Stacey/Edward (37,572) by Anonymous from
No one that I knew likes the song Almost Home. The song was for a Disney movie and you could tell. It sucked. It served its purpose. I still haven't even seen the movie the Oz. It's for kids or for people that have nothing to do for the day so they go see a movie such as the Oz. When Mariah comes out with Mariah Carey songs, then we can talk about ratings etc. And no Stacey, those 34 million votes were from this past week.

Rainbow era (37,571) by Lee from UK
It's funny how Mariah's different albums define eras in her persona. Even though I didn't enjoy the music, I loved the Rainbow persona, as she looked amazing and was so much fun to watch. I think that Mariah would have been amazing on Idol.

Dionne (37,570) by Stacey from USA
In years past, you might be right. AI ratings were doing great, but has slowly seen a decline since the nucleus of Randy, Paula, and Simon was broken up. Twitter followers may be up, but the number that really matters is how many people are watching the show. That number has hit an all-time low for the show. Not good to see Mariah apart of that number, especially when producers thought her name and stature would be enough to lift the show. MC better hurry if she wants to use the show to promote her album. In fact, honestly I'd be pushing the first single right now and letting each week allow her to promote the album in some way. Anyway, I doubt she returns next season (f there is one). I wouldn't.

Won't Mariah use Idol to promote new music? (37,569) by Edward from USA
I have the feeling that Mariah Carey will pass on Idol. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't promote any new music on the show. If she doesn't release a single at least within the next 10 days and come with an album title, it won't make any sense for her to do it. Since Idol hasn't been doing well, and she's been labeled as boring, I don't think she'll be performing on it or using it to promote her new music. Neither Triumphant nor Almost Home made a dent on the charts even when she's been getting lots of exposure on the show. Almost Home was played on Idol almost, and even though Ryan Seacrest announced it, it failed to make an impact on sales.

Singles (37,568) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
I'm reading lots about Mariah's single success/failures. And I can't help but think, so what? Some of the most successful artists in the world never see any of their songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Take Michael Buble for example, the man sells out arenas, sells millions of albums, and yes, he releases singles, but do they top the charts? No. Maybe Mariah knows this and is putting so much work into her album, because she knows that the place she reigns now is the albums charts. Maybe if Mariah's next album doesn't enter the Billboard albumcharts, then there's cause for concern, but we all know that ain't gonna happen. Just a thought.

Miguel, Nicki has no class (37,567) by RibbonB from USA
Well, I've been a strong advocate for Miguel for months on this message board. I do hope he writes a song with Mariah, but I definitely hope they do not sing together. I'm so sick of Mariah and her duets and collabos. After waiting and hoping Miguel would appear on SNL, I was actually disappointed. I love that he performs different arrangements of Adorn when he performs it, but I hated that rendition. I am very glad that he is finally getting the mass attention that he deserves, but that rendition was very rock focused, rather R&B focus, which caught my attention and grabbed my gratitude. Lol I am glad Mariah is considering working with him. My heading on Nicki says it all in my opinion. She over reached and now she's trying to pull it back. And ratings on that show have never been lower. I hope MC has humongous sales, but I doubt Idol will help.

AI /Stacey (37,566) by Anonymous from
Hey guys, I've decided to change my name. It's me Nattalie, but I don't want to go by that anymore. Stacey, I have to disagree. Mainly because numbers don't lie. American Idol was the best thing to happen to all of the judges and everyone on the site. I bet Mariah has gained followers and more. These contestants are on twitter and they have over 50g followers since the show started. That says a lot for just being on a tv show. When they annouce the voters count is over 34 million votes. You can't get no better than that. And this is just America. Mariah will sell amazingly well on this next album if she promotes it during Idol. Wise move Mariah.

New album / AI (37,565) by Stacey from USA
I'm with Deedre. AI is almost over. Now is the time to launch the album and use the show as a promotional tool. She'd better hurry or else she's missing a huge opportunity. As far as her judging style goes, people will like it and some will not. MC was great during the audition shows, but in the live shows, with some contestants she's really offered good advice and then others she's been all over the place. Honestly, I used to watch AI during the live shows untill the finale. I haven't even watched this year, even with MC on the show. AI is a dying breed and it's sad to see MC a part of it this year, because she's so much better than the show could ever be. I agree with K too. I think she was awesome as a mentor and would be great in Jimmy's spot or sharing the mentoring role with him too.

Mariah and Miguel (37,564) by Ryan from the Philippines
I just wish they'll do a duet in the new album. But R Kelly is already in there, so I think it's impossible. Yet an updated version of a single that features another artist will do (Whenever You Call, Angels Cry). Miguel is my favorite male artist in this generation and I think his voice compliments pretty much with Mariah's.

Mariah on AI and Nicki (37,563) by Nattalie from USA
I don't think them two are beefing anymore. Anyways, this week Mariah was cracking me up. She looked like she was about to explode. Litterally. When Lazoro sang she just didn't know what to do and she put her hands on her head like she was just trying to find her way back to earth. I bet we all felt the same way, at least I did. She was lost for words which I can understand. There was nothing to say about Lazoro, nothing, besides that she and the rest made a mistake on picking him for the show. Did you all see Nicki laughing her butt off when Mariah was about to scream? Nicki was like, yeah girl, I know how you feel kind of look. That's why Nicki didn't talk, because Mariah basically covered for her. Nicki has always had great taste on AI.

I wish "Almost Home" didn't flop (37,562) by John from USA
It really is a shame, and I don't know who to blame. I think "Almost Home" was her best song in years. For me, it's the first song since "It's Like That" that I liked within one listen (TMB and Obsessed had to grow on me, as did others). I love the video, we finally get something mature and age appropriate for her, but of course it's after the death of the music video. If only radio would have given the song a chance, I know it would have taken off. Great vocals, great lyrics, great hook. Even though I'm sad it flopped (it deserved to be a number 1), I think the quality of her work has been improving, and I'm hoping it's indicative of what we have in store on her new album (which I am dying for).

Mariah's new single (37,561) by Edward from USA
There's only five contestants left on Idol, which means that Mariah might be releasing a new single anytime within a month period. That's if she's planning to use American Idol as a platform to promote her new music. I don't think that her album will be out before the show's finale, but if a single is released soon, she could perform it on the show. She's been working with all these producers, I hope she comes with a great song. I'm crossing my toes here, because last time I crossed my fingers for her, it didn't work, lol.

May? (37,560) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Mariah recently tweeted that the album was close to being ready. Last I remember reading, the album was projected for May. Has anyone seen anything contrary to this? Just wondering. Will be nice to have some new music for spring/summer. Also, I didn't realize Kelly Clarkson had covered Mariah at her live shows so much. I think she does a nice job with all of them, but particularly "Love takes time" and "Can't Let Go". Check them out on YouTube. I also checked out Kari Jobe, who is the artist Angie Miller covered last week. Her album is really lovely. Anyway, happy Sunday.

What about a double album? (Pop/R&B and Acoustic) (37,559) by Edward from USA
Mariah has been recording for a long time now. A double album would make sense at this point, and it would also satisfy us (fans) for a few years before the next project comes out. Mariah's acoustic mini version of Love Story was refreshing when E=MC2 came out, even though it wasn't included on the album. If she can pulled a Shania Twain with a double album set, Pop/R&B and Acoustic, it would be great thing. I love Match Box 20's acoustic version of "3 AM" better than the regular version, more soulful to me. I think Mariah would give her fans a great gift by doing that. Mariah's making sure her next album is well put together. I hope she doesn't get people disinterested by pushing the release date over and over, because it could put people off.

Lee (37,558) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
You have a point, but then the Americans love Simon Cowell, so it's not like they are adverse to harsh realities. Also, I'm actually Irish, I just reside in London. Lol.

Judge Mariah (37,556) by TJ from Norway
I think she does a good job as a judge. Mariah's critisism is not based on being rude.

Mariah's height (37,555) by TJ from Norway
There is one thing I never get. That's Mariahs height. She has always said that she is 5'9, but is she shrinking? It's normal to lose an inch or two as time goes by, and to me she looked much taller in the beginning of her career than now. On Idol she should have been much taller than both Keith and Ryan, but she isn't. Anyone?

Stephen (37,554) by Lee from UK
This could be a cultural thing, us British have never really been the type of people to shy away from confrontation. Just look at Gary Barlow and Simon Cowell (and dare I say it, Maggie Thatcher). For some reason American talent show judges like to sugar coat their critiques. Mariah is the Paula Abdul of season 12.

Special K (37,553) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I've enjoyed Mariah on the show thus far, but have to say, on this weeks show she was incoherent, rambling and verged on annoying. She needs to be herself. She's trying too hard to be liked. She's likeable as it is and should just judge. For example, Lazero has been terrible for weeks now, and all that needed to be said, was that at this stage in the competition, with all the help he's getting, he should be better, and be working harder to improve, and he's not. He fell way behind the competition. Instead, she spent what felt like hours explaining something which still barely makes sense to me. She needs to relax, and say what she really thinks. I think she has a lot to offer, and clearly has more interesting things to say than the other judges when it comes to actual singing, but she's trying too hard to be nice, and it comes out rambling. I think she should quit the gig after this season. She's above this trash. She should get that album out asap before this gig ends and move the hell on. Her $18 million pay check can shut any haters up.

Mariah (37,552) by Special K from USA
I've been watching Mariah on AI. Straight up, I've been a bit irked by her judging style. Mariah's kind of all over the place. Perhaps this gig just isn't for her. If Mariah returns to AI, I think she should be a mentor. Take over Jimmy Ivine's place. Mariah has so much expertise and knowledge as a gifted singer. Mentoring, teaching voice techniques and giving advise appears to be more in Mimi's lane. Judging folks isn't her thing. Remember, Mariah was a mentor before on AI and turned out to be the best one the show ever had.

Kelly Clarkson (37,551) by Lee from UK
Kelly's on stage moment with Mariah was too cute. Did mariah say that Kelly had sung more of her songs than she had? I've never been the biggest fan of Kelly, but I do love how her and Mariah share a lot of fans. Kelly does a request section of her show where the fans can request that she sings a specific song and more often than not it ends up being a Mariah song. I often don't appreciate other people singing Mariah songs, but Kelly does them so well.

AI (37,550) by Licia from USA
The producers are just mad because they thought they were going to get diva b*tch Mariah, but they ended up getting Mariah whois trying to help the contestants in a positive way and not crush their dreams. She has given negative criticism, but she's flipping it in a way to not hurt their feelings. She's saying it, but people just choose not to pay attention because she's not being rude about it.

Rad Chad (37,549) by RibbonB from USA
Lol agreed, each person's opinion is their own and is as valid as the next. Some people may never appreciate MC's style. At least she is being herself. It's silly for anyone to think she should act like another judge. Makes no more sense than thinking a singer will act or sing like another being judged on the show. I'll be glad when this season is over and hope Mariah doesn't come back. Idol producers effed up royally, I said that from the beginning. Lol.

Re: Well (37,548) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Frankly, I find myself miffed at AI in general. They can deny they weren't banking on the drama with Nicki and Mariah, yet videos and such of footage get released from set and the first several shows are edited to showcase it. Now, Mariah is too nice, so basically a successful judge is someone who says whatever they want not caring how it comes across for the others. Maybe that's why I don't connect as much with Randy and Nicki. To me, Randy doesn't say anything new or different and certainly not anything someone can take away and work on ect. Maybe this show isn't for me if that's the case. I admit I started watching to see MC on it, so maybe that's just my bias coming up - point taken. I just don't think it's entirely fair to say someone isn't providing value because they're "nice".
