Re: Thoughts: which album do you think MC dislikes (100,792) (100,793) by Stacey from USA
100% agree with you. Butterfly is Mariah's crowning achievement. But Daydream was the beginning of that journey MC took to get to Butterfly. That's why I don't see her disliking the album as Terna suggested. I know where I was too when I first discovered MC: my living room and Hero began to play. My life would never be the same, lol. That voice. But I digress. It's why I don't bash MB too hard. That was my first album I bought. But MB was the height of Tommy's pursuit of pop Mariah whereas Daydream began that decent off the top of the pop hill into R&B where MC so desperately wanted to live.

I do think that Mariah doesn't see Daydream the way she sees Butterfly. She knows the album was a defining moment in her career, but instead of acknowledging the whole album, she would rather refer to specific tracks like: Fantasy, ABMB, OSD, UTS and Looking In. While many of the ballads lean heavily towards R&B, I don't think she cares much about them. I do love (to the second power) Daydream, it was how I rediscovered Mariah after having heard "I Don't Wanna Cry" several years prior, but thinking it was Whitney Houston. I can remember that day, it's vividly emblazoned in my mind. Me sitting at school, with my headphones on, and there it was that angelic voice singing "Open Arms", I almost fell off my chair, lol. I have to admit that while I frequently rhapsodize about Daydream, I listen to Butterfly more often. It's like Daydream and Butterfly represent two different Mariahs, and I love them both. Daydream forever though.

Re: Thoughts: which album do you think MC dislikes (100,785) (100,789) by Stacey from USA
I don't think MC sees Daydream the way you do. The ballads lean heavy toward R&B while Music Box leans pop. Now I say any criticism of Music Box with a huge grain of salt. MB was the first album I bought. Hero was the first song of Mariah's I heard on TV when, you know, music channels actually played music videos, lol. So I do have a soft spot for MB. Go find Mariah's appearance on Carpool Karaoke and listen to the first two songs James Cordon plays.

Daydream forever.

Walter A is an evil man who ruined Mariah's life by helping her write great songs. How dare he! Mariah needs someone to buy her a chaise lounge to faint on from the burden of having to share writing credits with someone so terrible.

I knew it. Haha you'll always defend "Daydream". But you have to admit, what I observed is spot on. And don't do "Music Box" like that. Its [ballads] are much more concrete and not cheesy like those on yours truly. Lol.

I'm not so sure about that Joachim. I'm a Capricorn and am currently dating a Scorpio, and have done so before. Maybe check out a fellow Cappy?

Re: Narada Michael Walden (100,756) (100,782) by Norman from USA
Yeah, I wondered about that too, Bill. He worked on VOL with her as a producer, and I'm guessing that's why she always says it ended up being over-produced (she prefers the demo version).

He mentioned something about her possibly releasing one of their songs from the vault, though. Possibly in The Rarities 2?

You're absolutely right about Walter. He didn't have success with other artists besides Mariah, except for Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Kenny G, Savage Garden, Marc Anthony, Neil Diamond, Idina Menzel, Josh Groban, Jordin Sparks, Gladys Knight, Eric Benét, Earth, Wind & Fire, Santana, Michael Bolton, Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson, Ricky Martin, Tina Arena, Lionel Richie, Boyz II Men, Paul Anka, Daryl Hall, New Kids on the Block, Gary Barlow, Luis Miguel, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, Teena Marie, Narada Michael Walden, Whitney Houston, etc, etc, etc.

How I love to answer posts by idiots like you.

Mariah in Capri (100,778) by Brad from USA
It's been a minute since Mariah has been to Capri. I think she was last there when she was engaged to James Packer. The pandemic certainly affected her ability to travel there. Some photos show Mariah in her standard wetsuit attire. They appear to reveal Mariah in less than fit and healthy form. I do hope she is taking care of herself and being healthful. Personally, I don't think she feels her best when she is so overweight, Hopefully she can find a better balance for herself that leaves her feeling better and being healthier. I know from personal experience that after a certain age you have to give up certain foods and cut back, including calorie loaded alcohol. I hope she will do that for herself and her family.

Re: Thoughts: which album do you think MC dislikes (100,772) (100,777) by Stacey from USA
Wait, wait, wait, I got to defend my baby, Daydream. That album was the beginning of Mariah spreading her wings. Not just Fantasy, ABMB, but MC loves UTS and the amazing record OSD held. I can see Forever, When I Saw You being a bit schmaltzy but even those songs lean hard toward R&B compared to songs from Music Box. Honestly take your post and replace Daydream with Music Box and then I think you're onto something. But not with Daydream.

This is too funny (100,776) by Bobby A from United States
So, I picked a rewritable CD of TEOM at a thrift store. It has the unedited version of My One and Only. I hear MC clear as day saying sh*t and mf. We know on the CD version those words are blurred out digitally. Is it true now that when you download My One and Only you can buy the unedited version? I am going to post on my Twitter page later today.

Walter (100,775) by Mariahsbaby from usa
Haven't been posting here in a long time, I came across a recent interview by Walter. There is not a single person I hate more than him that has ever crossed Mariah's path. The fact that he sold the rights towards her hit Christmas song alone is a reason to delete him from all of our minds.

He said in the interview "a lot of people have stopped talking to her" yeah a lot of people who couldn't reach 1% of the success they had with Mariah. Nobody cares about them and if I wasn't so invested in Mariah's life, like the entire world would have never heard of Mr I-had-no-success-without-MC Walter.

They were an absolute dreamteam professionally. I wonder if there are still songs from the past which we don't know. I need "Rarities Part two".

Re: Just one more time with Walter A. (100,770) (100,773) by Bill from the UK
Their last time together was actually 1997. Lead the Way was written and recorded during Butterfly but not used until Glitter came along.

Re: Thoughts: which album do you think MC dislikes (100,754) (100,772) by Terna from Nigeria
Without a doubt, that would be "Daydream". As soon as you mention that album she skips the first four songs and goes straight to talk about "Always Be My Baby" and how the writing process with Jermaine was fun, her adventure with Da Brat and if she's feeling it, the remixes with the girls Xscape and that's it. She pays that record absolute dust and just doesn't speak about any other of the songs much, nor has she performed them at all since the era came to an end. I bet if an interviewer says "Hey Mariah, let's talk about the Daydream record and era leaving out ABMB and Fantasy with ODB", she'll immediately go into a malevolent trance while still fanning herself with her latest hand fan. Haha. Oh dear, I hope she doesn't see this.

Jamie Lidell (100,771) by Bobby A from United States
I just bought Jamie Lidell's self-titled album on vinyl. This man is a musical genius. He has a soulful voice and some hot beats. He said in an interview that Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation and R&B was the inspiration for his sixth self-titled album. I just wonder what MC and Jamie Lidell could do in the studio. Check him out on YouTube with the tons of videos about him. His song Multiply was featured on Grey's Anatomy's soundtrack and Don't You Love Me Anymore (Stevie Wonder influence).

I would say that you are right. Professionally those two are among the greatest songwriting duos the business has ever seen. I'm not sure Mariah would be confident enough with her voice at the moment however. I know she says it has repaired greatly but you have to remember that Walter last played with her when she recorded Lead The Way.
