Hey all, let's us prepare for May 6 (37,668) by Nelic from Taiwan
Firstly, congrats to Mariah for the happy fifth aniversary. Secondly, let's stop all the arguments and be prepared for the coming May 6. It's difficult to pin down everything until we hear it. So I still have faith in everything. And what matters is how much promotion Mariah can deserve.

Thank you Mariah for your inspirational music (37,667) by John from USA
Mariah has been my absolute favorite artist since 1997 when I saw the "Honey" music video (I was a 13 year old guy, enough said ). And for me, it has never been just about her amazing vocals and catchy songs, but her lyrics. I have been going through an awful time these last few months. A few months ago, I was left by my girlfriend (who I wanted to marry) of 5 years for basically no reason. It's really stripped my faith away in almost everything. Some of Mariah's songs have become harder to listen to (e.g. "Love Takes Time"). But ironcially, my favorite Mariah song of all time "Someday" has taken on a whole new meaning for me, because that's what I'm going through right now. "Almost Home" has become my current anthem as I try to push through this pain and go about my life and finish graduate school. I'm still in a lot of pain and life sucks right now. But I will say Mariah's music has been helping me a little. Thanks Mariah for creating the soundtrack to my life.

All I want for 2013 is Mariah (37,666) by Dossome from U.S.A
I've been craving Mariah's music like it's not even funny, then she blesses me with a teaser out of nowhere. I literally can't hide my excitement. I got fed up of working with rappers and I really wanted her to do a song with other singers, preferably male, so getting Miguel was a great idea to me. 2013 better be all Mariah, I can't stand one more case of non-promotion or releasing wrong singles like she did with Rainbow, E=MC2 and Memoirs. Fove ore days lambs.

Edward / Deedre / Antone (37,665) by Stacey from USA
Hallelujah, Edward. Someone gets it. Thank you, Deedre. Both your posts were spot on. My original post wasn't to start an argument. On the contrary. I was simply trying to remind folks to give all opinions a chance to be heard. No one was dogging a duet they never heard. That's silly. Period. Antone, my post "back it up a bit" was a shout out to a whole bunch of posts on the subject. If it was solely directed to you, I would have put your name at the top of the subject line. As it stands, you were mentioned halfway through my post because the bottom part was directed toward you. Peace.

Happy Anniversary Mariah and Nick (37,663) by Special K from USA
5 years and counting. Cheers to you both. April 30th 2008 was the day oh so many Mariah Carey fans lost their damn minds, lol.

Can we call a truce? (37,661) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
This is depressing. I understand the POV of those saying lets hear the song. I understand the POV of those who maybe aren't as jazzed about a duet right now. I can't speak for anyone, but I think it boils down to a combination of personal preference and just flat out wanting the best possible successes for Mariah. Perhaps people who would prefer a solo song just want her next song to be more widely accepted than her last few collabs? Maybe some people just miss hearing Mariah solo period, and that's what they're in the mood for? Again, not speaking for anyone, but I didn't hear anyone saying they hated Beautiful or would't support it. What I saw was mixed reaction. I did not see anyone hating on Mariah for choosing a feature/duet as the next single. I was 12 years old when Vision Of Love came out. MC is my favorite singer of all time. I will be a fan as long as I'm alive, and beyond lol, but I would certainly feel awful having my level devotion called into question, because I expressed an initial opinion. Opinions can change lol. And I don't hear anyone saying they won't give the song a change. I'm looking forward to hearing Beautiful, I have a good feeling about this one, but I don't expect everyone is going to agree with me. I did not like the idea of collab with JB because 1) He is not my bag. 2) I am very attached to the 1994 version of AIWFCIY 3) I didn't feel the collab would bring anything special to the song. Then, when it came out, the video wasn't my cup of tea. Does that make me a fake fan? I hope not. I certainly wasn't bailing on Mariah. I would never do that.

Are we spoiled brats (fans) or do we have some stans (fans) here? (37,659) by Edward from USA
We, Mariah's fans, are very critical of her work because she got us used to quality music and vocals. She worked her ass off during the 90's to give us quality and non-rushed music. We all got used to quality, a quality that she put out there, an almost effortless quality that we thought it would never go away. I don't consider myself or anybody else to be less of a fan just because they hate a song, an arrangement or a vocal performance, because at the end of the day, we are comparing her to her own previous work, a wonderful catalog that we got used to. Stating an opinion about not liking the idea of a collaboration isn't excuse to call anybody names, it is just an opinion for heaven sake. I didn't/don't like the idea of a duet for a single at this point, even if it turns out to be bigger than We Belong Together, but it is my opinion, an opinion I'm entitled to. I've been coming and posting on this website for 15 years, and many of those who called other fans fake or told them to go someplace else, are long gone. This messageboard would be very boring if all we had to say is Mariah is perfect, she sings perfectly, and everything is perfect about her. Some of us stated it not liking the idea of a collaboration, not the song itself, since it hasn't come out yet, duh!

Oh dear (37,658) by Stacey from USA
People always seem to miss the point. What's new here? Folks weren't happy about a duet, but for me I was willing to give it a chance. I was glad it wasn't a duet with a rapper, lol. At least this time it's a singer. Haven't had that in a while, so it may be good. The teaser looks amazing. Look, I've been an MC fan for nearly 20 years. I was an MC fan long before many of you youngsters joined and I'll be around long after you leave. That's dedication, lol. Peace.

Antone (37,657) by Anonymous from
Ha. You do have a point. I'm not referring to anyone specific, but it's true. Mariah is like the biggest celebrity that still has her own fans to tear her into shreds like no other. For real for real. For example, I sometimes go to a Michael Jackson fan page and you will never ever ever hear or read them dogging him. Ever. It's impossible. They truly do believe in the saying, go hard or go home. Especially with this AEG case going on, you better not throw him under a bus. Lol. Sometimes I get the feeling that if he did overdose, some of the fans would find a way to sweep this under the rug if they could.

Antone (37,655) by Antone from Us
Look in, I'm not trying to hammer anyone about anything they say about MC. But I come on here a lot and a lot are complaining all the time about non sense. And I have seen within this past week that many say how bad an idea it is going to be for her and Miguel to do a song together by people who don't know the first thing about creating a record. As I said before, criticism should come after the song is released, not before. If you don't like it after you hear it, then that is perfectly fine. But I still stand by what I said. If you don't like her, find someone else. And Stacey, don't tell me to "back it up a bit", you responded to my comment. I want to know where the real Mariah fans are. Go to a Beyonce, Rihanna, Celine Dion, fan page and look at the comments there what fans say about them. With that said I'm off this subject. I will not comment on it anymore.

2013 Era (37,654) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
She is on her third decade. And I do not want to brag, but being the bestselling artist of the 90s, and a top 11 best selling artist of the 2000s, she's the only living proof that if your music is solid quality, the world will not abandon you. She will not be the bestseller of this decade, but she will stay as the only-90s artist who has never faded her star. She has out-shone all her contemporaries who barely get heard, played or seen. I am just so proud of what she has become, a true legend. Here's my toast, cheers for a lifetime of epic music and a lifetime of stories of faith, love, dedication, failures and triumphs. You will always be our queen. You have touched our hearts in so many ways you have never imagined possible.

Back it up a bit (37,651) by Stacey from USA
No one has heard the song, so how can we say we like it or not, lol? You can't. I certainly won't give my thoughts untill I hear the song. My recent posts did not defend such a silly notion. (BTW, I love the teaser.) When the song does come out and we all have a chance to hear it, all fans should be free to express their thoughts without fear of retribution. Period. Antone, no fan loves all the songs she's ever released. I've been a fan of hers for 20 years. The majority of songs I've loved. Some songs I wondered what the heck was she thinking, lol. But, I'm still here. No one yet has said anything about the song because no one here has heard it. Once the song drops, all opinions should be welcomed. That's all I'm saying. And if someone doesn't like the song once heard, they are not any less of a fan. Peace.

Stacey (37,650) by Antone from Us
I was saying that to people who say they hate a song they haven't heard. That's ludicrous, and doesn't make logical sense. People get on here and complain about songs/albums that aren't out yet. And as I said before, if you're unhappy with "her" then you can jump ship.

I have a great feeling about this upcoming Beautiful era (37,649) by John from USA
I don't know why, but I do. I'm very impressed with the buzz that 20 second snippet of her giggling has caused. Well over 2 million views in just 3 days. Mimi's not playing around this time. This shows that people still do care about Mariah. She just needs to put out good, original music in her full voice and promote it. And by the looks of it, she does intend to actually promote "Beautiful". I think this time around, she will have time to actually consistently promote this era. She's not pregnant/trying to get pregnant or getting married like she was during the last few eras. I think she's hungry enough to have success on the radio this time. And she looks fantastic in the "Beautiful" clip. And I have a feeling she will be trying something new with this single. I'm very happy that (from what we know), there will be no rap on it. And even though American Idol's ratings have tanked, it has kept her name in the media. Very good feeling about this era, as I believe she is well-positioned to have a hit album/single. I haven't been this excited since right before E=MC2.

Beautiful (37,648) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Tbh, I can't even take the views of someone who judges a song before they've even heard it seriously. Those of you who get bothered by such opinions should just laugh. It's ridiculous to judge a song based on a few laughs, and hardly any music. Mariah has given nothing away with this one. Btw, I loved the teaser.

I don't know if I agree with you on that. I do like her sad songs, but I can't listen to them all the time. They get annoying. I love the happy songs. Why? Because I always want to be happy. Like Honey was a big hit. Touch my Body. Whenever You Call. Bliss, Baby Doll and of course Emotions. Something tells me that Beautiful is going to take me over and up to the top. I hope it's all I've ever wanted within a new single. It sounds like it might go towards very refreshing type of feeling.

Antone (37,646) by Stacey from USA
Thank you for illustrating the point I am trying to make. You are automatically telling someone to leave if they don't like something MC does. All opinions should be welcomed without fear of attack. If someone listens to the song and doesn't care for it, they should have the right to say why without being told to "find another artist". Geesh. Anyway, I've said my peace. Moving forward to May 6th.

Beautiful (37,645) by Antone from Us
My thing issue is, when people get on here and start stating how they don't like something before it even comes out. And Mariah fans wonder why her music doesn't transcend anymore. You have no faith in her. If you don't like her or her decision, then you do have the opportunity to go search for new artist.

Great music (37,644) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
Mariah creates the kind of music that hits us deep when she takes the inspiration from pain, sorrow, misery. Not much with celebrating her success or happiness. But she's in a better place now and I hope all the pain she's had can become enough inspiration to draw music that the world will cry over again and again and celebrate life. I hope she delivers music that means something. I need that, as a fan and as a human. I am going through a lot in my life right now and her music is by far the only thing that holds me together. I hope she is well and I love her so much. Thank you for the music for 23 years.

Am I the only one? (37,643) by Jay from USA
Am I the only one who thinks all this was just a business move? A very calculated move? The lack of promotion for E=MC2, releasing the wrong singles, the cancellation of Angel Advocate, losing the main soundtrack song to Precious, American Idol. It did just enough for the fans but not really anything for the main general public. It seems the IDJ/Universal was focused on Rihanna and Justin. Despite the fact that not everyone likes them both, they are successful. And it seems that Mariah took a backseat to them as far as promotion is concerned. But was it on propose? This 26 second teaser clip has so far been the best campaign/promo Mariah has received in a long time. Everything else was for the fans. Who else is going to log on/tune in to HSN to buy Mariah’s wares? Christmas album? For the fans. Triumphant? It was just to get people to talk about her in the media (as a prequel to American Idol perhaps?). All this, just so when she was ready to go mainstream, her name was still in the media. I am really excited for this new era. I can’t wait to see what happens. Just my two cents I suppose.

Deedre, RibbonB (37,642) by Stacey from USA
I agree 100%. We all have different thoughts. Some are going to like the song, some are not. It's the dissenting opinions that tend to get slammed for no reason. That's what annoys me to the core. I didn't like Triumphant and man did some folks here come after me hard. I didn't expect that because while I expressed my dissatisfaction for the song, I did so in a respectful manner to those who did like the song. If someone comes here hating on Beautiful and MC for no reason, then yeah we should call them out without stooping to their level. Know what I mean? Anyway, I can't wait for new music. RibbonB, well said about Idol.
