Can someone please tell me how to post a video?
(Friday 1 August 2014; 1:55)
Billy from Greece (45,710) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Rude much? I didn't call Katy a saint. Check out my previous posts where I said that Katy has a habit of picking one sided fights with others to stay in the news. Which was in reference to the throwback comment and I was also one of the people who said that Katy indeed was being mean about Mariah in the throwback comment. All I said now is that in this music video, she didn't make fun of Mariah like we expected. Because it was rumoured to be a offensive. But all I got from the video was Katy saying she and her friends sucked at Mariah karaokes and a look alike impersonating Mariah, which was also not an offensive impersonation because Mariah does that move a lot in her videos, the "slight bend and touch" thing I mean. And they chose a person with a figure similar to Mariah's TEOM gig. You should know by now that nowadays Mariah parodies end up being very disrespectful like they saying she is "old" or using a heavy impersonator to make fun of her weight or to make fun of her cleavage display. In the Ariana Problem parodies, there are atleast 2 were Mariah has been brought up and in both case she was either called "82 years old" or "grandma". So comparatively this video was not offensive at all.

A frantic uproar (45,709) by Loris from Italy
The new Katy Perry' single is a frantic uproar, a really deplorable track. The reference to Mariah is not necessarily negative looking at the lyrics, but the way Mariah is portrayed, with the "touching her body" thing, is a bit unflattering, and anyway it's disrespectful to even mention Mariah's name on that dreadful thing that is This Is How We Do. It doesn't look like a nice homage to me.

Re: the "drama" (45,708) by Billy from Greece
Have you not seen the video where the "singer" under discussion throws major shade at Mariah calling her "fabulous for a throwback"? You don't have to be Einstein to read between the lines. Just look for that interview. I doubt the look-alike in the video is a shoutout.

The drama (45,707) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So all the rumors about Katy hiring a drag queen to make fun of Mariah got us all angry, however it turns out Katy is actually just praising Mariah, singing "day drinking at wildcats and sucking at Mariah karaoke". So we can all put down the flaming torches now. And I don't know if the person she used is a drag queen or not because it comes on screen for a split second and is so illuminated with lights that her face isn't quite visible. But the person pulls a good Mariah, with the TEOM figure and hair (long curls) and doing a little "touching of the body". So yes basically it's more of a shout out to Mariah's great voice than a diss. I guess the rumors were probably intentionally distributed to gain attention for the single. A few days back Mariah's YouTube page "liked" the lyrics video of the same song and I was like why would she do that when Katy is rumored to be dissing her, but oh well now we know. Mariah probably approves of the praise.

MOAIA / Katy (45,706) by Bill from the UK
This is qhm, I completely agree with your post about MOAIA. Ribbon is by far the best song on the album. However I prefer Languishing over Standing O. As for Katy, no big deal. It's not a dig at Mariah at all. In other news, been playing Till The End Of Time a lot lately. What a beautiful song.

This is how we do drama (45,705) by enwar00 from usa
Why exactly is it being viewed as this huge big negative drama that Katy Perry has a Mariah lookalike in her video? She references her in the song, which I thought was complimentary as it's staying that Katy and her friends are singing a Mariah Carey song on karaoke but they suck in comparison. To me it's light hearted song in general about having fun. So why not show her, or a lookalike, in the video to go along with the lyric, especially when there are so many other visual references in it as well.

Haters (45,704) by Billy from Greece
Remember that insidious blue-haired wannabe-singer who trashed Mariah on an Australian show a few months ago? Well, she has indeed included a lookalike of Mariah in her new video (as rumor had it), obviously taking a shot at her. Have you heard her speaking by the way? Her presumptuousness is just something else.

Ugh (45,703) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I'm thirsty. (haha *wink*) I guess if that got me fooled then I'm the stupid one who somehow got my hopes up enough to comment on a false rumor. I usually take everything online with a grain of salt but this was a momentary lapse. I guess I'm just ready to jump on any chance of reviving this era because that's how much I believe in the music. But I still think a re-release would be fine. Or better yet, a whole new album out next year, hopefully.

Songs that stand out (45,702) by Abraham from USA
The songs that stand out to me from the album are "Cry", "Dedicated", Make it look good", "You don't know what to do" and Meteroite". I also love "The art of letting go". I would have liked for it to be on the standard edition. And replaced "Supernatural" I just don't feel that song. I know dem babies sound so adorable, and that the song is special to Mariah. But I can't listen to it. I love "The art of letting go" so much better. That song speaks to me. Because "letting go ain't easy". "Cry" is a beautiful ballad. It gives me "Through the rain". "Dedicated" is my favorite song from the album. It's such a throwback to the 90's. And I love it. The "Oh baby you know" verses are my favorite. "Make it look good" is such an awesome song. It has that old 1960's motown sound to it. Which I love. "You don't know what to do" is a great up tempo song. Another "Say something". I think it could be a hit. "Meteroite" is a nice 1970's disco, dance type song. Love it. It reminds me of "Sprung". So I love this album.

Hey, glad you agree with the "Can't let go" comparisons with "Do you think of me". And yes, I also get "I don't wanna cry" vibe to it as well. The song is very deep and sexy indeed. It should have been released. I think you can purchase the song on amazon. On "Slipping away", I do agree that it's a more stronger song. But I just love Mariah's cover of "Open arms". I have so many that I would love Mariah to record. Not really a fan of "MOAIA". But I do like "It's a wrap". I think it's a good song. I'm with you on "MIAMTEC". I really like it. Better than "TEOM". Let's hope that Mariah does release more new music.

Press release (45,700) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
We all know Mariah's PR team likes to brag about Mariah's accomplishments, but when you read their latest press release, they have gone too far: "This year, Mariah released her fourteenth studio album, Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, which has received rave reviews globally from both the media and public. The key singles such as Faded, Dedicated (featuring Nas), #Beautiful (featuring Miguel), Make It Look Good and Camouflage have featured prominently on numerous music charts." I can't remember Faded, Dedicated, Make It Look Good and Camouflage being released as singles, let alone that they've "featured prominently on numerous music charts".

Fave songs from MOAIA (45,699) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I have a handful, but my top 2 would have to be: 1) Ribbon - I know many think it's overproduced, but it's one of the reasons I like it. The giftwrapping analogy in the lyrics actually comes off as cute rather than annoying. Love the vocal layering and appropriately "lazy" delivery. It stands out among all of the songs in that album because of its overall dark, almost grimy, sound that visually, would probably look like oozing purple/hot pink sludge, if that makes sense. Haha. The only other song of hers that utilizes a similar production is Side Effects, one of the highlights of E=MC2. I believe these songs are good examples of Mariah trying new things. 2) It's A Wrap - I love it when Mariah does something doo-woppy. It's not groundbreaking, and some may even deem it sleepy or even boring, but I don't think so, I mean it's still a bit bouncy and groovy for a downtempo number. Besides, it holds the finest vocal moments in the album, to which it serves as a great centerpiece. It (along with Betcha Gon' Know) are very situation-specific songs that not everyone can relate to, but paint such a detailed picture, it's hard not to be impressed at how vividly she captures those moments. They both have that earnest storytelling quality that's present in a lot of country songs. Lyrically, I find IAW quite amusing and I can see it as a scene acted out from a musical. Runners-up: Candy Bling, H.A.T.E.U., Betcha Gon' Know, Standing O. What are yours?

Mariah rumors on twitter, re release (45,698) by Justin from USA - Los Angeles
Those rumors about the deleted tweet about 9/9/14 are completely false and were started up by @nick8fo on twitter. He constantly posts false Mariah news. Anyways, on a more important topic, I think a re release of MIAM would be genius. It would give her a chance to get the GP to discover this gem. I think she should release the YDKWTD music video and release it to pop radio stations. Then make public appearances, just a few to get word out that the album is re releasing. And then announce tour dates. After the success of YDKWTD then release Thirsty as the second single, which would for sure garner success.

Thirsty and YDKWTD and other stand out singles (45,697) by Lainsky from Philippines
After listening to MIAMTEC for almost three months these are the stand out singles for me:
1. You Don't Know What To Do (I hope a video will come)
2. Meteorite (I hope they will release this too)
3. Thirsty (re-release is a good idea with a video)
4. One More Try (good remake I guess)
5. Heavenly (good ending release)
Money (good RnB release)
I heard Thirsty and YDWTD over 89.1 here in Manila. It feels great to hear MC songs over the radio. Timeless.

Thirsty and re-release (45,696) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I think releasing Thirsty will be a great idea. Coupled with a great video and persistent promotion, it can be a hit, especially since thanks to Dark Horse and Fancy topping the charts, r&b infused thug-love duets seem to be making a comeback. I hope it really takes off. I'm also excited for her re-release, especially dem new tracks, which I'm pretty sure will be tailored to be a bit more commercial than majority of MIAMTEC to lure more audiences. What worries me is that tweet she deleted moments after posting. Did she do that to tease her fans and stir up interest, or was she asked by her label to delete it because it won't be ready before September 9? I hope it's the former because I don't think this album will survive another pushback, I mean, it has already underperformed once. None of us want a repeat of that. No matter how great the music is, people tend to be fixated on success; so if this bombs, not only will it be a letdown considering the quality of the album, but we're also probably not gonna hear the end of it, especially online. Knowing Mariah, she would probably try to forget this and move on, but a re-release and a supporting tour would only prove how much she believes in this project despite the dismal start. I hope she learned from the past year and that she attacks this like it's 2002-05 all over again.

Re (45,695) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Abraham, you are so right about the CLG comparison. I'd throw a little IDWC in there too. It's just dark, sexy, and atmospheric. I like OA, I think it's one of her best covers, but it just feels a bit out of place on Daydream for me. I mean why tack on a cover if there's a perfectly competent original song that flows better with the entire album? Even critics were questioning its inclusion at the time. I think swapping it with SA would've made the album even stronger than it already is, and who knows, would've even won it the Grammy for Album of the Year. TJ, I appreciate Tommy's efforts in making Mariah the supernova that she is today and I think without him things would have turned out differently. But while I like that he kept her disciplined and showed her the ropes in the industry, I don't like how he stifled her personal and creative freedom to a point that she had to fight for her musical decisions to see the light of day. May, upon first listen of MIAMTEC, it was the most immediate connection I've felt from a Mariah album since TEOM, and in some aspects even Daydream. Like I posted here before, it's her first album where she sounds like a veteran artist who's finally come full circle. It says that regardless of commercial performance, no one can bear her at her own game. It plays like a great retrospective record, I mean there's at least one track to represent every era of her artistic evolution (pop to R&B to hip-hop to urban to most recently, retro soul).

Simply expressing, sharing thoughts (45,693) by May from Denmark
About how I felt when Nick and Mariah got together first I thought "who is Nick" haha, is that I only remembered him by a tv show from Nickelodeon. Like another poster mentioned, she looked so happy and so blooming I also felt so happy for her. I never really cared her personal life, just her music. Probably the first time I ever paid attention to her personal life was when she broke up with Luis Miguel. I used to like them together because they were both singers and since I wasn't into their whole relationship I simply smiled every time she appeared on a mag cover with him or on tv in the news looking happy in the beach with him. But one day I saw a cover mag where she was crying and going into her car. I actually felt so sad for her, it was the very first time I saw my idol so down, the next days all her pictures had her face looking gloomy and unhappy. Then went the down spiral. I'm not saying she will split from Nick Cannon, it's only suspicion, like I said before, the divorce rumors go back since forever. But some things lately look different. I do hope they stay together, because I don't want to see MC like in those days with LM, I want her happy and joyful. I guess also the reason why sharing this kind of opinionis and thoughts is because, I don't know you guys but I'm dying waiting for the next MC move, that video, new music and a probable re-release of MIAM. Still, can't let go those hints in Thirsty "You used to be Mr. all about we pull down them Tom Fords".

Marriage speculations (45,692) by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC
I know that we have to keep ourselves entertained until we know for sure what's going on next with this era but making assumptions about the Cannons' personal life is definitely not the answer. Whatever is popping off behind the scenes will soon be revealed if anything at all. Mariah was just with Nick and her in-laws house last week after the movie perimer with her butterfly ring and wedding band on the same finger. So honestly I think everyone should ease up and let the Cannons live their lives and we should focus on the music and the tour that is soon to come.

Nick (45,690) by Dove from USA
I had the same reaction when I found out they had gotten married; at first I was shocked but when I saw how happy she looked I was happy for her and the relationship grew on me. I started watching more of his shows and interviews and he seemed like a good guy that truly loved Mariah. There are reports that he cheated on her and a private investigater caught him on different occasions. If that's true, that he cheats on her, I don't like it. I don't think any woman should stay with a cheater because if he's cheating he doesn't truly love her as much as he says. If he's going to do that then he might as well stay single like George Clooney. Cheaters are selfish and don't understand or care how much their cheating hurts their partner. I hope it's not true but if it is I understand her wanting a divorce.

Nick (45,689) by Uninvited Guest from usa

Whether we like Nick or not Mariah loves him. All these rumors and talks don't mean nothing to them. Nick and Mariah is so past all this blog stuff. They are a real couple, it's not a Hollywood marriage, it's real life for them. I understand fans want to know and pick who's who and what's what, and what this mean but at the end of the day it's their life. I like Nick for Mariah and with Mariah so I'm happy for them. This interview Nick recently did helps to see Nick is a real dude.

The lose-lose situation (45,688) by Edward from USA
People have been trying to break them up before they even got married. I don't personally have anything against Nick, he sounds like a cool guy. With them it is a lose-lose situation though. No matter what they do, people will find something to pick on. When I was a kid, before I went to school one day, my father was having an argument with my mother, and I heard my loving mother say in a Latin soap opera style that only one of them would make it alive that day, I went to school worried to death because I thought I was going to find the police at home due to the a tragedy, yet I found my father giving my mother a back rub. They never got physical, but they sometimes had big arguments, they loved each other, and their marriage was over when my mother passed away 25 years later. Some childish things Nick has said about their relationship don't define their relationship. No press is bad press, if they are still talking about Mariah, it is because she still has some relevancy. So, let them talk. I know that we deep down want Mariah for ourselves only, we feel like Nick is this intruder who's keeping her from us, but Mariah is a control freak, I don't think Nick has any control over her.
