Do you think we are going to get good videos of Mariah performing in Vegas? (52,783)
by Nick from USA
| |
|
|
I just realized that at the Colosseum in Vegas they are very strict on recording videos, and other stuff like that, do you think that they are going to be strict with the Mariah show aswell?

Travon The Nostalgic (52,709) / Stockholm syndrome? (52,782)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
One aber: Most Europeans have a much more liberal approach to censorship of four letter words like lamb so I don't think it's the best indication of Eric's personal opinion that he allows colourful language. Other than that, I mostly agree with you Travon. It is very much a question of delivery, incidentally Mariah has always been brilliant in hers. Me? I am admitedly non-chill when that particular mood strikes, I make no false pretences that I'm unbiased in any way. I am very much partial, all lambs are. Meanwhile suspect figures are trying to make the argument that a lamb doing what lambs are inhetently supposed to do are the ones being disruptive on a Mariah Carey board. But it's also very much a matter of sheer volume. Occasional hate of a song, video, dress, live performance etc is natural, most fans have minor gripes about a lot of things Mariah does just like we do about the people and things in our own private lives daily. But when that's your default position I will cry foul, every time. When you never support or defend Mariah, let alone like her music, yet you insist on regularly posting on a Mariah message board? Well, that is beyond the pale and it's just blatantly disrespectful. I find it very interesting that some posters deny the very existence of Mariah haters. Like, why would the very mention of real Mariah haters possibly posting on this board irk you so much unless you're aligned with their agendas or worse, coerced into fighting their battles?

Female collabo? (52,781)
by MIAM from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
Why hasn't MC collaborated with another female artist? It's A Wrap only had Mary added to the song. At this point she needs to venture out of the same ol' same ol', and try something different to what everyone is used to from her. What is she afraid of? A proper collaboration single with another female artist that is current would bring her back to normality in the public eye and do wonders for her reputation. Just saying.

Live in the studio vs live in concert (52,780)
by Marcus from Brazil
| |
|
|
There must be something wrong with anybody who thinks that any artist who can sing their songs live in the studio will be able to easily replicate it live in concert, because according to that logic, it's their voice anyway. Well, when singing live on stage you don't have time to do perfect cut and paste or taking breaks of maybe weeks during sessions. Singing live is the ultimate challenge for any vocalist. Acting on stage is more challenging than acting in a movie where a scene can be re-shoot over and over until it comes out right. On stage, you only have one shot. So, it is ridiculous the analogy that if they can sing it live in the studio, they can definitely replicate it live, especially when a person has suffered evident damage in their vocal cords. You can be the biggest fan, but that doesn't mean you have to be so ignorant. If you own a computer, broadband Internet and a smart phone, you should know these things.

Re: Jon (52,779)
by John from Italy

Thank you so much Jon. I tried to develop the strength that was missing in the original version. When I played back the mix for the first time, I couldn't believe it sounded so powerful and so "Mariah-like", even more than the original version. I don't know why they did that way. Maybe Mariah and her team wanted something clean and have tried to avoid too many overlappings.

John / enhanced mix (52,778)
by Marcus from Brazil
| |
|
|
I love your mix, but whatever happened to the second verse? You've left it out. If you find a way to incorporate it into your mix, in my opinion, Mariah should hire you. It is ridiculous the talent of some fans out there. How can some fans with some regular software can create mixes that sound more professionally done than the original? Kudos to those who have created these mixes, they definitely offer an alternative to those who don't like the official song.

Infinity positivity (52,777)
by TheOne from Philippines
| |
|
|
I did not post something lately because of the bad vibes in this board. This is my first time to say something about this song. When I first heard this song, I suddenly liked it. This is what I expect from Mariah to release because of its title and the rumored review that it is all about Nick (which it isn't). This is the song that Mariah "needs" to release now to regain her throne at the charts because this is what she's "known" lately. Did you notice her last releases like Obsessed, UOMF, #Beautiful and her last #1 hit, TMB? If she released some songs ala EOM, most non-fans will find her "irrelevant" and "dated". 2005 music is really different from 2015 music guys. Infinity definitely looks "hot" from the non-fans. I honestly think that it will land to Hot 100 without any promotion because the song speaks for itself. Besides, MC looks hot lately. She looks like 34 or 35.

To infinity (52,776)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah Carey released two back to back albums that are now considered classics and she wasn't and still isn't given the credit that she deserves. Not because of her antics but because the industry can't get past the fact that she married Tommy. I'll be seeing Mariah Carey in Las Vegas in six days.

Infinty (52,775)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah, Reid, and Sony/Epic are throwing all their might behind this single. I think it's a hit. I think it's the perfect song for her to reintroduce herself. She's not taking herself too seriously and it's catchy as the flu, even those witty verses.

Hey you, yes you / the challenge (52,772)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
| |
|
|
I have noticed a few people have said "I've been visiting this board for years but this is my first post." It's a good time to get some new people posting here. Since some of the "regulars" have decided to "take a break" I challenge those of you who rarely or have never posted before to finally "say something" today. Let make it totally random. Anything Mariah related, whatever it is. We need to lighten the mood around here and have a little fun.

Thoughts (52,771)
by clueey23 from USA

I love "Infinity". I don't understand how people judge a song. It's art not a science fair project. Here we have something totally new from our favorite and all people can do is complain. I think everything about this era has been done very well so far. I hear a hit when I hear "Infinity". I know a lot of you don't like r&b but as I've stated several times on this board, MC can sing anything, but she will always be an r&b artist, that's where her heart is. Never before has MC expressed herself like in this song before. It's very raw. Everything, the vocals, the production, seem very raw and honest. And I appreciate that she didn't put out a club banger right now because that's not where her head is at. I honestly think we will hear this song on the radio, the first since "#Beautiful". MC deserves this. Her past efforts went unnoticed not because of the material but because of the lack of simple promotion she is getting now. I can't wait to see her 5/20/15. I'm not one to judge. I honestly think we will see MC come full circle from where she was this time last year, "it's nothing that you don't already know". This song will be a hit because people will connect with this song. I'm happy that she is reintroducing her #1s because it's time. And I think we should have a new EP out before or after this Christmas project this year. Not a full album, just like 5-8 cuts, mixtape style, straight to iTunes.

Infinity enhanced mix (52,768)
by John from Italy
| |
|
|
When I listened to the song, I liked it but felt that something was missing, so I made a raw mix to obtain a product closer to my taste. It was not intended for public release, but after reading many negative comments I decided to share it with you because I think it shows the true potential of the vocals and the melodies. The repositioning of the chorus at the beginning and other things have been inspired by the great re-edit of Awodaly that some of you published here some days ago, but I was mainly interested in enhancing the last part with many countermelodies a la Mariah, long note and so on (you could skip to 0:51 to hear the part with major changes). If you don’t like the original song, give it a chance in this version. I hope you will find the beauty and the pathos that the song inherently possessed, only it was not quite explicit.

Everyone calm down (52,767)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Can we all please calm down? Guys it's just a song. It's fine if someone loves it or someone hates it. Whatever we post should only be our opinions (and people should also take it as opinions) and not be portrayed as facts. Let's not try to force our opinions down each others throat and call out people for their opinions. It's hard when we all feel so passionately about MC but we should try. And please no more of the "fair weather fans versus true lamb" bull crap. That topic has been milked dry by now. We all are here because at some level we feel connected to Mariah and we love her. Let everyone voice their opinions and if you don't agree just state why your opinions differ but don't try to make others agree with you. Let's all just be respectful to each other and towards Mariah and try to engage in a healthy discussion or debate. No need to bring on the abuse. I don't think anyone who doesn't love Mariah atleast on some level has the time or need to post on this board so from that I'll assume everyone here is a fan whether they like something she puts out or not.

Infinity (52,764)
by Otti from Belgium
| |
|
|
Some fans or lambs (call it what you want) are really hard on Mariah. "Infinity" is listed number 19 on the "number ones" album, not somewhere between "Love takes time" and "I don't wanna cry". What I want to say is that the game has changed, "hate the game not the player". "Infinity" comes after "Touch my body", which was a catchy fun number one. When had Celine or Janet their last number one? The fact that it has more appeal to "non-fans" is a good sign. More than 3 million views on YouTube. That's LA Reid stragery. I remember when "TEOM" got a huge success, LA Reid explained Mariah has a solid fanbase and she makes more new fans from all ages. The most hurting thing I hear on this board is that the song is not worth to be a number one, why this negative prediction from lambs? I hope Mariah never read this board, despite some really good post from Baby, Ethan and Jon.

The video has more than 3 million views. TAOLG has yet to reach 2 million. Very curious about where this single is going to peak. I think it will be very sucessful. Once it's in your system is difficult to shake it off. It's also a perfect song to finish a Vegas show. I can see her leaving while singing "ohh ahh". Epic stuff.

Lowered expectations fuel the fandom (52,761)
by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA

I can only speak for me, but I didn't really expect much from Infinity. I've had to learn with Mariah that she is, at best, unreliable. Why she is this way is a debate for another post. Infinity is cute, that's it. Will it be her 19th #1? No. Will it even be a top 20 hit? It's very unlikely. It is a cute song and nothing more. TBH I loved the lyric video and found it the most interesting thing she's done visually in a long time. Which means I expect the actual video to be terrible. I expect the Vegas show to be high camp and a hot mess holistically. I will find some fun in whatever she does with "I don't wanna cry" but other than that do your thing Mariah.

Negativity (52,759)
by Connor Bethune from United States
| |
|
|
I have checked this board for a year now and have only posted a few times. I am honestly dumbfounded at how hateful some of you fans are concerning Infinity. To be honest I hated Your Mine Eternal, yet I still supported it, still requested it on the radio, and still bought it. Fortunately, I love this song, it's catchy, well sung (for the most part), and is classic Mariah. Just because you don't like the song doesn't mean your opinion is absolute. I'm really disappointed at this board. And frankly it is weighing me down. I'll check back in a few weeks.
