Feels like the calm before the storm (52,164) by Mara from United States
Getting so excited for Monday. I wonder if us on the east coast will have to wait until 9:30pm to hear the song and see the video. Everything has been under wraps so do we really know if the song will debut before her welcoming in Vegas? Maybe it will all unveil as part of the welcome and if that's the case, it is due to start around 6:30pm which means 9:30 for me. The anticipation is killing me. On to the debut album, it is such a classic. Her vocals on those songs were amazing. I too love Alone In Love. Someday always holds a special place to me too. Although VOL was her first hit, I think ultimately Someday turned Mariah into something else on the visual scale. I remember being in high school and all the guys were in love with Mariah and her beautiful eyes. Her image was set and very iconic in that video. I can't wait to hear her sing that and IDWC.

Def Jam replacement? (52,163) by Cgee54 from Usa
Isn't it interesting that Def Jam just signed Leona Lewis? I find it somewhat interesting because Mariah is no longer with them. I never had an issue with her, I just thought she was another singer trying to hard to be another Mariah, no shade. What do you all think?

Re: "Love Story" awkwardness (52,155) by Alejandro Cole (52,162) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I would agree with you 100% if Love Story was ever written about Mariah and The Thirsty One to begin with. It wasn't. I think Mariah likely suffered from a giant bout of transference of affection. I know that sounds overtly dramatic but It's the only explanation that makes any sense to me. "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." It happens all the time. Not to say that Mariah didn't give her all to make her marriage work, especially considering the children, it's pretty obvious she's not a quitter. But we have yet to see the conclusion of Love Story IMHO. Obviously I'm also very much a hopeless romantic. I'll tell you though, the Love Story video is where I noticed Mariah seemed more genuinely enamoured with Thirsty while he looks entirely too much like the cat that ate the canary. That always rubbed me the wrong way, what with him being so persistent a suitor to have married her just six weeks into dating. But I could be totally wrong and Infinity will be the end of Love Story. Mariah has been known to reference her own songs in lyrics. Maybe Love Story etc. will get a shout out come April 27th? Then we'll know if that was truly one of their songs.

Debut faves (52,161) by Tiina from Finland
Vision Of Love is still one of the best songs Mariah has ever written. Once again, it's hard to believe she was still a teenager writing this masterpiece. She proved right then and there that she had range, not just as a vocalist but as a songwriter. VOL is so raw, it makes me emotional every time I listen to it. I feel very close to that song. SFUA is a fabulous, smooth jam which I listen to far too seldom but I'm always taken back how current it sounds. I almost can't believe it's on her debut album. Vanishing, another one of those songs that makes you go: wow, she really did that. I love the mixture of her beautiful buttery tone and that smoky breathiness. No one can sing Vanishing quite the way she does with such soul. I have a very special place in my heart for Someday, a song Mariah hates with passion. I love her vocals on it, the way se delivers the lyrics with such feeling. The acapella version is like crack to me. IDWTC and LTT have always been sibling songs to me in my mind (certain Mariah songs seem like siblings, don't you agree?). I didn't use to like them but today I yearn for them, especially LTT. Such soul, such raw emotion. TGTBAW, AIYM, Prisoner and YNM all sound pretty dated to me. My fave out of all of them is TGTBAW. It's not a strong song and it's cheesy as hell but those damn vocals, wow. She goes all out. That's why today I often feel unsatisfied when I try to listen to other singers. They sound so boring, bland and limited compared to Mariah.

Favorite song from debut album (52,160) by Mirage_Nunez from America
1) Love Takes Time is just too remarkable for words, it captures an emotional moment only Mariah can deliver.
2) Vanishing is so haunting from her vocal delivery to the enchanting background vocalizations. Did anyone else notice how the vocals in the background almost sound like ghosts singing "boooooo". I can see Mariah creatively connecting that idea of vanishing to idea of ghost appear and disappear. I don't know, I could be wrong.
3) All Alone In Love, "swept me away but now I'm lost in the dark, set me on fire but now I'm left with a spark" says it all. Beautifully poetic and captivating in every way.
Oh and by the way there's not one bad song on that album. I love it as a whole and still listen to it weekly, these are just my top three (all tied at one really) absolute favorites.

Breakdown at the Vegas residency (52,159) by Ethan from United States
Would it be amazing if Mariah performs Breakdown as part of her show? It's completely appropriate that she includes it in her setlist because of the showgirls, casinos and hotels, and glitz of showbiz. I really hope that she does it. I don't really care if she lip-synches the song as long as she performs it with the chairs, dancers, and costumes. I can't wait to find out and I think Mariah is one of those artists that will change up the setlist even though it's a residency. Let's hope so.

Shelly (52,158) by Abraham from USA
Sorry, I skipped your message. I'm so pumped. I can't wait. I agree with the person who said that Mariah might have flimed it before or after her "Ellen" apperance. I think so too. I'm also glad on how much love her debut album is getting. I think Mariah has the best debut album out of any female artist. "There's got to be a way" is Mariah at her best. Amazing song.

Tevin / Kyle (52,157) by Abraham from USA
No I don't think so. I doubt Mariah would include those tacky girls in one of her videos. Matter of fact I don't even think she'd talk to them. Much less include them in a video that's supposedly going to "blow our minds". Honestly who even listens to them? Bunch of autotune flops. Even Ariana slays all of them lol. Kyle your post got me more excited. I can't wait. I'm ready for Mimi to get her next hit. If not with "Infinity" then with a song from the next album.

Jake / You Need Me (52,156) by Bill from the UK
I love You Need Me. I know for some it's the weakest track but I love it. I love how passionate her vocals are and her ad libs at the end are brilliant. I love how she sings "before you act so hastily" differently every time she approaches the line. I overused the word "love" in this post. But that's because I love You Need Me, and I love Mariah.

"Love Story" awkwardness (52,155) by Alejandro Cole from Colombia
Watching the video for "Love Story" and its lyrics is quite awkward for me especially after the "and this aint gone end up like that Casablanca’s movie" phrase. And now, the fact that "Infinity" will be the total opposite makes me realize how much of a human Mariah is, sometimes we forget about it and ask for her nothing but perfection when in fact she is just like you and me. She was wrong and she is ready to admit it with this new song in front of the whole world. I applaude her for that.

Sorry guys (52,154) by pharaoh_shawn from New Zealand
In my last message (52,134) I did all capitals so half of my subject got the chop, the subject was meant to read, "I love See You Again".

See ya later cuz (52,153) by Bill from the UK
One of her best lyrics ever. Love me some Prisoner.

Debut album (52,151) by Jake from New Zealand
I actually think it's really underrated and it's my favorite Mariah album. Every single song is great and none of the songs are fillers, maybe except for "You Need Me".

The anticipation of MiMi (52,150) by Kyle from USA
I'm excited about the "Infinity" single and video premiere Monday. Currently, with Taylor Swift done dropping singles fo her album and Rhianna was a massive flop, there is nothing good on radio right now. Basically, Mariah could slay for a couple weeks before the next big hit is dropped by someone else. Epic and herself have something massive up their sleeve and this is going to be big.

Debut album fav list (52,148) by May from Denmark
While I love all the songs in her debut album, the favorite ones I had in those days were: Prisoner, "Sent from up above", IDWC, Someday and "All in your mind" and "Alone in love". Amazingly VOL and LTT were the ones I heard the least in my repeat-play list. Then I learnt to love passionately LTT. SFUA to me was a gorgeous song at the time because she was the only one who used to sing with that breathy/whispery voice that sounded like an angel, hitting those low notes and suddenly then at mid song giving it all she got. It was dreamy to hear someone do so many gymnastics with the voice. Whitney was great but I never felt deeply in love with her voice, just her singing style. There were powerful beautiful voices with a lot of character when MC hit the stage like Taylor Dayne and Tina Turner but Mariah was so unique, she was at another level.

Up Out My Face Nick (52,147) by Mushaakiss from UAE
I was listening to this song as I was driving home and the lyrics just got me thinking how odd that this song was years ago and yet with the news of Nick allegedly trying to get back with Mariah and that alleged statement made that Mariah likes him but she will never ever wanna get back with him it seems as if UOMF is on point with this rumor lol. It's also ironic that Nick directed that video. When she breaks, she breaks.

Favourite track from the debut album (52,146) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
This album is a masterpiece of a debut, and as such I love all the songs on the album. However, I do of course have personal favourites. Aside from the majestic Vision Of Love (which I consider the greatest debut single of all time) and the heartbreaking Love Takes Time, I have always had a real soft spot for Sent From Up Above. It moves me every time and makes me feel good when I feel down. It's a beautiful song and a real hidden gem in the Mariah catalogue.

Fav track from debut album (52,145) by R&B Junkie from Poland
I always considered "All in Your Mind" and "Vanishing" to be the best tracks of this 1990 effort. This year "I Don't Wanna Cry" joined it due to the fact it's the best song that I can listen to when I am sad and have that feeling that no one's help is needed (it's weird but it happens ). I put much less love into "Vision of Love" and "Someday" (however MTV Unplugged version is one of my favorite MC's tracks ever). Honestly, it's my least favourite album. The next one sits still at my personal top 5 though.

Excited (52,144) by B from USA
I'm excited that Mariah is not only performing her 18 #1's but fan favorites as well. I hope she sings Breakdown, The Roof, Butterfly, Looking In, and Outside.

Re: RJJ12 / enwar00 (52,143) by Billy from Greece
Thank you both for your responses. RJJ12, I love the Stevie J. remix of ISB too as you noticed and I second what you said about the late 1990s being her peak period in terms of reinventing a song. Enwar00, it is so interesting to read about you "watching your memory" years later. Endless, nostalgic melancholy.

I love every track on her debut (52,142) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Yes, the album is dated in that in some ways you can tell it was made in 1990, but seriously when you really think about it, don't tracks like "Prisoner" blow your mind? In my opinion it's so ahead of its time. I will join Bill and freak out if she does that live. Lol I prefer the jackswing remix to Someday, but I like the album version too. Sometimes I can't help wishing she would do "Love Takes Time" and "Can't Let Go" more often. I love "Can't Let Go" (I have noticed the whisper vocal too, Bill). Vanishing will always be one of my favorite songs to sing, and "All Alone In Love" and "There's Got To Be A Way" are just do representative of that era in time. Sigh just so good.

Apart from #1's, will Sony promote/celebrate her 25 years in music? (52,141) by MC1989 from Spain
I hope Sony will do something related to the first album's 25 anniversary. Daydream turns 20 this year, they have tons of audiovisual material to re-release special editions from this albums (with pictures, comments, rarities and remixes not included in the origonal ones) and release concerts, live performances, etc from these albums/eras. Morover, it's the appropiate time to release a CD+DVD collection with her greatest live performances from TV shows, awards, etc. like they did with Whitney last year. By the way I agree with all of you, Sent From Up Above and Alone In Love are masterpieces. Mariah could do a great rendition of these and many other songs that would fit her current voice. It's a pity that throughout her career she never sang live gems from her albums, like There's Got To Be A Way, To Be Around You, The Wind, I've Been Thinking About You or Long Ago.

The debut (52,140) by Bill from the UK
Glad to see the album get a lot of love in its 25th year. The debut is one of my most favourite Mariah albums ever. It was so classy and every song is a complete winner. There is not a single track I skip. I agree about everybody's comments on Alone In Love, it is a beautiful track and I love its arrangement as well. Prisoner is fantastic and I would "give my all" to hear her do the song and the rap live. It's just a beautiful album and I play it probably ten times a week. Always on the record player and my iPod to and from work.
