Buzzfeed article (39,999) by Licia from USA
I like this little piece. The author hit on some great point and I couldn't agree more.

Article (39,998) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I enjoyed reading the Buzzfeed article. The line "guess she shoulda wrote a song that finally finds out what rhymes with hug me instead" cracked me up lol. It's a shame that the music industry has changed so much that people with real talent are nowadays being overshadowed by "showy", over the top and talentless artists. I love MC's music, and I equally appreciate her classic songs along with her hip hop infused ones. People diss Glitter and all, I really don't get why. It has a lot of great songs (Lead The Way, Reflections, Never Too Far, If We, Loverboy). I hope her new CD comes with a bang. I desperately need more MC songs and I want MC on top of the charts again. Only she can do it!

Why isn't anyone paying attention to the new MC music? (39,997) by Jessie from USA

Drama (39,996) by B from USA
Personally, I dont understand why fans are debating if TAOLG is an offical single or not. I am just happy with the direction she's taking with the material. I love the old school, throwback sound. It worked for TEOM and I have a feeling it will work again. The reason #Beautiful didn't peak higher was the video. Mariah was styled by Andre Leon Talley from Vogue. During that era she looked classy and elegant. She needs to hire a stylist. Her ensembles of late have made her look top heavy like Dolly Parton. She needs to hire a new manager. And during interviews she needs to keep her answers short and simple. Maybe she's being negative because of issues between her and Nick.

What's up? (39,995) by Trish from USA
I'm worried something is up with Mariah. The lack of promotion for TAOLG is not like her, the lack of a video makes no sense. The interviews she did were rambling, sloppy and negative and it did not seem like Mariah was happy. Now she's disappeared from instagram, and Facebook since the 3am letter. I'm a huge fan, and I hope everything is okay, but I'm worried.

The new era would begin in 2014 (39,994) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I'm trying to be optimistic here. After a dismal performance of Triumphant, Almost Home, #Beautiful and TAOLG, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Mariah's big comeback after being a mother would begin in 2014. I really want Mariah to take her deserved break during this winter and enjoy watching her holiday songs climb the charts, and come back to launch her first single in January 2014 and drop the album in April 2014 (TEOM and E=MC2 were both released in April). This is my two cents.

Update / re: Mimi / managers (39,993) by nikki from usa
Almost Home is now at the end of The Great And Powerful Oz, Mariah's voice now starts when the credits roll. And Mimi yes, actually we do know it was for the fans as Mariah said so a million times. In every interview, and even on the Fallon show, that was the whole point. She was promoting her Q&A and wanted fans opinions on this. Brad is onto something there. Mariah had an injury and we were left without any new music. Yet the album isn't done and the Christmas season is upon us. This is the title track, so clearly it's on the album, but this isn't exactly a radio cut. At least Mariah doesn't think so, or she would have released it to radio. The fact is, due to injury, Mariah wasn't able to follow up #Beautiful and she still wants the fans to keep talking about this album. So she threw us a bone. She's not going to do a release this close to Christmas as that would compete with her season material. Evident by the fact she's performing at Rockefeller on the 4th and already recorded something for Micheal Buble's Christmas special. I don't blame MC for switching up managers for her new album. If it was Randy's idea to have radios spin #Beautiful for a full day, it was brilliant. But, with Mariah's injury putting her project on hold it makes sense that he would have to move on because he's still connected to AI. I'd like to see what JD has in store. I think it's impressive that TAOLG is bubbling under off sales alone.

#Beautiful remix video (39,992) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I wonder why MC decided not to release the video of the remix. If I remember correctly, Nick said that after the fall, he rushed to take MC to the hospital but she told him to stay back and finish the video. Then someone said that MC went back the next day and finished filming the rest of the video. A few days later some from her camp, or someone related to making the video tweeted that the video is almost ready or already ready and he can't wait for the fans to see it. So then what happened? I would really like to see it, I really enjoyed the hip hop remix.

TAOLG as an axed cut (39,991) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. I was thinking that perhaps TAOLG is an album cut that the label didn't want included on the album since it might be about Tommy. So, because it's meaningful to MC, she decided to let it see the light of day on her own, outside of the album's release. The timing is good for such a thing as she knows it will get buried by impending holiday music and then next year she can focus on the actual release of the album itself. You will note that Island/Def Jam sent out no publicity or "buy push" for this single and there was no release to radio, so maybe this is why. This is just a theory in light of a hope that there is a forthcoming album and that it will have a cohesive, accessible artistic vision and committed marketing effort from her and the label. Anyhow, hope all those lambs in the USA have a festive, pip and enjoyable Thanksgiving with their family and friends. Be well.

Single or not (39,990) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lamb_O_Chop, you should just calm down a little, ok? I get it that you have your strong opinions, so do I and a lot of people on this message board. Majority of the people agree that it was a single meant to promote the album. And TAOLG was meant to be on this album, Mariah has said so herself. Why the song was not released to the radios and accompanied by a video is the mystery everyone has been wondering about. And yes, "Never forget you" didn't have any music video. Quote from Wikipedia: "No music video was commissioned for the album version or any of the remixes, making it Carey's first commercially released single not to be accompanied by a video." And who is to say that this is her lead single? #Beautiful was supposedly the lead single and it did moderately well enough to be on the album. You "believe" it was meant for the fans, you don't "know for sure". None of us do. We're not from her camp. I am a huge MC fan, but if I see a flaw I won't just overlook and justify it. I want her to always stay #1. And she has managed to do so for 18 years (uptil 2008). I want her to come back with a bang like TEOM. But something seems to be wrong. So we can only hope that when time comes and MC finally releases the album, the whole system is super organized.

Single or Not? (39,988) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Okay so the debate for me wasn't really over it being a single. Ofcourse it's "technically" a single. It was whether it was meant to be this huge commercial single or whether it was just a song released to the public to tie the fans over until the official "album pushing" song is released with a video to back it up. When has Mariah ever released an "official" lead or second lead single without a video to back it up? I'm just saying. So yes it's a single that can be downloaded, but what was the intent? Did they do the radio deal to push it? Does she have a video scheduled to push it?Why would she do ten videos for #Beautiful and not one to push her second proper album pushing lead single? There's no logic behind that. It wouldn't even make sense for the label to do that if they wanted her to push the album. So unless Mariah herself comes on here and says otherwise. I maintain that her intent for TAOLG was for it to tie the fans over until the album is ready. I bet her next song she releases close around the album will have the single treatment and accompanying videol like #Beautiful did.

TAOLG about Mottola (39,987) by Eternal from Italy
As posters before me have already mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised if TAOLG was really about Tommy Mottola. Read here some extracts of his autobiography about Mariah. I guess for MC to feel such feelings even after 15 years shows that he really had a domineering influence over her ("just a brief little reminder to help myself remember I no longer live in your dominion").
He launched her rise to the top and crafted her downfall to breakdown ("somebody you used to know is flinging your world around and they watch as you're falling down"). And in his memoir, he even dared to make it sound as if his obsession with her was the ultimate key to her success ("your audacity is too much to be believed"). That's why it is the art of letting go, letting go of her own feelings towards her ex I guess, and to be immune to what he may say. Of course, we're all just guessing but since Mariah said this song was very "personal" to her, this just seems like the most plausible reason.

Webmaster / TAOLG (39,986) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes, thank you, that was the point I was trying to make. If Mariah said she wanted her fans to hear just her voice over the piano (I probably missed that quote) she just probably meant that she finally gave the fans what they have been asking for, because recently everyone has been complaining that her songs are dominated by rappers and all. Fans wanted her to belt out a "classic Mariah" and that's what she did. As for the part that she never performed it anywhere, there are previous singles which weren't performed anywhere, not just by Mariah, but in case of other artists as well. If the song was a gift to just her fans, she wouldn't bother giving interviews to promote it, she could have just mentioned it on her twitter and facebook, which have more than enough followers. It does hurt me that the song didn't do good, it was raw and heartfelt. (I even liked Triumphant.) So like it or not, it was a single, it was probably meant for her album, but there is a chance it might be just turned into a stand alone single like Triumphant and maybe #Beautiful. There's no need to start a war on this.

Re: Lamb_O_Chop (39,984) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
The Art Of Letting Go is considered a single. Here is what Wikipedia writes: "The Art Of Letting Go is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey that was released on November 11, 2013, as the second single from the album of the same name." Here is what Rolling Stone wrote on November 11: "Pop singer Mariah Carey released a new single today." Here is what Billboard wrote: "After much anticipation, Mariah Carey releases her latest single." Here is the definition of a single: "In music, a single or record single is a type of release, typically a song recording of fewer tracks than an LP record or an album. This can be released for sale to the public in a variety of different formats. In most cases, the single is a song that is released separately from an album, but it usually appears on an album. Often, these are the most popular songs from albums that are released separately for promotional uses such as digital download or commercial radio airplay, and in other cases a recording released as a single does not appear on an album." Whether you like it or not, but TAOLG is a single in every sense of the word. I can understand you don't want to call it a single because it flopped, but whether a single flops or reaches number 1, it remains a single.

Lamb_O_Chop (39,983) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am not among the people who are calling it a flop. I even wrote before that I liked it. So please don't just assume things. I am not "trying to make it a flop", I don't represent the world. The Fallon performance was Fallon's idea, not Mimi's. What I am saying is that the song was meant to be a proper single, but for some reason the label dropped it cold. I love Mimi as much as you, but you can't just overlook the fact that recently her management has been bad.

TAOLG lyrics (39,982) by Elena from The Netherlands
Some people doubt that this song is about Tommy because it's relatively too long ago to still have issues about him. Within the past four years Tommy released his autobiography where he talks about Mariah. He also did some interviews about the book and they all asked about Mariah's part in the book. She didin't really respond to it publicly, so I believe she blew off some steam on this song. It's still haunting her in a way. The "lies" she refers to are probably about the parts in the book and the interviews Tommy did. He also pushes the part where he build her career and I think she feels frustrated about it because she has continuously tried to defend herself from her Cinderella image and that she wouldn't be succesful without him. She also really wants people to know that she writes and produces her own songs so badly because she wants credit for her own success, which I understand. The song is about him but maybe also about her sister Alisson whom she doesn't speak to untill this day and she is legally not allowed to speak about her in public. So I can understand why she would still express her anger and sadness about this in her songs, bacause it's the only way for her to still talk about this in a sense.

Ariana Grande giving me nostalgia (39,981) by Matthew from USA
Ariana Grande went on stage at the AMA's in a sparkling red gown. She sang a simple ballad with almost no production or background noise. It was beautiful. Everyone is raving about the performance online, and the song will be her next single. It made me happy, because it reminded me of when Mariah would just walk out on stage and sing. It also made me sad, because I can't remember the last time she did that. And the impromptu performances where she is riffing and making up lyrics as she goes along does not count. Come out on stage in a nice dress, let the applause die, let the lights go low, then sing a song from start to finish live. Then watch as the single goes to #1. It should be so easy to do, but there's bales of hay to lie down on, Versace dresses to pop out of, rappers to make you feature on your own song, spinning set pieces and props and overbearing production and camera angles to get just right and beaded and feathered slings. Lol. I guess when you are The Voice it's not so easy to just come out and sing the damn song. We know she can do it. But the rest of the world needs reminding every now and then. That type of live performance is what makes record labels willing to spend money on you.

[...] (39,980) by Edouard from USA
Someone have posted here before, I guess a guy from Singapore who claimed he has connections on To Mariah's team. He did said alot of "debatable" stuff about MC and her team, but I guess he is making sense now. Nobody believed him, I once doubted his words. But I guess his sources were legit. I hope he could give us more info of what to expect of this era. I remember him saying that before Christmas MC will release something (song) accompanied by a gimick re her marriage or anything that will be a talk of a town. Then redirect to the Christmas catalog. He did mentioned too that MC is currently in trouble with IDJ management and that album was on hold until legal acts had its toll against "breaching of contract". I guess he is correct.

Mimi L. from Bangledesh (39,979) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Mariah said it was for the lambs that wanted to hear her sing over a piano with just vocals. The better question would be: what makes you think it was meant to be a huge single when she never mentioned anything about a video and hasn't performed it anywhere, but for who? The lambs in an intimate environment on Jimmy Fallon. Who does that when they really want a song to be huge? I'll wait. She released it to iTunes so it'll be available to the fans or whoever else wanted it. The song obviously hasn't been given the single treatment because it's simply wasn't meant to be an official single. I don't have to justify anything, the proof is in the pudding darling. So stop trying that make it a flop, how about that?

Arianna / AMA (39,978) by B from USA
Arianna is trying to be Mariah. The big hair, the big voice, and the sequins. She's an impersonator. She's not as good as Mariah was, but she is good. She seems to like being compared to MC. Her dress was a red version of Mimi's silver ensemble from the GMA performance. She has good taste or her manager does, lol. She to find her own voice and stop immatating MC. Often immitated, never duplicated.

Mariah Carey and TAOLG (39,977) by Terna from Nigeria
[...] I deduce that this song is about Tommy. She talked about a certain emotion being strong and present on the track when she was interviewed on CNN. Well, its definitely [...] I sense as I listen, [...] too. It's just as [...] as the whole Memoirs album was. Tommy must've hurt her real bad for her to still be dwelling on it after all this time. She even seems different now. That carefree spirit she had kinda like a child is not really there anymore, she even said so herself something about the Industry.

Lamb_O_Chop (39,976) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Who told you it was released "for the fans"? We need to stop justifying the horrid management/promotional arrangement of this era by saying repeatedly that Mariah released it for the fans. She did interviews with CNN and other well known shows to promote the song, then she also went on Fallon, the single was released in iTunes and given a single treatment right up until it was released. Right after that she went cold with it. Now there is no word on it. If she meant it for the fans, as a gift, she would have just said it. And obviously if she will release the album in February 2014, she needs to release singles to fill up the gap after #Beautiful. So nope, TAOLG was a proper single, but people in her camp are somehow screwing this era up. As for the video, Mariah previously released commercial singles without videos.

Edward (39,975) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I totally agree. At this point it is obvious that her relationship with IDJ is beyond strained. I think both parties know that it's over. It's her last album on her current deal. She won't re-sign, they won't promote her. There are clear creative differences too. I've always thought IDJ to be a Mickey Mouse label in any event, so I understand Mariah's frustrations. At the same time, Mariah needs to be more savvy and make better decisions. Bad decision making and a broken relationship with a label is not what Mariah needs right now. To me, Mariah seems lost at this point in her career. She doesn't seem like she has clue re what direction to take, 3 managers in a year is a clear indicator. Two of the managers are her long time friends, again a questionable decision. I know everyone will say, she's survived this many years, knows better than us, blah blah blah. It's all bullshit, she clearly doesn't have a clue. We all lose our way with regards to our careers in certain respects. Mariah is no different. Mariah needs to strip back, re focus and start again. She needs a whole new team, and people who can say no. This past 18 months have been horrible.
