Edward / more basic promotion (38,082) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Yes, some interviews on radio wouldn't go amiss either. However, I suspect Mariah is trying to be more selective with her promotional choices. I think she's going for high profile appearances, with mass audiences in mind. Whilst this strategy is a good one, I would like to see her do just a bit more. Nevertheless, if I had two kids, a husband, just finished a grueling stint on AI, and had previously suffered a breakdown, then I'd probably be more selective too. Sometimes it's more about quality than quantity, although as a fan, I'd like just a little bit more. She should do Ellen, and one of the late night talk shows. That would make me happy lol.

Edward: I meant "it's all love", not "it's not all love" in my post to you. Stacy: Sorry I mispelt your name.

I'm totally with you and I have no problem at all with respectful honesty and/or venting at all. I defend MC a lot, but I'm also respectfully critical of her choices as well. Case and point I was one of a few people that expressed distaste for the #Beautiful video on here and also I can get very candid about her voice/vocal performances (as you probably already noticed). I just don't want it to be misconstrued that my defending Mariah is because of not accepting/respecting differences in opinions, because that's something I don't believe in doing, attacking people's honest opinion (on a song, video, vocal performance, outfit ,whatever). Again thanks for your post. Peace.

The new version of#Beautiful (38,076) by Geronimo from USA
I like this version so much better than the first. This one skips those awkward motorcycle shots where she looked less than confident. Without those shots the video has a sense of humor that makes the sex play over-the-top cute rather than desperate and sad. I guess there is something to be said for restraint and focus.

Allow me to clarify that I have no qualms with the way Eric runs this website. I'm truly grateful that we aren't subjected to trolls that would post blatantly offensive messages. Also I want to make it clear that my addressing negative messages was in no way implying that Eric should do anything differently from what he already does, because I agree that he does a fair/great job. When I say people have posted disrespectful or borderline disrespectful message, I wasn't referring to anyone calling MC a profane word or stating that they hate her. I was more so referring to instances where certain individuals were seemly dragging her through the mud, discrediting her legacy, harshly criticizing her, and someone even went as far as to insult dem babies which I find disparaging and disrespectful (and again it's just my humble opinion). This notion doesn't reflect on Eric in anyway, because I agree that (within certain guidelines) everyone should be able to post there honest opinion and vent their frustrations. I wouldn't want my post to be overtly censored either. I just think it's up to those individuals not to cross that line into questionable territory (and not the administrator to censor anything slightly negative about Mariah). Also I respect your opinion on wanting to hear the good and bad perspectives on Mariah. I believe that's fair and we all should be honest. However I don't fault the individuals that come here and expect a certain level of regards to MC, or that would even come here for a positive refuge, because truthfully MC get enough hate and harsh criticism in the world. So having a safe haven where you can have an MC "love fest" is understandable. At the end of it all I agree that as long as everyone one is coming from a good respectful place with there comments (good or bad) it's not all love, but if you're coming for a questionable place then people have a right to respond accordingly just as that person had a right to post it. Best regards.

Thanks for your post. My intent wasn't to necessarily get involved in your posts with Stephen, but call attention to the fact you and him could have a discussion without all the drama. Too many times here some fans take a disagreement as a personal attack toward Mariah and themselves. Know what I mean? I've stated my opinions quite openly, but always with great respect to Mariah and others. And yet, I've been called every name in the book, lol (here and elsewhere). I agree with Edward in that Eric does not post messages that are absurd. Trust me, he's sent me a few messages folks have written about me that were plain nasty that were never posted here. I think that's why Stephen maybe got blunt in your eyes. Sometimes we grow so tired of not being able to respectfully express our views. Correct me if I'm wrong, Stephen.) It was nice to see two people get passed the cultural divide (so to speak), and see the points each other was trying to make. Like you, I always enjoy reading other's opinions and learning from them. BTW: If someone does come here and trash MC, I'll be right behind you calling them out. But, if someone says they don't like a video for credible reasons like I did, they should have the right to say such without all the childish drama. Know what I mean? Anyway, time to move forward for me. Peace.

Stephen / more basic promotion (38,072) by Edward from USA
I agree with you that there should be more promotion for #Beautiful. I don't even know if Mariah is doing phone interviews on radio, especially those stations that reach a broader audience. As I stated #Beautiful is fighting to stay alive, but a little push here and there would be great to keep it afloat, even if it's only talking about it. If the Macy's performance is the closest promotion we have lineup, it could be detrimental to the success of #Beautiful. It definitely deserves to be a top 10 hit. Sales have gone down, but airplay has increased, so let's see what happens.

GMA / Fourth of July (38,071) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I absolutely agree with you, Terna. WBT in GMA is my favourite part. Her interpretation left me speechless. I couldn't say it was flawless but for me I have already listed this as one of the most stunning performances in recent years. I am so proud of being a lamb. And Fourth of July? The only thing depresses me is that we have to wait a long time to see Mariah on stage again. Am I being too impatient? At least everyone knows she is currently busy with the new album.

enwar00 - Fourth of July (38,070) by Lee from UK
You're right, it would be quite fitting if Mariah sang Fourth of July at the Fireworks Spectacular. However, it's not the kind of song that will translate well into a live performance. It is definitely a creation for the studio only. If Mariah was to perform it live, it would be heavily layered with her own vocal harmonies and she will once again be accused of lip syncing. In addition, the song is very very breathy which again, doesn't translate well to a huge audience who know her for her powerful vocal gymnastics. I imagine whatever she performs, it will be a pre recorded effort again; just like when she performed the National Anthem for the Superbowl.

Edward (38,068) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I think there may still be a chance that they recorded a longer version, as if Mariah added a verse to an incomplete song, it is possible that they wrote a bridge together and that they cut it out for radio. #Beautiful is doing well. It has around 61 million audience impressions at the time of writing. However, momentum is starting to slow a little. I do think Mariah needs to get on TV and perform it more or at least do some interviews with it. Also, Miguel is a very good singer/songwriter. I've followed his music for quite a while now, and even wrote on this messageboard in 2011, stating that I'd like Mariah to work with him. I think it would be good if they wrote more songs together for her album. I also like that he gave Mariah credit for bringing that song to life. I also think that Mariah should actually prepare a second single and get a video shot for it too. For albums to sell in the current climate, the public need to trust the material and Mariah probably needs one more single to convince non lambs to buy the album. Although, I think it's too soon to release a second single just yet, it would make sense to get one prepared and release it a couple of weeks before the album drops. However, if you, Mariah and/or her team think otherwise, then who am I to disagree to the contrary lol.

Courtney, regarding medleys (38,067) by jaker20 from US
She should have just sang #Beautiful in AI, instead of a medley. Her part in the song is short anyway, so she'd have slayed it. She could have sang it with a contestant or anyone else if Miguel can't make it. I mean how fun would it have been if Keith sang with her? That would be viral. And then again with GMA she should have sang #Beautiful first and give us great vocals because she'll sing the song first. MC's promo has been messy, and this pattern dates back to Bye Bye. Since then it's been messy promos after the other, from bad videos, to hiring her husband to direct mediocre vids, to no live performances to promote songs, to no big spectacle like "Its Like That" on VH1. Its been messy since Bye Bye in all honesty. Even #Beautful, such great song with mediocre video. It could have a great story or concept like Its Like That like some other lead single. It seems like she really went Bye Bye after that song.

Re: Jaker (38,066) by Badr from USA
What's wrong with performing hits from the past? It's not like that's all she's been doing. Her last two studio albums, E=MC2 and MOAIA, both generated smash hits, "Touch My Body", "Obsessed" (within the US), and "IKTKWLI" (abroad). Plus, she performed a brand-new song, "#Beautiful", which we can consider a worldwide hit. I don't see the "has-been". She cannot perform new songs because her album isn't ready. I believe it's time to cut Mariah some slack. Many people go too far with critics, crossing the line. Let's try to see things objectively, that's all.

RadChad, about disrespectful messages (38,064) by Edward from USA
RadChad, one thing I have noticed and that I deeply appreciate from Eric, the webmaster, is that he doesn't allow disrespectful or hateful messages towards Mariah here, hence he has never posted them. Through the years he has even addressed some of those who attempted and later complained not having their messages posted. In my opinion he has been very fair. We have had some heated disagreements on this board, but I never saw anything stating they hated Mariah or her music as a whole. Never saw anybody refer to Mariah with profanity either, e.g. calling her a slut. I know it is only your opinion, but I think it is fair to Eric clarifying that. Looking back I realize that at the end of the day we all want Mariah to succeed. It doesn't mean we are right or wrong, but at least we can vent here with people who love her too. I love this messageboard because it is different from any other messageboard I have seen on the net. I don't know if you have noticed, but Mariahdailyjournal only posts positive news about Mariah, which is ok, but it is good to know different points of view from the media. Just my humble opinion.

Post GMA (38,063) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I absolutely adore Mariah. And I think #Beautiful is wonderful. I sing it everyday. When Mariah's on, the song really takes off. And in GMA, everything went wrong, but hey, I really liked #Beautiful, Miguel wasn't unsynched. I love Mariah, she is so beautiful.

Fourth of July performance (38,062) by Geronimo from USA
I am glad to hear that Mariah will be performing on the fourth. Hopefully fans will not supply the press with quotes for "naysayers section" of their reviews this time. At the same time, something tells me that this event will be spectacular, theatrical, highly controlled and heavily edited. Oh well. I'll be glad if I'm wrong on that, though.

Fourth of July (38,061) by enwar00 from usa
I would love love love if she performed Fourth of July during the Macy's fireworks special. I mean, could another Mariah song be more fitting for the occasion? And considering Mariah is so festive, I can't believe she didn't sing it the last time she performed on that special. I will beg her to perform that lol. It's one of my faves off Butterfly.

Air clearing and clarifications (38,060) by RadChad from United States
Stephen and Stacie, it's all good. I just wanted to clarify that my past post weren't targeting/personally addressing one person in particular (though I did quote Stephen in one post), it was more general and based on several post I've read from other members as well (not a personal attack on Stephen). Actually, this was the first time I've noticed Stephen's post being on the rougher side of blunt, but like I said before, I understood where he was coming from in general and can respect his opinion. Being that he's usually very diplomatic. However, I still stand by the point that there has been other members of the board that have made straight up disrespectful comments regarding MC and I feel that it shouldn't be a problem for myself and/or others to address it. At the end the day, having that open dialogue while hearing each other out can result in something positive. Even if we don't end up seeing eye to eye, we can learn things and understand each other more. Just my thoughts. Peace.

Medleys (38,059) by Courtney from USA
Jacker, with GMA it's supposed to be a mini concert so a medley works best for that and ABMB and WBT were both massive spring/summer hits, so it's only fair Mariah chose to sing those along with Beautiful on GMA. It's tough to sing early in the morning or late at night, especially with a fragile voice like Mariah's. Add into that her stage fright and that gives the results we saw on GMA.

There goes my hope (38,058) by Edward from USA
I was hoping for a longer version of #Beautiful, but according to what Miguel stated on the interview, he had already written his verse when he teamed up with Mariah, and then they wrote the second verse together, so my hopes for a bridge or a little bit more singing from Mariah are gone. I was hoping for a longer version, just like Miguel did with his single Adorn. Actually I didn’t know Miguel, but by collaborating with Mariah, I realized he had some great songs, Adorn being a gem. I do believe #Beautiful was a last minute song, just like We Belong Together and It’s Like That were, and they worked very well. #Beautiful is fighting to stay alive, I hope it doesn’t lose steam until the album comes out. At this point, a new single before the album release doesn’t make any sense to me.

[...] (38,056) by jaker20 from US
I don't know why MC keeps singing medleys. It makes her look like a has-been. She needs to promote #Beautiiful only and slay it, instead of a medley where she's great on WBT, ABMB and then a mediocre #Beautiful. If the song is a smash, then people will buy her old hits. Before people buy catalogs, they want to see her relevance first. People who want the songs already have them anyway. In the past, MC always promotes the lead single only, and the songs in the new album. I love the performances, but she's sung them so many times and better in the past. #Beautiful is a great great song, and we need one strong, solid performance of the song, say acapella so the vocals are focused, much like what she did with Fallon. She's now sung it twice and they're both not well received. Ugh, I'm not in a good mood today.

New album (38,055) by Musti from UK
I just noticed that the new album will be Mariah's first summer release since Music Box, which was released on 31 August 1993. TEOM and E=MC2 were released in April, and Butterfly, Glitter and Memoirs in September, but no actual summer release in 20 years. I hope it doesn't get pushed back. Beautiful is a great summer track. I'm already curious about the next single. She might just rock summer 2013.

WBT on GMA (38,054) by Terna from Nigeria
The final big note was indeed big and that look afterwards priceless. I loved how she giggled after the soft falsetto coo just before the remix came in lol. She's suddenly so youthful, vibrant and full of life again, the best she's ever looked. I am one proud fan right now.

Mariah on AI (38,053) by Joe from United Kingdom
As much as I don't care for AI as a show, I am going to miss seeing Mariah each week, as that was the only reason I tuned in. I guess I'll just have to patiently wait for even more new music. No offence to anyone, but it would be completely pointless for her to address the lip syncing. I mean if nobody realises (AI excluded) then you don't need to say anything. A magician never reveals his/her secrets, although I have to agree that maybe she should be more confident in her current voice (which is still amazing) to perform fully live arrangements of the songs.
