan and so I've heard his demos for songs like Billion Jean [sic] that he recorded on tapes and just by beatboxing and singing he would lay out an entire song acapella. That's how come he is credited as sole songwriter and only shares production credits with Quincy. No one can tell me Mariah isn't on par with MJ who also wasn't a trained piano player and didn't read music. So, why was/is still Mariah made to share writing credit as a rule rather than as the exception? Diane Warren is another songwriter who still uses cassette tapes to demo her song ideas and then let's an in-house employee tweak and polish them. I wish Mariah would finally get it through her head that she doesn't have to give credit every single time someone adds a note. That's what remixers are for. Write the songs on your own, like MJ or Diane Warren, register it as is. Get an in-house demo producer whose sole purpose is to tune and tweak your songs like Peter Saarsgard does for RealSongs. If you end up using his/hers musical ideas/input and feel generous then credit them as producer, like on Dreamlover. You owe it to yourself MC. Truth.

Top vocal moments (54,729) by enwar00 from usa
Awesome topic Stacey. And I'm loving the vibe of the board this week. Who knew lists could make the difference? These are what come to mind.
*Without You. I will never forget the first time I heard this song, listening to the Music Box album at night the day it came out. I had never heard anything like it, those vocals on the first chorus. I couldn't believe my ears. It was as if it was otherworldly. I probably cried.
*O Holy Night. Someone said God must have been in the room while she recorded this. What a fantastic and spot on description, I agree. So moving.
*Butterfly. So pretty and vulnerable. Such a unique melody. I wish I could hear it for the first time again. One of a kind. Not even Mariah can replicate this anymore.
*Emotions. Such a showcase. Such power. This is a vocal performance.
*Lead The Way. Absolutely stunning. There's something about those verses, they pierce right through me, I just can't even sometimes. So emotional. I think I cry every other time I hear this song. And that's before her crazy runs and vocals towards the end of the song.
*O little Town of Bethlehem/Little Drummer Boy. There's something magical about the MCIIY album, I believe because of the pregnancy and all the love flowing through her at the time, and I especially feel it come through this song.
