Beat The Beatles record (48,970) by Dove from USA
If MC wants to break the record for the most number ones, she needs to just tactfully ask the people. We all want to be a part of something big. We need to believe she can and will break that record.

Same here, I'd love more songs like "Mine again", "I wish you knew", "Beautiful" and "The art of letting go". All of these are great. I also didn't really feel "E=MC2" and "MOAIA" either. I feel that"TEOM" and "MIAM" are a lot more mature.

Compilation albums (48,968) by Dove from USA
Right now is the time to saturate the market with Mariah because she's been out (or on the down low) for a long while. Right now is the time to put her name, face, music, and legacy out there. No one else is putting themselves out there because they know they're not going to make any money. For the #1's album, she should just add the 5 songs to the current #1's and stop distributing the old one. She can include When You Believe, Sweetheart, and Whenever You Call to a B-sides and rarities album. I still buy compilation albums because they're less money than buying the songs individually and sometimes I don't know the artist's work or what songs are good. It's just a little taste. I recently bought the Boyz II Men one and James Brown for $5 each on Amazon and I wouldn't have bought entire albums by them otherwise.

Album prices (48,967) by Dove from USA
We live in times when music can be listened to for free. Because people can listen to it for free, it's time to permanently lower prices on whole albums so that people will buy them instead of stream. I like the Amazon model where everything comes down to $5 (US) at some point. Personally, I always wait until an album hits $5 before I buy it, unless it's Mariah, or an artist I really like at the moment and want to support. But that's rare. In my opinion, a digital download should cost $5, a physical copy of a CD should cost $5 and include a free digital download ($10 for a double CD), and vinyl should be $20 and include a free digital download. (Vinyl is more expensive to make and it's also artwork that can be framed and hung on the wall.) I'm not talking about specials, I'm saying Mariah should make a big announcement that she's lowering the prices on all of her music as a thank you to the people for keeping her in business for 25 years. I know it sounds like giving it away but people are going to stream it otherwise, anyway. Mariah is the type of artist that, if she has the right people (someone like Yoko Ono) managing her legacy and life's work, her grandkids will still be making money off of her for years and years to come.

Vegas (48,966) by Dove from USA
I say yes to the Las Vegas residency. The music industry is in a weird place right now and no one is making any money. Vegas is the perfect place for her to make a ton of money, at least until music starts being distributed in a different way that turns a profit again. But if she does it she should hire some creative people to make it an amazing production/experience. I've seen Celine and Britney's shows and they were pretty awesome and worth the travel and money.

Greatest hits? (48,965) by Otti from Belgium
Marissa where did you hear about this (greatest hits album)?

Greatest hits album (48,964) by Marissa from USA
I feel torn about Mariah releasing a greatest hits album for the 25th anniversary. Greatest hits albums were useful back in 1998 when it was easier to find one album with the best songs rather than running around town trying to buy all of the singles that you liked. Like Otti said, with YouTube nowadays people can just create a playlist of all of her most successful songs and listen to it for free. Another part of me feels like she should release a greatest hits album because it technically can't be considered a flop. I think greatest hits give you more wiggle room in terms of sales expectations. We all know that no artist's greatest hits album nowadays is going to sell millions of copies when people can find all of the songs for free. Another thing is, these are already the songs that made her a star. You don't have to hope and pray that the world will like the music. They already did and do. Plus she can remind the world in an even more obvious way how prolific her career was/is. Ugh, I'm torn.

B / Abraham / Celine (48,963) by LC from USA
Thank you guys for the agreement/shoutout. And Abraham, I totally agree. One huge difference between Mariah and Celine, which is really what makes me cringe when they're put in the same category, is versatility. Celine got famous, and sold so many albums because for her entire career, she's catered to one audience: adult contemporary. Mariah, on the other hand, with her 18 number 1's has been so versatile and open to exploring other genres. Mariah's number 1's: half ballads, half uptempos/ midtempos. Celine's: all ballads. And that versatility is why Mariah is still relevant in the industry. Mariah is the only artist (besides Michael Jackson) from that time that has more than a billion views on YouTube (2 Vevo certified videos). And she's among the top 40 most followed accounts on Twitter. She's still relevant in today's social media ruled industry. Look at #Beautiful, it has 30+ million views, whereas "Incredible", Celine's single, has 5 million. Mariah doesn't deserve to be shoved into Vegas. She's bigger and better than that.

Abraham (48,962) by TJ from Norway
Celine's level of a superstar was much higher when she started singing in Vegas than Mariah is today. I fear that Mariah won't sell as many tickets as Celine does. I love Mariah, but I see the quality of Celine's performances. She connect with the 30-60 year old ones. Mariah doesn't.

Las Vegas (48,961) by B from USA
Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez are both still relevant so saying that only irrelevant singers/stars do residencies in Las Vegas is no longer true. Celine Dion is irrelevant because she's stuck in the 90's musically and I don't know what happened with Shania Twain but she's a country artist and country doesn't discriminate against women of a certain age like pop does. Mariah Carey is a phenom. She'll score another hit single and album so I'm not worried about that.

Great songs (48,959) by B from USA
Mariah Carey needs to continue to write smart, poetic mature lyrics like she did for MIAMTEC and TEOM. I have been reading a lot of articles about MIAMTEC and the question most people ask is, is she still writing lyrics that sound like a little girls diary entry? That was my main problem with Memoirs and Love Story and the other JD ballads except For The Record and Thanx 4 Nothin' from E=MC2. All she needs is a great song and she can easily rebound from this minor misstep. She needs a manager like Benny. She needs to assemble a team like her team from the 90's or 2005.

25 y.o. (48,958) by Otti from Belgium
The other night I was reading the Wiki article about the album Number Ones. And I was thinking how the music industry has changed for the worst. Back then, it was easy for an artist to connect with the fans with just an album. Now with social media and the internet everything has changed. Now for Mariah to celebrate the 25 years in the music industry with an album is not easy, since no one is buying cds. This generation is not waiting for an album, with for an example a booklet with stories behind the song or pictures like back then. How I miss that time. I got nice memories with the number ones album. You had all the number ones plus some new covers. Nowadays if people want to hear an old song, they go to YouTube, that's why Mariah videos still making more and more views. I don't have no idea if it's good or not to celebrate with an album. Back then for me, I had no internet at home, having the number ones album was a good manner to hear her other hits. If Mariah can have another number one, then releasing a new album with number ones, so that this generation can listen to the older music. That would be great. It worked for me back then.

LC (48,957) by Abraham from USA
You're right, I agree. Mariah is too big and legendary to do Vegas. She still has more to offer in the music business. Celine Dion fits Vegas well because let's face it, she doesn't have the star quality, succes or talent(song writing) like Mariah does. She's only really been big with the "Let's talk about love" album. I listened to her latest which is "Loved me back to life" and I think it's a great album, but it went no where. Where as an album from Mariah can, and would be a lot more successful and honored. Critics gave "MIAM" good reviews. So just think with an even better album, they would maybe praise her. I'm one of the fans who want her to score a hit and break The Beatles record. It's time. Also, I thought she looked a little slimmer.

Dubbing / re-singing (48,955) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
This discussion always fascinates me because it has been a part of the music industry for so long. To me, the artist is still doing the work even when there is editing involved. It is still their voice, it's still them doing the vocals. I mean, I get that some editing is smoother than other editing, but generally speaking, dubbing won't ruin a dvd or tv special for me.

Mariah at The Beacon (48,954) by Anthony Carey from U.K
Well guys, I had the privilege to see Mariah twice at her Christmas show and it was definitely worth the flight from the UK to hear and see such beauty. I have to say she sounded amazing and I have seen some people state she wasn't completely live etc etc. You know what, who cares? I paid to see Mariah Carey end of, what she does is up to her as long as she shows up I'm happy. I wanted to ask any thoughts on a Christmas show this December as she stated on FB "I can't wait to do it again next year". So should I be getting prepared? Las Vegas show would be a dream come true for me as I love going to see shows there so to be able to fly out and see Mariah then yes I am all for it. I would wet myself in a Mariah shop no doubt about it. She is a smart business woman and whatever/wherever I back her all the way.

Traveling Mariah (48,953) by nikki from usa
I'm not sure if the moblie home thing is true or not. Mariah's headlining the Jazz festival and has an "annual" Christmas stunt in NY, so I don't see Mariah putting in any full residency anywhere. What if the other buzz is true? Atlanta residency and Vegas? Could she be traveling around with the kids in this big ass mobile home because she's going to be spending a few months in different "residencies" around the nation? Is this a sneaky way of getting a Chanteuse tour without actually having one? Take a road trip with the kids. Get your music heard. Do an ingenious foolproof "tour" that's a guaranteed success. That's some creative multitasking. Your label won't promote you, much less a tour. The music climate sucks right now. But, a "residency" will promote for you and have people coming from all over to see you. Mariah, you sneaky little devil you.

#1's (48,952) by Bill from the UK
I think another #1's album would be great, but as the Facebook picture implies, also include AIWFCIY. That would be a concise and relevant summary of her career to date. Not many artists can put out a #1's record and then have to update it several years later. I would also of course love some new tracks alongside it to promote it.

#MC25 (48,949) by Keagon michael from USA
I would love to see her use her own money to release some quality official music videos for 2 songs off Me I Am... because us fans deserve that despite sales. Sales does not define an album. Second a new "Greatest hits 2.0" featuring hits from 2001-2014. This is long over due from Island Records.
My dream: "Cry" performed on Ellen (live and raw)
Video: Faded
Greatest Hits or Singles Collection with 2 new songs

Vegas / MC25 (48,948) by LC from USA
I don't know about you guys, but I think Mariah is still too relevant to do Vegas. Her name still carries a lot of weight in the industry with #Beautiful becoming platinum, being the highest paid TV judge in history, selling out stadiums overseas, MIAM selling nearly 300,000 copies worldwide with no promo, in a dying industry, and AIWFCIY selling and charting every year. Also, her divorce was among the most talked about topics on the Internet in 2014, being the top trending topic on Facebook for 48 hours when the rumors first surfaced. And of course, the Rockefeller performance. Going to Vegas would be Mariah willingly falling into irrelevancy with Celine Dion and Shania Twain. Mariah is better than that. Despite what some "fans" would say, Mariah still has an incredible voice and she is still a force to be reckoned with. Something tells me that this 25th anniversary will be special. Mariah's already losing a lot of weight (something she seems to do before every era) and like the Charmbracelet tour, she used TECS and the Christmas shows to clearly strengthen her voice and create buzz. Don't count her out. It's been 25 years, and I don't think Mariah will stop now.

Personally, I'd like to see a Greatest Hits album, featuring all hits, not just the Sony era, with a couple of new songs too. Also a third disc featuring songs that were written for all studio albums that never made the final cut. This to me would be a great way of saying thank you to her fans.

"From the looks of Mariah's new cover photo I think we might get a #1s album to celebrate her 25th. I don't really want one since she's only had 2 number ones since she released the last #1s." Excuse me, but Mariah had 5 more number ones since that album: Heartbreaker, Thank God I Found You, We Belong Together, Don't Forget About Us and Touch My Body.

From the looks of Mariah's new cover photo I think we might get a #1s album to celebrate her 25th. I don't really want one since she's only had 2 number ones since she released the last #1s. I'd be ok with it if she included some new songs, a videography, and maybe a concert video. If not then I don't think it's worth buying since most of us already have all these songs.
