video release (36,205) by RibbonB from USA
I meant to say Meek Mill and a thousand people in his crew performed the day the video was released.

Is Mariah bringing it old school to her new album (36,204) by Jay lynch from Australia
Is Mariah going to bring the old school classic Mariah we all love in her new album coming out early next year? Does anyone know if Mariah and Walter got together to make magic with the new album?

Meriweatherc86 (36,203) by RibbonB from USA
Regarding radio promo, Mariah did a joint radio/media conference with over 300 outlets at once. It actually was big news and was very effective. She is managing her time and this process very effectively. This song alone is getting more twitter hype than Memoirs got. And it is getting more participation from her dj friends. I am glad Mariah is promoting smart. Meek Mill and his crew peformed on 106 and Park the day the single was released and Meek was there to promote it. Radio adds to rhythmic stations are slowly improving week by week.

Spee, I don't think anybody here cares whether you are gay or not. It's all love and it shouldn't matter.

Haha you're too cute, so you think it's hot eh? Lol well well. Lol I think I'm a little flattered, I don't know. I forgot to add that whole "I'm in heaven, with my boyfriend, my laughing boyfriend..." scene is what really did it. I was like wow I'm in love. I always used to replay that part just to see what specific part, being 10 and copying her and listening to the song never got old to me. Now when I'm at the gym I take my iPad with me as I've always done since I got it and I watch the video and I always think back to the first day I hooked. This was the last album my brother who introduced to me ever bought. He said you don't see it now little brother but Mariah changed, she thinks she is too good and he just never followed her after that, I ended up taking over and I would probably say E=MC2 was that moment for me. I love the album but promotion, videos, singles choices were wack!

Mariah fans (36,200) by Spee Vale from Philippines
Can anyone make a poll how many Mariah fans are girls, boys, gays? I just like to know. I am afraid people might thought I am gay.

First time I heard mc (36,199) by Licia from USA
After reading some of these comments, y'all have me feeling old as dirt. Lol. The very first song that I heard by MC is Vision Of Love. I was in the sixth grade. My sister actually had the cassette tape of her first album and I stole it. Lol. After hearing every song on the cassette tape I was hooked. I pretty much have bought all her CDs except for Memiors and I still have all of them collecting dust. Lol. Although her music and her voice has changed throughout the years, she somehow manages to give me something that I'll like. I'm not fond of Triumphant (main version or remixes), but I'm not counting her out just yet. I'd like to just add that Nick Cannon is not forcing himself into her career. After what she went through with TM, I don't believe she would allow anyone to take over. He's directing her videos because that's what SHE wants him to do. We can't blame Nick or Randy Jackson for every bad decision.

When to buy Mariah's single (36,198) by Spee Vale from Philippines
I suggest do not buy Mariah's single on its first week of release. Let us wait until the non-lambs hear it, probably 1 week after release of the music video. That will sum up to a number of downloads that will make her to the top.

"My" first vision (36,197) by Badr from USA
I remember hearing about Mariah Carey, but I wasn't really exposed to her music until 1995. I heard "One Sweet Day" on the radio and saw her "El Amor Que Sone" video on Mexican TV. I was shocked when I realized it was the same person. "One Sweet Day" redefined my concept of good music. I had recorded the song straight from the radio. I loved her dynamic and expressive voice, moving lyrics, and soulful sound so much that I asked my brother to buy the Daydream cassette for me on his way to work. There had never been an album that got me the same way Daydream did. I listened to it literally hundreds of times. I found out Mariah Carey was responsible for another hot track I loved called “Someday”. Still, I didn’t consider myself a “hardcore fan” until “Honey” and Butterfly came out. After listening to Butterfly, I bought the Daydream CD and continued discovering her superb catalogue. Like many people in this board, I do not always agree with her decision-making but, in retrospective, Mariah has created part of the “soundtrack” to my life. Therefore, I am still a loyal fan.

Re: Stacey (36,196) by enwar00 from usa
So true what you said about the feelings put into her songs that we relate to. And that coupled with the voice, just awesome. Plus since she writes most of her own lyrics it probably makes it even stronger.

Re: Gilbert/ Fantasy (36,195) by enwar00 from usa
Haha, I still remember the day the Fantasy video premiered on MTV, so it's cool and funny that it left such an impression on you. It was right before the VMAs that year and they world premiered it. I was at my sister's apartment and the three of us watched it and were all excited. Ok maybe it was just me that was excited? Lol. No but a couple others in my family are into her too. Still, that's not the one song that made me a super fan or whatever. Also, I think its kinda cool and hot that you're so honest in your post. Plus I love details.

First song (36,194) by Sasha from Nomansland
I felt in love with her voice when I heard for the first time "Without you". I was 9 or 10 at this time. This song will always have a special meaning for me and although I listened to it a billion of times, it still gives me the goosebumps. My mother tongue is not English so when I was young I didn't understand the lyrics and I couldn't stand it so actually I can say that Mariah makes me want to learn English. I remember spending my evenings trying to translate her songs in French. Even if I don't understand all the choices she has made these last years, I'm still a fan and will always be. It's funny to think that it's been twenty years that I'm listening to her songs, I feel like they are a part of me and of my history.

The first time (36,191) by RadChad from United States
Like many 80s babies that grew up in The 90s. The first song that caught my attention was the emacalate "Vision Of Love". I had to be in 2nd or 3rd grade at the time, and remember for first time being blown away by a singing voice. I grew up in hearing many great singers, but NONE moved me like Mariah did even at that young age. I didn't become completely obsessed though until 95 when The "Fastasy" video came out, this was the year that it all came together, that MC was not only gorgeous, and the most amazing singer ever, but also a musical genius. After falling in love with MC in the Fastasy video, I discovered that this was the same woman that sung "Vision Of Love", Emotions, Hero etc. I then realized that Mariah's music has followed me every since she debuted on the scene and I've always subciously loved all her songs. The first album I owned was the Christmas album which was a gift from my sister, I don't think I need to go into how this album helped make Christmas even more awesome each year since. The first album I purchased was Music Box, and I received DayDream as a birthday gift (a year after its release) which is still my favorite Mariah album to date with some close seconds. I don't think there will be another artist in this lifetime that will move and inspire like MC. I will always love that woman unconditionally for many reasons.

Triumphant/Randy Jackson/Nick Cannon (36,190) by clueey23 from USA
I still don't get it. Where is the promotion? I know the NFL kickoff! But really, it would have been nice to have all the artist on the track stop by 106 and Park and push it?! Or she could have did more radio promo. I love the song but the treatment for it is sooo off base. It's almost as if it didn't even get a fair chance. I hate when Nick directs MCs videos, they always come off cheesy, except for Love Story. And although the concept is nice, the flow of the video is OFF! They should have told more of a story as aposed to just posing and looking rich. Lol. I just want you all to know that Randy Jackson has been with MC since like 1989.

Collection, first MC song (36,188) by Stacey from USA
I use to be a huge MC collector from 2002-2007. Some of my favorite items were Butterfly (Brazil Promo CD), Miss You Most, etc. I had so much fun collecting and met some neat people. It's how I came to find this website. The discography here was one of the most complete and organized collections I've seen. It was most helpful in determing legit releases vs. fakes. I miss those days, but the time did come to move on. I sold my collection to other MC fans who I hope are taking care of those items. The first MC song I heard was Hero. I remember I had the TV tuned to VH1 in the days where they actually played videos, lol. My back was to the TV as I was fixing the vacuum. Hero started playing and it was like a movie scene where I slowly turned around, thinking to myself, "who is that voice?" After that I was hooked. Even though her latest efforts may not appeal to me, I am forever grateful for her talents. She has an amazing ability to put all our feelings into a song we all can relate to. Daydream is my favorite album, hence the avatar, lol.

Gilbert, Will, Rod (36,187) by Stacey from USA
Gilbert, I enjoyed reading your bio, especially the last couple of sentences. Will, well said. I agree 100%. My apologies to you and everyone else here for dragging this on longer than it needed to be. However, defending respect to other views is something I'll always fight for. Rod, you give me too much credit on how much influence I have here, lol. Eric decides to post what he wants. He has decided not to post things I've written. It happens and I've learned from my mistakes. Eric did ask you to stop. Since only 4 pages of messages appear, I am sure it would be easy for Eric to email you the page in which he told you to cut it out. If I claimed something he did not do, he would be the first person to correct me. Others here would be quick to correct me too. Funny how none of that has happened. Your insults toward me or my career bounce right off me. I just "Shake It Off" because I know they are not true, and so does everyone else here. Peace.

Be nice or leave sign (36,186) by Will from England
Wasn't there a photo of Mariah holding that sign up? I think it needs to be re-instated, since it's clear some fans have forgotten this. I find it sad how some fans feel the need to think that their argument is the only right one, and no one else is right, or word what they're saying in such a way, that it's easily misinterpreted by those who are reading, then feel attacked when they're called out on it. MDJ tried to have the comments section for a while, but that ended because the fans just couldn't be nice to each other (that's my understanding of why it stopped, do correct me if I'm wrong). I'd hate to see that happen here (true, it's been here over a longer period of time, but still). Eric has created a wonderful, respected site where fans from everywhere can come and discuss all things Mariah, not to argue and insult each other. So please, don't drag this out and cause any more embarrassment than there already is (not directed at anyone in particular). Be nice, or leave.

My collection (36,185) by TJ from Norway
My first album was "Mariah Carey" and the next one was MTV Unplugged. It was with the release of Dreamlover that I startet collecting Mariah's singles and albums. For years I was sad about the fact that I didn't start to buy her singles in 1990. The Vision of Love cover picture was not like the one they released in the States. I remember I was looking at it in Denmark back in 1990, but I didn't buy it. I heard someone say that Triumphant is going to be released in Germany next month. Anyone who knows something about that? I'm in Germany in the end of next month and need a new single in my collection.

Re: The album or song (36,184) by TJ from Norway
My first Mariah moment was Vision of Love on TV in 1990. Been a fan since that moment. My best friend told me that NO ONE would remember Mariah Carey, and that she was a one hit wonder. Lol. She was so wrong. Some other friends told me that Mariah was a man, because she had this huge (7 octaves was the rumor at that time) range. Others told me that she could not sing live, or that she was 3 feet tall and so on. I have been a fan in a world of haters. in 1994 a neighbour was yelling at me because I played Without You on repeat the whole saturday morning (from 8am to 10 am) really loud on my stereo. hehe. She didn't live the house next door, I think it was at least 5 houses and gardens between us. Hehe. I was a "crazy fan" in the 90's. Fortunately I grew up.

Disappearing posts (36,177) by Rod from Philippines
Not sure if this post will ever appear here but I've posted a response to Stacey's "One more thing, Rod (36,161)" post and Eric, the webmaster, just doesn't want to post it. (Now, he's very much involved in this, thanks to Stacey's connivance with him.) I'm gonna drag this issue here and on your Facebook page, Eric, until you post that message. I strongly believe that fredom of speech must never be suppressed. [...]
