What is this? (36,730) by nikki from usa Interestingly, Nicki's side of the story doesn't actually say anything about the "feud", she's only mad that Barb didn't call her. Nicki keeps saying Mariah phoned Barb when on The View, while Barb stated clearly that she called MC after hearing rumors. Mariah had told her the only reason she took the threats seriously is because Idol producers told her they overheard Nicki too. You're not that bright if you're allowing the producers play one off the other. Nicki has had opportunities to say her piece, instead she's constantly talking about why more people aren't talking to her about it. And c'mon, you were happy that day? You're caught on tape cussing Mariah out, so everyone was sent home early. You have a rap on Alicia's new song Girl on Fire - "not cold like Carey". You're on twitter claiming MC's jealous of you being the best judge since Simon Cowell. Now, you love Mariah and don't want a rift? You wanna sing with her again? Nicki, are you bipolar? Videos / Rihanna (36,729) by Chase from USA Yes, Mariah is on a much higher level than Rihanna, certainly in terms of talent and contribution to pop culture. That said, Mariah has to step up the quality of relevant things, like music videos, in order to be competitive in this musical environment. I haven't watched Rihanna's video, and I wouldn't want Mariah to imitate Rihanna's style. However, there really is no excuse for the lack of quality in many of Mariah's recent videos. I think a lot of us are just asking for her to give us high quality Mariah Carey videos. (Monday 12 November 2012; 23:13)

Mariah/Rihanna (36,728) by Jay from USA I do believe people are getting the wrong idea of comparing Mariah to Rihanna. I think it's more of comparison of the video quality. I don't think they mean to have Mariah copy Rihanna's style. We are just asking for better quality videos. And I personally don't like Nick's style of directing, but that's just my opinion. Can we please... (36,724) by Geezy from USA by way of NYC Can we please stop comparing our queen Mariah to all these pop tarts of today. All the Rihanna, Gaga, Katy comparsions are very weak because all three of these artists are a total different breed from Mimi and come from a different cloth as far as artistry,videos, promotion ect. Let's respect these artists for who they are and what they represent to the music culture and let's respect our queen for what she has brought and is still bringing to the music culture whether we agree with it or not. Videos (36,723) by Terna from Nigeria Mariah's not Rihanna and Rihanna's definitely not Mariah. One's an artist with raw talent who got to where she is today based on that undeniable talent, the other's just a commercial artist with no artistic direction designed to sell records and notch in as many number 1's as possible. Having "artistic" videos as you put it is part of the equation to move units. PS: There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Triumphant video. (Sunday 11 November 2012; 16:47)

Good and bad videos (36,722) by Carol from Spain I think people should stop wishing what Mariah should do and accept what she does. I strongly believe Mariah earned the right to be respected and she shouldn't follow any other artist. If Mariah made videos like Rhianna or anyone else's, it wouldn't be Mariah. Videos (36,721) by Randy from USA I keep saying over and over, with the music industry being what it is, no label is spending on videos what they were spending at the millenium. Albums don't sell digitally or physically due to internet sharing. MTV and VH1 maybe play 12 videos a day. There's no money for it. MC is not a video artist, she is a singer. Diamonds/videos (36,720) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom With all due respect, I think the influence Rihanna has on her artistic direction, image, styling, videos, etc, is very limited, if indeed present at all. So it's not fair to compare her to Mariah. However, I am of the opinion, and have said this on this board before, Mariah's videos in recent years have been lame and uninspiring. She definitely needs a new creative direction and should take a chance on a young, up and coming director. No more videos from Nick please. It is getting ridiculous. (Sunday 11 November 2012; 10:53)

Videos didn't make Mimi great (36,719) by Lee from USA I mean, Mimi has raw talent and Rihanna is just milking her "beating" by Chris Brown for sympathy. People forget that Mimi had some cheap-looking videos in the '90s and still ended up being the greatest artist of the '90s. Mimi worked with Hype Williams for the "I Want To Know What Love Is" video, and it was a mess. An artist could have a great video, but without promotion, it wouldn't mean much. All she needs is a label that would support her, not one that is trying to dump her in favor of Jay-Z's supposed mistress or some teeny-bopper. (Sunday 11 November 2012; 5:53)

It reminded me of her Russian Roulette video, or maybe it's just the fact that the song is also of slower tempo. I don't dislike the Triumphant video or even other ones that are really hated by fans like I'll Be Loving You Long Time. I like them, maybe I'm a sucker, what can I say? Diamonds vs Triumphant (36,716) by Jamie from UK Has anybody seen Rihanna's new music video for Diamonds? Now that's what I call a music video. It really stands out artistically. Rihanna's videos just get better with every album. Maybe it's about time Mariah hired epic directors, because lately her videos like Triumphant are looking so 2005. Boring. Check out MCArchive's extensive discography section and scroll to "Long Players" (vinyl albums). You should try websites like musicstack.com, gemm.com, eil.com and eBay for hard to find records. MCIIY (36,713) by Stacey from USA It's been snowing here all day long. My favorite song off the album is by far "Christmas time is in the air again". For someone who doesn't necessarily love the whisper, she does it right with this song, then switches it up to the full vocals when the song calls for it. Perfect. Nothing will ever top MC 1994 for me, but I am glad she released another Christmas album. I get to enjoy the above mentioned song plus Oh Santa, and another favorite One Child. That is a great song to remind us who we celebrate this tme of year. (Saturday 10 November 2012; 5:18)

Merry Christmas II (36,712) by RadChad from United States I agree, the album is intimate, soothing, and has a very spiritual feeling to it. I have more than one favorite: O Little Town Of Bethlehem, The First Noel, When Christmas Comes, Christmas Time Is In The Air, but all the songs are enjoyable. Re: Stacey (36,706) by Ryan from the Philippines I agree with you. BIOH sounds really like Slipping Away, that is why I said on my previous post that the song is Daydream-ish. Sometimes I feel like it's also the same vein with Make It Happen and Fly Like A Bird. But generally, Bring It On Home sounds unique and classic on its own right. Beautifully made, not overproduced, soothing to the ears, I can actually listen and go to sleep with it. Lol. 5 stars to Mariah. (Friday 9 November 2012; 11:00)
