Tamia Stuck With Me / new album suggestion (54,165)

Mariah, I need you to listen to this song asap. It's the kind of direction you should go in. It's contemporary R&B without the risk of sounding dated in a few years. Great lyrics, melody, production, and vocals. The vocals can be strong without having to go into unrealistic heights. I need a song like this on the new album. Tell me what you think?

I find it truly disturbing that Morgan is selling out his sister. Very disappointing. I don't like any of what he said and I'll leave it at that.

On a not so serious note, I absolutely loved the buzzfeed questions and one particular answer she gave. I'll quote: 5. Is there an artist that you'd like to collaborate with whom you haven't worked with yet? "I want to collaborate with me 'cause I've done so many collaborations that after a certain point unless you're really working with a certain caliber of an artist, there's no point to collaborate. It just becomes, 'Oh, let's throw these two people together', and that's what I feel is wrong with some of the collaborations that happen today and, dare I say, I helped paved the way for some of these little collaborations that happened today." Finally she is stating the obvious and claiming some credit where it is damn well deserved. Looking at you Katy P, Taylor etc.

Morgan (54,160)

I read the quotes supposedly from him and as a fan that feels more like a long lost sister of MC, I am concerned. I know everyone says it's a tabloid and what not, but what if, just what if he went all the other routes and got absolutely no place reaching his sister. I know it's wrong but maybe it is tough love? I don't know, maybe not. But we do know she likes her splashes, they even make their presence in the new video. Maybe it's all nothing, I like a splash or two myself and I can't imagine if I lived in the public eye and it was documented every time I did indulge. But I do agree that it is time for Mariah to do a serious tell all type of interview with either Oprah or Diane or bring Barbara back for it. I feel it is imperative for her to do this at this stage. The public has so many misconceptions on Mariah Carey and only know and perceive her as a looney demanding over the top diva. I hate that people don't get that she plays it up, but I feel she needs to remove the gloves, show the world another side and do some damage control. Sometimes even though we don't want, we have to go where we don't want to, if that makes any sense. She is a public figure and people are making assumptions of their own and now her children come into play. I hope if she does not do a tell all interview, that the rumors about a behind the scenes documentary are true at least, and show her in a different light. People need to see another side to Mariah. MC's a very deep soul who most of the time hides behind this diva act. I wish people knew the other side we all know as her closest fans. Even with the behind the scenes rants and whatnot on her #1's she makes them mostly about her image and looks while filmed, instead of the song and the impact it made or the process of writing it. I guess that is the reason for the rants or whatever. I just feel as fans of her, we want to protect her legacy and her as a person. Does anyone know if Patricia has been to Vegas at all? It seems like while Mariah was with Nick, she was closer to his mom than her own. I feel there is a lot about Mariah she keeps very private and rightfully so, but as fans we can be concerned. We are her family. Sorry for the rant, just want Mariah the person, to be alright.

Forever (54,157)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to say that "Forever" is "yawn" just blows my mind. I love that song. It's beautiful. It's an instant classic. One day after we are all long gone someone is probably going to do a cover of that song and get a #1 hit.

My top 3 least favorite songs by MC (54,156)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
| |
|
|
*H.A.T.E.U. - I know that MC says this is an acronym that stands for having a typical emotional upset. However, this has to be the "most negative song" Mariah has ever written. Hating someone is very damaging to one's self. It's best to just forgive that person and yourself, and release it with love into the universe. Learn from the mistakes of the relationship and try to move on without having hate in your heart. Hating someone does nothing to that person that you are angry with, but it does major damage to one's soul. So that's mostly why I don't like it. *Money - Mostly that horn that is littered over most of the entire track just ruins the song for me. If there was a way to take off the horn the song would be a little more tolerable. *If We - Why I never listen to this song? Ja Rule, uh I just can not stand this dude's voice. Now if she could replace Ja Rule with someone else then the song would be better in my opinion.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (54,155)

I have a love/hate feeling for this song. The video is hot. Fabalous was good, but I feel like there was too much lyrical freedom given to Busta. "Shake that shit and just bounce around." Uh what, is this a strip club song now? If she would have not put Busta in it, would have been much better. But I don't dislike it enough to put it on my list of "Top worst MC songs".

Songs I hated that I now love/like (54,153)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Can we start a new topic, I believe we have already done the "songs I dislike" list? To stray away from the negativity of songs I hate, how about songs I hated that I now love and the reasons why. I'll start off with one: The Roof: I feel my hands burning for even typing this. This is my all time favorite Mariah song, but when it was released, I couldn't get into it. And I never hated it but it just didn't appeal to me. Fast forward 2006 when YouTube was birthed I saw a Lamb's video and the song was used to illustrate it. The lyrics came alive and I became obsessed with the brilliance of it. The moodiness, the yearning, and the running to nostalgia to get away from your present day life. I could go on. Did I Do That?: When I first heard this song, I thought it was the worst song she ever created, a rush job, album filler. At some point I was reading the lyrics in the booklet out of curiosity to what she was even saying in the song, as I didn't pay too much attention due to the fact that I couldn't get past the jarring noise emanating from my speaker. Wait a minute, did she just say "conversations painfully weak, you were much better off when you didn't speak". That so clever and underhanded. Mariah's first diss song? You Had Your Chance: I just hated her vocal on this at first, too much whispering, and wrong sample choice. When Dr Dre's previous is so prominent, that you can't hear it as anything else, much less a Mariah Carey love song. Years and a few broken hearts later, I went through a similar situation as described in this song. Someone I once couldn't live without reemerged in my life and I didn't feel a thing for them at all. And they were interested. Sorry, you had your chance. The hook was so well written and cleverly sung to flow nicely. "And now you want me back again, after my heartache and suffering, I was your fool, but that's all in the past. So sorry boy, but you had your chance."

And we bring them positivity (54,151)

I think it's time we get more creative on this board. It's a great outlet and I'm grateful we have it. I don't post a lot but I enjoy reading the posts more than the news articles. Anyway I digress. Mariah is a queen and a queen needs her people. We need a worldwide grassroots movement. This message board would be a great tool if we could come up with a way to start a fan club and try to help market our girl. We all have things we love Mimi for and yes in her 25 year career there have been some cringe worthy moments but Mariah has given far more in return. We should rally together and build up a base that is loyal enough to buy downloads, request air play, stream videos, ect. It's a numbers game and even if the song isn't our fave at the time we still commit to its success. It's about the big picture and helping our queen keep her throne. In return we keep MC's art alive and relevant. Even the past two years when you think about Almost Home, #Beautiful, Faded, my fave YM(E) just to name a few. Mariah is the gift that keeps on giving. I thought the BET Honors performance was iconic and the opening to #B at the BET Awards was magical. We all have a critic inside and no one is perfect but our girl is only human and I for one take the good with the bad. If she succeeds then we succeed because there are not a lot of celebrities loyal to their fans like Mariah. I still have a lot of life to live and I can't imagine it without my Mimi in the spotlight.

How dare you. "Forever" is a nice song. It's catchy. "Say something" is a great up tempo track and my favorite from "TEOM". You tripping. "Babydoll" is a nice r&b number. Mariah's voice is so smooth and buttery. To me it was number one material. I happen to like "How much". And "Now that I know" is great. There's nothing corny about it. So re seat girlfriend. All 5 of these songs are good.

I get it, B. You're one of those people. I agree with you. She did sing IDWC all live. The whole show is live. She actually did it better than in 1996, even better than the album version. I can't wait for her new album, it's gonna slay. She is going to dominate. She is back to her old 1995 self. Everything is great. I believe infinity is more than just a made up buzz single.

Buzz singles vs proper singles (54,145)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
| |

Okay a sure way to know it's a buzz single is when there's no video, no intention for radio adds, and in most cases no major push. It's just released into cyber world to get people, well, buzzing. *shrugs* Buzz singles: TAOLG, Bring It On Home, 100 Percent. Proper singles: Triumphant (I guess), #Beautiful (ofcourse), YME, and Infinity.

5 songs I dislike by Mariah (54,144)
by Ty from USA
| |
|

Wow, let's see how this goes: 1. Forever: This song bores me, very middle of the river, Celine type vocals, yawn. 2. Say something: I love the video but the song is waterweak to me. Again she looks stunning in the video. 3: Baby doll: I hated it, the vocal coo annoys me, the song gives me nothing. 4. How much with Usher: A waste of two talents. 5. Now that I know: Corny.

Buzz buzz (54,143)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
Infinity is not a buzz single, it was a single released to promote the residency and rerelease of #1's. It was probably therapeutic for Mariah to write and record, I don't think they released it expecting to be Mariah's next hit or #1. TAOLG and Triumphant were buzz singles.

This week in history (54,141)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
On 04-06-2014 Me. I Am Mariah debuted at #1 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. Lead single #Beautiful sold a million copies and peaked at #15 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. You're Mine (Eternal) was a modest hit on Billboard's R&B Songs chart. Her album sold 100,000 copies in one of the worst years the industry has faced. Her career isn't in that bad of shape. She can easily rebound from these minor setbacks. #1 To Infinity was released to promote her residency. LA wouldn't have signed her if he really thought her days making hits are over. What would be the point? These rereleases aren't going to sell. Hopefully, it's part of a large attempt at turning Mariah image around. She always delivers when she's the underdog and she's been written off. It's like hearing those things motivates her and puts her in creative mode. Slay, Mariah. She still has her looks and her voice. She is the most talented artist in the game.

Alejandro, yep sure I'll hit you up on Skype sometime would be good to talk remixes as I have virtually all of them from the Sony days and love listening to them. Sorry, I overlooked your list. I'm currently accessing this site from my phone. My bad. Haha. Yeah, I don't think To The Floor is anywhere near Mariah's best work. It just ends up sounding hollow to me for some reason. Like it lacks something. A melody maybe. I mean it has one, sure, but it's quite dodgy.

Mimi, sorry, I just couldn't get into those songs. Haha. I'd like to see your list. Licia, I have heard the original, and although I know it was a bit longer, Mariah's cover to me seems to sound longer because she sounds like a featured artist in her own cover track. Haha. Want to know your list as well.
