Divorce? (46,211) by Alex from England I remember writing a few months ago in reply to all the people who were blaming Mariah for the lack of promo and everything, that Mariah is a very secretive person and she will always smile in times of hardships even if she is broken-hearted. If these rumors of divorce are actually true, I can only imagine what she's been going through emotionally for the whole year and it will once again prove that Mariah is not one of those celebrities that like to deal with their problems publicly. I hope that some people can once and for all remember that she is first and foremost a human being and that she has her reasons for whatever is going on (or not, promo for example) and we are not her close friends who have insight into whatever is happening in her life. This just frustrates me when people just gossip about other people, famous or not, just assuming they know them personally when they don't have a clue. Hopefully, this will teach a thing or two about respect as a whole to a couple people. I hope Mariah will be OK and find strength in her children and her friends. I am sad for her as she is probably scared of putting her kids through the same thing she did when she was a child (parents divorcing) but I am confident that, as the real and intelligent person that she is, she will find a way to make it as bearable for them as she can. May / Michele (Anti-Tour, Kylie, Forever Your Girl) (46,210) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines May, I love Kylie and think she's underrated. I'm also quite squeamish of her earlier material (though I love Enjoy Yourself and Let's Get To It). I think people usually dismiss her music for being throwaway and too commercial, but they probably haven't listened to Impossible Princess, Body Language, or her self-titled album. I read somewhere that she's like a lighter, fluffier, warmer version of Madonna, and I agree. And I like how she likes to mash things up in her tours. In 2005, she used the glorious intro from Stevie Wonder's classic Love's In Need Of Love Today to segue into her own hit Especially For You and it was awesome, and makes me. Mariah should incorporate samples, not just in the studio, but also in her tours. Michele, I know, it'd be great. Hearing her rarely/never performed songs live would be a new experience for everyone. About Forever Your Girl, it's funny because I really haven't lived through that era as I wasn't even born back then but I do love that album after discovering it out of curiosity. And yeah, if such staggering success could result from such a slow start, then who's to say Mariah can't duplicate that? (Friday 22 August 2014; 1:57)

Stacey, MIAMTEC lyrics (46,209) by enwar00 from usa I was just going to post how the lyrics have suddenly taken a different meaning in light of this news and then I read Stacey's post. We can never know for sure, but some of them just seem to fit. Especially Faded, and it makes me think of when she called Nick the abondoner. And Camouflage. Even Cry. and Thirsty. It's like the album has suddenly come to life, and if anything it resonates more, yet it's making me super sad to listen to it because the pain could have been current vs. in the past. I never really liked Nick (46,205) by jaker20 from US Truth be told, and I know this is all still fresh, but I never liked Nick. Starting from the fact that he took over MC's career and got way too involved. From being able to direct her videos, that just shows he's definitely had too much influence on her decisions. She was taken away by her love for him, and he took advance. Then MC helped him get that America's Got Talent hosting job. It's there for everyone to see, she's very instrumental in this, and I thought she's lost her mind. He was a nobody. But the last straw was him disrespecting her in interviews, and talking about everyone you slept with. They can separate if that is what he wants, but that's just uncalled for. I think we've all seen it coming for a while, but it's just horrible to think how painful this will be for her. She seemed like she had it all a few years ago. The lies that sell (46,203) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines The inflated album sales, exaggerated success stories, and false claims are (other than ego-boosting or face-saving devices) mostly promotional strategies. Never underestimate the power of overselling or overpromising in business. It's all salestalk - more "documented/certified success" actually raises interest in a certain product, and music is no exception. Marketers and promoters lie/assume/promise all the time. Buyers generally have this herd mentality, they're more inclined to buy what everyone else is getting, and these businessmen prey on that. Here in the Philippines, MIAMTEC covers have stickers that say "including the hits #Beautiful, You're Mine (Eternal), and Faded". I know, I cringed and shook my head at first read as well. If they can mostly get away with such easily refutable factual "errors", then they all the more can definitely exaggerate indefinite figures such as record sales. Not every potential customer is a knowledgeable fan, or at the very least a smart shopper. You'll be surprised at how many people are fooled by these claims. And it happens to every other artist out there as well. It's quite pathetic and makes the artists look desperate, but it works. (Friday 22 August 2014; 0:21)

I'm sorry to hear this, and am truly sad for them, because it makes me think of how happy Mariah was just 5-6 years ago after they were married. I do think compared to Mariah, it will be easier for Nick to move on. He's young, fairly rich and charming. Comparing to Nick with Robin Williams will be a mistake. Robin was in his 60s. He already passed the peak in his career and he probably had many reasons to be depressed over. He probably thought there isn't much left for him to live for. Which is sad. Yes, men can me very vulnerable. But I just think, and I stress on it that Mariah is "relatively" more vulnerable. She is gorgeous, she is filthy rich, but for some reason I feel she will be more miserable because this is her second marriage that failed and we all know she feels bad about her parents marriage not working out. Mariah's legacy (46,199) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales I've been thinking and feeling this for a while now so I thought I'd share it with you guys to see what you think. There is a vulnerability to Mariah's voice and lyrics that is missing in either Whitney or The Beatles, there is so no dancing skill to dazzle the audience like Michael Jackson and no chameleon ability to transform like Madonna. But I feel Mariah is greater than the aforementioned and the greatest artist of all time and here's why. Mariah can say more with a line of a song or intonation of voice than some can in a career of albums. She can appear so in control yet so distant from her own music at the same time. She appears confident yet unsure of her talent in the same sentence. In my opinion, Mariah is the closest to a "real" person than any artist ever. This diva stuff, it is the way I can imagine someone who pretends they have talent to act. Mariah has talent. The overuse of the voice is someone constantly trying to prove they have an incredible voice. Mariah's voice is the best. The lyrics that cry out "I just want to be loved" are sincere. Mariah is so close to how most people feel about this crazy life, to how they truly feel, confused and trying to make sense of life, that they berate rather than embrace her. Many musical genius have been condemned as throwaway in their lifetime. I believe Mariah's legacy will prove her worth, so I suggest not to worry about the future. Wow, so women who are older are automatically more vulnerable? I believe men can be just as (even more so, just look at Robin Williams' suicide last week) vulnerable to separations as women, regardless of age. I think that since Nick has made himself look like a fool with a motor mouth over the past several months, while Mariah has remained mum, there's a good chance that Mariah has a very good supportive network to help her through this. Nick and Mariah (46,196) by Stacey from USA I hope the rumors aren't true. If they do divorce, I hope it is on friendly terms. There are children involved. When you become a parent, it isn't about just you anymore. Another thing: There are two sides to every relationship. There are those who are going to automatically jump on the Mariah bandwagon and accuse Nick of causing the divorce. MC is just as much to blame. I've been married for 13 years. I know what I'm talking about. To begin a marriage it takes two people. To cause its end also takes those same two people. Because she changed it up a lot and her voice was flawed in it, but that made me love it even more. There were cracks here and there but it sounded so genuine, like she was feeling the song. I really like the ending she did in that version. I also liked the version she sang at Good Morning America, where she was wearing the sparkling powder pink/silver gown, right before singing #Beautiful. She changed up the song and especially the second verse and ending and I loved it. I like hearing changed versions live. (Thursday 21 August 2014; 20:09)

For the sake of the kids I hope it's not true, but if they are not happy together, there is no use forcing in on a relationship. I honestly thought around the beginning that MC and Nick was a mistake because he was years younger and immature and they got married just few weeks after meeting. But I was more than happy to be proven wrong and to see them together, so happy and so in love, I really did feel that they were meant to be together. I thought MC deserved it after years of being miserable. Now, if they are separating, I hope they do so on friendly terms and things don't get nasty. I do hope Mariah has a good support system around her right now because I believe she is going to be the more vulnerable one here, as she is after all a woman and she is much older. Nick is young and might be able to move on relatively easily. I remember long time back Mariah said that she wouldn't want to marry someone who is in awe of or loves "Mariah Carey" because that's not who she is (meaning at home she isn't the over-the-top diva and superstar). She said the person you see on posters and magazine covers is not really her so she would not want to be with someone who thinks of her like that. But love is weird and she ended up marrying exactly someone she said she wouldn't marry because NC always says MC is his "dream girl". He had a crush on "Mariah Carey". I wouldn't point fingers at anyone, I won't blame either of them. Atleast Mariah experienced love and happiness for a while. She deserved it and she has two beautiful babies, something she might not have had if she didn't marry Nick at that time. She might not have experienced the joy of being a mother at all. And NC seemed to be in love too and he seemed to take good care of her. So I hope people don't turn this into a circus. I am already seeing headlines like "She is difficult to live with" or "He has been cheating on her" or "She has been fooling around with younger guys" or "Nick's big mouth got them divorced". Yes, this_is_qhm (46,190) by May from Denmark I love Kylie. She is awesome and though her early stuff is very bubblegum pop, truth is that she has lots of really good songs and some amazing artsy and dark ones. I think the idea of an anti-tour for Mariah would be right on. She could even give the option for fans to vote from a list of unusual/B-side songs to make it to an official set list. Sometimes she surprises in her tour, makes tiny snippets, generally a capella of some very old songs or not ordinary ones but it would be so awesome to listen to a full concert consisting of just those she never either sang or sang just once. Looks like Mary J's notorious intro in It's A Wrap was actually taken to heart by MC afterall. Though I was not ecstatic about Nick in the beginning I grew to appreciate Nick and was happy that she finally got her "perfect family" that she always wondered about. enwar00 (46,185) by Gilbert from USA Yes, I picked that because she performed that in Tokyo and that was the year I really fell in love with her and it was with the original song when I saw the Fantasy music video. So if she were to do that I'd be in Heaven because I'll reflect back to that day. I felt the set list I chose was a pretty good choice and it was hard to add/remove songs because there is so many. I wanted to showcase songs that have really beautiful lyrics and songs that were personal to her and of course songs we haven't heard. As a fan and seen a few of her concerts it's usually always the same songs so it would be such a treat for all of us to be able to hear songs live that she hasn't performed before.
