Idol/RadChad (37,698) by Caroline from USA
I'm so over it. I don't know what some (and I stress the word some) people find so great about Nicki's critiques because I find nothing. Then again I've spent a lot of time with my television on mute because her voice grates on my last nerve and I quickly grew tired of the annoying accents and nicknames. When I did keep it off mute, she seemed to be saying a whole lot of nothing or saying something mean and rude that some people like her for because they think it's being real. As for Mariah being fired, who says she even wants to come back because I seriously doubt she does. No amount of publicity and public attention is worth this mess. When all the drama started, Nigel tried to throw Mariah under the bus and still seems to be, but now the media tides have turned, especially due to Laura Saltman's article and of course Nicki's own crazy twitter rants. RadChad, I agree with what you said about Nicki messing up the chemistry. She's negative, aggressive, and can't let people disagree with her. I also highly doubt that the majority (and once again I stress the word) of people care about Mariah being too nice. I feel like Mariah has a lot of good things to say but she's not aggressive, she's not mean and she doesn't repeat what all of the other judges have already said. Although she could work on the long-winded thing, but most people who are never change; I know I haven't, lol.

You're off tangent once again. Who even suggested she should be fired? Not me, maybe you. I said, she should leave. Huge difference from being fired. Why would they even fire her now, the season is almost over. Negotiations is for 2014, and I say she should either quit, or not take the offer. There is a very high possibility she would not be offered to return, but if she does, I hope she does not take it. One season is enough. Also, getting fired by Idol is not that bad as you make it. Very few people who cares about good music watch Idol. It's being beaten by Big Bang Theory on the ratings for crying out loud. Everyone who left Idol was rumored to get fired. Idol is not going to publicize she got fired even if she did, MC was decent enough to part ways on "creative differences". I still don't understand why you guys have so much high regard for this show. I don't know anyone who listens to decent music watches the show. Leaving the show would be one of the best things that MC can do for her and her career. And who told you she's getting good press out of AI? Everything that I have been reading about AI is negative (ratings on all-time low, her big boobs, her fight with Minaj). Is this the kind of press you want for MC? I'm sorry but I don't watch the Kardashians and maybe to them that is "press". Deadline.com tracks weekly ratings, and every single time, the posts are either negative or a back and forth bickering between MC and Minaj fans. Is this your idea of "press"? Another thing, since joining AI, she's released two songs, Triumphant and Almost Home. So the "publicity she needs" that you are talking about did not help the songs one bit, in fact they are her worst performing songs ever. Lastly, you seem so focused on this "public opinion" siding with Mariah. You know, it takes two to tango. Her name is being dragged in this ridiculous girl-fight that have not helper her at all in anyway whatsoever. A woman in her mid-40s supposedly a music legend, quarreling with a 30-year old newbie. By mere comparison, who do you think has something to lose here and instantly winning? Had she been fighting Beyonce or someone of her calibre, I would tell her to fight. So if you want MC to stay in AI, good for you, I hope you get your wish. The writing's on the wall. AI has not given anything more than $20M, bad press, and no music. She said once if she makes a decision based on money she falters. She might have to revisit her own statements and wake up.

I never said that people have said that. That is the vibe I get when people compare Mariah and Nicki critiquing strategies. What better advice does Nicki give then Mariah's? The only difference I see is that Nicki is mean and Mariah is nice. I have seen constantly on here how much better a judge Nicki is than Mariah. I just don't get the logic.

Antone (37,694) by Lee from UK
Not one single person on this board has even so much as hinted that to be a good judge you have to be mean. You seem to placing words into the mouths of people who are being selective about how they compare Mariah and Nicki's critiquing styles.

jaker20 (37,693) by Will from England
Do you have any idea how that could backfire spectacularly for Mariah if she was fired? People would not take her seriously anymore. It would give bloggers more cannon fodder to blast her with more negative press and degrade her image and reputation. Mariah does not need that, especially with a new album on the way, and I'm suspecting why she reacted with lawyers when the rumours about JLo began to circulate. Along with that, Nicki would have a field day with that (if her twitter is anything to go by). Ok, maybe she is above Idol, but the show has done one good thing and that is put her back in the public's eye, and increasing interest in her again. The feud with Nicki, whether it be real or fake, has changed the public's opinion of her that maybe she isn't this horrible diva who cares only about herself. On more articles about the feud, I've noticed that people are siding with Mariah, whether they like her or not. The press has begun to turn against Nicki which is working to Mariah's favour. So you can say what you want about the show, it's helped to get Mariah back the publicity she needs. And as for the "real music", why don't we wait for tomorrow to see what Mariah has been working on?

MC should leave Idol (37,690) by jaker20 from US
I don't know why you guys are pushing for MC to stay on Idol. I would be glad if they keep Minaj and then boot MC, because MC does not deserve Idol. She deserves better. Idol is trash, cheap, and fake. These singing contests are for celebrities who have no creative output anymore and are passing their time for easy money. One season is more than enough. She should move on and focus on making real music, something she's not done in more than 2 years. Idol is also on decline. Idol is getting nothing but negative press, and she's being used as a reason for its failure. It's not without reason because she's being paid $20M and naturally eyes will be on her. She's overcharging Idol based on her legacy and talent, but she's not been able to pull in audiences, and TV is a numbers game. For her career, I suggest she leave Idol asap. No one can save the show, not even MC. Another thing. I'm very sorry but you have to be really dim to not know this Minaj vs. MC is all a stunt. Just because it's not working, does not mean it's real. Sure people talk about it, but you and hopefully MC is learning now, controversy does not always equal ratings. That said, it is a stunt. Does MC want to enter this Kardashian/Real House Wives brand of entertainment? These are reserved to newbies, starlets and has-beens. Fantasia did it. Whitney did it. I sure hope MC is not enjoying herself in Idol.

AI (37,689) by Antone from Us
You know it is so funny how people think that Nicki is a better judge than Mariah, just because she is meaner. Has Nicki ever commentied on phrasing, quality, range or even pitch for that matter. I have heard Mariah critique several different contestants on some of those things plus some. It is strange that people can't see that just because Mariah is nice. So I guess being mean makes you a good judge.

RadChad (37,688) by RibbonB from USA
I toally agree with you. This is an Idol fiasco. Mariah did her thing despite all the drama. Nicki is just crude. She would not show any other judge that level of disrespect, certainly not as consistently as she has MC. That's an indication of her bitterness and insecurity. She was never needed and didn't fit it. But, some people love mess. *shrug* I'm so hoping MC does this season and scoots right on about her business.

Final Idol weigh in (37,687) by RadChad from United States
Laura Saltman said it perfectly. Nicki isn't a bad judge, she just wasn't needed. The show would've worked perfectly with just Mariah, Keith, and Randy, they all have good spirits about them. For me Nicki just throws off the chemistry on the panel, if they wanted her on there they should've just brought her on next season as the only female judge. The producers were being messy by adding Nicki to the panel after publicily making it known that Mariah wasn't happy about it. If J.Lo was able to get the courtesy of being the only female judge, then Mariah should've gotten the same courtesy. So all the bad drama and ratings is their fault and it serves them right that their plan to create drama for ratings backfired big time. Also I don't think the public really care about Mariah being "too nice" or whatever, it's definitely not why the ratings are down, the public just want to see great contestants and the judges having great chemistry and occasional fun, friendly banter. Not real drama and negativity. Having said all that, I can't wait for Mariah to move on from this whole mess and let the music trump the negavity thrown her way. Success is the sweetest revenge.

Disney Princess comment, AI (37,686) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I really felt that moment on AI this week was a double-edged comment toward singer Angie Miller (neither performance was Disney or Broadway-like to me, and the feedback felt like an unflattering slam, what's constructive there?) and Mariah who just had her "Disney Princess" themed wedding vow renewal. (It's fine btw, if people have issue with Nick and MC doing their vows each year. I get that some people will not respond well to that. I say power to Nick and Mariah, it's their life, keeping romance alive is important , Who cares what others thnk?) And then, Mariah gets told to "have her ears cleaned" (insert cotton swab) when she calls a spade a spade, and exposes mud-slinging for what it is. Not cool at all.

Will, Chase (37,685) by Lee from UK
Will, I literally laughed out loud at "cause you're hashtag beautiful". Chase, I agree Idol has kept Mariah's name in the public 's mind and this can only help single sales. I think since the whole J-Lo swap rumours, Mariah has upped her game when it comes to talking to the contestants as a judge. I don't think Nicki has ruined Idol for her, I just think Nicki is more suited to it than Mariah. It's just a shame that Mariah is more qualified to give the critiques. I did enjoy Mariah's dig at Nicki's lack of number ones though.

Showbiz 411 article (37,684) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I'm glad Mariah has changed management. That would explain why the promo in the last few weeks has been pretty much on point from the music side of things. Hopefully it can improve going forward. IDJ have not supported Mariah properly in recent years, so hopefully with decent management behind her, she can undo some of their countervailing effect on Mariah's career. Side note; I wish Rodger Friedman wouldn't give so much away about the song. I was looking forward to the surprise of how the duet was going to work. It's good of Mariah to release info to the fans through him, and it's a good way of building anticipation for the single and album.

"To be contiuned" from Betcha Gon' Know (37,683) by Zachary from Croatia
Hi guys. Today I listened to MOAIA and I realized that Betcha Gon' Know ends with words "to be continued". So that made me wondering, maybe Beautiful will be a sequel of that song (which for me, is amazing and should've been a single). The melody is smooth, like in Beautiful (if it's to believe the teaser). Any thoughts on this?

Critical new era (37,682) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
As I could read through most of the write-ups regarding Mimi's new era, even to the smallest of detail like her Beautiful hashtag and the artwork, critics are all over Mimi. They are waiting for her smallest bit of failure and they will burn her. And I just wana cry at this moment because I am so helpless. I want her to succeed and bring music back to life. I wish and I really hope that her lead single will be an epic one that will swoo over the critics. Great music trumps all her disappointments lately. Yes, I am a big big fan, in fact, I breathe Mariah everyday of my life. And I am being honest towards her. AI is beneath her. And I am just waiting for her music to trump everything that was a let-down. I know we all say that she doesnt need to prove anything anymore, but if there's one thing that I can sense here - she is the one who wants to prove that she's not a has been yet. and with great music, she will silence all people.

Nikki (37,681) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Good points. I remember saying the same thing when "Almost Home came" out relating to Disney and PR. I also remember an interview about Triumphant where Mariah said the track was released much earlier than planned because it was leaked. I'm not sure where the media got the idea to start touting it as a "lead single" because to me, it was never treated that way by the label or by Mariah.

Beause I feel the need (37,679) by nikki from usa
I have to point out that those last 2 "singles" weren't singles. For Triumphant to "flop" it would have to be released and do badly. It was allowed for immediate download without being sent to radio stations. Two weeks later Mariah sent it to rap stations "only". It actually did okay which is surprising because Mariah's not a rap artist. The song was written for Nick and Mariah wanted it heard. The rappers on it were going through some drama and MC was showing some love. Immediately, she had remixes prepared for download that again were never released to radio. You could call Hate U a flop as it was sent to radio, but didn't do anything. Almost Home is something Mariah was asked to do for a Disney production. The fact that it wasn't in the movie or on it's soundtrack would suggest a lack of communication with the creators and PR at Disney. This has nothing to do with Mariah. She didn't promote this song as it didn't belong to her to promote. She didn't promote "Right to dream" either. They're movie promos, not singles.

Chase (37,677) by John from USA
I agree with you. If Idol has done anything positive for Mariah, it's keeping her name in the headlines. Other than that, I think Nicki has ruined it for her. Nicki needs to go. They are unfairly blaming Mariah for low ratings, but Idol is such a bore now. The show is too stale, it's been on too long. Mariah joined the party way too late, unfortunately. As for "Triumphant", well, the original version was garbage. Everyone knows that. I mean, she was featured on her own song. The remixes were better, and got her a #1 dance hit at least. "Almost Home", to me, is a fantastic song (my most played song on my iPhone), but it got no promotion or buzz around it. I think Mariah and her camp know that she needs at least a solid hit single from this next album. Based on what she's said in interviews, she really wants this next one to be a success. I'm both extremely excited and terrified to hear "Beautiful". But if she's taught us anything, don't count her out.

Is it really? (37,676) by Will from England
Is it really called '#Beautiful'? I thought that was just for the twitter trend. Hmm. Ok. I was not expecting that to actually stick and be the title of the song. As long as they lyrics don't go "cause you're hashtag beautiful" then I'm cool with it. And the single art? I'll be honest, I thought that was just for the promo, to get the excitement up to another level. Well it wouldn't be the first time she's used a video still for the single cover art (AC, UOMF, ABMB, WYB anyone?). Although arguably, the fan made for it (with just the silver butterfly on it) looked a bit better, but hey, that's Mariah.

Babyface (37,674) by Licia from USA
After seeing the pic of him and Mariah, I am hoping Mariah has at least one song with Babyface on her new album. I absolutely love him. Even though I can't stand the Music Box album, Never Forget You stays on repeat. They were magical on that song. Even with him just doing background vocals, he had a strong presence in that song. I'm so random.

Low (37,673) by Chase from USA
The past couple of weeks have brought plenty of negative Idol news, including the show's worst-ever ratings, the producers' suggestion that Mariah be more critical (and her bumbling attempt at that), rumors of J.Lo as a replacement, and now more of this ridiculous rivalry between Mariah and Nicki that panders to the lowest common denominator. I'll be the first to say that I think Nicki comes off much worse than Mariah during these fights, but the fact that Mariah is even involved is upsetting to me. I previously spoke positively about Mariah on Idol, but now I'm beginning to see it as just another low mark in a floundering career. With "Triumphant" and "Almost Home" having virtually no impact, I'm hoping that this next project can turn fortunes around. I think working with Miguel is a great choice. We'll see what happens. I'm sorry I'm often so negative, but I'm feeling totally out of touch and disconnected with Mariah's career, and every new development seems to knock me further out of her camp. I'm tired of feeling embarrassed for her.
(Friday 3 May 2013; 6:57)
Oh, Nicki (37,672) by nikki from usa
Lmao. I'm sorry, but the wax in Nicki's ears must've kept out the noise that Idol was looking to replace her too. No, darrling, a Billboard #1 hit is not the same as an entry to the Billboard hot 100. MC's not talking about the bottom of the chart, she rules the top. Although I'm unaware of the 40-some songs Nicki has done to compete with Mariah even on that level, Mariah isn't known for most singles entering the chart. That's more of a Janet or Madonna category. Mariah's known for ruling the chart, not entering its bottom. Because she's Mariah, the woman who paved the way for hip-hop, your bread and butter. But, then again, back in Mariah's day, people had to want her song enough to leave their homes and physically buy it for $3-$5 dollars, not download it on the net for 99 cents. Btw, talking over people more accomplished than you and slowing the show down by verbally attacking them isn't the definition of "secure".

Licia/Idol crap (37,671) by RibbonB from USA
Licia, Roc definitely needed his binky during the ceremony. Lol it was obviously late and a lot to deal with. I thought it was so funny when Roc started acting up that Nick or Mariah took Roe's binking and put it in his mouth. They are only two and surely endured a lot up late celebrating, so a pacifier probably still calms and soothes them at this stage. Their vow renewal ceremony looked beautiful and over the top. Congrats to them for having fun and celebrating life and love. Now as for Nicki and her renewed Idol crap. She needs to let it go and grow the hell up. She is the sad pathetic, pressed individual. To restart old drama again is pretty pathetic. Now Harry Connick and Randy, two talented musicians, is good TV. Nicki commenting is bull crap, that is why she stays pressed and combative with the other female judge. The one true legend on the panel. The combative strategy was a flop and just ignorant for idol to encourage or allow and for it to reignite this late in the season is desperate. It was great to see Mariah's mother at the show last night, that's the one positive of the night. Flop idol 2013, Nicki edition.

Anniversary/dem babies birthday (37,670) by Licia from USA
Mariah's dress was beautiful, the kids were adorable, and Nick looked so handsome. I hope she shares more pics from the kids party. The only thing I would change is the kids having those pacifiers. I Just wanted to grab them and throw them in the garbage. Lol.

I'm loving it, no snippets, like back in the day (37,669) by Edward from USA
I love the fact that Mariah hasn't released a snippet of the new single, just like when we had to wait in anticipation back when the internet wasn't as developed. It was a wonderful experience buying an album without having any idea of what each track would sound like, but the first single. I hope she keeps her music in a vault until it is released. I remembered rushing home with the Butterfly album in my hands, just eager to hear what else she had cooked in the studio. Honey, with its amazing video, was flawless, Butterfly had already been playing when the album came out, but the rest of the album was like been in ecstasy. I hope she sampled some retro samples in some of the songs, I believe that's what exposed TEOM to a broader audience.
