Meriweatherc86 (38,350) by Stacey from USA
We aren't paid experts, but we aren't dumb either. Many of us (me included) have been MC fans for decades. We've been fans of other artists for a long time too. You see trends, what kind of promotional activities that work and what does not. In the past, when a new single, album dropped, MC was all over the place. Then it's seemed the past few weeks have seen a drop off in appearances. Airplay dropped last week. She stayed at #15, and so I'm worried the song may fall a bit before her next appearances. Know what I mean? Only time will tell. No one is being negative about #Beautiful. Some have expressed not liking the song. That's to be expected. However, for the most part everyone here seems to like the song and it's potential. We all want the song to do well. We want buzz to stay high so when the album drops and that all important 2nd single, the album will soar. Know what I mean? It's not called negativity, my friend. It's called constructive criticism. There is a difference.

My All/Stay Awhile (38,349) by Anonymous from
I love that remix, too. It's tied with the Mr. Dupri remix of Always Be My Baby featuring Dair Brat and Xscape.

Favourite lead single (38,348) by Musti from UK
If we're referring to album versions here, then my fave is Honey. However my all-time fave Mariah uptempo is Heartbreaker (DJ Clue Remix). I still remember listening to it when it first came out in 1999 with my crappy dial-up connection. It was like having my own musical awakening lol. I still can't describe what it is that song does to me.

Opinion (38,347) by Anonymous from
Critics often say Fantasy and Heartbreaker use the same Genius Of Love sample. Heartbreaker samples Attack Of The Name Game. I don't know why they claim that. I've even read a review that claims Loverboy uses the sample as well. Has anyone else noticed this?

Definitely Honey is my favorite lead single. The video compliment the song. It was just perfect. Runner up for my favorite lead single is Heartbreaker.

It's a tie between Heartbreaker and Touch My Body. Such fun catchy songs and cute videos.

"Jennifer Lopez is not my cup of tea. I think she's good, not great, and certainly not on the level of Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. She's definitely not a star," brutally honest Cowell said.

Macy's spectacular is Idol 2 (38,343) by nikki from usa
It might as well be announced now. Mariah's taping her part of the event on the 27th for Macy's. 600 complimentary tickets are being given away now. Let's just hope when they play her part it's simply "as is" and not another cut, paste, and dubbed fiasco. If anyone's going, try to record it.

Honey, Fantasy, and Heartbreaker (38,342) by Lainsky from Philippines
My top three favorite lead singles. Honey is epic like most of you said. Fantasy, without ODB, is one of my top 5 MC songs. Heartbreaker, video and songs were just simply great, but Honey's video is even better.

Fantasy and Fantasy remix. Hands down. I love Honey too. To be fair to Mariah Fantasy, Honey and Heartbreaker was a great run of lead singles. In fact all her lead singles from 1990-1999 were fantastic.

Honey as number one single (38,340) by Zachary from Croatia
I literally fell in love when I heard that song and saw the video. It was just epic. And it was released on my 17th birthday, 26.8.1997. Love it. My favorite single and my favorite Mariah's song ever. Ever.

Re Meriweatherc86, negativity, #Beautiful (38,339) by Badr from USA
Although the people commenting on this board may not be marketing executives, I believe they are entitled to have an opinion and comment on Mariah's management decisions. Their opinions are worthy, and perhaps the label's executives should be paying attention because, at the end of the day, they are the ones who buy the product. Yes, Mariah has been in the business for 23 years, but I'm sure we can all agree that, with her last 2 projects, a lot of bad decisions have been made. Having said that, I do applaud Meriweatherc86 because sometimes there is a lot of negativity in this board. News flash: Mariah isn't perfect and cannot make everybody happy. It's great being critical, but let's not forget this is a Mariah Carey fan site. In regards to #Beautiful's performance, I hope Mariah is preparing something, because it would be a shame this song gets wasted. It deserves to be at least in the top 10. It's not because I am a fan, but #Beautiful is a great pop/r&b song that contrasts with the tons and tons of shit I find on the radio nowadays.

Favourite first single (38,337) by Bill from the UK
Good topic. Mine was definitely Fantasy. I became a fan during 1993/1994 when Music Box and its singles were big in the UK. By the time her Christmas album was out, I was a huge fan and I had purchased her previous albums and played them all constantly every day. When I heard Fantasy on the radio, I remember listening through the whole song, sitting on the floor of my bedroom writing in a diary, then right at the song's climax (exact period was at 3:25 lol) the DJ excitedly said "What an amazing new song from Mariah Carey." And my whole body went cold and I leapt up and hit the record button on my stereo (I always kept a blank tape in it to record songs from the radio). I played the small segment of the song I had (with the DJ talking over it) relentlessly and stayed by the radio until I heard it again and could record from the beginning. It was so different, modern, cool, and unexpected. Still to this day one of the best songs she ever did.

Comedy (38,334) by clueey23 from USA
It's actually a form of pure comedy to come on this board and read all of the comments regarding promotion and the album the next single and all. Like you all are the ones that were the masterminds behind the music that we purchase and enjoy. Lol. MC has been in the game for over 2 decades now. She knows what she's doing. Trust and believe that.

The art of letting go / #Beautiful (38,333) by clueey23 from USA
Why is everyone being so negative? It's crazy that folks just can't be satisfied with what is going on regardless. #Beautiful hasn't peaked. We still have "The view", BET Awards, and the Macy's Day Parade. Not to mention, I'm sure of late night shows and other outlets of promotion. Chill out. This is her project, period. I'm excited to see her in the studio with MikeWillMadeIt and Jeezy.

Favourite first single (38,332) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
By the way, what is your favourite first single from Mariah's albums? I really like #Beautiful, but it's not my favourite one. I became a fan when she released Honey, I was 14. But my favourite first single must be Heartbreaker, I had become a huge fan by then, much because of Divas 1998. I remeber the first time I heard it, I sat in the car with my family on our way on holliday. I bought the single, and I fell in love with Heartbreaker/"If you should ever be lonely", I absolutely love that remix. I can't wait for a remix of #Beautiful, and I hope there will be a lot of Mariah. So, what is your favourite first, or lead, single?

Getting ready for the next single (38,331) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I am happy that #Beautiful reached #15 on Billboard, if that was its peak. I think it's a decent hit, and remember, ILT only whent to #16. I'm a bit dissapointed though that the single didn't do that well in Europe. But hey, I actually was afraid that Mariah was forgotten when Triumphant and Almost Home didn't to well at all on the charts. I think it's about time to release a second single now, I'm positive it will benefit from the momumentum of #Beautiful. And though many here want her not to release a ballad, I actually think that will be ok. Mariah is known for her ballads.

TAOLG / Heartbreaker / If You Should Ever Be Lonely (38,329) by Randy from USA
I still feel like there is another single that is going to be released before the album and it's going to be a killer. She's just trying to gain interest and reintroduce her iconic brand. As for the remix you all keep touting, I hated it in 99 and I hate it now. Mariah's best mash-up to this day: My All/Stay Awhile. Whenever I'm in my car and that comes up on several of my iPod shuffle playlists, I blast it and sing it to the top of my lungs, and I don't care if I'm in the hood, aka the West End of Atlanta or the ritzy neighborhoods, Alpharetta or Vinings. My All/Stay Awhile is undeniable.

BET (38,328) by nikki from usa
Mariah's upping the promo machine. I've seen several commercials that MC will be performing with Miguel at the BET awards on the 30th. But, she'll be promoting The Art Of Letting Go on The View first. Exciting. Haters have been coming out in droves lately about her white bikini pics, really venomous things. I burst out laughing when they tried to claim her black bikini pics were photoshopped. Yeah, when I'm at home shooting pics and uploading them on my twitter account - I always use photoshop first. Lol.

Brad / #Beautiful on life support (38,327) by Edward from USA
Brad, agree with you. #Beautiful is on life support now and needs a boost in sales and airplay. In my opinion the remix shouldn't wait another week to be released, since the single is becoming stagnant on the chart. The View, BET, and Macy's performances are good and all, but all of them are happening about 10 days from today. I think Mariah might be leaving her record label once TAOLG has run its course.

If you should ever be lonely / Heartbreaker (38,326) by RadChad from United States
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that's completely in love with this remix. I didn't even know it existed until (of course) the remix album came out, but I believe it took for it to hit me at the right time (couple years later I believe) for me to notice it, and once it caught my attention, I was hooked. The emotional mid voice over the deep vocals, was pow. I think Heartbreaker as a whole had the best remixes, from dance to hip/hop R&B. I would chose the Love Hangover/ Heartbreaker remix over them all though, I need Mariah to do a full remake of that song like last decade. I hope she does the same with the #Beautiful remix(es), a total reinvention of song with new vocals and music.

Re: Heartbreaker / If You Should Ever Be Lonely (38,325) by Joanna from Poland
I absolutely love this remix. The vocal is amazing, especially from 8:35. I also love Anytime You Need A Friend C&C Club version, what she does with her vocals in this one shows that she is the best vocalist ever.
