MTV Unplugged / debut showcase (49,408) by Skip from United States
Both of these unedited recordings were such an unexpected pleasure to listen to today. I loved hearing the MTV show unmixed as well because of new sounds you could pick out. What sounds like a harpsichord in "I'll Be There" was so beautiful. Finding out Mariah's mom was in the audience? Awesome. But I think the thing I noticed about these performances the most were that she wasn't always spot on - and here we are 25 years later, freaking out if she misses a note or her voice cracks when the same things happened here. We just never got to hear them unfiltered. And the best thing is hearing these classic songs performed with a live band instead of the synth produced sounds of the record. I love MC with a live band.

Re: Little boy (49,397) (49,406) by Dove from USA
This is the last time I will mention him, after this post he doesn't exist. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but he just proved me wrong. He is not a nice person. He doesn't respect Mariah, if he did he wouldn't be talking about making her hit the high notes in his lame song, or talking about her at all. Everyone knows she hates her private life being made public. He can't stand that she'll always be the one people are interested in and not him. It seems like he tries to trip her up whenever she's about to do something big. She does look a lot happier and more focused now that's he's out of the picture and I'm glad for her. He probably hopes their names will always be linked together but he doesn't have any actual talent. In a few years he'll be a nobody like Kevin Federline, and Madonna and Judy Garland and all of the iconic star's ex husbands. He's not even divorced yet but is already posting pictures with the woman rumored to be his mistress. Bad move, nobody likes a homewrecker. Ask LeAnne Rimes. The reason he took all those jobs is because there was a prenup and he was trying to get a return on his investment in any way he could. What a jerk for leaving her alone all those years knowing she has abandonment issues. He's not even worth the thought or time I'm wasting typing this. End rant.

A little light hearted message (49,405) by Amber C from USA
So Lord knows the next time we will see Morrocan Scott and Monroe, they'll probably be eighteen, when they are no longer under parental guidance. But pertaining to little miss Monroe, I don't want to jump the gun, but I do believe she has the talent in her. I believe she will be just as talented as her mother. For example, she has Mariah's "loud" pitched voice. Even when Monroe isn't loud her voice is big. Next example, during her Australian debut in Supernatural, did you guys realize her little hand moving in that "wax on, wax off motion" Mariah does? I did. Maybe im overjoyed for no reason, but I do believe Monroe is her mother 10x.

Mariah at Nick and Amber: "I don't know them" (49,404) by Vítor Henrique Pereira from Brazil
I still imagine Mimi being unmoved, say, if she and Nick were two Lego blocks, even the Harvard University graduating class of 2010 couldn't put them back together again. Not funny.

Lee TS / Warrior Butterfly / unedited vocals (49,403) by Bill from the UK
Lee TS, I cannot thank you enough for sharing the unedited MTV Unplugged concert. Unplugged has always been my most favourite album of Mariah's, and this was a complete joy to listen to and such a treat. For years, I have thought I heard the "la la la's" towards the end of I'll Be There, but thought my ears were playing tricks on me. They were there all along but just moved to the background in the editing lol. So many times I wanted to post about that but worried about coming across as a fool haha. And Warrior Butterfly, the Tattoo Club showcase was brilliant. I never knew she performed Someday (can see why it was left out as they seemed to screw up a couple of times haha). These were great to listen to, thanks for posting, both of you.

Mariah Carey is happy after Nick? (49,402) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
Is it just me or does it seem that Mariah makes more of an impact when she is single and is focused? She seems more radiant, happy, eager to work, and less stressed when she is not caught up in a relationship with a jerk. Nick is definately a jerk. Astonishingly I am surprised of how he is trying to hurt the mother of his two children by degrading her new career moves to be his idea. If I were him, I would appreciate that my wife made me a successful career and move on. He will get joint custody. So why is he acting this way? We don't know but he needs to stop before Mariah goes back to Sony. Sony (NBC) does a lot of business with Nick. Her classiness will always outrank his childish atttitude and 10 gigs. If you are well respected enough your name is all you need to be successful. It says a lot that Mariah does less for more and nick does 10x more for less. Just saying he needs to watch it. Can I get a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Don't play that song (49,401) by NHYTG from nyc
I just listened to Don't Play That Song, I don't understand why it wasn't a part of the first album. It's great, I would have liked to hear Mariah a bit raw like that more often.

Re: Little boy (49,397) by Che from USA
What amazes me is that this post was actually written and thumbed up by that many people. Why? Because guess what? Whether they're married are not they still have two beautiful, sweet twins together. Which means that for the rest of their lives their lives and names will be connected. What saddens me the most is that instead of lambs being supportive and showing love that regardless of them no longer being a couple they still be friends and family for their children they throw negativity and feed into BS tabloid and blog stories that attempt to pit them against each other at least in the public's eyes. Chris, you say he came back? Hate to kill the dream for you but he never left and he's not going anywhere. Line his pockets? Riddle me this why if he was trying so hard to get her money would he bother to work as hard as he does and always has. I'm not saying you have to love or like him but at least make sense. Moochers don't put in work when they're banking on someone else's pockets.

Voice, show and the works (49,396) by Nathan from USA
Touring and succeeding shows have definitely robbed Mariah of chunks of her voice, but I feel that since 2010ish with the AL tour, she kind of reached a plateau vocally of ever recooperating to years prior, say 2006, but the fraction that's left will never leave. Kind of makes sense? I mean could you imagine MC doing a 20 date tour with bronchitis and then a 6 almost consecutive offering of 6 Beacon dates in her earlier pre-1993 years? Since '93 her voice has been super fragile, he'll look what the 40 date Mimi tour did to her. Point is, I think the Vegas shows and their ample spacing will be just fine and she'll be in solid (though limited) vocal shape. I'm very curious as to how she's going to tackle all those numbers 1s she's been refraining from singing all these years. The smart move would be to record some several unpolished studio takes in these next months for certain parts, but definitely arrange the key a bit or hell, even perform some of the classics acoustically. The fans would love it I guarantee. On another note, B, We Belong Together is definitely a gem. It's what made me a fan. I was in the car and we were listening to SUBG by Kelly and they changed it to MC and I was like pissed, who the hell is this? After I heard the climax I was like "This was fucking incredible, I need to know more about this woman." That's how you know a song is a good song. And that's about how it went. She just better start Vegas off on a good note. No bronchitis this time Mimi.

Edward / show / Abraham (49,395) by Dove from USA
Thanks Edward. I'll try not to be so sensitive. I really do appreciate having somewhere to share my ideas. I suspect my friends and family get tired of listening to me talk about MC all the time (because they always change the subject). I just had another idea: instead of a movie about her life, how about a show based on her life? Something like The Carrie Diaries meets Everybody Hates Chris. It can start when she's in high school. She can tell stories to writers and they can write the episodes. She would need to get really good (clever/funny) writers though, so that it can keep going for enough seasons to tell her life. Maybe Amazon Prime or Netflix would buy it. Abraham I love that song, especially the version with Babyface. When I was watching the Deborah Cox video yesterday, that video was a suggested video and I thought "Mariah would have sung that song so well, it almost sounds like her." I don't think she should cover it (it would be too similar to the original), but she definitely could have pulled it off.

TEOM (49,394) by B from USA
I can't believe it's been a decade since Mariah Carey released that musical masterpiece. 1995 Daydream, 2005 TEOM, 2015 MC25. I knew the moment I heard We Belong Together that she had a hit on her hands. I know hit making Mariah is still there, she just needs to work on her image and writing killer songs.

Vegas (49,393) by Norman from USA
I haven't been to SinCity in at least 18 years. So it seems aprops that I'll be back for Mariah's 18 #1's. I'm super excited and can't even imagine what it will be like aside from amazing. I mean, it's Vegas and Mariah, so you know it's going to have to be beyond spectacular. The last time I saw her was for TEOM tour in Anaheim when she filmed the show for the concert. I'm going to have to weigh in on this whole dream duets and #1 list, but I'll have to take my time. Just thinking about it right now makes my brain hurt. It's too much. Hehe I hope you all have a great weekend.

Shelly / You Do Know What To Do (49,392) by Edward from USA
Shelly, you don't have to explain yourself, apologize or refrain from posting your opinions here because some might get mad at you. If they do, let them. There will always be that one person who will take things personal here, but don't let that be about you. As long as you're not being disrespectful to anybody or trashing Mariah or other artists here, I don't see why you have to double think voicing your honest opinions here; even when they might not go with the general opinion of group. Some might not agree with some of your views, but that's the beauty of it all, they have their own opinions to voice too. This is not a cult, you don't have to jump on the "Let me agree and post what people might consider acceptable" wagon. If someone get mad at you, you just have to "Shake It Off".

Shelly (49,391) by Abraham from USA
Yup, that's the one lol. The remix version. There was a video but for some reason it isn't available on YouTube. Anyways glad you agree that Mariah could have covered it. Another song that I wish was Mariah's was "Unbreak my heart" by Toni Braxton. Thanks for responding.

TEOM / 10 years later (49,390) by Billy from Greece
2005 was really a page-turner for both Mariah and her fans. The "Mimi" album was eye-opening. It was as if it came out of nowhere with a big bang. I was left speechless song after song. "Mine Again" made me drop my mouth a few times I recall. I loved the live instruments, I loved Mariah establishing herself fully as an R&B artist. Equally important, apart from overcoming the "Glitter" jinx, "TEOM" was significant for Mariah in terms of how she was seen within a broader pop culture, namely, as a black artist, which meant a lot to her obviously. At the same time, as much as I loved the whole era, in the next years I ended up cringing every time the fans would wish that Mariah repeat everything she did with the "Mimi" album. In fact, the "TEOM" cast a huge shade over subsequent releases and their evaluation, to the point that it became overbearing. "Mariah was so classy during the Mimi era. Mariah was so perfect during Mimi. Mariah, why can't you be the Mimi album all the time?" I don't know if it is mainly people that became fans during that era that make these comments and cannot envision Mariah outside that "role" but I feel torn now about the "Mimi" effect. Even Mariah was trapped in the unparalleled success of that album and the pressure to repeat it. The album as a piece of music is truly valuable. However, I wish fans will able to appreciate what Mariah has done post-"Mimi" and not glorify an era just because of commercial success or a (questionable) Vogue stylist.

Re: (49,381) by B (49,389) by Dove from USA
That was totally me too, still is. In 8th grade I dyed my hair the dark strawberry blonde she has in the ABMB video. My hair is naturally curly, like hers, so I would only straighten the front like she does in Fantasy and OSD. I kept that style for about three years until I finally learned how to straighten it.

Lifetime's Whitney movie (49,388) by Dove from USA
I didn't watch it but I want to. Was it good? I saw people were posting about it on Twitter and Facebook. People were posting that there should be a movie about Mariah and I think so too. Why do we have to wait for someone to die to celebrate them? I expect Mariah to live a long, healthy, and happy life. I know she had said in interviews that she didn't think she would live a long time. I believe sometimes we can intuit these types of things, but if her destiny was to leave this plane early, I think her destiny changed when she had her babies and now she's going to stick around for a long, long time. If the movie is made while she is living, she can give approval and choose the actors. Darryle (49,377) I watched that video and wow. Thank you for sharing. That was amazing to watch and I like it more than Around The World.

Fan fiction (49,386) by Dove from USA
I'm posting this here because it's been on my mind since I posted my hypothetical duets list and it won't leave my mind. I hadn't posted it because I don't want people getting mad at me but I'm going to chance it. I need to unload it and no one in my real life would appreciate it or get excited about it. Here, at least one person might. Okay, so I'm honestly not a fan of Jenifer Lopez's music. I bought On The 6 when it came out because I'm a big fan of Selena and she played Selena. I am a chick, though, so I like her movies. I think she's a beautiful woman (but when Mariah tries I think MC is the most beautiful and I'm not just saying that). JLo seems like a genuinely nice person. Maybe she didn't know TM was using her to get back at MC. Putting them together will definitely make people talk so it's a chance to make lemonade. I made a playlist of my duets and have been listening to them trying to imagine what they would sound like and look like in a video. For Migrate I paired MC with Beyonce. So I was imagining them making an entrance into a Las Vegas club together and Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani are already there waiting for them in the VIP section, so they join them. There can be scenes of them dancing, drinking, having fun and then they migrate somewhere else, maybe to the casino to gamble. I know they're older but older people still like to look good and have fun. It can be like the posse from Sex And The City or Desperate Housewives. It's exciting seeing good looking famous people together. Oh and there can also be video footage of Beyonce, Gwen, and Jennifer arriving on a private jet to see Britney and MC in concert. The party can start at the concert when they're helping her choose an outfit to perform in for the concert and then later cheering her on in the front row of her concert.

TEOM, YDKWTD/Meteorite (49,385) by Stacey from USA
TEOM: I find it hard to believe as well it's been 10 years since that album was released. It's probably my 2nd favorite album behind Daydream. I remember getting my hands on a 8 minute mashup containing clips of all the songs. Words can't describe how excited I was to hear MC bring back those full voice vocals. I wasn't a big fan of the direction MC was heading with Charmbracelet's whispery vocals. TEOM reminded me so much of Daydream's sound. Stellar album. YDKWTD/Meteorite: So happy to see these songs get more attention here. IMO, they are two of the best songs off an amazing album. YDKWTD had such potential to blow up on radio. I know, I know, it's no good to rehash the lack of promo for this album. Still though, it bugs that MIAM didn't do better. It's her best album since TEOM, IMO.

I just looked at it - man it was so much better than the compilation they put together for around the world. I totally loved it. From the moment she opened her mouth her voice was stunning.

Giorgio Moroder (49,382) by B from USA
I think Mariah should work with him. She needs new producers with fresh beats because JD keeps producing the same tired beats. I also think she should work with Happy Perez and the other producers that Frank Ocean and Miguel work with. She needs to do another duet with Miguel.
