Favorite album (39,026) by Critter from USA
My favorite album since the Millennium has to be TEOM. As for songs, I just love "Languishing". BTW. I like to listen to songs in random order on my iPod. And last week, I heard "Now That You Know", "Joy To The World remix" and "Chain of Fool" with Aretha. I haven't heard it in a while and they are still so great. Cheers.

Favorite album (39,025) by Gilbert from USA
Hi guys and gals. For me to be honest my favorite song and favorite album always changes, I think in our lives we always feel most connected to a particular song or album. I went through some heartache with someone during the time E=MC2 came out then "4 the record" became one of my favorite songs, because I felt connected to it. Then later an old flame or so I thought came around, and with Memoirs HATEU became one of my favorites from the album. Because we all feel like that at one point. When you're happy and feel in love, you have all her songs that just make you feel warm inside. I wonder what song I'll connect to when she releases "The art of letting go". On another know, I've always loved "Betcha Gon' Know", to me that's a very powerful song. I bet with some good talent she could've made that an excellent music video. "So I pulled to the side of the road to fix my face."

My fav album? (39,023) by Will from England
Has to be CB. IOW is the best song on that album IMO. Yes, it's short, but the lyrics are her best since The Roof, "farewell fair weathered friend, abandonment returns to taunt me again". Brilliant. It wasn't really a "singles" album, it needed to be heard in its entirety and it's a very easy album to listen to. I'm glad to see people have something good to say about MOAIA. I l.o.v.e. this album to pieces. Again, some sounded very similar to each other (Obsessed and Standing O), but it had its little gems like Candy Bling and HATE U. To me, Languishing was the Looking In of that album. It always makes me laugh how some fans ask her not to do rap collabs, when she gave us an entire album feature-free.

Yes, CB was a $9.99 therapy session. Lol. Everybody always says they have that one Mariah album where they really connected to the music. I never had that happen until CB came out. For me it wasn't about the belting or the whispering, it was the words that she sang. I felt every word.

Underrated albums (39,020) by RadChad from United States
Deedre: You post was completely on point, I don't think I could've broken down that album any better (shout out to "Candy Bling" that's my joint). All I know is that I still bump Memoirs untill this day, and will never understand why the fans (especially) slept on it. Geraldine: If you lying you flying, totally agree. E=MC2 is my least favorite album as well (though I do enjoy a few songs from it), it's the album I feel the most disconnection from. Memoirs was a huge step up from E=MC2 IMO, but unless she's belting every syllable , people won't ever recognize it. Lica: Thanks for your post. Charmbraclet to me was one of her most intimate albums, it pretty much felt like a therapy session, which is why I always felt so connected to it especially during that era. Allan: Exactly. People forget how much Mariah has musically given us more than many other artist has given there fans. Mariah is Mariah and doesn't need to pattern herself after any other divas. Breaking the mold is why she's still here.

Favorite Mariah albums 2000-2013 (39,019) by clueey23 from USA
My favorites, I love them all but in this order:
1. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. This album just sounded so inspired and real.
2. Charmbracelet
3. The Emancipation of Mimi platinum
4. Glitter
5. E=MC2
6. The Remixes. Even though songs like "Crybaby" and "Breakdown" weren't remixes. And to me that is a perfect example of the label not listening to MC because I know she would've included the "Breakdown/Mo Thugs" and also "The Roof" with Mob Deep. Just saying.
I bought "Greatest Hits" but I already owned everything that was featured on this double album. I didn't purchase "The Ballads" because I already owned all of the featured material on this album. I didn't understand this release. I wish instead of "The Ballads", the contract obligation should've been made to release "The B-Sides/Unreleased". That would've been great.

Memoirs (39,018) by Sasha from Nomansland
From my point of view, Memoirs is a far more better album than its predecessor, because at least there is a homogeneity between the songs and the sound is more mature. I might be the only one who don't like E=MC2, but for me this album is kind of a melting pot of everything and nothing, no cohesion in it. I felt exactly the same about Rainbow. That beeing said, I think Cruise Control is a great song and could have been a big summer hit.

Donna Summer was a singer/songwriter and wrote a big percentage of her songs.

Favorite Mariah albums 2000-2013 (39,015) by Allan from pennsylvania
If I asked a favorite album from Mariah over the past 13 years, the majority of you would say The Emancipaton Of Mimi. But is there anyone who had a favorite other than that?

Mariah Carey is a legend (39,014) by Allan from pennsylvania
I see so many comments in these messages saying what Mariah needs to do with her music. Mariah has been in this business for over twenty years, does anyone honestly think she worries about Katy Perry or Gaga releasing new materia? My point is, Mariah has nothing prove to anyone, her longevity speaks for itself. This woman has given us so much material over the years, yet we continue to criticize her for everything she does ie music, albums, videos, live shows, yet we are never satisfied. In terms of chart performances, Mariah is never going to see the glory years like she did back in the 90s, those days are over. I give Mariah props for being a married woman of two, yet she still continues to stay in the spotlight, so what if we have to wait a little for her next. Would you rather get a rushed album or wait for something that's going to be good? We don't see how even after she injured her arm she still gave performances and traveled even if it met dressing the arm up in a sling. To say all this, my point is, can't we appreciate the fact that she has given us so much and to be satisfied that she still producing music? How many of these current singers will be around in twenty years?

I hear alot of people blaming Mariah's videos for the reason why her songs fail. What are some of her best and worst music videos?

You all better preach. With the exception of a few songs, I'm not fond of the Memoirs album (love love love CB though), but your points were spot on. Radchad, I couldn't have said it better about the injury and the new album.

Randy RadChad MOAIA (39,011) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I'm so glad to read your comments. For a long time I've read how much fans dislike the album. I love it. Hate U is lyrically brilliant and probably my fave track on the album. Those boxing metaphors are so eloquent and I can't descriibe what it is, but her voice sounds so beautiful throughout - very angelic. Obsessed is just plan fun, Becha is unlike any R&B track she's done. Angels Cry is often on repeat for me. "More than just friends" always makes me smile, because so much of Mariah's personality is in those lyrics - so funny plus the layering musically in there if freaking awesome it sounds retro but current at the same time. Her ability to seamlessly make Cindi Lauper's "Time after Time" a part of "Inseparable", well for one I don't think it is understood how much foresight that takes to pull off and still be original. The Impossible again very clever lyrically sounds current and yet reminiscent of an album like 1993's "Janet", yet it's Mariah's song without being a rip off of Janet. I don't like the video for IWTKWLI, but the cover itself is solid. Ribbon and "It's a wrap" are both fun summer-like tracks. And Languishing is breathtaking for me. I think Memoirs is her most underrated album. I don't think she whispers the whole album either. JMO.

Being straight up (39,010) by Jeanette from USA
First of all, I was bashing Memoirs. I just don't care for it. I respect Mariah for the artists she is, but I am a brutal honest person. I feel that if you look at Whitney, Celine and Donna, they didn't wear clothes and make songs that you expected an 20 year old to do. The music industry is changing and unless in my opinion Mariah gets with it, I don't see this era being an success. Whitney, Celine and Donna yes, they made not have wrote their songs, but they're successful in their own right. Whitney and Celine both won album of the year (which I believe Mariah should have won with Daydream of TEOM) and Donna is the queen of disco. So to down play these women success to me is an insult.

Thank you Randy / new album (39,009) by RadChad from United States
I'm beyond tired of people bashing Memoirs (and Charmbraclet) which were both great albums IMO (musically and lyrically especially). Folks get on here and complain about the rap features when (like you said) Memoirs had no features, then they complain that she should only make songs that fits her current voice, yet they complain/hate when she sings in the whispery register etc. etc. Mariah is that diva that's young at heart, she still looks great for her age (not that she's really that old anyway), she loves hip/hop flavored songs, she wants people to bump and jam to her music. This is what she does, I'm not understanding why people are mad. I mean, there will be mature ballads on the album, the vocals will be strong (Almost Home, Triumphant Pulse Remix), let's get a grip. In general: Can we just wait for her arm to completely heal first and for the album to be released first, before we go in. It makes people seem very insensitive and selfish when someone (they're supposed to love) is down/hurt and all you can do is be mad at them for accidentally falling and that the album is not out yet. I'm just saying.

Jeanette (39,008) by Randy from USA
Memoirs was an awesome album. You can't deny the metaphors and lyrics on Up Out My Face, Obsessed and It's a Wrap. The lyrics on Languishing. The catchiness of Obsessed and Becha Gon Know sounds like nothing she's ever done before. I'm tired of people bashing that album, which had no guest stars so she wasn't trying to be hip. And that ended on ballads.

I love Rihanna, but she is still not Mariah Carey. She may have 12 #1 records, but I don't know the name of all of them, nor are any that memorable, with the exception of "Umbrella". I own all of Rihanna's and Beyonce's material, but their albums are like filler compared to a MC album. Mariah is a class act, a throw back to the days of a piano and a mic, when a record company cared and taught their artists how to be. Whereas, Madonna, Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy always have to put on a crazy show to entertain the public. I would be so disappointed if MC started walking around in clown makeup to promote a single or album. And I own Gaga and Katy's older material, but I don't care for "Applause". "Roar" has grown on me, but it wasn't an instant connection. All MC needs to do is release a single. Get it played on radio. Release an up to par video ie. Jay-Zs "Picasso" video is amazing but very simplistic. And Mariah needs to preform her new single completely live. No backing track and no dubbing. And I believe if she did a couple of radio interviews, went on a few talk shows, she would be right back on track for a November release for the album. I just feel MC has always since 1990 or 1988, when she signed her 1st record deal, been in her own lane. If it was all up to MC and not other label heads or radio programmers, she would probably have had a #1 record with "Obsessed" and "#Beautiful".

Janette (39,006) by clueey23 from USA
I honestly don't think Mariah is trying to compete. It's about putting out fresh material and collaborating with other artists and producers. #Beautiful was a nice fresh single. It's about creating a fresh sound that everyone of any age can relate to. Not to mention it was her biggest hit in years. Whitney Houston and all the rest are who they are and MC is who she is. "I Look to You" was a decent effort for Whitney, but it was boring. Besides a few songs, "I look to You", "Million Dollar Bill" and "Solute", it was boring for me. And I don't listen to Donna Summer or Celine Dion. I wish you wouldn't compare singers who tend not to create ie. write or produce to MC. Also, I would like to say that since "E=MC2" hit #1 and "Touch My Body" hit #1, promotion and single choices and also videos have been off kilter. Not up to the standard in which we all expect of Mariah. I personally love "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", it was a real modern r&b record which did as well as MC promotional efforts allowed it to do. It showed us growth, intimacy and attidue. Not to mention the label shelved the remix album after she had released two great singles for it. I wish MC and Ne-Yo performed live and also MC and Nicki. Both videos were nice, especially "Up Out My Face". And I feel all of this comes down to label politics. I think at this point in the game MC would do great as an independent artist or great on another label. "Daydream" is almost 20 years old. Just saying.

Mariah time is coming up (39,005) by Jeanette from USA
I am a fan of Mariah, but I feel she needs to be real. The music industry has changed. If you're not willing to promote your album or singles, then take time out for yourself. She makes songs that I would expect someone half her age to make. Look at Whitney, Celine and Donna, they all are legends in their own right but doesn't try to act younger than their age. Same can't be said for Madonna, who just like Mariah, is trying to compete with artists like Rihanna, who already has 12 number one hits, which is a fact. Whitney released her last album I Look To You to commerical success because she wasn't trying to beat what was out and though her voice wasn't there, she was still able to make a good album. I couldn't even listen to half of Memoirs, there wasn't anything special on that album. If she wants to be an r&b artist, she should make an album like Emotions or Daydream and Butterfly. They were crossover appeals. I have the courage to say she needs to grow up or her career will start to crash down.

tsort.info (39,004) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Maybe everyone here knows about this site, but I discovered it today, and I absolutely love it. Check out tsort.info, it contains statistics about artists chart performances worldwide, the site is extensive. I have just spent 3 hours sufing the site: Mariah is currently number 20 on song statistics overall and number 35 on album statistics overall. And remember, it has nothing to do with sales, just chart performance. Enjoy.

Postponment, it's fine with me (39,003) by Carol from Spain
I consider this postponement a blessing in disguise. If you remember, she hurt herself after she announced it. Imagine if this happened while promoting the album. I think fans should be a bit more patient and give Mariah the benefiet of the doubt, she earned it, at least from her fans. I have no problem in waiting for the album a few more months. I trust her. Instead of criticizing so much, we should unite ourselves around her and show the world we're a cohesive fanbase. Unfortynally, we're giving the wrong idea to the haters and fueling their feelings.

Commodore (39,002) by Randy from USA
Finally, someone agrees with me. #Beautiful is the most boring first single she's ever done and it does not scream "I'm irresistable, radio play me." I don't think MC or Island/Def Jam will be worried about Gaga or Perry, unless one of them are under Universal's many imprints. Are either?

Jeanette / Mariah shouldn't fade away (39,001) by Edward from USA
Jeanette, I agree with you that Mariah has lost touch with music for some reason. Things get more complicated with each album, not even with 20 people writing a single song. I don't agree with you stating that Mariah should fade away. I just think she just needs to regroup and go back to basics. I think she should trust her ability to write a song alone or with not more that one other person. Mariah wrote "Looking In", "Butterfly", "My All", "Outside" and many other great songs on her own, she was just assisted by Walter mostly with the music and production. I hope she had worked with Stevie and R Kelly, those two are great lyricists. I think whatever they may have put together with Mariah is quality stuff. Mariah has the luxury to have a studio in all the places she uses as living quaters. Even when dem babies are taking a nap, she could be popping music left and right, lol.
