Bad songs (39,129) by Bill from the UK
Lol, the songs people are listing are some of my favourites and I am sitting here with my mouth agape at some. To me, Last Kiss was the best thing on E=MC2. Equally, Emotions is one of her better albums in my opinion, and I love every track, particularly the lesser heard songs like And You Don't Remember, Til The End Of Time, The Wind etc. I agree that Everything Fades Away is one of the best things she ever wrote, so atmospheric, moody, chilling and spooky. As for album covers, Memoirs and Rainbow were both horrific, Glitter seemed too photoshopped and manufactured. I don't think the debut album looks like her. I think her mouth is the wrong shape, and wish the cover had been the Vision Of Love "S figure" with her holding the mic used on the back. I love the covers for Music Box, Emotions, Merry Christmas and Daydream. I also dislike her fake extended ankles on #1's. It looks stupid when you compare her legs to the Fantasy cover.

Mariah Carey (39,128) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
My favorite songs on the worst albums are "I wanna know what love is" from MOAIA, "Against all odds" on Rainbow, and "If it's over" on Emotions. And I completly agree with the one that said that "Makin' it last all night" is one of the worst songs in history. I actually don't know why I bought that deluxe version of that TEOM, I just wanted it all from that era. I have all the singles from TEOM on vinyl. The songs I like to skip on every listening of every album, is "Vision of love", "And you don't remember", "Hero", "One sweet day", "Fouth of July", "How much", none on Glitter, "Through the rain", "Shake it off", "I stay in love", every song on MOAIA umtill "I want to know what love is". My obeservation on how Mariah's [...] image is, and that is a section I miss on Wikipedia, there's no section about her [...] image, and how it is receved, at least here Norway, is that yes, she is a great singer, but that is not I enough. Here in Norway, [...] tend to like smart [...], and hate stupid [...]. In America I have a perception that [...] love a star even though she is peceived as stupid, only they are beautiful. I am not saying at all that Mariah is stupid, I in my opinion thinks she is a smart business woman, and have a [...] persona as a bit naive [...] girl sometimes.

Worst album cover (39,127) by Anonymous from
I completely hate the Memoirs cover (I can't stand it), TEOM isn't one of her best too. And my favs are: Butterfly, Greatest Hits, The Remixes.

Songs I skip (39,125) by Pablo from Spain
Every album it seems has at least one song that I don't like at all, except her debut album and surprisingly Glitter. Emotions is my least fave album, and I only listen to Can't Let Go, Make It Happen and So Blessed. On Music Box, I skip Dreamlover and Hero (I know!), On Daydream: Underneath The Stars. Butterfly: Fourth Of July. Rainbow: Bliss. Charmbracelet: Through The Rain TEOM: Your Girl. E=MC2: Last Kiss. Memoirs: most of the album. My fave albums are Butterfly and E=MC2. I've been a fan since "Without You".

Bad songs, perhaps (39,124) by Critter from USA
Even a bad Mariah song beats most of the songs played on radio today. With that said, I tend to skip the ones where Mariah uses both full voice and whispery voice even in a same sentence of a song. Am I saying I would wish for Mariah to belt all the time? No. But there is a long period that Mariah tends to swing between full/whispery voice in most her songs. For instance "After tonight", (I know a lot of you may go like what?), she would go full voice with "af", and then suddenly whisper "ter tonight", and full voice with "will", whisper "you remember me". These days she still does it, but I feel it's smoother, or at least not in a middle of a sentence. Oh well. Maybe it's just me.

Bad songs / covers (39,123) by Will from Australia
I completely agree with The Webmaster - EFA is flawless and I've always hoped she would record a similar track to that again, Looking In would be the closest effort. There are lots of songs I have to skip, mainly the early mid tempo songs - "Sent from up above" and "To be around you". I was thinking the other day about covers Mariah has recorded and how they've mostly been 80s. The rise of Idol and X Factor etc have kinda killed the cover genre, but it's still possible to pull it off and I'd love Mariah to try cover a 90s or even more recent track and out a different take on it. Bon Jovi Always or something unpredictable like November Rain by GnR. She could actually release a covers album at this stage, 9 albums have all had a cover - "I'll be there", "Without you", "Open arms", "Beautiful ones", "I still believe", "Do you know where you're going to", "Against all odds", "Last night a dj saved my life", "Bringin' on the heartbreak", "I wanna know what love is".

2013 Mariah, part 2 (39,122) by CDC from CA
On Diana Ross: They sure don't make 'em like that anymore. If anyone has the chance, take a look at Diana in the 1970's. She really was the first diva of goddess like proportions. There was no greater star. My previous post was to point out how much Mariah has become more known for her public persona than her music. I'm almost confident that most young people would respond to the name "Mariah Carey" with a finger wave and a screeching high note, rather than humming the tune of #Beautiful.

Re: Bad songs on good albums (39,121) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Maybe I'm weird, but I think Rainbow is Mariah's best album and Did I Do That is the best song on that album. My all time favourite Mariah song by far is Everything Fades Away. That's the song I want to be played on my funeral.

Bad songs on good albums (39,120) by Bill from the UK
Do you all have any songs on albums you like which you skip? There are only a few I don't listen to. They are:
1. Did I Do That from Rainbow
2. Boy (I Need You) from Charmbracelet
3. Makin' It Last All Night from TEOM
I would actually go so far as to say number 3 above is one of the worst songs I have ever heard.

You know what? I was just thinking about the same a couple of days ago. I was actually on Wikipedia reading about ms Ross, and my thoughts went to the fact that MC and Diana do like to be the diva. It's true.

How could I forget? (39,118) by RadChad from United States
"Crybaby" from Rainbow. That's actually the song I revisit the most from that album, this song is very cool. I loved MC collabos with Snoop, it always ends up a cool mellow groove. Not to scare or upset you all, but did anyone read a story about MC having gone deaf recently. I'm confident that there's no truth to this, at least I strongly pray not. I really can't wait until she fully recovers and start back promoting the new album.

New album (39,117) by MC#1 from USA
I want lyrics written by Mariah herself and for her to use every part of her glorious range. She's still got the best voice I've ever heard even if it's not what it aint once was.

Re: CDC (39,116) by Billy from Greece
Hi there. I'm with you on the Diana Ross reference. I have in fact made a similar observation before. I love Diana Ross, and not only has Mariah numerously stated how Ross has been an influence, but I also find it really interesting the way MC channels her in her own work in a distinctive way. Their career stories also bear similarities, with the male dominating mogul figure being one, and how they longed to be in charge of their professional and personal lives. Performance-wise, in terms of what it means or takes to be a diva, Ross has been the archetype, and Mariah learned from the best, only she is an original herself as well. That's why they blended so well on Divas 2000. From various comments throughout the years, it is also clear that Mariah is cognizant of Ross's career (she even twitted he lyrics of "Home" not so long ago) and I'm sure it has functioned as a guide for dos and donts. As for Diana Ross's 1980s work, you also got it on point, and I have to say that she was fantastic during that period, kutschy and all.

Favorite song on least favorite album (39,114) by 123 from USA
Rainbow and Glitter are my least favorite albums, however, Thank God I Found You/Make It Last Forever Remix is her best remix imo. Genius. On Glitter, I loved Loverboy and the video. I also really identified with the lyrics on Reflections - Care Enough as Mariah calls it. My least favorite vocals were on Charmbracelet, I felt it was full of album cuts, however the writing on that album was one of her best. I always said it would have been 10x better if sung in full voice. Subtle Invitation - jazzy, Clown - classic diss record, You Had Your Chance - great lyrics to an ex whose "someday" came. Lullaby, to that one whom will always hold a place in your heart. I didn't care much for Butterfly, but my fav song is on that one, "The Roof" is a lyrical masterpiece.

2013 Mariah (39,112) by CDC from CA
Was anyone here alive during the 1980's? I was dusting off some of my old 80's cassette tapes, which got me thinking about the stars of that period, and their modern-day parallels. I remember my parents being mammoth fans of Frank Sinatra, but I considered him archaic and insignificant while I blasted my Madonna and Culture Club records on my plastic boom box. Does anyone feel that this is how The Beatles are perceived by the Bieber-Rihanna generation? Lady GaGa is an obvious hybrid of Madonna, who, in her glory days, was not only the mascot to teen wannabes, but also was quite brassy in pushing her music as "art". Then I got to thinking about Mariah. From what I've put together, Mariah is seen as the Diana Ross figure of the new millennium music industry. The veteran diva whose presence (and fanfare it generates) towers above everyone else. An uber-trendsetter in her day whose influence is well embedded in the young-ins. Has grown progressively catty towards the current chart forces. In the 80's, Diana Ross was still among pop elite, though her musical output was largely uneventful. Does anyone else see these similarities?

You really need to check the facts. Wild N Out was never cancelled. Nick stopped the show because it was too expensive for the network to put on. He let it fade out at its peak and he took time to focus on his new marriage. The show was brought back by popular demand. Nick created and executive produced that show long before he met Mariah and give him some credit for being one of the hardest working men in showbiz. He certainly hasn't sack on his back side getting fat and collecting child support checks like KFed.

New album (39,110) by Anonymous from
I think the new album will have the same format as before. A lazy layback album like Memoirs. And the first single is the second song on the album, like always. It's great, but we need a kick ass album like TEOM, not just a regular kind of album like Mariah always does. Predictable. Well, I still love Mariah and my favourite albums are TEOM, Daydream, Music Box and MC.

Dude, he has had kids with the woman. And is still there with her and taking care of the kids. It's been 5 years. Get over it. Nick is doing big things with or without Mariah. You are the only one that thinks Nick may be up to no good.

Let me explain (39,106) by Anonymous from
"Rollin' With Nick Cannon", a weekday morning show on New York radio station 92.3 Now. On August 11, 2011, "Rollin' With Nick Cannon" sidekick Southern Sarah Lee revealed on the show that Cannon broke up with Scherzinger to be with Carey, whom he married in 2008, after a whirlwind courtship of just a few months. As Lee tells it, the breakup conversation began with Scherzinger and Cannon saying that they each had something important to tell each other. Scherzinger said she wanted to go first, and she confessed to Cannon: "I'm in love with you." Cannon had something entirely different to tell Scherzinger: he was dumping her to be with Carey. I'm not saying he isn't good looking or that I don't want her to be happy, I just hope he is sincere. By the way, it's very uncommon for a cancelled show to be given a second chance, especially years later.

Well, my least favorite Mariah albums are "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" and "Charmbracelet". And my favorite songs from these albums are for MOAIA: "Ribbon", "Angel (Prelude)", "Angels Cry", and "Obsessed", and for Charmbracelet: "Bringin' on the Heartbreak".

Ben Margulies (39,104) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
It's very unlikely Ben and Mariah will ever work together again. In this biography you can read why: Much had changed in their relationship since the release of her first album. She now found that his back was turned to her. Not long after Mariah and Ben had teamed up, Mariah had impulsively signed a contract with Ben that would entitle him to half the proceeds she made from any recordings involving his material. With the success of the debut album, he was already making substantial money off the songwriting royalties. But now, Ben was uncharacteristically pushing for more, what he felt was his contractually. The conversations between the writing partners were not angry, but they were strained at times. Ben quietly pointed out that she had agreed to the terms of the contract, and that he had not twisted her arm. Mariah did not deny she had willingly signed the contract but felt that Ben was asking for too much and tried to persuade him to not press the issue. He refused. At that point, Sony's lawyers stepped in, and after a long and often bitter court battle that dragged on for over a year, both sides reportedly agreed that Ben would receive ten percent of Mariah's earnings over the next ten years. Mariah would look back on the falling out with Ben as a painful learning experience. "Be careful what you sign," she said in a Q magazine interview. "I heard that a thousand times. But when you're struggling, you still do it. I blindly signed." In the aftermath of the court battle, Ben would discuss the situation diplomatically, putting the lion's share of the blame on the record label and saying that he hoped Mariah and he would work together again in the future. "Hopefully, art will prevail over business," he said. The reality was that a five-year friendship and creative partnership that had produced some wonderful music had been destroyed. The two never worked together again.

Completely agree with Mariah's more #1's (39,103) by Can Özdilek from Turkey
I completely agree. I am most saddened for "Loverboy". If it had climbed the top spot, all her problems regarding "Glitter" could have been avoided. I am also surprised how "Can't Let Go", "Without You", "Endless Love" could not be charttoppers either, considering they were released during Mariah's most successful era, "Without You" being her most successful international hit. We can forgive "Shake It Off" as it was blocked from the top spot by Mariah's own "We Belong Together", but how about radio-only singles "Butterfly", "Breakdown", "Underneath the Stars", "Forever", "Sweetheart" and "When You Believe", while both Mariah and Whitney were at the top of their game? Shame.
