I was afraid this appearance would be like the one on David Letterman, but she was normal. Great to see her day, this is a new chapter of her life and for her to embrace it. Also it is confirmed that she will be doing a residency based around her #1s which will be amazing and will appeal to a wider audience too. Well I for one can't wait for the dates to book my tickets and flights over from the UK and totally immerse myself in the Mariah shop too so a empty suitcase will be coming along. Lambily let's embrace this and support Mariah and no doubt some people will complain and hate on her decision but hey who cares? Mariah referencing (49,181) by Monark from Australia Come guys, lets be real. Does the fact that the target might not be explicit make it any less hurtful to the person it's directed towards? There are examples where it's been quite explicit: Obsessed, Side Effects, Did I Do That. Anybody who has followed her might assign those songs to different people, just as they might consider that certain songs on the MIAMTEC are about Nick. We'll never know, but chances are they do. I understand your point, that Nick very explicitly references Mariah, in a way that has been interpreted as a bit gross. But ultimately, if you throw shade, then it shouldn't be surprising that someone lobs a hand grenade back every now and then. I'm not making any judgment on Mariah and the music. I love it all, and as much as it's horrible sometimes to think she had to be in a particular headspace to enable her to create a song that touches me the way it does, and it's our instinct to go in to bat for her. Ultimately though, as Miguel reflected in an interview (and in song) at the time of the Beautiful, everything she does is considered and deliberate. (Thursday 15 January 2015; 7:08)

The picture is recent. I think it was from the AIWFCIY spectacular. It made me happy to see her (even if it's just a picture) on the show. (49,174) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End Can we talk about the fact that Mariah predicted the trajectory of her and Tommy's relationship with "Prisoner" almost word for word? Same goes for what happened with Nick: "Thanks 4 Nothing" comes to mind. Mariah's been known to say she hasn't ever really been in love. I don't really wanna believe her. Just going by the album (Butterfly) she wrote and produced during her romance with Derek one can tell she was a woman in deep love. The universe can't be that cruel to someone so obviously capable of deep emotions and lovable unto herself. It's time the real life male version of VOL, Dreamlover, Whenever You Call, came along and swept our girl off her feet. Well, out of all her significant others, Derek Jeter is still the only one unmarried and childless. Mariah must have felt some type of way about him for all those years for blatant references to still show up in her work as late as Memoirs. I wonder how she explained it to herself: creative expression? I know life isn't all about romantic entanglements but I really ship MC with DJ. Now more than ever. MC25 (49,171) by Maurice from USA When I listen to MIAM, I hear so many references to her other songs. I think a great idea for Mariah would be to combine some of these songs together for a great remix cd. Mariah is know for her mixes. She doesn't have to resing them just get some amazing dj's to mix the song and weave them together to still tell a story. I would like to hear you guys ideas and feedback to. 1. Cry/Breakdown 2. YDKWTD/Stay the night/Someday 3. You're mine/We belong together 4. Faded/Alone in love/Slipping away 5. Can't give up/My saving grace 6. One more try/Forever/DFAU Just a little example. Idea for MC25 (49,166) by Dove from USA I was thinking there could be a concert with popular artists singing the songs from Mariah's debut album. If no network will buy it, they can sell it to Netflix. It can even be shot at the Colosseum or wherever her residency is, if the residency does happen. Some of the songs sound a little dated but I think the younger artists can pull them off. Difference in Mariah writing about Nick and Nick writing about Mariah (49,165) by Darryle from USA I don't think Mariah writing about Nick is the same as Nick writing about Mariah. Writing and singing songs is Mariah's job. Nick didn't have any response to songs like Angles Cry and It's A Wrap. Or even a song like #Beautiful, that's positive. The only reason Nick is saying anything is because he knows Mariah won't speak out so it's his word against Mariah's silence. Also the songs on MIAMTEC weren't blatantly about Nick. With this album Mariah was writing about the turmoil her marriage was experiencing. Mariah has written songs about Nick before, like the previous ones I just mentioned but she wasn't putting him on blast for it she was just writing down what she felt. Nick knew what he was getting into when he married a songwriter. (Wednesday 14 January 2015; 18:32)

The songs were heartfelt (no I don't think Thirsty was about Nick, I think Camouflage and maybe Cry were about him). Nick's song is making light of the divorce like it's just a joke to him. That's why to me I find it disrespectful. And I was always someone who was pro-nick after they got married because of how happy Mariah was, so I'm not biased against him. B / Nick (49,163) by Edward from USA B, exactly my point. I don't know why we keep bringing Nick's name into 2015, when clearly Mariah high-noted his ass into 2014 forever. So, he should stay there, in the past, while Mariah and her lambs keep on moving on. He's allowed to babysit sometimes though. Nick could be a good DJ, and an average host, but a musician, he is clearly not, nor will he ever be. I let my grandmother listen to one of his goofy songs from "White People Party Music" on late November 2014, and she didn't make it into 2015. Now I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life. 20 seconds into the song, she said: "I can't, my head" in Spanish, gave me the eye of being tortured, and the rest is history. Monark (49,162) by Will from England Because Mariah has never, to my knowledge, ever referenced anyone by name in a bad way in her songs. She alludes about whom she may be talking about or what she is feeling or the actual situation, but never outright. For me, that's why it is more ok for her to do. She isn't using her art to take down people by name. She doesn't use it to take cheap shots at someone. When the album first came out, we were all wondering "Is she talking about Nick?", "What is she talking about in this line?". When she does reference someone by name, it is always in a positive light. At the end of the day, she knows whom she is talking about in her songs, whilst we're all left playing the guessing game. And to be perfectly fair to her, when the album came out, we had no idea that things had gone so wrong behind the scenes. Whether Nick heard the album prior to it being released, I don't know, but I doubt he was blindsided by some of the songs on there. Whilst this, this came out of nowhere. Mariah lyrically shredded him to pieces punch after punch on MIAMTEC. Now that "blank checks" turned into "blank texts", there's no diss at all. And besides, who is actually listening to any "music" Nick puts out, really? I think that on 2014 Mariah was singing to him: "Too far apart to bridge the distance But something keeps us hanging on and on Pretending not to know the difference Denying what we had is gone Every moment we're together It's just breaking me down I know we swore it was forever But it hurts too much to stay around" She didn't wanna cry, so she dropped his ass, she's happy now, moving on, new year, new adventures. Nick's song (49,158) by Monark from Australia I think those who are up in arms about Nick's song lyrics need to just settle down. Have you not heard Cry? "Guess it's selfish of me to just expect that I'm entitled to have you." To my mind this is a direct reference to her weaving their story into her album and music. And in a sense it is selfish. Art imitates life, but why is this only ok for Mariah to do? I understand you might make a comment about whether his reference is tasteful. But, at the end of the day, we don't know whether Mariah has outright said to Nick that "you don't know what to do' or that he's thirsty or any of those things. If we accept that Mariah's life (and her relationship) will be reflected through her art, it is extremely irrational to expect that Nick is not allowed to do the same.
